i need to use rin for comedy more. "girl who acts like she has a world-ending secret to hide and will go to any lengths to conceal her true identity but isn't like. actually hiding anything" is a really funny character. "they can't find out" find out what!!!!!

BLUEBELLS, YOURS TRULY.
[SYNOPSIS] ˚⁀➷。 albeit rarely, rindou overthinks, and frequently, ran doesn’t think too much.
[NOTES] ˚⁀➷。 this is like the “backstory” for the ring. MAYBE i’ll turn it into a multiple part. i also put it in the timeline where everyone is happy because i really love everyone being friends. wrote it because rays’s version destroyed me !!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
he spins the ring on his finger. he slides it off. he looks at it. he lets it hang from his neck, on the chain. he sighs.
“now what the hell is up with you?” barging in, ran asks. “who shat in your cereal every morning for the past two weeks?” he says, opening the kitchen cupboard to take — funny enough — some cereal out.
“i’m not in the mood, ran.” his younger brother spits back, head falling against the wooden table.
“hey now, there’s something really wrong with you if you’re acting like .. this.” pointing at him, he sits down, fat bowl of cereal clashing against the dark block, spilling some milk onto it. “now, spill.” with mouth full, he tries to choke out the words, spoon in his brothers face the moment he gulps down the first mouthful.
“you’re gross sometimes.” rindou just sighs, looking away.
“what’s with the ring?” ignoring the insult, the lanky haitani just continues his questioning. “by the way, the blue doesn’t look that bad on you.”
“it’s mine, and i got a matching one for y/n.” the other explains, “thanks, by the way. it was her idea to dye it like this.”
“you wanna propose to her?” his older brother asks, chewing loudly. “y’know we’re still just teenagers?”
“no shit, big head.” rolling his eyes, rindou feels the exasperation dig its roots deeper into his brain. “i’m not proposing. yet. but i don’t know if i should give it to her.” he finally says, letting ran in on his worries.
“and why not? what’s that? cartier, right?”
“no brand can escape your gaze, you’re really unbelievable.”
“thanks, bro, love you too.” as he swallows his last spoonful, ran winks.
“not in a good way.” the younger sibling announces, earning a displeased look from his brother.
“now you’re the annoying one. fuck’s going with you two?” ran finally snaps, trying not look worried. after all, he loves his brother, but they don’t do that kind of talking.
“she’s leaving next week” rindou finally manages to choke out.
“what? what do you mean?” his brother asks, taken aback by the sudden information.
“her student visa’s expired. she’s gotta go back home until gets it renewed.”
it pains him to even think about it. he hasn’t eaten in almost fourteen days, ever since he found out. but what pains him even more is how excited you are about going back home. about going away from him.
he thinks it’s selfish, because he knows how much you’ve missed your parents and how much you’ve waited for a holiday that’s long enough to return.
“if the flights take four days in total and i want to stay for two weeks, then i’d rather not go anymore.” you always said. “i want to spend as much time as possible, without having to rush anything, y’know?
but maybe sometimes love is all about being selfish, loving someone with your whole heart. maybe he wants to never let you leave without him. maybe he can’t let you leave without him because he can’t stand not being an 8 minute subway ride away from you.
“don’t tell me you got some of those control issues, the pretty tiktok girls say they’re not cute at all…” ran comments, dodging an uppercut by a mere second.
“can you take me seriously for once? i think she wants to break up with me, she called me over today saying we have to talk.” rin frowns, blond-blue bangs covering his tired eyes. “i shouldn’t have believed that tiktok reading that said good news are coming my way.”
“you’re so fucking dumb, lord have mercy.”
“excuse me, ran?”
“you’re excused. let’s get this straight: does it really matter to you wether she’s oceans away or in meguro? what do you think she’s gonna do, break up with you only to return in three months and see you everywhere? do you really think y/n’s that kind of girlfriend? throw away three years BECAUSE OF A VISA?! fuck outta here with that insecure crap, rin. i raised you better than that.”
on the inside, ran smiles. oh, how he loves knocking sense into his younger brother. truly the best activity.
“now go and talk to her.”
rindou hesitates.
“i won’t say it nicely the second time around.” the older one threatens, and rindou jolts up from his chair and bolts through the door, house slippers still on, door wide open. before ran can say anything else, rindou’s voice echoes from the staircase into the kitchen:
“i’ll buy a new pair when i get back, don’t start bitching, please! i’ve got a girl i have to convince not to break up with me!”
his older brother laughs as he pulls out his phone.
sister in law
(16:22) he’s on his way.
then, a ping fills the empty space.
sister in law
(16:23) already talked to mikey. everything’s going great.
(16:23) love you, big head
(16:23)🫰
maybe ran’s not gonna tell you the reason rindou is running like a maniac through minato ward right now.
ugh, is his head really that big?

Love Live Episode 9 Assorted Thoughts
Honoka acts like an overbearing gremlin but actually, she only goes far like that with the people closest to her and are comfortable with it, otherwise she really respects others' boundaries and is super mindful of their feelings, being really open and nice to them. She is such a chad.
I can't handle Eli's BGM LMFAO. It's such a dramatic funny piano.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is so funny!!
Rin relegated to being the tsukkomi smh, how could they do that to my girl...
Tumblr media
LOOK! They are walking to club together!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO.
Damn, can you believe this shit?
Okay. Episode 9 all the members are finally recruited. So…
Tumblr media
LMAO. The extremely contrasting reactions to Eli's trait list!
WTF, stop dunking on Nico please! She can't help her appearance!! Wait……… does this mean Nico wants the female fans??????? Nah, based on her reaction she's just mad Honoka honed in on her as a comparison.
"Yosh, I'm going on a diet!" "I'm tired of hearing that, nya…" LMFAO.
I'm so happy that their school is rooting for them. It's a joke that's brought up in the manga which is super funny. That one of the good traits of their school is that there's no bullying, and then Rin goes, "yeah, we're too stupid to bully nya!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Babbu.
UGHH PLEASE. Idol shows know how to do it, huh…………..
No, no, I was already crazy for her from before. Sigh.
Tumblr media
Sigh. Fave.
Tumblr media
Can't believe I just realized this but Nico is… rather than being there for the artistry of it, she's like a "poser" who is mostly concerned with the aesthetics of being an idol, so in that sense, she's superficial. She imitates and wants to project the vibes of what being an idol looks like, rather than doing it for the end goal and results…? I do believe her when she says she wants to make people smile, but still. For comparison, she seems basically like she's more of a Bernard-jou than a Kanbayashi. The poser who is more into the aesthetics of it than the process. It also explains why there's such a big sense of amateurish-ness to her, compared to the skills of the more "pro" members. She's an all rounder who's above average but not particularly amazing at anything, because she practiced singing and dancing in karaoke and arcade games, rather than polishing it formally like Maki and Eli. She has put a lot of genuine time investment but doesn't have any formal knowledge about the process. Just playing it by ear rather than knowing how to polish her skills.
Anyways, I guess the point here is that Nico is from a poor family whose only margin of reference for high class and celebrity lifestyle is TV and stuff. I love how much of a trooper she is though. She powers through the discomfort to go all the way with her theatrics, lol. Can't help but appreciate that. Like, even in the dojou example, Machida Sawako going to a cafe in the middle of winter to pretend to be a literary girl and power through the cold just for the aesthetic is admirable too.
I love Otaku Hanayo man.
Okay okay I get it, Nico is just a lame comic relief poser who makes funny faces in season 1, and all her interiority and characterization comes from season 2, right? I bitch, but Nozomi got a much shorter end of the stick here. She barely does anything at all.
So like, is this an actual thing? Do they sell merch of random school idols, that the artists themselves don't know about????????? WTF?????
Pleaase don't make Nico the punchline of the merch thing please please please….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is literally just there to make funny faces.
Daw man, she starts crying when she sees a character good of herself.
Kotori speaking Japanese in an american accent. Rin: Wha- a foreigner?! LMFAO.
More and more, Hanayo is the one who tsukkomis Honoka, and I love it.
Tumblr media
:3
"As we strive to improve, we notice the people around us improving too, which makes us work even harder. I guess you could say friends are like rivals." And then Honk and Umi look at each other. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
I love Eli getting into it too.
"Hey, has watching me ever motivated you to work harder?" "More times than I can count." "What?! But you're better than me at, like, everything! What about me has ever motivated you?" 「悔しいから秘密にしておきます 。」 "Eh?!" "Kotori and you are my top rivals!" UGH I LOVE IT.
Tumblr media
Look! It's the- the thing! The attention thing about art I was talking about!!
They are all so supportive, even the mean girls! LOL.
Tumblr media
After literally nothing, ever, sudden nicomaki jumpscare!!! I get Maki, but why does Nico look so put off? They literally haven't set up any antagonism between them, at all. Like, Maki snarked at Nico, like, twice? In the whole show. Nico hasn't done anything except ONCE not remembering Maki's name after joining the club. Nico reacts really well to Maki's quips, too! The first time she is all, "nice tsukkomi!" and the second time she just throws her a dirty look and that's it. And suddenly, nicomaki Magnetic Today?!?! It really was all Kotori…
Tumblr media
Lol.
So? When will Honk lose her will? I know it happens.

Oooh that’s true…maybe there’s a big age gap so she’s more absent/less influential? But YEAH LMAOO I TOTALLY SEE IT TOO!! I can imagine him being like “be careful guys are wolves” to his sisters as if he isn’t the prime example…I can just imagine Karasu and Otoya first convo abt like girls and dating and imagine Karasu’s jaw drops to the floor like wdym you have 5 gfs???
LMAOO Dehydrated is the perfect word because what even…it’s crazy to see how the art style has changed sm though!! Bro was PARCHED
The reo zantetsu dynamic >>> it’s so funny I love the way zantetsu spices up the nagi and reo dynamic too like seeing him interact with both of them just adds a whole other layer and I like how it shows nagi and reos interactions with ppl other than themselves!! Like it’s nice to see that they exist outside of their duo/partnership too if ykw I mean?
So real for that I also don’t rlly care about soccer LMAO I swear when people find out I like BLLK they ask me about soccer and I’m like….haha…so here’s the thing….angsty Emo 16 year old Rin….right in the pits of puberty fr LMAO actually you do make a good point about age there….maybe the rest of them are still in a soccer puberty rage mix LOL
Serial dater Otoya is so funny im stealing that title idea LMAO that’s gold
FLASHLIGHT EYES that just reminds me of the scene where Isagi is kinda explaining meta vision and we see everyone with the car headlights HAHAHA blue lock truly is something else….
Ooooo I love that older boy/reader idea..mmm yes inferiority complex peak angst fr…I can totally see the vision…but also hear me out I def see what you mean with chigiri and hiori but imagine this…I can’t tell if I’m slightly biased (I don’t have anything for chigiri though sorry princess) but when you mention hiori it brings me back to the few scenes where hiori kinda looks out for Rin (when Shidou smashes his nose in and hiori runs to help)…I wonder if maybe it’d work in a way that reader finds Rin to intense and immature in a way compared to the very mild-mannered, leveled headed Hiori…like two different types of familial trauma that yielded completely different manifestations of outward personalities….don’t get me wrong I still feel like the older boy inferiority complex is probably the better route and fits theme better but that just got me thinking of that potential idea LOL
Also yeah er…I’ve never fully been able to get on the shidou hype train oops, Isagi I think is a really cool protagonist because he’s not really my fav in any sense but the story still manages to make me root for him!! I think he’s written really well in that sense because I’ve never been that moved by an mc before LOL, still don’t like him enough like that though HAHA sorry Isagi
LMAO I’m NGL that art looks a little funky too but I’ll choose to ignore it but LMAOOOOO OTOYA that’s so on brand I love it from the snippet of knowledge I know about horse riding your ideas sound so accurate LOL I’m crying at groom Hiori omg
I have no idea about the specific logistics of each one, are there particular types or breeds of horses people choose for different types of riding? Or I know (like most animals) some typical have specific dispositions or traits…are there any specific horses you think would match them?
ME where are people finding these men fr like….I will not lower my standards sorry likeee why would I bring myself down to that level smh
HAHAH honestly a talent 200k sounds like a dream im ready to just block out my schedule and binge read the next installment and go back and read everything all together
No because I can’t live without music I seriously don’t understand people who don’t listen at all?? Like wdym??? I would be so bored like??? Also the obscure dad rock songs is so accurate I was thinking that too but had no idea what to call it LOL I can imagine them singing so loud you can hear them through the special karaoke walls and people in the neighboring rooms are like wtf
Pause on that note have you ever heard the official character songs for BLLK..? I’m gonna be honest some are a little cringe but I take it as like a little lore snippet/character interaction…I know for a FACT that Karasu and Otoya will have a song together sometime while s2 is released and I’m def gonna try and patch together the lyrics for it when it’s out LOL I bet it’ll be so goofy
THE BRIGHT GREEN!!!! Omg those are so pretty shshsjs and omg swans…I love swans…they’re so pretty birds are just awesome so you’re so real for that
Also NOO TAKE YOUR TIME HAHAHA cannot rush perfection o7 I’ll read it no matter what word count it reaches LOLOL quality over quantity hehe and omggg dragonfruit peach slushees so refreshing!! I’m excited for fall too not just bc of better weather but s2 release RAGHH I need all those Karasu panels animated asap (but eightbit pls don’t butcher it)
Also I’m crying I scrolled to the bottom of the reply to where it says more posts like this and it’s literally FILLED with our convo HAHAHA
- Karasu anon
yes that’s what i was thinking!! like maybe the otoya parents had their oldest child when they were younger and then eita + his younger sister are closer in age so their older sister isn’t as involved in their lives and isn’t close enough w eita to tell him to stop being a cheater. JDDJOS him talking to his sisters like “men are trash ladies stay away from them and don’t date until marriage 😌” buddy look in the mirror you ARE the trash…honestly that’s why i think childhood friends to lovers is the best trope for him!! i could write a whole oneshot on it but i shall refrain
i actually love reonagi 1000x more when they’re hanging with other characters instead of one another. idk why but i find them rlly boring together?? zantetsu + reo, nagi + barou, kunigiri + reo, nagi + isagi are all dynamics i find much more entertaining and also imo show their personalities a bit more.
HELP rin is stuck in soccer jail during his angstiest years no wonder that boy is constantly 0.5 seconds way from snapping and talks abt killing everyone whenever he’s on the field 😭 what’s funny is barou is older than karasu but he does NOTTT act like it…i bet tabieitaken gossip abt how immature half of the bllk boys are (not that resident jackasses karasu and otoya are pinnacles of class but they at least act their age)
oh i just excluded hiori and chigiri because they’re the same age as rin so the specific dynamic i was talking abt wouldn’t really work w them!! rin’s like one of the youngest players though so like p much anyone else would qualify as being older HAHA. i do think the hiori dynamic you mentioned would also be interesting!! i think that rin and hiori would be on more equal footing in that though…in my mind it would be more of a traditional love triangle than rin being a second lead who has a 0% chance at ever being acknowledge by the mc. still super interesting and def would be fun though!!
i think that the worst ones for rin (if we go the older boy route) would be nagi or karasu (not being biased). rin basically has no interest in anything but soccer (a lot like sae) and kinda horror games and whatnot?? for the most part it’s just soccer on his mind though. i think if the reader was w karasu (or even yukimiya to a lesser extent) who is very well rounded and generally mature, it would probably throw rin’s lack of maturity + other interests into relief, ESPECIALLY if the mc isn’t into soccer, which would def fuck w rin sooo bad. like everything he’s ever wanted in life has been obtained via his talents at soccer — he even thinks he can fix his relationship w sae just by getting better at the sport — but here’s someone who thinks he’s childish and doesn’t even care how talented he is. karasu straight up calls rin childish during the third selection for fighting w shidou which i think would make him crash out in an au like this one. it’s similar with nagi, who’s a prodigy that’s never really had to work for anything in his life — rin is super dedicated, and he balances his talent with hard work, so i think that if nagi managed to win over someone who HE wanted, seemingly without any effort, it would make him feel horrible and reinforce that feeling that no matter how hard he tries, he’ll never be on the level of the prodigies of the world (nagi/sae). idk if you can tell but messing w rin is a pastime for me i love thinking of ways to torture him
i also have never really seen the shidou appeal…like more power to everyone who likes him but he simply is not the one for me. isagi is meh like i don’t mind him as a character at all but i don’t know if i could ever write him as a main love interest!! he’s missing a certain smth in my mind. but he would be a perfect character to put in a side couple i think — kind of like a less problematic version of bff x otoya in fwtkac HAHA
for the most part there’s a lot of diff breeds that can do many different jobs!! especially if you’re not competing nationally most horses will do okay doing whatever, plus there’s talented/non-talented horses in each breed. normally people will pick a horse based on its aptitude for their chosen sport rather than just the breed!! but if i had to assign horse breeds (horsesonas???) to tabieitaken + hiori, i would say yuki would be a friesian, otoya would be an arabian, karasu would be a trakehner, and hiori would be a connemara
i haven’t listened to the official character songs no!! i feel like i only listen to soundtracks if they play during the show and are particularly majestic (violet evergarden soundtrack will always be famous to me hehe). i’ll have to listen at some point though!! karasu and otoya are truly THEEE best friends of bllk so they’re def going to have themes that riff off of that (hoping they get smth cool like chigiri’s guitar but more menacing considering they’re the ninja and the assassin)
icl the next installment is sooo long you don’t even know but it’s 90% crack fic NDKSJSSN like the most unserious stuff i’ve written in ages. now that karasu and reader are dating their relationship is more of an underlying support to the shenanigans the crew gets up to instead of the main focus so it’s a lot sillier and less romantic than the previous two parts. hopefully you still like it!! but either way at least you’ll have a good amt to read once i finally finish and post it
I CAN’T WAIT FOR SEASON TWO EITHER RAHHH tabieitaken…nagi and barou’s goals in the u-20 match…rin tweaking on the field…hoping beyond hope that the animation for the best moments at least is good because if they make the u-20 match goals look crusty i’ll cry. i think it’s funny how usually the anime has a much better art style than the manga but w bllk it’s the other way around!! ESPECIALLY episode nagi but honestly the art for the main manga now that it’s been developed is amazing

