What are your top five "they either would or should put 'It's Complicated' as their relationship status" ships for Star Wars?

INTERESTING, alright, here are some:

1) Dooku/Jocasta. They may or may not have slept together is something many have conspired over, but we can never know. Though, one time, Jocasta was grilling Dooku about something, he had his version of heart eyes switched on. When inquired, he only stared them down [Qui-Gon Jinn is not deterred].

2) Jango/Shaak Ti. Baby clones consider her Parent #1. They consider Jango as The Prime. Baby clones have seen them argue with bared teeth and snapping words about being ‘an idiotically stubborn of a man’ and that she should ‘throw her Jedi wisdom elsewhere’. Baby clones have also seen them kiss each other before Prime closed the door with a slam of his fist. It is a confusing day for a kid.

3) Obi-Wan/Alpha-17. They have enough history from the time they worked together in the earliest parts of the war. Yes, they slept together. No, Obi-Wan would deny ever seeing Alpha again. Alpha himself wouldn’t give you a reply as he stands there, stoic. However, Cody had the unfortunate business of having an eyeful of something he would rather not see when he was seeking advice from his general, and he would rather not go through it again.

4) Wolffe/Ventress. I’d like to thank @/tench for introducing me to this pairing (see their art here and here) because I do love the idea of old man Wolffe and Ventress actually liking each other in Rebels era. But, they’d be soo awkward and only start getting affectionate with each other in the middle of their rocky alliance because ‘hey, this person isn’t so bad nowadays, even if they tried to kill me in the past’. But sometimes it can be weird. And they’d rather die than admit that to anyone at that point, so now they’re unknowingly, openly showing affection and would outright deny it in your face.

5) Cody/Anakin. WELL. Anakin wouldn’t make it complicated, would rather not make it complicated with how freely he gives his love, but Cody is a man of responsibility and he would keep this under a tight lid unless they manage to be alone. Anakin’s a Jedi general, Cody’s a Marshal Commander, they both have very important roles to play when they’re in the GAR, but Cody will not breathe a word of this to anyone unless fed with five bottles of tihaar to make his tongue loose. And that’s if anyone’s that lucky.

In the very first episode of The Clone Wars, the episode where we're meant to understand the foundations of who the characters are, what they believe, we see Yoda explicitly saying that Jek, Thire, and Rhys have the Force residing in them and they can use it to calm their minds, too.

This is a deliberate parallel to how Yoda teaches Luke, showing that the Jedi believed the clones were just as worthy of being taught as a Force-sensitive was: Dave Filoni:  “You see Yoda teaching the clones much like he taught Luke. ‘Cause that was kind of natural for [the Jedi], a natural instinct to take to these clones like they’re students.  It really allowed Yoda to have a scene that was reminiscent of a scene that we both liked growing up, when he was teaching Luke.” Their explanation for what the Force is that it's generated by all living things, they say "May the Force be with you" to non-Jedi, they respect that other Force cultures (like the Lasats or the Bardottens or the Nightsisters) exist and have their own ways, etc. The Jedi are consistently shown to not believe they have any kind of monopoly on the Force or trying to stop anyone from using the Force unless they are actively plotting to hurt, murder, or oppress people. Jedi are absolutely fine with these people existing:

As for the Jedi especially not wanting women to use the Force--in every scene we see of the High Council, there are always multiple women present??? Depa Billaba, Shaak Ti, Yaddle, Adi Gallia, Stass Allie (and I often argue that TCW was making a case of prepping Aayla Secura for future Councilhood), as well as Luminara Unduli and Jocasta Nu are clearly in well-respected positions of leadership and aren't treated any differently than the male characters???

“Knight Kenobi,” Mace Windu greeted. “What can the Jedi Council do for you?”

“Master Windu,” Obi-Wan bowed politely to him and the members of the council that were with him. “Pursuant to Section 3 Subclause 7 of the—”

“Kenobi, please.” Mace pinched the bridge of his nose. “Just spit it out.”

Obi-Wan grinned, lifting his arms to show off his mismatched kom'rke. “My friends, I am leaving the Jedi Order. As the spouse of a system ruler it would be inappropriate—”

Master Shaak Ti leapt to her feet, pointing at several other Masters. “Pay up!” she shouted. “Who wins the betting pool? Me!”

“I told you all. Quinlan said he took Qui-Gon's river rock,” Master Tholme chuckled, looking entirely smug. “Obi-Wan wasn't coming back this time.” He and Master Nu shook hands.

Mace Windu sighed and pulled something out of his sleeve to throw it at Shaak Ti. “You couldn't have married the Mand'alor on your trip four years ago and won me the pool?” he asked.

“Or waited until after you Knighted your Padawan?” Master Plo Koon pleaded.

“I must move as the Force wills me, Masters,” Obi-Wan said, projecting an air of earnest seriousness.

So originally I was gonna do 3, but this one got REALLY long, sooo....

May I present the Jedi Get Hitched AU?

I posted about it once before here (and it got FANART!!!!) but other than that I haven't said much of anything else, soooo... here's more! and it's ENORMOUSLY self-indulgent.

