Honestly? It should have been Metal taking Sonic to his so called execution/banishment chamber. All with Eggman watching and taunting him through the intercom. Instead we get Zavok. Also I'm sure if it weren't for the dialogue literally saying Sonic was *Tortured* for 6 month the whole him coming back from being imprisoned and nothing changing wouldn't have mattered. They just had to add the trigger words tho
I really don’t get why ST seem to have this huge amount of regard for Zavok. Like, no.... nooo ST, he’s not a good character - Much of the fandom hate him and by extension the rest of the D6, pushing him the way you currently are isn’t going to magically make fans love him.
Much the opposite.

The animosity b/w old, traditional fans and new fans of SW is so tiring. Old fans think new fans are noobs and don't get SW, ne fans think the older ones are trivia-obsessed geeks who don't get it
aaah yeah i know. sorry, it’s taken me *forever* to answer. i have thought about this a lot. it’s a complex question. thesis material.
First, the thing is… the old fan/new fan categories are far from being representative of the fandom’s demography - even if we look at it in terms of old vs. new - is an old fan someone who saw the OT in the theaters? A new fan someone who came to SW because of TFA - or even the prequels? Where do we fit those fans who grew up with the OT but didn’t see it in theaters?
But that’s still not enough, classification-wise - we’d need a gradient from the very casual fan to the very invested; there’s the shippers and the data-obsessed, thos for like the Myffical and those who like spaceships, the fan-editors, those who dig the Clone Wars and those who don’t, etc, etc - the categories intersect and when it’s not new fans vs. old fans, it’s lightsider vs. darksider, x ship vs. y ship or what have you.
So that generalization - new fans = noobs, old fans = triva dummies, is really really far from being representative of what fandom really is. Even in fandom, identity is not tied to one and only characteristic. The generalizing going on both sides is basic outgroup homogeneity thinking - defining the Others by one main characteristic, usually a negative one. Because on the other hand, we see our own group as quite diverse; so to rally us all against the Others we need to all agree on why they suck, and it’s way easier to concentrate on one main thing that we can all rally behind (bickering on why exactly the Others are so bad is counter-productive). It also makes it easier to see the Others as all the same (because no one wants to be reminded they do share common points with the Others).
As to why age polarizes so much… You can’t change your age, so it’s not really a category you can leave? And i think the history of the star wars fandom plays a hand.
I mean, if you go back to the time when a mention of the whills that could only be found in the title of the published scripts and a quick throwaway in the novelization could become a mythic, widely known thing because there was so little to expnad that universe you loved - if you look at the fandom post the OT, there was, what? The movie novelizations, Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, The Adventures of Teebo hahahaha the Marvel comics, the Ewoks and Droids cartoons and… starting in 1887 the West End Games D6 RPG.
Heir to the Empire, who really kicks off the EU novels, comes out in 1991; until then the EU is pretty much shaped by West End Games - i’m not sure how much implication Lucas had with the thing, but I would bet almost none. The point - anyone who’s ever played RPG knows stats are numbers are key. Those games, and the way of looking at the GFFA that went with it, played an important part in shaping the early fandom.
Now if we fast forward a bit, let’s say 1997; we get to the Dark Times, not long before the PT; the EU novels and comics introduced some great stuff, but also some not-really-good. Canonicity is becoming a complicated question. It’s what now shapes fandom - what source should one trust most? Lucas Himself, the good ole D6 sourcebooks, the novels or the comics? And who the fuck shot first? Because that’s also the year the SE comes out.
The PT is only going to make things worse on that end, because with it come retcons of the OT, and full swathes of the Old EU are written out of existence or rewritten. With TPM, the fandom suddenly swells with newcomers (and obiqui! the impact that had on the fandom!) but half of the the old guard is running around trying to reconcile the verse they grew up with and the sudden changes, and the other half is busy Believing In Lucas. There’s vicious infighting. By the time ROTS is out tho, a lot of old fandom has stopped believing, The newcomers, by then, have also invested other places because that atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming to them.
Canonicity remains an important part of the discussion in a lot of places, and another thing i could talk about is the role played by the interweb and technology (FAN EDITS! FIC! among other things), but this is growing long enough. Post ROTS another thing that had changed was the rhythm at which supplementary material came out - faster, of course. If you wanted more SW, it wasn’t lacking. That makes for a different fandom - like, there always was someone to obsess over details, but nothing comparable to… well, the Whills’ near-mythical status.
Anyway, last fast-forward - Disney buys SW. Fandom is in meltdown. The EU becomes Legends. Fandom suffers from a cardiac arrest. Fandom has, by then, become a multi-faceted hydra that hardly ever agrees on anything, excepted that we all love the thing. And since we’re all human, sometimes we think we Know Best how to love it? Still not sure why we fall back on age so much.