most are here for regular bg3 content. filter #tav rambles if you wish not to see the content about my original characters
[][][]
current list of my tavs, who are all connected in some way despite sometimes (but not always) being from different universes:
1) Esker (eh-skerr) #esker tag
- half wood elf
- agender, he/him, lesbian
- circle of the moon druid, outlander
- motivated by: kinship, peace
- relations:
he and Yarran share the same father though Esker stayed with his runaway mother in the city who died early on (likely due to the lines of work she had no choice but to participate in), leading him to venture to the woods to meet his mentor
he and Karlach have a doomed romance; i.e., can't be together; hurt by being unable to be with her and tormented by his regrets, Esker spends a night with Mizora, creating a rift between himself and Wyll and Karlach, and garnering pity from other party members. this in part dooms his sought after kinship
Esker is rather impulsive because of his unsocialized background, which sometimes undoes his efforts toward peace
he and Gale are best friends, and he can understand all of Esker's regrets
- fun facts:
he has limited understanding of gender roles and expectations given his outlander background; he is very confused why people call him "she" all the time. he simply took on the pronouns of his mentor, and they work fine for him.
he is baffled by the pursuit of wealth, material things, and private ownership. this gets him in trouble sometimes.
he does not have a tattoo, but rather it is naturally made paint he applies every morning, in the shape of his mentor's own tattoo; through this process he honors him; this is very opposite to Yarran's tattoo
he has not and will not ingest a single tadpole, viewing it to be against nature; however, he has no ill will toward his Illithid protector
on this note, he is very moral and selfless though not idiotically so; he will do what he needs to do, but often feels self doubt and regret as though he's in a too fast-paced world; the death of Halsin and permanence of the Shadow Curse haunt him every day
2) Yarran (yah-rin) #yarran tag
- zariel tiefling [half wood elf] (+ part illithid)
- male, he/him, gay
- wildheart barbarian, soldier/mercenary
- motivated by: fear, then love
relations:
he and Esker share the same father, who Yarran unfortunately stayed with most of his youth (left around 14), suffering horrid abuse and the murder of his mother before he swore to get strong, and became a mercenary
he and Gale have a committed if somewhat negatively enabling relationship, but they get better
he and Astarion are very good friends, which is funny because Esker severely dislikes him
- fun facts
he has a soft spot for children, being that he was severely abused as a child. he will do stupid things to help children, but will also tell it to them straight since it's a hard world; Mol gets a kick out of this guy
he was actually relieved to find out Astarion is a vampire; he would not tell anyone this, but he is incredibly uneasy around elves because of his father
Yarran suffered extreme anti-tiefling sentiments as a child; his father, a wood elf, forcibly had vines tattooed up his neck and face, stating that he hoped "nature drags you back into the dirt;" he lives with this marking as well the guilt of, in his view, getting his mother killed for the crime of his being born - the effects of the illithid parasite on this tattoo are poet and tragic
though he is not as connected to nature as Esker, he feels a sort of call to it to return after being in cities for most of his adult life; he sees nature as a hand to cradle him which he wants desperately to nuzzle against, but fears it will crush him like his father tried to
his ambition is rooted in his fear, and his fear and ambition grow even larger once he falls in love with Gale and finds friends in the party to protect; both he and Gale stand on a precipice - but ultimately, their ambition shifts to focus on one another as they fall deeper in love, and they pull one another back from the ruin of the Crown of Karsus and illithid transformation
3) Aisling (ash-ling) #aisling tag
- drow
- male, he/him, bisexual
- college of swords bard, urchin
- motivated by: profit/power & pleasure
- relations:
he is of lolth-sworn background, but after framing his father (leading to his death) for his abusive mother's murder, he went topside. here he learned to be a bard, combining cutthroat drow upbringing with it to serve as a valuable cover for the gang of"druidic," nomadic criminals Esker and Yarran's father leads - before he too ran from them...robbing them all the while
he and Astarion have...a relationship. they screw, they have a mutually pleasurable feeding situation. they think it's a lot more casual than it is; spoiler: it's not casual, and Astarion's fate has never been more in Aisling's hands
basically only Astarion and, to a degree, Shadowheart like Aisling due to his amorality; however, his cult-like personality ensures most of the party backs him
fun facts
not everything about drows is true - except maybe a little, because Aisling does enjoy killing; it is not exactly an urge and he won't foolishly rush into battle, but he has no qualms about getting his hands dirty, and is rather opportunistic about others' suffering at the best of times, and sadomasochistic at the worst of times
despite all the roughness, Aisling does have his softness. he is snarky and rude but also a touch hilarious. he performs well, tells stories well and likes to tell them, and genuinely loves music - and often silly songs and styles at that (he perhaps coined the heavy metal voice paired with cutesy lyrics); he simply doesnt have as much patience for others doing so, liking the spotlight
he does not often step in to stop conflict. often, he is an enabler of conflict. for this reason, the grove ends up a massacre and he urges Wyll to kill an angered Karlach (and helps). he keeps Wyll in his rather lawless party by manipulating the man's sense of self worth after the murder of Karlach, lowering it as he gets Wyll to see himself as a hypocrite sworn to a devil and therefore a devil (and later monstrous half Illithid) himself. he too allows Shadowheart to murder Lae'zel, as well as kill the Nightsong in order to become a Dark Justiciar.
he is not particularly religious because his mother was so devout to Lolth. he does not forsake Lolth but in no way worships; he wears the markings of spiders (and respects female authority much more than male) as the large spiders native to the Underdark were the scarce few friends he could find, for his magic practicing mother had potions of animal speaking always on hand
his mother would put him through spells of psychic torture and use him for experimentation, going as far as to claim never to have done anything to him. his father was complicit in this, and Aisling was half mad when he ended them. because of the psychic torture, he has frequent nightmares he must keep quiet about, but also has an advantage over the tadpole; he and Astarion bond over their unseen scars from cruel masters
4) Odesa (oh-deh-suh) #odesa tag
5) Bryndis (brihn-diss) #bryndis tag

HELPING THEM DYE THEIR HAIR !!
Tumblr media
part 1 | part 2
content : gender neutral reader, fluff, shits and giggles because i think this would be a funny experience, suggestive comments from kazutora and sanzu whoops, swearing because why not, mikey is a little ooc - he’s less traumatised in this one because i said so
characters : mikey, kazutora, sanzu
notes : wrote this because i desperately need to change my hair but i have to wait for ages and im going a little insane rn - might do part 2 with rin and ran
Tumblr media
˗ˏˋ MIKEY
- he got a haircut and he looked so good. we love short hair mikey here 👩‍💻
- he loved it too <3 it had been so long since he had short hair and he kept shaking his head around because it felt so light 💀
-then he said he wanted to dye it black and you were like oh :(( because you realised how similar his hair was to shinichiro’s
- he didn’t seem sad about it though - it was more just like a “what if i dyed my hair black it would look cool” sort of thing
- you knew it was also kinda to do with shin but you never asked him about it
- it’s a relaxing experience <3
- you do everything for him because he’s completely clueless about anything to do with hair
- he likes the smell of the dye and keeps picking up the bowl to smell it
- “why is it white if it’s black hair dye?” very confused and is very entertained by watching it turn darker on his head
- half way though his eyes are almost shut because it feels nice <3
- he kept wanting to lean back on you but every time he did he got dye on your shirt </3
- he gives you little story times about emma’s hair experiences
- “yeah, once she got it cut and she didn’t like how it looked on her… so i tried to help her but i kinda just made it worse and she cried.”
- you remember emma wearing a hat to cover her fringe for a little while because she didn’t like it so you guessed that was why
- “i thought it looked fine, but then she called hinata and she started laughing!” sits there like >:(
- he doesn’t want to get any on his forehead or around his face so he takes the brush off you and starts going around the edges - you’re surprised how careful he was
- he was so concentrated that his eyebrows furrowed and he looked so cute :((
- got annoyed when you kissed him on the cheek - “y/n, if you distract me and i get this all over my face i’ll kick you.”
- kisses you afterwards though <3
- when you’re finished you gather his hair up and put it in a blob on top of his head and he thinks it’s the funniest thing he’s ever seen
- takes pictures and sends them to his friends with no context
- he washes it out himself but doesn’t do it properly so you have to make him go back and do it again
- i know damn well he takes fast showers. stinky mikey >:(
- when you finish drying his hair and sorting it out he’s pretty quiet - you can kinda guess what he’s thinking about
- “y’look so pretty, mikey,” you kissed his cheek, “suits you.” <3
- “hm, thankyou, angel.” muah i love mikey
- calls draken later on because now they both have black hair and he’s all excited about it
- “ken-chin, we’re basically twins!”

˗ˏˋ KAZUTORA
- king has to touch up his roots - he lets them grow out really far too
- there’s just over three inches grown out and he’s like whoops i couldn’t be bothered
- prefers to do it with you because it’s more fun and he doesn’t wanna make his hair fall out - once he did it with chifuyu and they both decided that they’d never do it again
- usually gets the bleach in other parts of his hair because he isn't careful and he never puts the rest of his hair back
- you put his hair in two braids this time and he is not happy.
- “i look like that haitani motherfucker with his stupid blond strip in his hair… looks like a bee, i hope he changed it because he looked fucking stupid.” kazutora doesn’t like looking like ran
- laughs when you laugh at his insults though
- he can’t stand the smell of the bleach at all
- scrunches his nose up when he watches you mix it together
- “god, that fuckin’ stinks… it’s hurting my nose!” you agree with him on that one
- y’know how people put foil on their hair when they dye it to separate it - he does that but he didn’t know how to fold it or anything so you come back to the bathroom and he’s sat with a ball of foil on his head and his whole forehead out like “look 😁”
- embarrassed when you tell him it wasn’t necessary to do that
- he likes it when you take his hair out of the braids - he loves it when you play with his hair so he sits with his eyes half shut and smiling to himself because he’s so relaxed
- gets you to play with his hair a little extra while he’s waiting to wash it out <3
- said he showered in the morning so he was like it’s fine we can wash my hair over the bathtub
- he was giggling the whole time because it was so hard for you to wash the front of his hair from that angle and you kept slapping his forehead 💀
- “how come purple shampoo doesn’t turn your hair purple if it’s got all that purple pigment stuff in it?” not now kazutora.
- gets water in his eyes on top of it all
- enjoys having you wash his hair though - even though it’s chaotic it makes him feel all fluffy n shit inside <3
- it’s so fun and you’re both just laughing the whole time :(
- when you’re finished he wraps his hair up in a towel and he looks so cute
- “my knees hurt from kneeling down, is this how you feel sometimes?”
- boy.
- anyways his hair didn’t fall out and now he’s getting you to dry his hair for him too <3
˗ˏˋ SANZU
- “i’m gonna dye my hair pink.”
- when sanzu first said that you couldn’t imagine him with pink hair at all. if anything you thought he would dye his hair black or something darker
- now you can’t picture sanzu without pink hair
- but because of the colour it fades quickly and ehm.. because sanzu’s natural hair colour is so light if you let it grow out too far..
- it literally looks like he’s going BALD
- like as soon as he decides that you have to dye it thats when you do it no questions asked
- you’re busy and can’t do it today? okay, sanzu will just drag you there by the leg don’t worry
- he always mixes the dye though because he’s really particular about the colour - like there’s a certain ratio he has memorised, mostly because the first time he did it he almost looked like a highlighter and he didn’t like how bright it was
- “the fuck are you putting on gloves for?” believes in dyeing hair with bare hands
- he does the top and front of his hair whilst you to the back
- always puts on music because he finds dyeing his hair kinda boring
- makes your life ten times harder though because he leans over every 2 seconds to change the song or he keeps moving his head around to the beat of the music
- “haru, stop moving your head! i can’t do this properly if you keep moving.”
- “just move with me then, sweets.” he’s so annoying <3
- he does that thing where you kinda swing your head to one side and then the other and clicks his fingers to the beat of the song as a joke and he looks like a complete moron - makes you laugh though
- it’s his version of ‘dad dancing’ he says
- once all the dye is on he can’t leave his hair alone and has to keep messing with it
- “it’s fucking itchy.” he says whilst pushing the short parts of his hair up like a spike…
- it gets all over his forehead and hands and it doesn’t come off when you wash it
- “looks like i fucked a fairy or something.” he knows what he means
- “what?”
- it also gets in one of his eyebrows <3 when he sees it he just stops and goes :0
- you’re giggling because you know that it’s not gonna come out for a while and you’re trying to tell him it’s fine, his hair kinda covers it so it’s okay
- he let an intrusive thought win and just dips his fingers in the left over dye and rubs it in.
- “i said it would wash out, why did you do that?” you’re trying not to cackle at him because he just realised what he did
- “fuck.”
- he had pink eyebrows for almost 2 weeks after that
- ran and rindou will never let him hear the end of it.

