you have to be utterly insane to not see how much tokinaga and obikawa love each other (along with the ongoing co-dependence, enabling, worshipping, genuine connection, devotion, mutual respect, cannibalism-equals-love thematic, sacrifices, etc…) it pains me that they’re so criminally underrated

“i’ll follow you wherever you go.”
translates into ‘even if it means to die together’, that much is obvious. obikawa would rather eat tokinaga than let him suffer, he offers that grace only to him.

they’ve spent far too much time together (intimately so, awfully domestic, overly familiar) for it to ever amount to nothing. both of them are too deep into whatever it is that they’ve got going on.

Obitoki fantasy au: Obikawa is a dragon ofc but he turns into a human to reclaim back some of his stolen hoard. This is just the set up for obikawa to then kidnap tokinaga like hes a princess in a tower. Tokinagas either just a dude or a wizard who can only use time magic. Picture this: a tired and done with life looking tokinaga atop a pile of gold, dragon obikawa happily circled around him. I have no other thoughts.

✨ — twinkle, twinkle, little star!
a headcanon from my muses’ childhood or and a nursery-rhyme they remember from that time.
Until the age of seven, Tsuna spent every waking moment with her mother, for her father was often on long sea voyages from Othard to Thavnair. When Orihime would catch wind of his ship's arrival, it would always mean a feast for the three of them to celebrate. Her mother's sekihan was a treat she always looked forward to-- and for more than just the taste. Her father was meant to reach shore once more on the week of Tsuna's coming-of-age (obitoki-no-gi), but with the invasion of the Garleans becoming an imminent threat, his voyage was delayed. Tsuna and her mother ate sekihan that day alone, unknowing that it would be the last. While not a nursery-rhyme per se, her favorite bedtime story of her mother's was the one of the Ruby Prince: a tale in which a Hyuran fisherman and an Auri princess were brought together by a Kojin and wed in a palace under the sea. Every time her mother told it, the tale would be embellished-- much to Tsuna's delight-- but what Tsuna found the most fascinating was that the son they bore was said to have had almost no scales at all.
#thank you for sending!!#never done this before for Tsuna so im stretching my legs#some notes: sekihan is sticky rice with adzuki beans usually eaten in general celebration or for a young girl's coming of age/menarche#shichi-go-san celebrates when a child reaches 3 5 and 7 but obitoki-no-gi are for girls only#so I imagine that was one of the first times Tsuna recalls wearing a kimono#as for the bedtime story-- im glad i have an in-game reason to explain her predisposition for Hyur men LOL don't @ me#asks ; playing postmoogle#lore ; weaving a story.

Shichi-Go-San kimono for a 7 year-old girl
(This kimono is actually one that can be rented for Shichi-Go-San celebrations but based on the calendar on the Rakuten listing, it looks like it was rented a lot for New Year celebrations too, lol. Since it's for a 7 year-old, this set might be for Obitoki-no-Gi, the first time a girl is considered old enough to wear an obi and not just a cloth belt).

cannibalism as a ‘metaphor’ for love except it’s never been this literal before, never this misunderstood before

(after god, what are you doing to me? seriously.)

this is making me feel a type of way that’s similar to how you’d feel after seeing an absolutely gut wrenching movie. one that leaves you feeling hollowed out but oddly somber, pleased. yet there’s still something that gnaws at your conscience.

obikawa giving up parts of (offering) himself to tokinaga just to ensure that he can live comfortably, live a little longer. remain at his side because (as i’ve stated before) neither of them could survive separation, not anymore. i give you parts of me without asking for anything in return. i give you parts of me because i see /us/, not just me or you. i cannot bear the thought of ever losing you or watching you decay and ultimately crumble into dust. obikawa previously worried that tokinaga would only see him as an object or value him merely as a drug, something that would hide the ‘hideous’ parts of him away that he wishes he wouldn’t have to deal with (which obikawa unfortunately isn’t aware of, for jow at least) but then he realizes in chapter 77 that they both care for each other in an awfully raw manner. the body language speaks for itself (and it speaks volumes at that, tokinaga’s childlike and uncharacteristic happiness; something we only got to see in specific circumstances and ironically enough when he was able to sleep well thanks to obikawa[‘s drug] and his tears of happiness, pure and unadulterated glee to see obikawa back in one piece, rushing in to hug him despite the possible danger of the knife in the taller’s hands.)

#after god#after god analysis#after god manga#after god spoilers#after god tokinaga#tokinaga sachiyuki#tokinaga#obikawa#obikawa kiyoshi#after god obikawa#obitoki#these two drive me insane. can you tell#i have so much to say but my brain is constantly overflowing with thoughts so it’s hard to speak coherently at times or make sense out of it

Made a compilation of Obikawa worrying about Tokinaga because I can.
May follow up with a compilation of Obikawa taking care of/trying to cheer up Tokinaga too, as a treat.

七五三 - Shichi-Go-San
Shichi-Go-San, literally meaning “7-5-3,” is one of Japan’s two major coming of age holidays. Although it is officially celebrated on November 15th, the celebrations usually come the weekend after.

The holiday is a day of prayer and celebration for girls age 3 and 7, and boys age 3 and 5, because odd numbers are traditionally seen as lucky. Although the holiday began in the Heian Period (平安時代), it wasn’t until samurai culture became widespread that Shichi-Go-San gained most of its modern traditions.
A type of candy known as “Chitose-ame” or “candy of a thousand years” (千歳飴) is given to children on this holiday. The packaging has a picture of a crane and a turtle on it, which are both animals that are symbols of longevity and health.

The age 3 is chosen because traditionally, this is the age that parents begin to let their children grow their hair longer. While this practice is no longer as widespread as it once was, the age of 3 still remains an important milestone.
Boys at the age of 5 wear what is called a hakama (袴) for the first time during Shichi-Go-San in a celebration called hakamagi (袴着). Similarly, at the age of 7, girls transition from wearing thin strands on their kimono to the thick, decorated band known as an obi (帯) during a celebration called obitoki (帯解き).