The basic premise of the AU is that the clone wars end happily except the clones don't have rights but the Jedi find a loophole that will make them recognized as sentient citizens if one of them marries a Jedi, cue Aayla kicking open the door to the jedi council with bly in tow like I VOLUNTEER

ANYWAY. bly and aayla get married (they both freak out about it and Fox and Quinlan respectively have to give them pep talks before the wedding.) All seems well... and then Anakin saunters into the Jedi Council room one day and brings up that now that they're getting married (it was a one time thing, skywalker--) NOW THAT THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED, maybe they should consider that perhaps it would lower political tensions if a Jedi married, like, a senator or a planetary ruler or something. and the council is all like 🙄 skywalker we know this is just about you and senator amidala and he's like what??? haha no, i was talking about obi-wan and duchess satine. but while we're on the topic, i could definitely marry senator amidala too. she just adopted those twins and i could help raise them. they're force-sensitive, what a crazy coincidence amiright?? and plo and shaak are just lowkey planning their wedding and subsequent adoption of All Their Sons and mace. mace wants a break. please.

fast forward in time. Several more jedi have gotten married. Mace has retired from the council, citing "an excess of tomfoolery and nuptials" as his reason. Anakin married Padme, Obi-Wan married Satine and they officially adopted Korkie as their son, and Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress got married. Vostress is also currently running a jedi-nightsister exchange student program...

...which is how Merrin, 16 and slightly awkward but eager to learn more, ends up in the Jedi Temple, with a few other Nightsisters, though they're all a few years younger than her. Cal is assigned to give them the tour.

"Welcome to the Jedi Temple!" he says, holding one hand out to her and the other hand waving around them, indicating basically the whole jedi temple. it's supposed to be just a gesture, but then Merrin puts her hand in his. Completely seriously. Cal is like "...okay" and they hold hands for the rest of the tour.

Five years later, there is a second jedi-nightsister wedding.

Jocasta is delighted at the number of records being set within her lifetime.

(Jocasta is also officiating all the weddings, btw.)

A couple years after Mace resigns from the council, he decides to plan a shatterpoint lineage family vacation. So Mace, Depa, Grey (who is an unofficial part of their family), Caleb, and Caleb's brand-new Padawan, 11-year-old Ezra (who is pretty young to be a padawan, but he was following caleb around all the time anyway so caleb figured he might as well just make the apprenticeship official), all pack up... and go to Ryloth.

Caleb, who twenty-five at this point, promptly gets his first crush.

Mace Regrets This Vacation. He's actually started seeing marriage Shatterpoints. Depa and Grey, meanwhile, think it's really really funny that Caleb gets flustered around Hera, and Ezra has made more than a few insinuations about political alliances via marriage. Depa warns him that Caleb will get his revenge, but Ezra dismisses it. (Said revenge does come about, several years later, in the form of Caleb asking if Madame Nu needs to prepare to officiate the second Jedi-Mandalorian marriage in recorded history. Ezra kicks him in the shin. smh padawans these days just have NO respect for their masters.)

Ezra highly encourages Caleb to marry Hera.

It does not take much convincing.

this is the jedi OC i made when i was ten. i have decided to reanimate him because cringe is dead. also he is very easy to draw. their special force power is that they control computers with his mind. like he accesses panels from afar, or auto pilots his ship, or mind controls droids. but he is really easily distracted and whenever he does force stuff he has to have total silence. they were friends with shaak-ti because she is my favorite jedi, and they were trained by jocasta nu because she is my other favorite.

when i was little i assumed he would die at the end of the clone wars because i thought all of the jedi died except obiwan. but having seen most of the star wars stuff as an adult, godamn are there a lot of jedi that didn’t get sixtysixed. so i say he survived

for a jedi knight, he is really bad at sword fighting. which is still good, but ya know. so his lightsaber does this thing where it like pulses which makes it hard to sword fight him. it also has a button that interrupts the containment field for a second so all the plasma goes out like a blaster bolt. that, and other unorthodox lightsaber applications, is why he has a bandolier full of batteries.

he really likes that he still has his jedi star fighter and he keeps it working and painted. at great personal expense

Master Vos shrugs at the assembled Council members.

“That’s all we’ve got. We know that the Sith has been playing a long game. We know that they have ties to the Separatists, if only through Dooku. We know that they have high-level influence or authority in the Senate and the GAR. We know that there is a growing Darkness centred on this hemisphere of Coruscant. But beyond that, we’re at a dead end. We’d have just as much luck throwing darts at a list of names. A list consisting, mind you, of half the Senate, two-thirds of the GAR admiralty, and most of the adults in the Order. I’ll keep looking, but at this point we need a miracle.”

Master Vos leaves, and there is a long moment of silence as the Council processes the situation. It is hard not to feel hopeless.

“Very well then, if we are all to be suspects, I accuse Ki-Adi of being the Sith Lord. You stole the last seaweed cookie in the refectory yesterday. Surely a sign of great evil.”

No.

Everyone jumps as the Force chimes in response to Kit’s joke, chuckles running around the room as the tension breaks.