So out of nowhere I was tagged and quoted by a SR shipper for a blog of mine posted in August of last year. Talk about throwback but, hey, gotta appreciate that level of snooping. 😉
Back in the day I actually used to encourage discourse amongst Inuyasha fans- both shippers and antis alike- but I've since realized that it's a lost cause. But for you, @feministmetalgreymon , I'll grant this exception. Just 'cause it's been a while so why the hell not. haha
I want to assure you, however, that nothing you say will ever convince me that Sesshomaru and Rin are meant to be together romantically or that the story intended it so. Nor will you find any validation here. You can ship them for all I care, but please for all that is good and holy while I have your attention try- I mean really try- to understand why it is so many of us Inuyasha fans are so against this pairing in the first place (newsflash: it's not about ship wars), and why we believe a romance between the two of them is completely and utterly out of character.
For those of you interested in reading this, the blog of mine in question that the above shipper mentions in their counter-argument is here for reference. It's titled "Jaken = Rin's Dad?" I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'm also making no such promises. After all, I'm not exactly known for my brevity. haha Now let's get crackin'!
Like you, feministmetalgreymon, did for your recent blog here where you took screenshots of mine to address certain parts, I will be doing the same and dissecting yours accordingly.

I worked with kids for many years as a teacher, and many people in my family have too or still do. Two of them happen to be just over 5 feet which is quite short for the average adult woman living here. I've also worked alongside many a women of short stature, and never did I hear any of them complaining of issues with their students having difficulty differentiating them from their own peers just because they were short as well. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Kids are quite smart and pick up on a lot more than you seem to give them credit for. Height is not the only characteristic they look at to determine who's an adult and who's not, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise. So unless you're a babysitter who's still in their teens and/or who has very childlike features or behavior then I'm afraid what you're getting at is total hogwash. This is just another example of how you shippers offer nothing of real substance to your reasoning, it's only ever cherry-picking or strawmanning from you guys. Stop deflecting from the real issues please, because this certainly isn't one and only winds up being a complete waste of time for all parties involved.
[Snippet 2]
Tumblr media
Okay, calm down now. I wasn't insinuating that relationships between parents and children can't change over time in terms of how they get along. Of course that's possible, as all families experience their fair share of estrangement and abuse. What I was speaking about was in reference to the overall dynamic between the two. Because a bad mother or father can still be viewed as a parental figure to their child even if say they're not in said child's life anymore. Since Sesshomaru and Rin share a healthy bond- and just a friendly reminder that in my blog I even said that he doesn't have to necessarily be labeled her father but that a romantic relationship later would still be inappropriate- I didn't deem it necessary to address what you brought up. Plus, it kinda, umm, misses the point?? Please, let's stay on topic. And it's not captured in the screenshot, but stop acting like there isn't a small part of them that idolizes their parents at some point during childhood. Just like you mention later on how it's normal for kids to have innocent crushes on adults that they eventually grow out of? Well, guess what, the same concept applies here. Kids eventually learn that their parents are far from perfect and make mistakes too. Rin is so damn young in the OG series though that we never even get to see her reach that maturity level.
[Snippet 3]
Tumblr media
LOL! Alright, okay, so the "unbreakable bond" bit you're mentioning was actually me quoting you sessrinners. Did you not catch that? I literally spelled it out. *sigh* The whole point I was making is that shippers like yourself make hypocritical and contradictory statements all.the.goddamn.time. One moment you guys claim that Sesshomaru and Rin were essentially strangers and meant very little to each other, only to say in the same breath a few seconds later that they were destined to be together and their bond is like no other. I agree, their bond is special, but why must that mean they're going to fall in love?
That is the root of the matter here. Too many animes/mangas have romanticized this older adult man & young girl growing up falling in love trope that it's become way too normalized and widely accepted across the world- and yes, in some cultures more than others. Sadly, you lack the awareness to recognize how this all works. You know how we know that? When we see that you shippers are so desensitized to sexualized images of girls in the media that you share posts like this one below which *subtly* imply a future romance although one half of that pairing is still just a child in the pic and then try and pass it off as cute. That's like super fucking problematic and it scares me that you can't see that (or deny you do). 🤢
Tumblr media
After all that's said and done, Sesshomaru leaving Rin in the village with Kaede is to me the strongest indicator more than pretty much anything else he's done for Rin that proves he is her adoptive father. It's so funny to me how you somehow see the exact opposite though. 🤔 What I think is happening is that you got yourself on some squeaky clean ass shipper goggles fresh out of your little echo chamber. Because I hate to tell you, but what you're fantasizing is what you want to see and not what's actually there on screen or was written into the story. I'm strictly talking about Inuyasha and the manga of course. [For the TL; DR version skip to the last paragraph.]
Parents looking after their kids is what parents are supposed to do. A good parent will do anything to keep their child safe and ensure they are cared for, so what he did for her by leaving her there was in her best interests clearly. Besides, as a babysitter, you more than most people should understand that parents aren't always able to be there for their kids so sometimes others gotta step in to help. Haven't you heard of the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Which in Rin's case is literally true! 😂 Sometimes kids are even sent off to stay with grandparents and that's who raises them instead. Or maybe they have to temporarily live with an aunt or uncle because their single parent's job requires they work out of town 4-5 days of the week so they're hardly home. But that doesn't mean that the parents care or love their kids any less, and it's foolish to assume that Sesshomaru must have thought very little of Rin simply due to the fact that he made the decision to leave her in the village. Come on, y'all are acting like he abandoned her there!!
It's just given the circumstances Sesshomaru finally came to learn that Rin traveling with him was no longer safe. I also like to think it's because he wished for her to live a more normal life and to learn how to fully trust humans again. Plus, continuing to travel with him as young as she was would have proven dangerous and unwise. Now for you to know all this and still manage to turn his past actions towards her while she was just a child into a romantic gesture is what boggles my mind. Regardless of how you look at it, from my perspective or your own, Sesshomaru is in the wrong. Either he's a father figure who impregnates his daughter at the young age of approximately 14. OR he's this man she used to travel with who maybe isn't a father to her but who nonetheless basically rapes her since kids her age can't consent to sex with an adult. Idk about you but it sounds to me like nobody here wins with either scenario we're given. In other words, you should be just as mad as we are. If only one side didn't choose to forsake their morals they know we both have in common for the sake of a ship. Welp. 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
I agree, incest is disgusting but that's not the only problem we have with this pairing. A romantic bond forming between Sesshomaru and Rin would also constitute as grooming.
You realize that over the years he visited her in the village that he brought her gifts too and essentially watched her grow up right before his very eyes, right? I mean, I know you do, but I really shouldn't have to explain further why pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with each other is plain and simple wrong. And before you say it's not because he didn't have any malintent, please understand that considering their history and power dynamic up to then that yes this is still considered grooming even if Rin supposedly "wanted it" or "made the first move." Whether you consider him her father or not, as the adult who took on a role resembling that of a caretaker in her early life- a critical developmental time for a child- Sesshomaru is obligated to turn down any advances by Rin and most definitely should not initiate any himself. As the first close adult figure she's had in her life since her parents died, it's unfathomable to imagine how Sesshomaru could go through with taking advantage of this young girl who was under his care and supervision since they met. To think he could be capable of betraying that trust sickens me to the core.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This. Now THIS is how a parent/guardian or a similar adult caretaker (babysitter, teacher, etc.) talks to a child. And, in turn, this is how some young children talk to adults. You'd be insane and delusional to deny it! We see it in our everyday lives, do we not? From where else do you think our stories draw most of their inspiration? Yes, obviously these fictional universes have aspects of fantasy that don't exist in the real world, but so how then do you suppose we're able to relate to them? The reason for that being is because these stories are written by people for people, so naturally there are going to be real life aspects embedded throughout. Sure, a little escapism doesn't hurt as we don't need to take everything so seriously, but ultimately we all need to recognize that the messages in the stories we tell matter. Most stories possess a combination of both light and dark themes, but when it specifically comes to the latter we gotta be careful with how we tackle this in children's media since kids are far more impressionable.
So if at the center of a story we have two of the main protagonists whose mom is basically their same age and to top it off she knew their dad when she was just a girl and who just so happened to help raise her, wouldn't you say that's beyond fucked up or at the very least so fucking weird? Like why would we think it's even remotely okay for our children to watch this garbage?? Really think about it. Try and be objective for once and think about how it would sound explaining this storyline to an outsider who's never watched IY or HNY. Well, antis have tried this before many times and we always get the same reaction: Ewww!
Like I said earlier, if you wanna ship it then fine, but 1) please stop seeking our approval or trying to change our minds - your ship wish came true didn't it, so why do you need us to validate it? 2) even though it's not canon, respect that we don't support this sequel portraying pedophilia in a positive light. It's harmful af to not only allow but glorify the continuation of sexualized images of young girls everywhere. And I shouldn't have to say this, but just because this trope is popular as you say does not make it right. Lolicon themes in the media have been an issue forever and it needs to stop. Yes, even some people in Japan or "the East" would agree. Shocker!
We're pissed off and rightfully so because Yashahime's TV rating is 14, not to mention it airs at the prime time kids in Japan watch TV after getting home from school. That's Towa and Setsuna's age, true, but if Rin being the mom when she's like only a year older than them (please don't argue w/ me about the math- antis have so far been right every time with it) is straight-up disgusting and not something we should be supporting or endorsing. Rin's a whole ass child!! Please don't start with the "but times were different then so her having kids at 15 is acceptable" argument either, because we've already debunked that and every other single excuse you guys throw at us. Besides, how or why would you expect young viewers to know these historical "facts" anyway, especially if as you suggest fiction doesn't affect reality so what does it matter? Yet here we are, arguing over a fictional show in real life almost a year and a half into the "Sesshomaru fucks?" sequel being announced. My ass, your ass, hell all our asses fiction doesn't affect reality!
Look, I do apologize if the tone of this blog came off as snippy or condescending at times. I do not wish you any ill will, it's just I'm not really sure what you expected to get out of all this besides maybe getting on my nerves perhaps. haha A lot of you shippers have been desperately scrambling to interact with us, lurking in our tags, jumping onto our posts screaming canon and getting so defensive even though you sought us out first. We've been sticking to our tags, so how about you stay in your lane too. By the way since we're on the topic, have you seen Twitter or Reddit?! SR shippers there are the actual worst and many Inuyasha fans (not just antis) have complained of not feeling welcomed to engage in fandom spaces anymore. Shippers swarm them and scare them off simply because fans don't like your ship and refuse to accept it. It's pathetic, really. No one should ever be bullied or harassed just because they don't like something you might. We're all fans of Inuyasha, aren't we? So let's act like it. Yashahime on the other hand, you guys are welcome to that pungent heap of trash. Fans have a right to criticize it too, but if you like it then good for you, so keep on liking it and don't mind us.
Tumblr media
I'm almost done, but real quick back to Jaken! Let's not forget about how the official Yashahime website- which came out after my blog, mind you- described Jaken. This translation isn't the best one available but it's the only version a fellow anti friend could track down. They do recall a better one done by a native Japanese speaker who was also an anti, and that member confirmed that Jaken is indeed called Rin's babysitter. So you see, I was right in my interpretation. In the original post I did compare Jaken to a brother, but after talking to others (some comments can be found under said post) I did acknowledge that he's more of a reluctant babysitter who's not related. And if he's not at least a brother to Rin, then he's definitely not her father.
At the end of the day, the creator Rumiko Takahashi has the final word. Which is guess what? Hogosha. 💖 Probably should've just started out with that and saved us all the trouble, huh? Good day/night to you.
Papamaru bids you adieu now. 🤞