2018 JUNO Awards
All eyes on Vancouver, as the city hosted the 2018 JUNO Awards this weekend. It’s been 9 years since Vancity was the home the award show and the comeback was bigger and better - obviously! Musicians, artists and celebrities (yes, us included) got together to celebrate Canadian music industry and more!
By more I mean, we got to experience some of the great things that Vancouver has to offer from food, beverages, and hospitality! We also did get to enjoy speckles of the city’s gorgeous weather.
The official blogger team gathered in the lobby of the newly opened JW Marriott at PARQ Vancouver (they’re the official hotel for JUNO Awards ;)). Lots of familiar faces showed up: Hiiii Ania and Tyler from Calgary, Isabelle, Elise and Ian from Toronto, and Samantha from Vancouver! I also got to make some new friends this time - ‘sup Toronto’s Humble the Poet and Vancouver’s own Gelsea Mae!
Our first mission was to check out the Ready Player One (Steven Spielberg’s new movie) activation outside of the Vancouver art gallery. We then regroup and made our way back to Honey Salt for a cute little afternoon tea. Everything from the tiers of goodies, the plate setting, and the delicious TWG teas went perfectly with the adorable room they have at Honey Salt, including my blush outfit.
A nap, a cocktail, and an outfit change later, we attended the opening reception where all, or most the industry people were hanging out and mingling that night. An evening of fine food, wine (via. Jackson Triggs), beer (Hi Steamwhistle!), and fashion - just the way you should kick off an award show weekend.
The next day was just as action-packed as the day before. Starting with the Beats per moment: a yoga class powered by Lululemon (I mean, we’re in Vancouver after all) to sweat out last night’s consumption. The JUNO Awards nominee Felix Cartal was dropping beats as I stretched out my not-so-flexible self in the mids of avid yogis of Vancouver. The TD’s Greenroom was the next stop for today. Exclusive live music performances from the JUNO nominees, hair and make up stations, (lots of) snacks, and a bar? Sign. Me. Up! It’s mimosa o’clock anyways! The mimosas definitely helped the getting ready part for the big Gala dinner at the Convention Center later that evening.  We made it to the cocktail reception portion just after 4.30, but people already lined up to walk the red carpet. This was when the celebrity sighting got serious! Diana Krall, Lights, Michael Buble, The Arkells, you name it! Jessie Reyez showed up a little later that evening!
The big day’s finally here!
The Georgia viaduct was closed down to set up the red carpet tents. Armies of black cars arriving in the mids of hundreds if not thousands of fans waiting for their favorite celebrities to arrive. I’d like to think that some of them were waiting for us, the official JUNO bloggers - HA! We did pull off the red carpet glam looks real well that day! Dressed in Lanvin tuxedo and Christian Louboutin shoes, I rolled into the red carpet with the rest of the crew, feeling like we’re in a band. We then made our way to the Jackson Trigg’s pre-party lounge before the actual ceremony.
It’s a little after 5PM and Rogers Arena was packed with people waiting for the show to begin. This year’s Host, Michael Bublé started off the evening by announcing that he and his wife are expecting their third child - obvs, the crowd went wild. The show this year was filled with a lot of big moments. Arcade Fire, who won Album of the Year and the International Achievement Award opened the show. Daniel Caesar won the first award of the night for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year. Followed by Jessie Reyez, as the Breakthrough artist of the year! They both performed individually and together later in the evening! My new friend (HI!) Shawn Hook did a beautiful rendition of his single Reminding me, alongside with the B.C. Youth Choir and strings! Lights put on a show after an empowering Girl-power speech from Grimes and Buffy Sainte-Marie! The Arkells also got the stage (literally) lit up!
An emotional tribute to Gord Downie was also a highlight of the show. Downie was awarded Artist of the Year, and the award was received by his two brothers. A personal highlight for me tho, was the Diana Krall’s performance with Michael Bublé! I got chills all-over when they took the stage with Nat King Cole’s L-O-V-E!
The Barenaked Ladies reunited on stage with Steven Page, and closed the show with their hits If I had $1000000. With (fake) money and balloons thrown around like confetti, making it not just a nostalgic performance, but also a memorable end to a fabulous evening!

Next year’s JUNO will take place in London, Ontario, with the host that is still to be announced!
Many thanks to the JUNO Awards team, CARA, and all sponsors for having us and treating us like the celebrity that we are at this year’s #JUNOs!
Till next time!

(1) Wow, you have a lot on your plate. That's truly commendable. How do you like the languages? Had I not panicked at the end of high school, I'd be in uni now, but I'm actually skipping a year. I don't work either (big coward here), so I just sit uselessly at home. .-. O, I'm craving biscuits now, haha. (my fave Christmas Eve dish is bean soup, tho it might sound yucky) ps.: We talk quite a lot about food, lol.
(2) I try to be creative with gifts, but anything handmade turns mediocre at best. I don’t have any ideas for this year, tho. :( Ah, my friends and I once came across a funny video of VIXX’s Leo and we were ’??? what’s this’ so we watched some more things with him and had a great time. A few months later I was bored and watched some VIXX compilations, then listened to Error and bam. Hooked. Do you have any favourite kpop compilations?
As for the kpop fans here, I don’t know how many there are, but lately it’s becoming a trend to listen to BTS, EXO and other popular groups. How is it in France? B.A.P! Who is your bias there? And (finally something Day6 related, haha) which is your favourite D6 December release? What do you think about the songs? Sending lots of positive vibes. - MyDay Secret Santa
Yeah, especially this year. I feel like the first year was way easier. I really like it! But Japanese is way harder than I thought, I have a hard time remembering all the voc. I’m good at Korean though! And I really appreciate learning the grammar and everything. :) I love grammar actually. Don’t worry, if it can help you decide what you want to do and feel more comfortable about it it’s good. :) (I’m not a big fan of beans, but I’ve never had bean soup ;-; ) Aaah, I love food so much XD Well we understand each other about this then. x) Owh, hope you’ll find! Me too, I still have gifts to find for two of my friends, it’s so hard… Oh, Error is my favorite VIXX title song! ;o; The MV is incredible. Hm, not really? I don’t really watch those. Yeah, here too, it’s getting more and more common to find BTS and EXO fans, but not that much of other groups. Zelo! Used to be my ultimate, that kid. :’) Yours?  From the whole Moonrise album? I need somebody, I think. From only the songs released in December, that’s definitely Better. Hm… I really love the meaning of the lyrics, actually. I listen to all kinds of songs, but songs with deep meanings always get to me in a different way. And the voices, tbh. Young K’s voice is definitely incredible, and Wonpil never fails to amaze me. :) What about you?
Thanks a lot! To you too ~