“Really Master Fisto, what an accusation! How does the saying go, ‘you snooze, you lose’? If we are attempting wild guessing now, then we might as well start at the top. Master Yoda, just how long have you been hiding as a Sith in our midst?”

No.

“Offended, I am. Sith, I am not. Too much work, all that scheming is. Particularly when deployed, a certain someone is, and leave me with his flimiswork he does. Sith Lord, Master Windu is, hm?”

No.

“It was your turn and you know it. But if we’re talking about headaches, I’m calling out Skywalker as the Sith. I’m tired of the migraine I get any time that walking shatterpoint enters the room.”

…no.

Everyone straightens to attention.

“That… was a very tentative ‘no’.”

“Does that mean that Skywalker is involved?”

“Is the Sith Lord close to him?”

YES.

As the ringing dies away Obi-wan shifts uncomfortably, everyone in the room either looking at him or studiously avoiding doing so.

“Obi-wan?” It is Depa who breaks the awkward silence. “For the record’s sake, I have to ask. Are you the Sith Lord?”

No.

“See, I always told you I was incorruptible.” His smug smile can’t hide the worry in his eyes.

It is Saesee who speaks next.

“If not the Master, then perhaps the Padawan? I hesitate to re-open wounds, but with the timing of Ahsoka Tano’s leaving the Order, could she be…?”

No. “Little ‘Soka would never! And she is far too young besides.”

The Force and Plo object at the same time, prompting a ripple of guilt and regret through the group.

“Look outside the Order, we must. Married, Skywalker is. A different bond, that could hide. The Sith Lord, Amidala could be?”

No.

Obi-wan glares.

“Really. Are we just going to start listing everyone Anakin spends time with? Who’s next; Admiral Yularen, Captain Rex? Madame Nu, Master Drallig, the rest of this room? Dex? Are you going to start listing out every single one of his troopers? You might as well suspect the Chancellor of the Republic while you’re at it!”

Shaak Ti leans forward in her seat, blue hologram flickering as she frowns.

“Why haven’t we suggested him yet? He fits all the criteria Master Vos brought us. He has been mentoring Skywalker for years. And I know that we have repeatedly raised concerns at the increasing scope of his emergency powers. Is Chancellor Palpatine the Sith Lord?”

There is absolute and deafening silence in the Force.

With a growing sense of dread, they all focus their attention and Mace repeats the question.

“Is Sheev Palpatine, current Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, the Sith Lord and Master we have been searching for?”

Very faintly, as though straining to be heard through the empty void of space or thick clouds of choking darkness, the answer reaches them.

Shmi is a renowned heart surgeon. Best there is in the country (not just the state thank you very much) and she did it all while her son was young. Her grandmother (Grandma Mira) and her two cousins (Peli Moto and Beru Whitesun ) both helped her out a ton. She is admired and Skywalker is a name very well known in medical circles.

She decided to became a heart surgeon when her own mother (insert name here) died from a heart issue that no one wanted to touch surgically. Anakin was 9 years old. Anakin has his mom up on a pedestal - she is perfect and smart, the best surgeon, the best mom, she’s done it all. Anakin feels the pressure to be just as good as his mom. People expect him to be just as brilliant and successful as his mother. He expects it from himself. Shmi just wants him to be happy. Anakin is ready to start his residency at 25. His mother is in line to be chief of surgery at the hospital she works at (Twin Suns Medical Center). Its considered the hospital to intern at if you want your specialty to be heart surgery. Anakin isn’t really sure what he wants to specialize in, and he doesn’t want people to say that he got it easy during his internship. So he goes to the next best thing (it’s actually the number one hospital overall in the country but to Anakin is second to the hospital where shmi works because Shmi works there). He goes to Jedi Coruscant General Hospital. Was it coffee during lunch. Sorry!” Ferus Olin, a childhood nemesis makes his appearance. He’s assigned to be Padme’s intern (the woman who gave him back his engagement ring when he was 22 and 27. He hadn’t realized she was back in town and that maybe it was purposeful that he didn’t know). Its turning out to be a truly shit day and then the pretty red head from the parking lot makes his appearance and anakin wants to sink into the ground. But. The red head picks him to help him with a surgery. … Its pretty much a grey’s anatomy AU. Obi-Wan and anakin start hooking up pretty much immediately. Ferus Olin and Anakin make nice and turn out to be pretty decent friends. Then. Anakin realizes that Padme had kids, with him. The twins. And never told him. 🤯. That’s smoothed over. He’s a dad now. He loves it. Obi-Wan’a supportive. Their secret relationship is starting to not be so secret anymore. Then. obi-wan’s ex wife (Satine Kryze) pop in with a kid. obi-wan’s kid. Obi-Wan never told him that he’d been married or that he had a kid. They break up. Anakin thinks about quitting. Then about transferring. Then gets side tracked because Aunt Beru (his mom’s cousin) got married and her husband’s dad was in a bad car crash. Its all hands on deck to save his life. Shmi makes an appearance at the hospital and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin is Shmi’s son 🤯 Owen’s dad makes it. Anakin and Obi-Wan make up. Their relationship is outted but everything works out. There’s other small and big dramas but thats pretty much it lol