Furuba autistic headcanons
With it being April, or autism acceptance month, I wanted to finally drop my list of characters from Fruits Basket that I read as autistic! This is based a lot on my own experience, as well as that of other autistics I know or have seen talk online. I hope some people can get something out of it, feel free to tell me what you think 😊, though please refrain from getting upset that I would dare suggest your fave is autistic.
Hanajima
Before becoming able to better control her powers, she would be constantly overwhelmed by the things she heard to the point that she couldn't even really go out in public. This reads a lot like sensory overload.
Constantly picked on in school because other kids thought she was weird. Eventually reclaimed this weirdness and turned it into a whole persona.
Seems to talk usually in a relatively flat tone.
Had trouble socializing with no friends outside her family until middleschool.
Has a very funny, dry sense of humor that I find very similar to a bunch of autistics I know, including myself.
Hatsuharu
Listen. You have seen the funky little man, you have seen the way he talks, the way he acts around others. He is, and I mean this in the best way, a weirdo. I do not know how you could look at him and see a neurotypical.
Once again, like Hana, Haru is funny in a way that feels very autistic.
Very flat, dry, tone delivery. Sometimes just Says Things that make everyone else go huh??? Suuuuper blunt. Doesn't emote facially a lot of the time.
When this man sees a social norm he doesn't get he WILL NOT follow it. Pierces his ears just because his hair got flak, defends Momiji wearing whatever he wants because sometimes y'know the social rules are just dumb and don't make sense. Especially dress codes.
Sometimes says things not befitting the current tone of the situation.
Represses (masks) a lot of his emotions, leading to outbursts that seem uncharacteristic.
His main childhood trauma revolves around adults branding him as "dumb" and ridiculing him. Haru, however, is super smart and wise!! Just in an offbeat way that not everyone may get.
Machi
Reads as very "flat" emotionally to the point that others would call her boring. Also has a flat vocal delivery.
Relies on specific habits or ways of doing things or else she gets super upset (her hatred of imperfection.
Has trauma surrounding adults completely misconstruing her intentions and thinking she's doing something malicious when she's not.
Generally behaves in a way that's hard for others to understand, one of her formative moments with Yuki was him saying he wanted to "see how the world looks" through her eyes.
Once again, trouble socializing.
Tries super hard to please her parents but in the end they still see her as somehow inherently "defective."
Listen. A lot of this one and the last two are mostly vibes, hard to verbally define. You just have to look at them and trust me.
Tohru
Displays behavior very reminiscent of masking throughout the story, a huge part of her arc is about how she hides a lot of herself and has a very controlled persona. I think it would fit very well if she had other autistic behaviors that she suppresed also it helps explain why she is relatively socially adept, it's learned behavior to make people like her more.
Yes she is very good at saying what others need to hear, but especially early on she is pretty blatantly imitating her mother's words. She only gets better at getting through on a more personal level later on (see her with Rin and Akito v. early series Tohru). She does this by relating her own experiences, a very autistic way of showing empathy that often gets us written off as self centered. The way she relays things her mom said could also be seen as this, and she even worries at a few points that she's being insensitive for going on about things like that.
While emotionally repressed she is hyper empathetic and feels other's emotions so strongly she cries.
Her speech patterns are all imitated from her father and she often copies verbal things from others (see Ritchan-san). Noted in canon that people think her way of speaking is slightly off/not befitting of someone her age. Additionally, her father was polite more sarcastically, while she plays it straight and sometimes takes things very literally or fails to get the message, indicating trouble with reading tone. Has numerous strange verbal tics, including saying parts of her internal monologue out loud without context.
Very expressive with her hands including waving them around and flapping them up and down.
Does have a bit of trouble with accidental insensitivity in social interactions, like how she constantly fixates on her mom and realizes that might bug the Sohma.
Has trouble paying attention in school since it doesn't have much to do with her interests
Her only friend until she was a middle schooler was her mom
Has a pretty unique outlook on things compared to others, people seem to think she's pretty eccentric. There's always a "this girl is nice but in an odd way, she's our weirdo and we love her" vibe.
Sometimes has an "inappropriate" emotional response to situations
Has a lot of trouble with change, similar to Akito. Which oh, look at the time, next hc coming up.
But first, a disclaimer. It is cathartic for me to read Akito this way, but with that reading comes the baggage that she would, mayhaps, be showing a more negative side of things... It doesn't bother me since it's a joint hc with other characters and she does develop at the end but yeah, general villain hc baggage. This is in no way me trying to excuse her being The Worst being autistic doesn't absolve you of being able to do wrong . Also, a lot of these points can and do have other explanations related to her upbringing, but things can be for more than 1 reason. With that said, she really strongly comes off as autistic to me, in a way that's sorta hard to explain. I wrote a lot more for her than the other, both because I felt I needed more to convince people and that this headcanon was more sensitive and I needed to be careful in my explanation. Also hey! She's my special interest within a special interest.
Akito
Shown to have a dislike of summer weather due to heat and brightness, could be due to sensory issues in tandem with sickness things. Also covers her ears when people raise their voice sometimes which is partially her trying to shut down opposition but also 🤔 can read a different way. She'd also avoids louder Juuni like Ritsu and Ayame because she can't handle them.
Wears pretty much the same outfit every single day. Said outfit is also pretty loose fitting.
Always seen sitting in a pretty unconventional way. Evidence:
Tumblr media
Of course this is also the isolated in a cult thing and there is a level of her purposefully doing things to intimidate but: doesn't follow a lot of social rules (overly touchy with strangers, legit doesn't get that what she's doing is wrong, ect.). Repeatedly confused when people indicate she should act otherwise without explanation. Has a breakdown when this comes to a head and approximately says that "they" shouldn't expect her to know "common sense" if "they" never explained it to her, that the way that she was was her "common sense."
Often talks in a way uncharacteristic of her age when shown as a child in a more faux mature/pretentious way. Might just be the translation and idk how to explain it but her speech as an adult also seems off from what one would normally use in conversation. Additionally, when she tries to fake being friendly in her intro chapter, it comes of as extremely stiff and unconvincing.
Generally displays behavior that could be thought of as childish as an adult, but a lot of this behavior could also read as autistic (covering ears, emotional deregulation and meltdowns, ignorance of basic social norms, ect.). It's also important to note that she knows that this behavior makes her seem younger and more helpless to the older zodiac and uses it as a manipulation tactic. Has issues regarding people treating her like a child or only hanging out with her because of pity. While she does weaponize it, we can tell that this grates on her, as seen with her finally blowing up on Kureno, which is partially triggered by the maids saying some sorta infantalizing stuff about her. Irl, a lot of autistic adults and teens struggle with being infantalized for our behavior generally or treated as little babies that can do no wrong. Even in fandom, you see people doing stuff like jumping to call autistic adult characters, such as Entrapta from Shera, "minor coded." It is also common for us to have at least one bad experience with someone hanging around us out of pity. This is something that really gave me a similar feeling in Akito's arc. She's not a baby and she can understand and do better if she is given the chance to learn and break from all the freaky cult indoctrination she's been subjected to instead of just being constantly enabled. In the end, a lot of her growth is represented by her showing that she is capable of changing and being independent.
Shows particular difficulty with socialization, often sits by herself spacing out at social events. A lot of her fear is rooted in the fact that she doesn't know how normal relationships work, becoming overly reliant on the curse because she doesn't know how to make friends.
Clings desperately onto the notion of being "special" and in some way superior to others to be worthy and to make up for perceived inherent "flaws." It's the nd gifted kid burnout vibes for me.
Easily bothered by things that don't bother others. Feels emotions very strongly to the point of getting physically ill and has bad emotional regulation.
Relatively good at reading others in an analytical sense (though has more trouble when it comes to seeing how they feel about her since she's wildly delusional) but brings up her observations in a very cold, detached way and hurts people even on the rare occasion she didn't mean to. Has extreme trouble connecting to others and understanding their point of view. This makes her come off as pretty unempathetic even though that might not fully be the case. Also thinks that people like Momiji are trying to look down on her when they try to empathize with her. A lot of why Tohru can get through to her is that she manages to convince Akito that she's not condescending by relating shared traits and experiences. As I said earlier, autistics often empathize by sharing their own experiences with someone, and I know I often have an easier time confiding in other autistics because of a fear of being seen as lesser by those that don't understand me. I think the connection between these charachters and the way that Tohru manages to reach Akito like that while others couldn't makes a lot of sense through an autistic lense!
Additionally, when Akito herself gets around to trying to help others instead of just projecting trauma, she tries to reach out to the old maid by relating back to her own experiences. This however, doesn't work.
Has "cold" emotional reactions sometimes even to things that do make her upset. For example, how sort of calm and detached she acted after her father's death can make her seem uncaring. However, we know that this event did mess her up a lot and she is still (poorly) dealing with a lot of grief from the death of her father years later.
Copies mannerisms from others, the most blatant example is with Ren, who she directly parrots lines from as a child to Yuki.
Partly just her posturing, but gestures a lot with her hands when she talks. Also seen several times clutching her hands in her hair.
Deals extremely poorly with the idea of things changing to the point that it is a driving force of the story.
Does not understand when people tease her.
Ect. Ect. Ect. Listen, I could go on for ages but just trust me, the mean gremlin lady is autistic.

I have arrived at the Yashahime is Over Party! I never, ever wanted a sequel, I was much happier with my own opinions and headcanons as to what happened after the show was over. (As I'm sure many fans were.) InuYasha has always been this great, big sandbox, where you can do whatever you want. Yashahime basically came in and stomped on everybody's fun time, so now I'm just trying to rebuild what I had! This rewrite isn't exactly my thoughts to a T on what I think should have happened at the end, rather, I tried to keep in mind the premise of Yashahime and just... fix it!
I know that my likes and opinions tend to be a bit disjointed from the rest-- for example, I LOVED the filler episodes. To this day, some of my favorite episodes that I go back to rewatch have been filler. I like slow and steady, I like lots and lots of dialogue. But Yashahime? Not like this. Never like this. For my rewrite, this is no longer a fantasy romance action adventure whatever. This is slice of life.
Tumblr media
For my rewrite, Moroha becomes the main character. The story follows her as she travels around Japan, basically meeting old friends of her folks, and meeting some new ones along the way. InuKag and MirSan live generally happy, peaceful lives, with the Root Head demon being the last of their major problems for a long while.
I love the idea that with InuYasha and Kagome being a committed couple in an "unusual" relationship with an "unusual" daughter, Kaede's village over time becomes a safe haven for weak demons, half demons, and like-minded humans. It expands into a vast and bustling town, with plenty of colorful characters in addition.
Sango spends a lot of her day training Hisui and Gyokoto. She doesn't go out herself much anymore, and has basically passed the torch to her children and, of course, younger brother. Her time is mostly spent now creating and repairing weapons, though her real passion is in experimenting with fabrics to create stronger, more resistant material. Miroku continues to travel (so long as he stops by to say hello to his wife once and awhile) alongside his daughter Kin'u, who basically apprentices under him. He's so proud of who she's become.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moroha is at that age where she longs to see the world outside their humble home. She packs her things, says goodbye to her mom and dad, and sets off. I can totally see her keeping the bounty hunter job as it would be a great way for her to make money on her own. And with her being loved and reasonably fed, whenever she loses a head, it can *actually* be funny. She still uses the rouge to become Beniyasha in tough times, but without the red pearl. (No pearls in this, the pearls are stupid.) She made a promise with her momma to only use the rouge in DIRE situations, since it can be dangerous. Of course, she's looked over by grandpa Myoga... and Shippo!
Tumblr media
Shippo is much older now, but given that he's a demon (and I do subscribe to the demons age slower HC, despite the shit I give it) he appears to be around, or a little younger than Moroha. They're about equal in power which means they have to work together a lot to get out of sticky situations. They act as brother and sister since Shippo was basically adopted by InuKag, so there's no romance between them. It's purely familial.
Over the course of the series, Moroha meets old characters, both filler and canon, from the OG series. (Some Shippo recognizes, some he doesn't.) They help out with whatever problem-of-the-week is going on, as the episodes are primarily laid back and focused more on character interaction and development. They meet old faces like Jineji, Botan and Momiji, Kanta, Bunza, and even Shiori!
Tumblr media
Shiori would have an episode or two, going more in depth on half demons and their human nights.
To keep the "mystery" aspect Sunrise TRIED to do while also putting a long term goal/conflict in the show to prevent it from getting boring, I would include Towa/Setsuna. But here's the kick-- I would combine them into one character.
Tumblr media
Zetsumetsuko would sometimes run into our main cast and cause issues, mostly based on what the audience infers is some kind of misunderstanding or jealousy. This character will butt heads with Moroha, similar to how InuYasha and Sesshomaru were, but with her having a bit more sass.
Moroha says they smell familiar, but she can't place her finger on it. Zetsumetsuko tends to say some cryptic stuff, saying she knows some info that Moroha doesn't. This character is basically a wild card, and is to keep the audience on their toes. It is of course, later revealed that this character is the daughter of Sesshomaru. (Not that it's hard to guess, haha.) It happens when the main cast run into Rin. Zetsumetsuko appears to try and cause more trouble, only for Rin to excitedly shout, "Sister!" And begin doting upon her.
Tumblr media
With tensions eased, the characters manage to sit and chat calmly. Zetsumetsuko feels like she doesn't belong, and struggles to find a place in the world similar to InuYasha. They barely knew their own father, raised primarily by Rin and Jaken. She doesn't even know her own mother. Zetsumetsuko has been following Moroha out of a sense of jealousy, since they're related but their paths have been so different. She basically reveals how lonely she's been, too. Which leads to her joining the group!
I wanted to introduce Zetsumetsuko as the daughter of Sesshomaru at the same time I introduced Rin as her sister, basically cutting Rin out of the running for potential mother right away.
The mother would be Kagura, who... I don't have a design for, ah! I heard a lot of talk and rumors about Kagura having become a goddess and I think I would apply that idea to my rewrite. It would explain why Kagura wasn't around for Zatsumetsuko growing up. Ah, now I have to make a Goddess!Kagura design, hahaha.
In conclusion, my sequel would be made purely for nostalgia's sake. No retcons, barely even touching the original plot of InuYasha. It would be a way to see the old cast through new characters, who would be charming in their own right without relying on their parents, and would allow us to revisit one-off and filler characters again. The sequel wouldn't be a necessary watch to enjoy InuYasha, it would just be a way for fans to go, "Oh, I remember that character! Good times!"
That's about it! I worked really hard on the character designs and thinking about their personalities and how they fit in, so if you haven't yet, it would be nice if you took a look at the links I put in and read a bit more about their characters! Please feel free to ask questions, I'm not the best at explaining myself at length since my mind gets jumbled, haha.
Thank you!

Yay! The newbie (me) has finished 10 korean dramas
....... and here are my ratings.
- Ratings for: W - Two Worlds | Extraordinary You | Bring it on, ghost! | Hotel del Luna | The Tale of Nok-du | Run On | Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung | Romance is a Bonus Book | Radio Romance | A Love So Beautiful
- Also mentioned: Memories of the Alhambra | My Country - The New Age | Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol | Signal | Mr. Queen | Tale of the Nine Tailed | Goblin | My First First Love | Moon Lovers | The Crowned Clown
Let’s rate from worst to best:
________________________
10) Romance is a Bonus Book. Rating: 2,1 / 5 stars - skip it.
- I kept seeing this show on my dash and since my first kdrama watch was W Two Worlds with the wonderful Lee Jong-suk, I decided to give it a chance.
- But hell, no one warned me how bad it actually is. I’m not talking about the acting (the cast is actually quite solid), but I’m referring to... the plot (or lack thereof), the love story (let’s rather call it one-sided obsession) and the wasted potential. Let’s start with the set-up. A company producing books, a single mother who needs a job, her childhood best friend who works for the company. Yeah, it’s not precisely complex or inventive, but it’s something to work with. Create nice dynamics at the working place, have some yearning between the two leads, give them heartwarming moments and a confession of how they’ve always been in love with each other. There’s just one problem: she really never, ever had any romantic feelings for her childhood best friend. She keeps calling him a brother and insists on him being her closest friend (which seems a stretch since she lied to him for a year about her separation from her husband and kept sort of creeping up into his house to eat and shower there without letting him know). Anyway, I could oversee this (even though I hate the trope of childhood best friends becoming lovers in adult life just because one is a man and the other a woman) if AT LEAST we actually get to see her falling for him slowly within the show. But we just.... don’t. He confesses his love to her - as she is actually starting to see someone else, and let me tell you, she actually seemed to be into the second lead -, then promises her not to push his feelings onto her... but that’s exactly what he does (I guess I don’t need to mention I ended up not being his biggest fan), and she ends up falling for him for unknown reasons. Eh. Okay. I started rooting for the second leads halfway into the show. Hae-rin & Eun-ho as well as Seo-joo & Dan-i appeared to me as the much more shippable pairings. I might have actually cried for Hae-rin & Eun-ho at some point of the show, but well... Moving on to... everything else. I enjoyed some scenes in the company, but not enough that I could tell you any right now because there wasn’t anything very memorable. The show basically thrives in some random scenes usually involving one of the two leads rather than in scenes with the two of them. That random author’s suicide has stuck with me as well as the letters that song hae-rin has wrote to our male lead over the years. The talk about fears between eun-ho and that author has stuck with me too, but other than that... there’s just nothing really happening. I was patiently waiting for a plot to come but nothing ever came. It just feels like a bunch of really uninteresting subplots put into one show. I don’t wanna judge it too harshly, but one of the other modern day dramas I will discuss further down this list also simply works with a bunch of subplots coming together - and it’s wonderfully executed (it’s ‘Run On’, for those of you who are wondering!)
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Positive: nice friendship between women (dan-i & hae-rin); delivery of lee jong-suk, jeong eu-gene & park gyu-young; one strong scene involving a life lesson every few eps
- Negative: no main plot, dull subplots... nothing happens, very cheesy at some points, the protagonizing couple is quite problematic and unshippable, their chemistry is not strong enough to oversee that; i really don’t know why people like this show.
_____________
9) Radio Romance. Rating: 3,2 / 5 stars - it’s cute.
- Radio Romance is the show on this list that drives me into conflict with myself. Because some things about this show are very strong; others (many) very, very weak. I guess the main problem is that the show’s set-up mostly shouldn’t be taken too seriously, but it deals with some heavy topics that need to be taken seriously. And unlike quality japanese animes or some quality chinese drama that usually achieve to make you realize what can be taken as a joke and what can not, Radio Romance is sort of incapable of keeping that balance. You gotta figure it for yourself.
- While offering a quite enjoyable cast and some quite different personalities within the show, there is no one particularly standing out. As you will see as we go further down on this list, this is not my only Kim So-hyun drama, it was also not my first, and I can promise you that it won’t be my last. I simply adore this actress, she’s enjoyable to watch. I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of her, which is why I checked out the show in the first place. Compared to her other characters though, Song Geu-rim is kind and nice and all, but not too memorable. She’s portraying a nice girl next door here with a dream to become a good radio script writer. And if not even her character stands out, as expected, none of the others will either. As for the plot... We don’t really have one, I suppose. If you count the plot making the radio show, I suppose then episode 3 or 4 is the last with actual development. I was hoping for more conflicts and plot twists involving Soo-ho’s backstory - and we got them, but very, very, very late on the show. Basically, getting through the first 7 eps felt very easy to me, due to the change of locations and relationship growth, and getting through the last 3 as well. Although the last was such a cheesy ending, you have no idea. The middle part suffered from a lack of plot and character development as well as it suffered from a focus on the love triangle - which I totally could have lived without. Like, istg, what was the POINT of this love triangle? Soo-ho and Geu-rim had to deal with enough things already, bringing in yet another obstacle through the tercero and putting the focus onto this love triangle was just soooo cliché. And don’t even get me started on how they also went with the problematic love triangle tropes rather than to at least make it somewhat adorable or funny. It was also boring. I kept pausing the episodes there and didn’t keep watching for days. It was only at the end of episode 13 that things finally got interesting again when we finally got to learn more about Soo-ho’s backstory. From then on, I was able to end the show within 2 days. So, no, the backstory was not the thing that drives me into conflict though. What drives me into conflict is how such a quite flat story was able to portray a very good, very realistic case of depression and PTSD. Like wow. This must have been one of the few shows, in which we have a canonically diagnosed character who does not fall into stereotypes and in which his depression isn’t used as a mere plot device to get the ship together and cure him by that. His depression is underlying at all times, sometimes more, sometimes less. He is told to get treatment (”no treatment, no medication.”), he has moments in which his depression mentally and physically restrains him from acting. It’s a very layered, realistic depiction and I adored every single bit of it. Meanwhile, the character isn’t defined by his depression nevertheless - there’s more to Soo-ho then just the depression, and after all, he was an outstanding character (to correct what I said before because I was lying xD). So... for all the lack of plot and development and predictable storytelling, the depiction of depression and the peacefulness of the protagonizing couple save that show.
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Negative: unnecessary love triangles with unnecessary clichés; barely any plot; sheer boredom in the middle of the show; takes itself and its tropes way too seriously.
- Positive: complex character who is suffering from depression and PTSD; layered, realistic depiction of depression; adorable couple that transmits peacefulness.

8) Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung. Rating: 3,5 / 5 stars - nice, but it is no must-watch.
- I feel genuinely bad for putting this right after Radio Romance and Romance is a Bonus Book, because Rookie Historian was, simply put, muuuuuuuuch better. I got invested in the characters and their backstories. The story is quite more complex in retrospect than it seemed at first, but the show’s issue is that this is rather less apparent in more than the first quarter of the show. I really don’t even recall what happened in those first few episodes because it is rather unimportant for the rest of the show, with minor exceptions. The story truly starts picking up around episode 9 and has a strong run until around episode 15. The last quarter of the show then is wayyyyy too fast-moving, too many things happening and we barely spend time on things I then wished to spend more time on. Unfortunately, despite having a good set-up and a quite fine cast, I don’t think I’ll remember anything in particular about this show in a year. It’s a nice watch, even though I sometimes really had to motivate myself to keep watching in the first eps, but it hasn’t lingered in my memory after I finished it.
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Positive: rather lots of plot; positive female relationships; feminism; shin se-kyung; leading couple as well as the second leading couple, even though romance is not at the core of the show; nice messages about morality and truth.
- Negative: the first few eps are really.... slow-moving. To the point that I’d recommend putting the first 8 eps into 2-3 eps and giving more space in the end. Especially the last 4 eps of the show are way too fast-moving. Furthermore, there’s some plotholes. My biggest issue though is the glorification of europe's christianity during the 18th and 19th century. I was not expecting that in a korean drama but it seemed utterly wrong in my eyes, specifically because the show used it to promote that chrisitianity promotes equality of all races and genders. Not to be a bitch, but europe’s christian beliefs have never stopped europeans from discriminating women and non-white people, not then and not now.
- My general impression of the show is quite positive, but I’m not sure I’d willingly watch it again since knowing all the plot twists and storylines actually is enough to be watched once with that show. An experience that I haven’t made with the other kdramas that are higher ranked on this list.
____________________
7) A Love So Beautiful. Rating: 3,5 / 5 stars - if you really don’t want to think at all and just watch a light, easy to follow show, that is your pick. However, NOT recommended for first-time kdrama watchers - it gives you a totally wrong impression of what kdramas are actually capable of achieving.
- I’d like to point out that this show has surprised me in a good way - but there’s things that need to be pointed out here, so let me make three paragraphs: the first will talk about my impression of the first 16 eps; the second will talk about the last 8 eps; and the last will talk about how this show was cute, but could have been incredible, but didn’t use its potential correctly.
- Episodes 1-16: Look, the thing about those eps is very easy to point out: it’s not quality and it is never pretending to be (unlike romance is a bonus book, which pretends to be some smart, adult quality show but is just trash). Those eps cannot be taken totally serious. You have to go in there knowing exactly what is awaiting you. I started it because when I saw the trailer, I immediately realized all the tropes that Extraordinary You (higher ranked, you will see later) was making fun of. What you see is exactly what you get: Clichéd characters, clichéd love story, average acting, average directing, simple dialogue, clichéd love triangle, predictable developments - a simple romcom put into a tv show format. It’s cliché over cliché over cliché put into a het high school love story. And you know what? After weeks of studying for and writing my uni exams, it was exactly what I needed. The show is so over the top with its clichés that it’s genuinely funny. The lightheartedness and the non-existing complexity just add to that. Basically, you could argue that it’s all so bad with its clichés, which is why it becomes hilarious. Unlike other kdramas, it has a straightforward plot: a girl is in love with a boy and wants to be with him. It’s as easy as that. The show clearly loves featuring every trope you could associate with het love stories, but honestly, it’s so light and breezy and such a fast watch (due to the fact that each ep is between 20-25 minutes), you will finish those first 16 episodes before you know you even started it (I made it in less than 2 days). I want to repeat here though, it’s not for someone who starts with kdramas and hasn’t watched other kdramas. It cannot be taken seriously - and you only cannot take it seriously when you have seen things like Extraordinary You or W or, I guess, a bunch of high school kdramas. But I’m telling you, this is the only Kdrama on this list that you can watch in the most stressful time of your life and it will make you feel better. It won’t make you cry, it will make you laugh, and the moment it is out of your sight, you will forget about it - at least, that’s the case about the first 16 eps. And then we get to...
- Episodes 17-24: guys, what have I gotten myself into? As these people finished high school and their problems actually also got more adult, I started to grow genuinely attached, specifically to the ship. When she got sick and he didn’t even know although he’s a DOCTOR? When she was sexually harassed and didn’t know how to talk to him about it because their relationship was filled with other problems? When he left for 3 years and later told her that he had hoped she’d follow him because she always has... and then she didn’t? When he said that everyone is under the impression that she is more dependent on him but that he is actually the one who cannot imagine a life without her? IT ALL HURT BADLY. Because 1) so many years passed in such a short amount of time on the show and it felt like someone was ripping my heart out. I got genuinely reminded of that stupid US movie “One Day” - and y’all know how that movie ended. And because 2) there was a very realistic notion in the adult relationship portrayed. Not only did it point out how differently relationships/friendships can develop once you outgrow your teenage years and start navigating your life by yourself, but the problems, the misunderstandings, the different perceptions of time, the different perceptions of how friendships and relationships are developing - I honestly could relate to it a lot, looking at it from a 24yo perspective because it is something I have been experiencing as well since I finished high school. You feel more lonely and tend to perceive some time as passing by quickly, other times, it feels like everything is going so slow. These last 8 eps completely differ from my perception that I had in the first 16 eps of the show, as the tone is much more serious and the things depicted realistic and relatable. I also sobbed a lot. I didn’t sob at all, ever, in the first 16 eps, but the last 8 were me crying a lot and feeling my heart hurt as the years passed by and these two just spent them apart.
- So, what do I criticize about this show? The show’s pacing. I genuinely loved the change of feeling between high school and adult life, between ridiculousness and seriousness, and I know the show wants to celebrate youth at the end of the day. But I honestly believe this show could have worked so much better if u cut the high school episodes down to 8 episodes and rather spend a few more eps exploring their young adult lives. It would have worked so much better because their young adult selves were genuinely relatable, as well as their problems. The growth within the characters, realizing that the way they acted as teenagers were often self-centred or that they didn’t think that much about the consequences or how other people felt was nicely done. The show had potential. The dialogues were bearable, the camera work had hints of something great. In other words, I believe that with more carefulness to directing and dialogue, the show could have genuinely been a quality romance drama. The potential was there, but it wasn’t used the way it should have been. In the last 8 eps, you simply get a whiff on what this show could have actually been. Because the realistic character and relationship writing was right there - and if it had been put together with awesome directing and better pacing, everything could have been incredible.
SUMMARY
Favorite character:
Tumblr media
Negative: the show’s pacing; the waste of potential to be an actual quality romance.
Positive: the un-seriousness of the first 16 eps, which were just so clichéd that it all was hilarious, compared to the seriousness of problems and development depicted in the past 8 eps.

6) Run On. Rating: 4,2 / 5 stars - recommend
- I’m gonna be honest here and tell you something about me you might have guessed by now: Modern-day shows with no sci-fi nor fantasy elements are not particularly my thing. I usually sort of hate-watch them. Romance is a Bonus Book, A Love So Beautiful and Radio Romance are all of such shows and while I was even capable watching two of them without ending up hating them, they’re far from being my fave. Objectively, they’re okay-ish shows, nothing to be considered quality tv according to my cultural studies though. Subjectively, they just suffer even more from the fact that I’m very keen on being critical of such shows. But what happens when I find a non-fantasy, non-scifi modern-day show that is actually... good? Run On is the answer. Run On has memorable characters, their funny, unique characteristics, and simple conflicts put into nice subplots that often talk real-life problems such as bullying or self-neglegance. At the end of the day, this show is a love poem. It’s a love poem to self-love, self-respect, to friendship, to character growth, to family bonds, to achieving your goals, to making new goals, to kindness, and to life itself. That’s really what it is. You will find yourself in, at least, one of the characters. You will see them struggle, fight, grow, become better, and at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you are capable of living with yourself. I personally got attached to all of the stories and I adored how nothing was ever done over the top. Everything was subtle, multiple subplots working together... to form stories of life. It’s more than just a simple “feelgood” show and less than a devastating tragedy, it truly shows you life and puts it into an aesthetic form, that never neglects its reality. Which leads me to something I should point out here: it’s creatively done. From the fact that Seon-gyeom is waiting for Mi-joo at the end of the track to the drawings of Young-hwa that have Dan-ah in them to Dan-ah realizing that people experience the same things differently due to the fact that experience itself is different to everyone to Mi-joo imagining movie plots with the people she surrounds herself with to Seon-gyeom starting to live with Young-hwa in a small flat rather than to live lonely in a big, fancy hotel room - the things the characters go through in this show are not only talked about, but they’re often expressed through art, in all its forms. And these characters, these dynamics, the art, the conflicts are all subtly but carefully put together into subplots that form the show and very nice messages. The most important take-away I had from this show is that the way we treat us and the people around us is the highest form of art. And the show is a love poem to that.
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Positive: the cast (especically the core four), the characters (especially the core four); the wonderful messages about respect, kindness and self-love; the subplots working together, reflecting how life is also not just some simple chronological order of things but rather multiple experiences that we remember and that shape us; life is constant growth.
- Negative: i think the only thing i truly have to criticize is that you never really know what the plot even is. While I do enjoy how the subplots all work together, I would have wished for deeper inspections of some plots. And while it is easy just for some headcanons to come to mind, I still think the show could have incorporated more. Considering the treatment of art forms and how it takes a prominent role within the story (due to Young-hwa and Mi-joo, respectively), I also would have liked to have some cultural nods and references - and interpretations. I think the show used about 85% of its potential - and the potential was great, which is why the rating is still very good.

