terfs celebrating that the international chess federation has banned trans women from competing in women's FIDE competitions, because it's sooooooo feminist to argue that women are so biologically inferior and nowhere near as smart as men and thus can't play chess on the same level. girl that's not feminism that's literally just misogyny

What exactly is the problem with "queerphobia"? I prefer the word "cisheterosexism," personally, but that's just as vague. Why can't there be words for a more broad phenomenon which includes the more specific forms of oppression OP of that post is demanding be acknowledged?
Okey dokey so this is in regards to this post: https://www.tumblr.com/fandomshatewomen/749573906105614336?source=share
And I’ll say, speaking for myself, I’m actually pro-the-term-queerphobia. Because I think it very accurately describes the process that these people go through. They come across a person who does not act in the ways that they expect them to, but they’re not gonna go through the whole rigmarole of “I have interpreted this to be an X type of person therefore I expected them to act in Y types of ways, but they have not and this is upsetting to me but that’s okay because people are allowed to upset me” they’re just gonna jump straight from that confusion to disgust/revulsion/anger and displace their poor self-regulation onto you. Or me. Or whichever queer/non-“normal” person they happen to have interacted with that day.
That being said I’m just one of the mods on the fandomshate blogs, and there’s a whole bunch of you in this audience. Feel free to reblog and add your thoughts or send in messages and we can continue the conversation :)

Ok yes America hating the cold is funny (eh) BUT. have you considered that I like the imagery of an America sitting alone in the forest in the bleak mid-winter landscape of an east coast woods, all alone in both body and mind, agonizing over her seeming doom to be stuck in the throes of loneliness for all eternity?

I'm not even gonna directly respond to the ask I just got and I just blocked the anon who sent it, but I just wanna say... If you'll come to my blog to spout exclusionary bs at me, you can shut up and just block me instead because aside from this post, I'm not even gonna react to it cuz none of you deserve the time of day.
Also if you think aroace people don't belong under the queer umbrella, you can honestly shut right up and I sincerely hope you step on the pointiest, most annoying legos every single day for the rest of your miserable life

sometimes I wish you could post an opinion on a fandom blog without inviting a whole witch hunt or being accused of causing drama but alas

you mentioned the "first reansmasc haircut" thing and i gotta say its not just a white thing, i did the same thing lol
I didn't want to be overly presumptuous because hairstyles are incredibly diverse, but... it's nice to know this is a thing we can share regardless of what The Haircut happens to have been 🙏

saw an exclusionist post so here's a reminder
specifically in reference to transmasc lesbians and trying to draw lines in the sand on who can and can't claim the lesbian label, about how being a lesbian is exclusive of loving men, with someone referring to the people they're attempting to exclude as "fandom gremlin transmascs and neo-mogai crazies."
I don't have the spoons for a proper response but i do feel like i need to make something clear.
on this blog we support fucky genders, fandom gremlin transmascs, and neo-mogai crazies. reblog if u love ur fellow fandom gremlin and neo-mogai crazy queers.

It is very tiring trying to be like "shadowgast cute and soft, make brain go brrr" while simultaneously feeling still that, even a year and a half later, to a loud portion of the fandom, their relationship through the last ten-ish episodes of the campaign didn't "count" because there was not a (mouth-to-mouth) kiss involved, even though their interactions throughout that last arc were absolutely crucial to Caleb's storyline, and gave the impression of prioritizing each other even while focused on averting an apocalypse.
And in particular, the moments they had at the Blooming Grove were very sweet and spoke of the importance they placed on each other and the grace they were willing to extend to themselves in settling what they both still needed to settle before another step could be taken. But evidently that doesn't actually matter because it didn't result in a traditional domestic relationship (ignoring that, clearly, that isn't even really a possibility regardless of their interest, per the two-shot).
If the feeling had not persisted so insidiously among the fandom, I really would not be so persnickety about it, but it has never felt like that subsided and it is simply rearing its head in a far more noticeable way now that those folks can claim there's actually something to "celebrate" to their standards, as though a relationship cannot possibly be real unless you've watched two people stick their tongues down each other's throats.
Like, do people not realize how exclusionary (and, frankly, pretty invasive) that sounds, or do they simply not give a fuck?

Hey, guess what!
Identity policing and gatekeeping doesn't stop being identity policing and gatekeeping just because you say so.
You can tell me the world is flat all you want. It will continue to be round.

Honestly I’ve gotten to the point where I hate when people forget that their headcanons aren’t canon, because then people will point at a character that canonically has a loving and long lasting relationship with someone of the opposite sex in canon (and as a trans person I hate wording but idk how else to put it atm) and say that they’re exclusively gay or exclusively lesbian, much like the Annabeth discourse recently on here. And I know that people struggle with comphet, but this has happened so frequently in my fandoms that it’s just feeling pretty biphobic, and it’s compounded worse when it’s women of color in general, and most often black women, as the mod that discussed the misogynoir aspect of this said too.
Mooooooooood and like, what gets me is that there is a difference being like "I like to think of XYZ character as 123 identity" versus "XYZ *is* 123 and everyone who disagrees is not only wrong but actively hates 123 people" like bro whut 💀💀💀
I don't know if it's because I'm old (by fandom standards) or I just managed to avoid that particular strain of fandom brainrot lmao but I've never vibed with that type of entitlement to like, idk declaring yourself as the consensus opinion? Anyways.

It’s kinda funny sometimes seeing post on tumblr where ppl are talking abt reclaiming slurs and they say faggot and then proceed to not say dyke bc they don’t think they can reclaim it and r kinda like “no…. I shan’t say…….” Like i promise I won’t get upset if you aren’t a dyke and you say it when talking about the concept of slur reclamation man. If you’re gonna say faggot in that context say dyke too

Honestly lots of the takes people have about disney characters are just bad, not just the classic princesses. Some people, even so called "fans"; are desperate to make the characters seem worse than they are just to prove a point or make some stupid childish game of "my fave is better than yours". Like "Simba ran away from his responsabilities", when he witnessed his father's death and was gaslit by Scar to leave, duh he's processing trauma, he's not a college student avoiding homework
This. I also think the current wave of fandom we're in, and just the age we live in right now, is coinciding with this era where many people are being trained to be the ideal consumer. Most of the people I've seen online have been so conditioned to thinking in a monolith about a certain movie or character and will attack anyone who doesn't support it or reject it accordingly, implying that a simple disinterest or disapproval belies that person being evil or inherently problematic which is ridiculous lol also, even just hearing people say certain things...like idk I just think that it's verryyyy interesting that certain characters weren't popular at all, and in the last 4-5 years, people are scrambling over themselves, backwards, acting like x character or y movie is their favorite and they're giving the reasons why that media is so important to them- and they're listing off whatever the current, socially approved talking points are for that character or movie. Idk all of it just seems like people are engaging in a script and it feels so far removed from any natural ability to just choose what we like, personally, as people without it having to imply something else. This is a minor point, but re: the bad takes/selective outrage: people can't accept someone in the fandom even having a separate opinion than theirs. If someone made a list of their favorite Disney Princesses, they could literally put that Cinderella killed someone or that Aurora was a dragonfly- things that are so wildly off- and it wouldn't matter, as long as they're in the bottom. But if you make a ranking and you're one of the .000221% that don't have Rapunzel, Belle, or Tiana in your top three Princesses or Eugene or Flynn as your top Disney crush, they'll try to get the village to burn your house down lol
