oh okay heres one:
"sleepaway camp"= you go there for at least a few days, a week, sometimes several weeks, and sleep there, as opposed to a """camp""" where you go for the day and your parents or whoever picks you up afterward (those arent really camps, but like. idk when i went to "space camp" it was a weeklong but not sleepaway). in the U.S. at least, the typical image of a sleepaway camp involves staying in cabins, dunno how common it is/what it looks like in other countries.
for the first few i just mean like. not necessarily a stealth church camp, just like. idk, a camp where theres also an Assumption Of Christianity and just general vibes without being actually church camp. So, there might not be daily services and jesusy dedicatwd activities, but maybe theres still a prayer said over meals and shit. Which i assume might exist...
(oh and @reblogforsamplesize if u wanna)
#buzzy#poll#polls#personally: yes i went several times#and i enjoyed it bc. camp!!! yay!!!#but the Church part of it. complicated feelings on that matter#mine were all weeklong camps#went every year for a few years i hink#it was fun bc again YAY CAMP!!! and the ones i went to were like huge things#they had cool water stuff like The Blob and waterslides and some fun games and shit#you could do paintball#and i wasnt like. NOT christian at the time. but i also Wasnt Really Feeling It#i was mostly into it bc. camp.#...maybe i should have asked my parents if i could just go to one of the normal summer camps instead lmao#like the 6 week ones or st#that coulda been fun ....#so my answer is Its Complicated#i did like. participate in the jesus side of things. but i was also kinda knowingly faking it u kno?#i remember one time during a service i started having a bit of a panic attack (mostly bc of the MASSVE crowd. this was a huge ass camp)#but i still had to like. stay. still do everything. my pastor was being nice about it but still was like :( well you cant leave#i remember that was the day we did some shit outside w torches#like. carrying torches in a big procession like some sorta ritual thing ig. fuck if i know.#and i was like crying while following the procession and trying to stop#(the crying STARTED un the megachurch extremely loud giaant speaker GET PUMPED UP!!! area and continued to the torches)#thars my stringest memory from church camp aside from when i fcking DEMOLISHED the frozen t shirt game#(they gave a few ppl on stage frozen t balled up shirts and it was like 'okay first one to unball it and put it on wins!!!')#(and while the two boys i was up against started trying to tear it open with their hands i just#(in my cute lil butterfly shirt and pretty skirt started SMASHING IT AGAINST THE GROUND FULL BODY AAAUUGGHH and broke that shit)#(i was sooo proud of mysekf and my oastors wife thiught it was Unladylike of me but i fucjing won. the boys copied me after a sec)#(but it was too late i won :) anyway yeah like i said mixed feelings u kno. anyway go blue beetles woooo!!!!!

Maybe Tex was the first fragment because Alpha's first response to stress was the desire for someone to come save him, like how Allison once saved Dr. Church from bullies. Maybe that’s why she wants to save him, and keeps coming back?...

Lolol sometimes it’s so funny reading peoples posts about “Mormon” theology that is based on Exmo stories, tradition/culture but not doctrine, and like random statements by some church leader 200 years ago that was not put into doctrine/canonized, or that he was corrected/reprimanded on, and all of us look back on like “well that guy was racist/sexist. Anyways moving on…” like tbh it just makes me laugh. Like I know our theology is a bit different than mainstream Christianity but y’all don’t need to make it sound like we are out here truly believing half the stuff you say about us.

Idk maybe I’m just a bitter queer Jew but it is entertaining to me how many Christians will trip over themselves to be like “our church isn’t like that!!” Which is like…yeah, it probably is like that.
What are the largest christian sects in the world? The Catholic Church? Long history of antisemitism. Protestantism? Long history of antisemitism. The Orthodox Church? Long history of antisemitism. The church of latter-day-saints? A younger religion with its own history of antisemitism. Jehovahs witnesses? Another younger religion with its own history of antisemitism. And all of these, broadly, are still mostly hostile to queer and trans folks.
So yeah, it is you. It is your church. My ancestors in the former Russian empire experienced pogroms that we’re actively encouraged by the Orthodox. Catholic Churches stole thousands of Jewish orphans during world war 2 and forcibly converted them. Protestantism was founded by a guy who wrote a book called “on the Jews and their lies”. The Mormon church was, as recently as a few years ago, posthumously converting victims of the holocaust. And pretty much every single Christian denomination, with a few exceptions, still actively proselytize to Jews, still view us as either primitive Christians who need to be brought into the fold or as an evil cabal that has to be killed and sent to hell, or (in the us especially) a politically convenient group that needs to be exported to Israel ASAP so as to begin the resurrection of Jesus or whatever.

Obviously, such spaces don't preclude praying in other parts of the home or outside the home, but I was curious how common this was.

I'm arguing with some catholic girl on tiktok (yes i know, first mistake) and she just told me that "going to church on sundays" is literally in the 10 commandments. Baffled actually.

People want all the benefits of Christianity without all the repenting of sin, putting it to death and trusting in Christ part.

whenever you’re going to judge someone over something (clothes “not modest enough,” not obeying the WoW, not always wearing their garments, having tattoos or piercings, being LGBTQ+, literally anything else) ask yourself if it would seriously matter to Christ.
He healed the ear of a man wounded by one of His adherents, He fed thousands (i doubt 100% of them were faithful), He welcomed prostitutes, disabled people, the poor, the outcasts of society into His flock and made them the most valued members — see the story of the poor woman who gave a small about of money among the rich giving their money, and Christ said her contribution was the most valuable because she gave all she had.
you don’t have to give a million dollars in tithing, or be perfect in every commandment. you don’t have to fit the molly mormon mold. we say “perfect gospel, imperfect people” but then hold each other to the standards those very people have set. hold yourself to the standard of CHRIST, not what anyone tells you His standards are.
Jesus Christ loves you the way you are, and He loves other people the way THEY are. mind your business <3

ngl i’ve experienced more harassment as a jew from antitheist ex evangelicals than i have from christians. i actually feel much safer around the christians in the church choir i work for than i do edgy atheists bc the church choir ladies will give me cookies and hanukkah cards while the edgy atheists will tell my queer trans ass that i’m homophobic and in a cult.

What about historical people who are known to be Christians? I have some fave historical figures.
Nope, sorry! People who have already died still fall under the no real people rule. Basically, it goes down to the fact that whatever people say, all we can really do is guess from their actions, and we don't want to make claims about the state of other people's souls. We can't know what is between someone else and God.