5) Bring it on, ghost! Rating: 4,2 / 5 stars - recommend, especially good for people who want to have a focus on romance coupled with a supernatural plot and who want a happy ending
- While the story is pretty easy to follow, often seems to be predictable and familiar, the show still promotes nice messages about forgiveness and regret. The strong side of the show isn’t particularly that though - this show is entirely saved by the two leading actors. Kim So-hyun and Teacyeon portray two incredibly lovable characters you will see yourself drawn to. They furthermore have a chemistry that you just have to love and their bickering is just the best part of all. This is mixed with some tragic moments - in present time as well as in the past - and what you get is a romantic show with a bit of comedy, with a bit of tragedy, but with a very happy ending. If you exchanged the actors with two less skilled actors or two people who simply don’t have a lot of chemistry, this show simply wouldn’t work. Their performances are the shining light of this drama, mixed with some funny side characters that you get to enjoy as well. The reason why it ends up higher on the list than Run On - despite Run On probably having generally the better dialogue writing as well as better camera work and even more beautiful messages - is due to the sole work of the two leads who simply carry this show on their back and the fact that despite having some more or less necessary subplots, there is a main plot here that will take a faster, darker turn in the second half of the show. And I personally just enjoy having a main plot to hold onto as well as I always enjoy a bit of fantasy more than modern day real live shows. On top of that, add some devastating backstory and top-notch character development for Park Bong-pal, and a badass, slightly violent, sassy characterization of Kim Hyun-ji. This show will simply leave you with a huge smile on your face, despite being made for people who enjoy tragedy as well.
SUMMARY
- Favorite characters:
Tumblr media
- Negative: subplots sometimes take the focus, a familiar story, stereotypical portrayal of ghosts (yes, ahre, i said it), no real plot twists (which can be a good thing, too, since the show rather simply unfolds each part of the story over the course of its run)
- Positive: the two leading actors, their incredibly shippable couple, a happy ending. If I was going to recommend a light-hearted, happy kdrama that has some tragic parts but ends happily and isn’t that hard to follow, I’ll recommend you this one.
_____________________
4) The Tale of Nok-du. Rating: 4,6 / 5 stars - strongly recommend.
- If you ever are in search for an unproblematic dummy as protagonist, watch this show. He’s a dummy you just have to love. You laugh about him, you laugh with him, you cry for him. He’s a puppy, you cry with him. And the best thing is, this puppy falls in love with a girl who can be quite rude and annoyed, but he always makes her smile and genuinely is attentive to her. The most frustrating thing about both of them is that each of them keeps a secret they cannot tell each other because they refuse to hurt each other - and this almost leads to tragedy. Better even, they’re portrayed by two very skillful actors. You’ll love them in the blink of an eye. And then there’s the cute second lead, portrayed by Kang Tae-oh. Yes, cute. Until he really isn’t. I’ve never seen an actor being able to turn around a character to 180° in no time. Some talent that is. And now let’s just say - the plot is nice. It is not the most complex one, but it is interesting to follow and you are always eager to find out new information to collect and put the pieces together. If you are searching for a show that is simply entertaining and nice to watch and featrures a great cast and nice characters and ranges from comedy to tragedy, this is your pick.
SUMMARY
- Favorite characters:
Tumblr media
- Negative: the narrative change in the middle of the show that shifted the focus away from women to men (even though it made sense within the story, it was still a very sudden and harsh change, especially if you consider that these women were mostly slaughtered to death)
- Positive: CAST (specifically the three mains are just beyond amazing); an innocent, pure, absolutely adorable protagonizing couple that will steal your heart; feminism; male protagonist being a feminist who ends up working with badass women for his entire lifetime; directing; narration practices - this show is the one that draws the line between the ones i discussed above and the really great ones because it is the first on the list to be capable of telling a story by constantly keeping your nerves up while also not overstimulating the viewer with too much information at once. Only the other 3 shows which will follow now were able to do the same - and it’s what makes people watch or quit, and that’s why it’s so important: constant plot development, no unnecessary side plots, and handing your audience enough information to make them keep watching but not enough to guess the entire plot yet. The Tale of Nok-du was able to do exactly that and I honestly enjoyed the ride.
_____________________
3) W - Two Worlds. Rating: 4,8 / 5 stars - strongly recommend, must watch.
- I’d like to point out first that my top 3 are interchangeable. I sometimes tend to change my mind which one of the three I adore the most, and W is definitely in those top 3. Firstly, I’d like to let you know that W was my first Kdrama watch. And it blew me away. I was in awe with Lee Jong-suk, with Han Hyo-joo, with the narration of this drama, with the plot, with the direction, with the leading couple, the cast, THE DIALOGUE. Everything about this drama was excellently executed. The slow-moving narration in episode 1, the extra long scene of Chul holding the writer at gunpoint, the writer ‘becoming’ the killer (which he has always been anyway), the philosophy behind it, the creativity. I was blown away by literally everything about this drama and I believe it to be one of the strongest dramas ever made. Furthermore, what I also really adored, is that you don’t need to necessarily be into the couple in order to enjoy this show anyway because the plot takes the spotlight - but since the couple is always involved in the main plot, you get to enjoy plot, dialogue and couple at once. An interesting thing that I want to note here is that a few weeks after finishing the show, I stumbled upon reddits criticizing Lee Tae-hwan for his acting in general. I don’t know if he just perfectly suited the role of Chul’s bodyguard in W, but I highkey enjoyed watching him in this drama.
SUMMARY
- Favorite characters:
Tumblr media
- Negative: I would have adored if Yeon-joo took a more prominent role in the resolution of the story (last 2 episodes) since the ‘hero arc’ went all to Chul there. And another negative aspect is that the show lives from very strong dialogues throughout all episodes, all incredible, all amazing and then - the very last scene. The last words spoken on the show, as a voice-over of Chul and Yeon-joo, are rather dull compared to the rest of the show.
- Positive: narration device, leaving out information to fill us in later and blowing our minds away (PEOPLE, I THOUGHT CHUL DIED), complex main characters, complex plot, no unnecessary subplots, no unnecessary romantic drama, no unnecessary cheesiness, DIALOGUE, direction, the cast in general*.
*I tried Memories of the Alhambra, as I found out that the same people who also made W were in charge of that drama, and I have to admit that I was intensely let down, specifically by the casting. Hyun Bin was alright-ish (not very memorable though), but Park Shin-hye was unbearable for me after episode 3. I stopped watching. If the plot was as interesting as the one of W though, I would have kept watching. But seeing as nothing really happened in those first 3 eps other than the lead killing his old best friend and playing video games that appear to turn into reality, I felt like I was wasting my time.

2) Extraordinary You. Rating: 5 / 5 stars - strongly recommend for hopeless romantics, people who suffer from second lead syndrome and people who like getting into philosophical debates.
- Extraordinary You was the second kdrama I ever watched. And. And. And. And I almost gave it up after episode one. It seemed somewhat ridiculous to me, way too fast-moving. I would regret my entire life if I had given it up right there and then. Because PEOPLE, IT IS SO GOOD. Not only does it feature a very healthy main couple, it leaves you emotionally devastated because there’s a backstory that you only get to know in the second half of the show but which influences your entire perception of the first half - and jeez, by the time I reached half of the show, I was yelling and screaming and crying my eyes out. You ever want to see a love so deep that it transcends consciousness and universes? A love so deep that time and space become mere nothings? That’s what you get in this show. And one of the best parts is that the ‘’’’’actual’’’’’ lead (in the ancient story within the show, not the story of the show) aka Baek Kyung* does NOT get the girl. But that doesn’t mean you won’t fricking suffer with him. Jeez, I bawled my eyes out for him, too. But Haru/Dan-oh, guys, they’re.... everything. Oh and all of that is nicely mixed up in a strong, complex plot that leaves nothing unexplained. Not everything is explained through words - the show is high on symbolism rather than dialogue - but everything makes sense. And the ending, oh that stupid ending. As beautiful as heartbreaking. Since the plot is put into a philosophical perspective throughout the show, the show also raises questions about existence and being. Yes, I yelled when Heidegger was mentioned. So not only do you get to see a beautiful, heartbreaking love story; adorable, complex characters; time-and-space-transcending friendships, you also get to laugh, cry and think about your own existence and your own place in this world. This show is a delight.
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Negative: you will cry and cry and cry and then laugh and then cry and cry and cry. It’s really not fun. Emotionally devastating. No, but for real... I wished we had a more complex depiction of the female characters that aren’t Dan-oh (specifically Ju-da, Sae-mi and Su-hyang), and a bit less focus on the guys therefore (I love them all but I thought the girls could have gotten some screen time of theirs while I would have accepted Jinmichae, Do-hwa and Nam-ju to get a bit less)
- Positive: Honestly? EVerything. Directing, casting, characterization, narration, love story, friendships, everything.
-  *Let me say something about Baek Kyung, portrayed by Lee Jae-wook. That character could have simply been an asshole. The set-up was there, the writer of the comic also made him that way. But Lee Jae-wook has portrayed this character with so much depth that it is impossible not to feel bad for him. His entire life stages (hahahaha, I’m so funny) are a tragic mess. The fact that he eventually realizes that who he is and who the writer made him are eventually indeed two different people after all - but that they both share being in love with Eun Dan-oh - is as important as it is devastating. Cause it makes you realize that he can finally move his life more freely with that knowledge - become a better person outside of the stages (only if given the chance by the writer though) - while also never finding a happy ending. Firstly, because happy endings don’t exist in their world anyway because endings - if happy or sad - are always endings to these characters’ existences and because it is glaringly obvious his happy ending would include having Dan-oh by his side also outside of the stages. That is denied to him and will always be denied to him. And as a viewer, you understand that and you want nothing else, but the fact that he doesn’t even appear in the new story, not getting a chance at a new life this time, just adds a tragic notion onto all of this that no one asked for. I’d like to thank Lee Jae-wook here for such an incredible portrayal. I started Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol because of him and, unfortunately, had stop watching after 2 episodes because Go A-ra is simply... a terrible actress. I can’t put it any other way. I’m looking forward to other dramas with him and the rest of the cast though. Extraordinary You definitely had a huge advantage already by having a quite young, but incredibly talented mass of actors and actresses.

1) Hotel del Luna. Rating: 5 / 5 stars - strongly recommend, must watch.
- It wasn’t thaaaat surprising to me that I would love this show. It was rather.... obvious that this would happen because a fantasy show set in modern day with the involvement of other time eras and a badass, broken, strong female lead is simply my taste. What I did not expect was this to become my favorite tv show of all time. I don’t even know where to start. I guess Jang Man-wol is a good starting point. Because I live for such characters. Characters like hers are precisely of my taste (I had similar people to her before - Ámbar Smith from Argentina’s Soy Luna or Melody Paz from Argentina’s Casi Ángeles - and also after her - Seo Dan-ah from Korea’s Run On), but Jang Man-wol takes the no.1 spot in all tv characters ever. She’s so layered, so complex, so well-written. She’s not predictable, but she’s also not ever surprising. She comes across as one of the most relatable tv characters you could ever see because she isn’t just one thing. She’s very contrary, she can be soft and loving or harsh and ruthless, sometimes all at the same time. She can be forgiving, she can be arrogant, self-hating, self-loving, lazy, passionate, she is quite literally everything. And while in the show’s set-up she is punished for hundreds of years when other, much more problematic people were allowed to leave this world sooner than her, the narrative wants you to feel sorry for her. You see her flaws, you see she’s anything but perfect but it won’t make you conclude that her punishment was ever deserved. The more you get into this show, the more you will ache. Because you know that there is only one possible ending to the show - for her to finally find peace. And that... that can only be achieved if she finally is allowed to leave this world. And it hurts and pains because, obviously, there is a love story. A love story that goes back to when she was a child 1,300 years ago. A love story that reunites her with the guy who saved her these 1,300 years ago and who now finds her again, someone who makes her care about her life again. As deeper as you go into the show, the more you will cry, the more you will suffer. And you will feel conflicted. You will want her to get her revenge while you will want to protect her. You will want her to finally be able to leave this world, but you won’t want her to leave Chan-sung. You will want her to actually care about her own fate while you will also want her to make the mistakes that worsen everything. It is a beautiful character put into a story that mixes fantasy, comedy, tragedy, soulmates, life, death, revenge, a stunning cinematography and strong dialogues into one. And what you get is the probably best show ever made.
SUMMARY
- Favorite character:
Tumblr media
- Negative: There is really only one minor thing I’d criticize. While all the chars are rather complex and all subplots and character arcs work within the main plot frame and round up the entire story perfectly, there is one subplot I personally got a bit tired of because it is definitely the most unconnected one to the main plot - this concerns the romance arc of yu-na and hyun-joong. I wasn’t hating it, but I just didn’t need it for this story.
- Positive: This show has everything. I told you above already all the things I like. On top of that, I’d like to add that it has a beautiful found family story arc, promotes wonderful messages, has gotten itself the most excellent leading actress with IU who just beautifully portrays Jang Man-wol in all her depth. The show leaves you with your heart aching while there will be a smile on your face. Emotional devastation is just how this show works.

for character ask, vegeta and luvia
Tumblr media
Vegeta is wild. I can never truly pinpoint Exactly what it is that I like about him but I think honestly it has to be that he tries hard and fails and then tries hard again. Why am I driven to like characters that try so hard? I don't knoowwww. I think he's funny. He's a hysterical italian man. He's passionate. And not always in a good way. I think about that fucking insane time when he challenged Trunks to try and hit him in the training room when they were both SSJ, instinctually hit him back, DIDN'T APOLOGIZE!!?!, and then immediately took him to the park as promised... If it says anything of Trunks and Vegeta's relationship I feel like Vegeta probably apologized in private. Because I think Vegeta is aware of his behavior to that amount... I enjoy him. I really do enjoy how he turned around... Im insaiyan
Tumblr media
Anon can I just say you sending Vegeta and Luvia is fucking hilarious. They're kind of similar in a way? You know what I mean? They would be fans of each other if they watched each others' series. Like Luvia would love Vegeta and Vegeta would be like "That Edelfelt woman knows what she's talking about". And enjoy seeing her on screen even if you're supposed to be rooting for Rin or smth JDHSKAHFJ
I love Luvia, I hope she gets some time in Adventures again because I want to see more of her and in particular more of her as a human and a mage, more of her thoughts, more of her INTELLIGENCE. I want to see her shine and really pull thru. Her FGO designs are kind of meh but her Case Files designs are 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 so fucking good

for the character asks, how about Sai?
first impression: when i first read naruto i did not think much of him alas... i was really annoyed at the implication that what root was doing was somehow worse than konoha's normal program which also included a complementary "don't feel things" and "kill your fellow shimobi to advance ranks" and whatnot to really consider him as an individual character
impression now: i love him he's such a wet cat. i wish he interacted with the rest of team 7 in more meaningful ways i know that obviously there are insane things to extrapolate from his role in the dynamic as "replacement sasuke" and its a damn shame that that's never really delved into... kishi relegating him to dick jokes and punching bag for sakura forever was soooo sad i wish he had gotten to be insane. WHY is he the most normal team 7 member!!!! iirc he doesn't even try to kill himself ever... wasted potential. but what naruto character isn't lmao
favorite thing about that character: i simply think that a character who leaves a terrible situation in hopes of finding something just slightly better only to fall short it. compelling. i don't think he regrets leaving root per se but i do think that he is miserable. he left because he wanted the same love that team seven had for each other and then failed to fall into it with them. he just gets to orbit. is knowing that its there but being unable to feel it from them better or worse than staying in the dark forever? i do not think he knows and personally. that's my favorite thing about him ^_^
least favorite thing: sakura harrasment. i know its not his fault it's just that he exists in proximity to her and the narrative hates her so his brain has been hijacked for the sake of being mean. but aughhghghg i need everyone to be nice to her ok!!!! hasn't she been through enough!!!!
favorite line/scene: i can't find the screenshot but uhhh that one part of the manga where sai asks danzo to stay with team seven for a little while longer? absolutely golden i love it so much. quit your military service join the other military service boy!!!!!!
favorite interaction that character has with another: i love his introduction to team 7 so fucking much i love it when sakura n naruto get mad at him for the crime of not being sasuke. and later in the arc when naruto gets mad at him for the crime of not liking sasuke (much bigger issue than the whole betrayal thing) that was also really funny. but also i feel like it's such a defining set-up for him as a character... literally he gives up everything he knows to stay with these guys and then plays second fiddle forever and ever </3 i love his dynamic with team 7 it's so fucking depressing.
character that I wish that character would interact with more: okay look see i know they were never alive at the same time but i think nohara rin interactions would be fascinating okay. he'd mistake her for a root agent she'd feel the same boiling resentment she does for anyone who seems to be masking like she is it would be a beautiful melody of misunderstandings.
character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: hmmm i'm gonna say ralsei deltarune i think. because he is suspicious and has an agenda and will likely be won over by the power of friendship. not a good explanation but i'm sure you see the vision
headcanon about that character: sometimes he thinks about going missingnin not because he sees anything wrong with the way shinobi live but just to see if naruto would chase him like he did sasuke. he'll never do it, of course, because he doesn't want to hurt naruto, but he thinks about it. also i think that transfem sai has a lot of potential as like. a complete reclamation of her personhood. not ride or die on it but i am fond of it as a headcanon.
song that reminds of that character: fine, great by modern baseball. i simply think. that sai should be allowed to kill the narrative in order to get more screentime. you know.
unpopular opinion about that character: i do not like inosai (like as a. healthy cute relationship). i do not see sai getting together with anyone... truthfully my favorite sai ending would be him languishing in unrequited romantic love for everyone in team 7 while they are in a polycule. without him. he can still be married to ino i just think that she should be cheating on him and he should be miserable about his inability to love her and angry that he can't be with the people he wants. sorry i like it when his life sucks.
also not a fan of tenzo being close with him. i think they have a hard time interacting because they both feel like they should feel something for each other as like, two people who escaped root into the still-bad normal shinobi system, but have a hard time connecting over anything. lots and lots of awkward failed attempts to bond before they eventually give up.

