heaven's bread
Tumblr media
A billboard next to the expressway
Advertises its bread as heavens bread
The elm trees are overgrown
The paths in the field weren’t made by deer
The next billboard advertises girls
Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be one of them
Cat eye in fishnets and as big as the sky
Kids file in one by one next to the river
Nate’s got the joyride lawn mower stuck again
They’ll drag it back up the river bank
Be home by 10
The sky weighs heavy and they’re in the baby pool with their clothes on again
One blunt for fifteen kids
Didn’t even throw in
Growing on empty only makes your hunger bigger
Throwing your shoulder out with pebbles at stained glass windows
But it’s alright, it’s alright
We’ll be eating heaven’s bread soon

Whoo Hoo! The Gourmet Goober Podcast was Featured on Apple Podcast's Black History Month Collection for the Second Consecutive Year!
Tumblr media
The Gourmet Goober Podcast, an indie food and pop culture podcast based on the popular Chicago-area blog of the same name, has been selected for inclusion in Apple Podcast's Black History feature for the second year in a row. The show, hosted by JJ Outlaw and her husband, T. "Big Daddy" Outlaw, explores the intersection of food and pop culture from an African American perspective.
Now in its fifth year, the show has received praise for its engaging host banter and insightful interviews, earning recognition from Soulphoodie.com as one of the top food and beverage podcasts hosted by a Black woman. The show's name was inspired by a nickname given to JJ by her father years ago when he instilled in her a love of cooking.
"We are thrilled to be included in Apple Podcast's Black History Month collection for the second year running, alongside bigger production shows that we admire," said JJ Outlaw, who produces the podcast in addition to co-hosting duties. "It's an honor to be recognized for our work in celebrating Black food culture and exploring how food connects us all."
In addition to its recognition from Soulphoodie.com, the Gourmet Goober Podcast has been identified as one of the top 100 independent foodie podcasts by Goodpods.com. The show continues to attract a loyal following of food enthusiasts and pop culture aficionados alike.

Orange 🍊 Trains 🚂
The color Orange in La Porte County is always on prominent display. From the local schools choosing Orange for their mascot “The Slicers” to the trains that stop to drop off freight at the Southern beaches of Lake Michigan on their way to pick up more payload, orange fits right in during the fall season when orange coordinates with all of the fall decor. ~Kimberly @Instaviewpoint…

Gov: I remember my first Northwest meeting, though back then it was the Northwest Territory and was Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The Northwest: ...
Montana: Idaho is Ohio
Idaho: why do I have to be Ohio?!
Washington: I think that would make me Michigan, and honestly I'm okay with that.
Oregon: Can I be Minnesota?
Alaska: I'm Minnesota, you're Wisconsin on a good day.
Oregon: Least it's not Indiana.
Wyoming: as Indiana is the only option left... hey
Washington: No, Illinois is all that's left.
Montana: how many people are in Illinois?
Gov: 13 million.
Montana: Damnit.

I hope it brings everyone joy to know the Feline Community Network (the group I got Miles through) have moved to a nicer, more visible location with more room for the cats (: there's even little windows for them to sit in and watch people!!!! They were at risk of closing in 2023, but I'm glad they're doing well enough financially to keep the work up, especially as we move into the colder months.