⭑・゚゚・*:༅。.。༅:*゚:*:✼✿ ✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
When they first met, Sesshomaru was exploring the backwaters of a tiny village; Rin had come running to him, yelling excitedly about how there was another dog demon somewhere close by. The villagers also rumored that it was a girl, who killed anybody who crossed her path, so no one was able to confirm if it was true or not.
It intrigued Sesshomaru that there were more dog demon in the world, other than him and Inuyasha (even if he is only half). Sesshomaru told Rin to stay back with Jaken so that he could investigate further, then trekked to the location the humans were whispering about.
What he saw was not something he was expecting, in hindsight. He thought, maybe it was a child demon who wasn’t yet known who they were, or maybe someone impersonating a dog demon to stay in isolation. None of these were correct, though, because in the meadows and great landscape, there stood a girl with beautiful (h/c) hair, blowing in the spring breeze. She seemed to be close to Sesshomaru in age, maybe a little younger, if her tail was anything to go by, meaning she hadn’t quite mastered transfomring from her demon to human form.
The way she held herself, like survival was the only thing she knew, made Sesshomaru wonder how long she had been in isolation. No interaction with the outside world, no social interaction with humans and demons alike, it made everyone go crazy.
He noticed she hadn’t sensed him yet, so he decided to walk closer to her, making sure he didn’t scare her when he was almost close enough touch her. She whipped her head around and started to growl when she finally sensed him, crouching down in a defensive position and her eyes wide in fright. Sesshomaru raised his hand, but his face remained stoic. “I’m not here to hurt you.” he said loud and clear.
The girl stayed low, but stopped growling when he said that, her tail becoming less puffy. “Who are you and what do you want?” she asked, surprising Sesshomaru that she was easily speaking. Blinking, he looked around until he came up with an answer he thought was suitable enough.
“I was told there was a dog demon in this region of the world, and was curious. I didn’t expect there to actually be on in front of me.” he told her, watching as she relaxed.
“Is that what I am?” she whispered, looking into Sesshomaru’s eyes, hers swirling with uncertainty and confusion. He was confused himself; how does one not know their origins? Did her parents not saying anything?
He gave her an indecipherable look before nodding his head, “That is what you are. I am one too.” she gave him wide eyes, before stepped over to him, inspecting him closely.
“But you don’t have a tail.” she muttered, looking at his behind. He cleared his throat, his eyes twitching a bit.
“I have control over my transforming, unlike you.” he explained, grabbing her tail lightly. She grunted and moved it away from his hand, glaring at him. “You seem to not have full control over a lot things that you need to survive. I want you to travel with me.” the younger dog demon blinked, straightening her posture and looked around the plains before coming to gaze into Sesshomaru’s eyes, giving him a sweet smile.
“Okay.”
⭑・゚゚・*:༅。.。༅:*゚:*:✼✿ ✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*・゚゚・⭑
That had been over two years ago. (y/n) and Sesshomaru have travelling together along with Rin and Jaken ever since. Sesshomaru taught her how to hunt better, how to transform fully from human to demon and back, and taught her how to smell and differentiate between senses. He taught her many more tactics so that she could win in almost any battle, but never against Sesshomaru.
(Y/n) started to see him in a different light than when they first met. He was indifferent and aloof with her, with only showing disdain or irritation, mostly with Jaken. He was soft on Rin, like a father would with his daughter. The younger dog demon thought she was in the same category as Jaken, until something changed that.
She was almost killed by a very powerful demon named Naraku. She didn’t know who that was, but Sesshomaru definitely knew and when Naraku was about to cut her life off and send her to the afterworld, Sesshomaru came in and rescued her at the last minute. His face was contorted in anger as she watched him fight Naraku off, and when Naraku fled the scene, Sesshomaru immediately went to her side. His expression was something she had never seen before; filled with distress and panic.
She didn’t know what happened after since she passed out form the too much blood loss. She asked Jaken, but he kept his lips sealed and Rin wasn’t there when it happened. The only thing she can confidently deduce was that Sesshomaru nursed her to full health and from that day on, he never let her leave his side. He got more protective of her, watching over her constantly.
Sesshomaru started showing his softer side, occasionally smiling in her direction when she did something funny, or giving her more food than him, saying he wasn’t all that hungry. Or when she was tired to carry on in their travels he would instantly set up camp and let her lay on his fur mokomoko, usually causing her to just sleep against him. She asked why he was acting so differently one day, and he vehemently denied all of it, his face revealing nothing. Thinking he did it out of pride, she dropped it. But somewhere in her heart, (y/n) felt happy with the attention.
Turns out that feeling she had, grew into something big and something painful. The girl fell in love with Sesshomaru.
She didn’t want to believe it, but the signs and symptoms were there and she couldn’t deny it any longer. Looking at him made her heart beat fast, and every brush of skin made her want to hold his hand for forever. And kissing him? Oh, she wants to do that so very much, sometimes she imagines it while walking and trips over trees roots, embarrassing herself constantly. But it isn’t so bad when he chuckles at her clumsiness. She’ll trip a hundred times over if it means she can watch him laugh like that.
She knew that he doesn’t feel the same, despite how he treats her like one does with a lover, without the intimacy of one. Why would he? She is just some girl he found in the meadows of a small village with no reputation or prestige. She had nothing going for her, and he had everything going for him. It wasn’t fair, she wanted him to love her too, the way she does to him.
She was thinking about this again when they were walking in the southern regions of the land, where it was warmer and flowers were blooming everywhere. She sighed, causing Sesshomaru glance in her direction. “Why have you been sighing so much, it’s becoming a nuisance.” he said to her, his tone monotonous. She replied with a sigh and a shake of her head.
“You wouldn’t get it even if I told you.” with that, she walked ahead of the group, running quite far on the path through the forest they were in. She heard him call after her, but ignored him in favor of keeping some distance from him, to clear her head.
But she didn’t think she would run into Inuyasha and company. (y/n) in her tracks, out of breath and waved. She was pretty close with them, unlike Sesshomaru. That was because he was unsociable and emotionally inept, unlike her.
Kagome waved back and hugged her, “(y/n)! It’s been so long since I’ve seen you! How are you?” (y/n) shrugged rigidly, thinking to her dilemma.
“I just realized something a little too late, and it’s really bringing my spirits down.” she said to her. Kagome tilted her head, curious.
“What do you mean?” she heard Sango ask, coming to stand next to Kagome. Wrapping her arms around herself self-consciously, she frowned at them.
“I think I’m in love with Sesshomaru.” she proclaimed to the group. Kagome audibly gasped and Sango’s eyes widened fractionally. She also heard a loud guffaw come out of Inuyasha, him doubling over. She gave a glare, folding her arms across her chest. “And what is so funny to you, huh?” Inuyasha shook his head, his shoulders shaking.
“T-the fact that you are in love with my brother! Sesshomaru?! Seriously!” he exclaimed, clutching his stomach. Huffing out a breath, she looked to Kagome expectedly. Nodding, Kagome called out to Inuyasha.
“Inuyasha! Sit, boy!” Kagome yelled and Inuyasha was instantly thrown to the ground, his necklace stuck to the dirt.
“Kagome, what the hell was that for?!”
“You were laughing at (y/n)!”
“I was laughing more at the fact that she didn’t know he loved her too!” he yelled out, to which everyone stared at him dubiously.
“You’re lying.” (y/n) muttered, her eyebrow twitching.
“Look, I may not be that close to my brother, but I know when he likes someone, alright?! He’s protective of you, he does things for you, he smiles more around you, right?” he questioned her. She loosely bobbed her head up and down, absorbing what she was just told. “Yeah, well, these means he loves you back.”
Really? Is that what he means with his actions? And she was oblivious to all of it? And here she was, thinking he didn’t have single clue what love was. With a shuddering sigh, she turned back to where Sesshomaru was and started running.
She couldn’t believe it, she really couldn’t wrap her mind around it. Sesshomaru loving her back would be the miracle of the century. She had to confirm it with her own eyes, see if what Inuyasha said was true. (y/n) saw him in the distance, noticing that Rin and Jaken weren’t with him. Without slowing down, she called out his name to which he looked up to see her jump.
He caught her in his arms, but they both fell to the ground, her on top of him. “Sesshomaru!” she said again, getting his attention. There was annoyance in his eyes, but also curiosity. “Do you love me?”
His eyes widened, almost imperceptibly, but she saw it and her lips lifted into a smile. “Are you in love with me?” she whispered to him, her eyes glowing with hope. Sesshomaru didn’t say anything, only turned his head to avoid looking at her head on. He didn’t know what to do. “Sesshomaru?” she whispered again, but this time a frown on her face, her eyes losing that hope.
Sesshomaru bit the inside of his cheek, then looked at her again. He then gently grabbed her by the neck, and pushed her down. Their lips connected briefly before Sesshomaru pulled back and pushed her off to get up. He patted his clothes clean of any dirt, and saw that (y/n) was still sitting. “(y/n).” he called out. She quickly looked up to him and got up as well.
“Is that a yes?” she asked him. Sesshomaru stared for a minute before letting her see a smile grace his lips. The sun was setting behind, making him look more angelic then he already was. With a giggle, (y/n) stepped closer to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling Sesshomaru do the same to her waist. And as the sun turned the sky to oranges and reds, she kissed him again and again and again, loving how he tasted against her tongue.

Hey everyone! We are a month away from Yashahime! October 3rd is coming up quick for the airing of Yashahime.
youtube
The deadline for the Rumiko Takahashi Q/A passed and we will be seeing which of our questions will be featured and answered on a Shonen Sunday magazine so I'm looking forward to see what Rumiko Takahashi has to say to us about InuYasha and Yashahime.
In a recent Yashahime Preview trailer we get to see a tiny bit of new footage. Attacking Roothead with Tessaiga and another of Towa's funny facial expressions. But most noteably it mentions that they have to get a Rainbow pearl to recover Setsuna's memories. My theory was right when I talked about the second visit to the Inu no Taishou's grave that the black pearl would give InuYasha flashbacks. In my full trailer analysis I mentioned that Setsuna's eye glowing reminded me of the Black Pearl, which I think a lot of us took that into thought but I also dugged deeper and remembered that the Black Pearl was seen giving InuYasha memory flashbacks. It also got me thinking a few times when I saw the different colored pearls on the website, the black one being at the very bottom. So the trailer definitely confirmed my theory that they would need a pearl to give Setsuna her memories back.
I do remember an early translation that talked about Moroha having a Shell that had a red pearl. That really caught my attention before we even got the trailer about Setsuna's eye. This is what the early art translation said about Moroha "When she puts on her lipstick that is carried in a shell with a red pearl" In the official English translation of the profiles color reveal showed in the Kaoru Wada livestream it says when she puts on Rouge she becomes Beniyasha. We haven't seen her put on red lipstick yet or rouge as in red blush makeup. What if the bow on her head was from Kagome's old school uniform? We will see! Now I don't know if the red pearl on Moroha's shell is just decorative or something also special, as if it's holding someone else's memories. Like, you guessed it - Possibly Moroha's memories, InuYasha or Kagome's. Again, pearls are also portals and could be holding many other secrets. Someone could be trapped there as well. Admittedly the first mention of Moroha's red pearl got my brain ticking about it very early on. Moroha's red pearl could even be one part of the many pearls that, when combined all together could make the entire Rainbow pearl in order for Setsuna to regain her memories. In order for them to get Setsuna's memories back - There is a chance that the Rainbow pearl could only be acquired when you find all of the different colored pearls.
Tumblr media
When we look at the website there is 8 colored pearls. If you remember the colors of the rainbow has 7. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. These pearls seem to match quite closely with the total of 8 pearls when we include the black one.
It would have been cute if it was Izayoi's lipstick shell that was magically recovered after being crushed. Looking forward to how this all plays out.
Now, I constantly get asked this - "Are InuYasha and Kagome dead?" or "Why did they abandon their child? Couldn't InuYasha sniff her out?" I have answered these many times. My answers to these are - No, they are NOT dead. They were seperated and possibly sent to another dimension or sealed away. Their memories could have been taken too. InuYasha and Kagome did not abandon their child. Again, they were seperated. InuYasha also could have lost his sense to smell her out because of the fire and smoke. Even adding to the possibility of it being Root Head infested Sacred Tree smoke. Another idea, is that InuYasha could have lost that ability had it happened on the New Moon.
It was announced on the Ani-One channel that you will be able to watch Yashahime for free, if it will have English subs is something I'm wondering about as well. If not I will be looking at whoever anime provider has it first. They will definitely be getting my money. Make sure to subscribe to them, and keep checking AnimeLab, VIZ Media and probably Crunchy Roll. Considering we just had a CrunchyRoll x VIZ Media live stream for Yashahime September 4th.
On September 4th we had a livestream for Yashahime. Nothing too new in it, the guy that was talking spoke of Rumiko Takahashi's history in creating more than one hit series. As well as how successful and popular her work is. The nice thing to note that when VIZ Media did announce it they did show the four images of InuYasha and Kagome, Sesshoumaru and Rin that enough hinted to me that they were going to be showing us a bit of the livestreams from a month or so back but with some subtitles. So we did get some official subtitles for little parts of it. I liked that Kappei mentioned he changes it a little bit as human InuYasha when he talks. When InuYasha transforms back he says he imagines his demon blood inside of him erupts so he drops the voice a little lower right when that transformation happens to become half demon again. They also mentioned Rin's voice actor would make her own songs and sing about things like Jaken being green. She also confirmed this when her and Ken Narita were talking in their portion. I thought that was very cute. They did say Jaken was like Rin's father figure a couple times . Then Rin's voice actor mentioned she saw a thread online that said "Jaken is the mom" of Towa and Setsuna. They were cracking up. Her and Ken Narita wanted to make a parody about how Setsuna stole a piece of the fluffy from Sesshoumaru for her Naginata. As if Sesshoumaru was dead asleep when it happened, then there was just some random patch of fur missing. I thought that was hilarious.
It has been announced that Uru's song "Break" will be the ending song for Yashahime. We will get to hear the TV version of this October 3rd when Yashahime airs. Uru will be releasing the Full Ending song for Yashahime October 28th.
Like I thought after they finished the InuYasha no Tsubo posts, that they would be posting Yashahime ones. Here is the new post, confirming this. It says that they have reached the final round for InuYasha no Tsubo, if you don't know what InuYasha no Tsubo is it was character info at the end of each episode that the Japanese voice over versions. From September 8th they will be posting Yashahime. I will also be posting translations for these!
I want to thank each and every one of you. Whether you are a member of our Group, a subscriber or a follower. You are still giving us support and that means a whole lot to us. Yashahime is a month away from us.

Fruits Basket Season 2 Reviews
I just want to start this review by saying that this is a very subjective review of the season. This is my personal opinion about the show and I hope whoever reads it, enjoys it.
The last review had a different format from this one, but since consistency has never been my thing and the season had so many good characters, I’m going with this format.
I want to begin with Yuki. While Kyo was the star of the last season, Yuki was the star of this season. There is no doubt in my mind about it. His character arc this season was a beautiful journey from start to finish. Was I happy with the conclusion he ended up with? Of course, not. It’s good for Yuki to gain more agency, grow independent and start getting stronger (Albeit, in my eyes, he’s already strong). However, his conclusion that he is all to be blamed broke my heart. What his parents and Akito did to him was cruel to say the least. Yes, Kyo, Hatori and even Ayame to some degree, are not to be blamed, but the others definitely are. He was isolated, mentally tortured and felt unloved all because of these people. I hope that at the end, Yuki can see that he isn’t to be blamed and never really forgives Akito and his parents. It was also amazing to see his bond with the Student Council, especially Kakeru. I’m so glad that Yuki found such good friend in him. He definitely has the number two spot after Kyo.
Speaking of Yuki, let’s talk about his relationship with Tohru. In the beginning of the season, it seemed like there was a potential for a romantic relationship between two, especially in the scene where they saw the shooting starts. However, as episodes passed by, I could see that it was becoming more friendly rather than romantic. When Yuki revealed that he saw Tohru as a ‘mother’, I was surprised, but not shocked. There were a few hints here and there, especially the scene where he lies his head on her shoulder, but I never connected the dots. His confession was pretty sad. People mixing the different types of loves happens more times than I can count, yet with Yuki, it was heartbreaking to see. The reason this boy couldn’t figure out what he felt about Yuki was simply because he never felt truly loved. Love was such a foreign concept to him because of his traumatic childhood. Hopefully, we will see more of their friendship. When Kakeru mentioned the whole things about men marrying women who reminded them of their mothers, I’m glad that Yuki shut that down. In a culture where is expected  to a degree for wives to be their husband’s mother, I loved what Yuki said. Also, side-eyeing him and Machi. They seem interesting.
I complained in the last review that Tohru has no flaws. Now, you can definitely say that Tohru is too kind and selfless to the point of toxicity, but I don’t find them real flaws. I’m done watching characters have flaws like ‘too smart’, ‘too kind’, ‘too beautiful’, they just rub me the wrong way. Does that mean I dislike Tohru? Fuck, no. She’s precious and still one of my favourite characters of the show. While I was afraid that I’d get bored of her, I’m not and still found her very refreshing as a character.
As for the ship of this show aka Kohru, man, I loved them this season. I think by episode 5, I started actively rooting for them. Their scenes in the beach episodes were cute and funny. However, the scene that took my breath had to be the one when Kyo realized that he was in love with her when he was with Akito. It’s sad that he immediately denied it afterwards due to the fear of Akito hurting Kyo. Right now, it seemed like Kyo is holding back due to his potential confinement. It was also interesting to see Tohru start reciprocating step by step. I think their love story is being handled with a lot of care and beauty.
Don’t have much to say about Kyo in this season other than he is great and he should keep doing what he’s doing. Mayhaps try to be friends with Yuki next season.
I knew Akito was a girl from the beginning. I was a bit confused when the show referred to him as a man, then was surprised when I saw in Google that she was a woman. Someone told me she was a man and I went with it. I realized that I had coincidentally spoiled myself, but I didn’t mind. Man, I love Akito as a character. She’s brilliantly written and her scenes are always great. I love when the main villain is a woman because it’s so rare in media. Usually, women are sidekicks to the male villain, but I love that for the moment, she’s in the center. She has to be one of the best villains out there.
Kureno is interesting. I feel so bad because of all the abuse he has been enduring for years because he somehow managed  to break the bond. What Akito did to him was truly horrendous and unforgivable. I hope he can ends up leaving this abusive environment sooner. I’m really curious to see what triggered the breaking off the bond. Also, is he really 26? All season I’ve been hoping that he was lying because his relationship with Uo would be very weird.
Rin was also an interesting addition to the cast. Her story like with the others’ story was so sad. The Sohmas can’t catch a break, can they? I liked that she was so rude and cold to some people. The cast is so full of nice people and I was happy to see a character who is kind, but not nice. I wonder where her story will go in the next season. Btw, she and Hatsuharu had so much chemistry. Why the hell is she called Rin though?
Shigure, you little shit. Definitely the most interesting character in the show. His motivations at this point are still unclear, but man, he’s so entertaining to watch. He’s clearly a very selfish person, smart and uses the people around him. He feels more of a ‘Joker’ type of character to me. He’s also the funniest character aside Ayame.
My one complaint with Ayame is that we didn’t get more of him. The parent-teacher conference scene was funny and heartwarming to see. He’s trying his best to make up for his mistakes. I would like to know more about him and his past other than him being an eccentric idiot.
In the first season, Kagura annoyed me. In the second, started to like her way more after the episode with Kyo. I was so glad that she decided that harboring a crush on Kyo isn’t good for both of them since it’s not that genuine. I wanted to see more of her, but after that, she pretty much disappeared. Disappointed about that.
Not enough Hatori. That episode was good with Mayu, but I wanted more of him.
Also, where the hell was Ritsu? Wanted to see more of him too.
Hiro, congrats for having the best parents. He and Kisa are so cute. Love when he gets jealous.
Momiji, you deserve the world. I hate that he has to sacrifice so much at such a young age. Also, he was growing through the season, wasn’t he?
Machi, girl, you deserve the best hugs. Screw your mother.

heeey... so, might be still a bit early to ask, but: top 10 "things" about season 2? could be eps, moments, characters, things they did, whatever you feel like, literally ur top 10 favorites from it
i interpreted this to mean top 10 moments so....top 10 moments!
10. (from 2x4)

i love this whole fight so much. it’s kind of an unspoken thing after it’s first established that they have to hide a huge part of their lives from everyone around them since it’s a given, so i like this bottled-up frustration over having to live constantly walking on eggshells coming out. i also really really like that we get to see haru acting genuinely scary as dark haru; it’s introduced as a comedic thing and haru is a generally well-adjusted character compared to the rest of the zodiac, and so i like that we get to see just how destructive and chaotic his coping mechanism really is. filmmaking-wise it’s a little boring but i don’t really mind because it’s tense enough that i don’t really notice it.
9. (from 2x17)

this is the only funny one on my list because i live for the drama haha but i like this scene for more than its humor! this episode takes place at a point in the season where yuki has been able to accept that he is allowed to put himself and his recovery first, and has spent enough time with others and pushed himself out of his comfort zone enough to shake off the instantaneous automatic fear of rejection that his social anxiety manifests as. because of the slow undoing of this hardwired reaction and because he’s become very comfortable around kakeru, though, his real, unrestrained personality as well as his actual opinions start slipping out. i like that this scene shows us 1. that he cares for tohru so deeply that he would end a friendship over her getting hurt, even though he thinks it’s childish after he says it and 2. that not even yuki knows what his real personality is like because he’s kept it repressed for so long. and i think for people with social anxiety the reaction to this kind of thing is embarrassment, but despite his embarrassment kakeru accepts what he says at face value because he likes yuki for who he is, not who he pretends to be for other people’s comfort. this is a very sweet moment between the two of them even if it’s buried a bit underneath the humor and kakeru’s easy acceptance of yuki’s more dramatic and snarky side is one of the reasons yuki trusts him so much when it comes to heavy stuff. i don’t love the bg changes to this cartoony thing in fb but in comedic scenes like this one it didn’t bother me, and i thought all of the art in this episode was really nice. this was also one of my favorite voice acting moments from shimazaki, i looooved loved loved him stuttering as he turns around right after he has this revelation, i think it’s super funny and also very natural-sounding, plus it’s a different kind of delivery from yuki but it fits him so well.

i love this little moment between shigure and hatori. the way they talk about the curse in this scene is very indicative of their characters and how they feel about the curse: shigure is flippant and casual when he says rin visits him to see if he knows how to break it, and hatori is shocked at the idea of it, then instantly becomes resigned, claiming it’s not possible. but this moment right at the end is just *chefs kiss* the way shigure says hatori’s name so weighty, and the delivery of “...do you hear it?” is curious if not hesitantly hopeful, some of my fav line readings in the whole show. i also really love the pan up the stairs back up to the house when he says “the sound of breaking,” the implication of tohru’s involvement in this clear. this scene is also visually stunning and i like the track under it a lot.
7. (from 2x18)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’m obsessed with this scene and i’m obsessed with every line reading from nakamura, he is so incredible. i thought the art in this scene was gorgeous and every blocking choice was amazing, the body language and where they moved and when was perfect. also one of my favorite tracks off the ost plays under this scene, and i love that it ends just before shigure delivers his line, “i’m the worst.” and rin looks over her shoulder in silence other than the sound of the door(!) sliding closed as shigure exits. you can feel in this scene how desperate rin is and how frustrated shigure’s flippancy is making her. i also really like rin’s body language in general, she’s a good amount touchier than anyone else, and she’s all over shigure in this scene, both because she’s propositioning him but also because of her implied closeness (gure-nii) to him.
this is an excellent shigure scene, and i love these lines included in particular as well as the repeat of them in the finale. it’s a moment of actual self-awareness and self-reflection from shigure for sure, you can tell by his face, but in true shigure form he is not saying it because he’s trying to be emotionally open with rin; he’s saying it to get her off his back. he knows that the curse is weakening but he also knows that the harder he pushes people and the harder they struggle to get out, the more likely the curse is to break. it’s cruel and manipulative and the most painful way to go about things, but hey at least he knows it!
6. (from 2x25)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this whole scene between shigure and hatori in the finale is a super hard hitter; they both know everything about one another and have nothing to hide and they are also very desensitized to cruelty, and so their conversations are incredibly frank, and they don’t skirt around anything, either. i like that hatori doesn’t hesitate to put shigure in his place regarding akito’s status (a good example of hatori as akito’s enabler and the upkeeper of the status quo in order to keep everyone’s lives as calm as possible at the cost of his own happiness), and i like that shigure immediately gives it back by calling out hatori’s attachment to the bond—which is an interesting thing to bring up and speaks to the bond as not just a curse, but of how it is also their family and community. their lives do revolve around it, so the curse breaking would be an unthinkable change to something integral to their existence.
i chose this moment in particular because it’s a great insight into shigure’s emotional state, one of deep jealousy and pain over akito’s rejection of him. i like that it’s a close-up of his eyes here; shigure’s eyes are important in the reboot, and seeing them here tells us that this is his emotional truth. when hatori calls him out, though, they are hidden again. these lines are also delivered so well, i love how low in his register he’s speaking, it’s not something we hear from shigure a lot. it’s very heavy and very indicative of his pain.
also, i like when they copy things exactly from the manga, so i liked this shot a lot as the closer of the scene:

5. (from 2x21)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok obviously i had to put this because it’s my favorite scene in the manga...i thought this was very visually beautiful, loved that they had yuki standing in darkness (in front of a door!) and kyo illuminated by the light, but a light from a place he’s not allowed to enter. i think the lighting design speaks to how yuki views kyo, not only when he’s a little older as someone who is naturally charismatic and attractive, but in the moment, as a potential ray of light, a possible friend who could understand his situation through shared life experience. i just love the puff of breath yuki gives in reaction to kyo confirming what akito has been saying to him about how everyone hates him and everything is his fault, and i love yuki’s hands folded in front of his chest, protecting the most vulnerable part of his body as a reflex to words that deeply wounded him.
i like this scene for its function of the root of yuki and kyo’s conflict: that kyo needs to hate yuki and scapegoat him for his own problems due to yuki’s status in the family, and yuki hates kyo back to protect himself. it’s a very nuanced and deep take on a fictional rivalry that comes from a very realistic place of maladaptive coping and morphs into something more habitual and every day over time. also big love the casting choices for these two as children. this scene was amazing, it’s super short but i like this specific moment in it because it does a great job visually showcasing yuki and kyo’s immediate reactions and emotions to meeting one another for the first time.
4. (from 2x25)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i thought this whole sequence was incredibly well-done, but specifically i loved this part where the music swells and the loom crashes down onto the floor over akito’s repeated lines. also one of my favorite voice acting moments of the season, i loved akito delivering these lines through hiccups and sobs and trailing off into childish crying, and the art and animation was very visceral. seeing akito this out of control was amazing and kureno’s reactions to akito hit very very hard; it’s easy to sympathize with him and see why he would agree to this, and it contextualizes his decision to do so when all we the audience has seen before this is akito’s terrible and abusive behavior.
i also really liked kureno’s hands coming in towards akito to comfort, it reminded me of this
Tumblr media
from 1x9 but flipped; instead of kureno’s hands coming forward to comfort akito but representing his choice to trap himself in the curse, it’s akito’s hands coming from behind to force yuki to stay with akito against his will. they also both cut off very suddenly, which i like a lot.
3. (from 2x8)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this transition makes me go absolutely ballistic. visually i love akito and tohru turning to look over their shoulders in opposite directions, i just think it looks very sexy and it was a cool way to transition out of one scene and into another. i also like the mirrored body language to set them up as each other’s foils in these two scenes. akito brings kureno, who is functionally their love interest, out for a walk and then proceeds to belittle him, his status, and his opinions. tohru goes out with kyo, her love interest, so they can have a nice time at the beach. they have a very open conversation about the “monstrous” aspect to kyo where tohru validates and appreciates his thoughts and emotions. having these two scenes back to back was a really smart move to contrast our protagonist and antagonist and set them up as each other’s foils, and it’s definitely my favorite scene transition in the season.
2. (from 2x10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i loooove how insanely tense this scene is. i really like that shigure and akito are sitting in silence here until akito starts their monologue in full, and then the track is cut off at its crescendo by kureno’s knocking. the track being bookended by low ambient sound from outside makes it more impactful when it does start playing, and the track cutting off with the knocking makes the sound of akito’s clothes moving as they get up and the door sliding open while the camera is still trained on shigure’s expression deafening. i also like the shot choices in this scene, particularly the close-up of akito’s hands around shigure’s jaw and that we can only see their mouths, as well as the shot of shigure seething but partially blocked by akito’s torso. the voice acting in this scene is also bonkers good, particularly yuichi nakamura’s shigure.
this is the first time the audience has seen shigure mad, not just annoyed or frustrated, and that’s definitely a big part of why i love this scene. his conflict with akito adds a lot of depth to his character and i like seeing a different range of emotion from him than normal. i also just love the introduction of their whole relationship drama love triangle thing going on with the adults, i honestly think it’s hilarious that takaya baits the audience into thinking it’s going to be a love triangle between the teens and it just completely is not but is instead a deeply fucked up one between the older characters. truly a stroke of genius
1. (from 2x8)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love this whole scene so much. i think cinematically it’s gorgeous, i love that they’re surrounded by greenery and i really like the leaves starting to fall around them and the beams of sunlight behind tohru. those choices could have come off flashy and overdone but i feel the way it was directed was subtle enough that it didn’t feel like ibata was holding my hand through my emotions, but impactful enough that it’s an emotional gut punch every time i watch it. the moment where the flute ends with tohru’s internal line and transitions into strings/chimes mixed with the sfx of the wind rustling through the leaves is beautiful and probably my favorite use of soundtrack this season.
the reason i love this moment in particular so much is because it so encapsulates yuki and tohru’s relationship. she sees him so clearly and has been in his life long enough to tell that his reaction to rin is a marked change from who he was when they first met. she also knows that yuki working through his trauma over akito is something he needs to do on his own, and that the best thing she can do for him is to support him and show him that she loves him. on yuki’s end, he already knows tohru will support him unconditionally, but he’s now at a place where he’s able to accept it in stride and knows without a doubt that she’s there for him. this little moment really showcases what their whole relationship is about and was gorgeously done. this scene very quickly became one of my favorites when the episode came out and i’m pleasantly surprised that it’s stayed there; in fact, it was totally enhanced by the development of their relationship this season, which has undoubtedly become my favorite relationship in all of fruits basket. i think a friendship as deep as this one is a rare gem in fiction, let alone one between a man and a woman. this whole exchange is very beautiful and touching and a great summation of what they both mean to each other.
