the venus cycle, lovingly nicknamed "vgb" (vee gets bitches) is the trilogy my fiance @deadhorse77 and i are writing together. it centers on a strange town where, when new people arrive, they completely forget that they were ever from anywhere else, and their history molds itself to fit the city. it's also about a bunch of trans people who all kinda suck in their own way and end up in the worlds worst polycule, with one shared daughter!

characters

vee/venus | they/them - one of the two narrating characters, they are the catalyst and the story begins with their arrival to the city. what they don't realize makes them special is that they remember their life beforehand, and instead they focus on situating themself in the lives of everyone they meet. with their arrival, the narrative dominos begin to fall. also, they're a whore and get involved with everyone else.

the chronicler | he/him - immensely private, TC keeps his name hidden from everyone. the other narrating character, he seeks to puzzle out the mystery of the city. while he doesn't have any personal memory of his life before the city, he's aware of the effects it has on its inhabitants memory. additionally, he's prone to stalking the "people of interest" of the city, trying to figure out what their role in the story is. loserly academic vibes, like a jon sims who doesn't even have the archives going for him. he has the looks of a depressed english professor and the soul of a whore for fucking real. paris | he or she (not simultaneously) - titled the scholar by TC, paris is a nosy bitch who wants to know everything about everything and everyone--and knows pretty damn close to it. part fairy, and takes advantage of that extended lifespan to spend more time studying at the city college and to get into everyone's business. if you want to know something, paris is your fairy. also, he's genderfluid, swapping pronouns accordingly!

the oracle/sybil | fae/it - while the most obvious trait about it is faer gift of prophecy, sybil has many other skills, like being a bitch to basically everyone it meets. fae're the other fairy in our main cast, and sick to death of humans who want to get their futures seen.

jax | they/them - a member of the city police force, the detective is about as corrupt as it gets. they're violent, angry, and use their position of power to get away with everything. as an unfortunate blow to their credibility, they're also convinced that there's demons in the town, and that they'll be the one to catch one. also, they're down bad for the king.

the king | re/rem (he/they auxiliary) - like TC, the king keeps rheir name close to rheir chest, as well as a plethora of other secrets. from any surface level perception, the only things re cares about is gaining more money and more power within the city, as well as a certain member of rheir staff. don't look deeper than that, you probably won't like what you find.

the ram | arieself - part of what you'll find when you look deeper, the ram is the king's bodyguard. fully controlled by the king, air is rheir "pet project". immensely volatile and simultaneously a doormat in the face of the king's power. eventually, air will be able to come to terms with aries own power, but that time is far off still.

petra | they/them - said certain member of the king's staff, petra generally does not give a shit about the situations unfolding around them. they view most people on a spectrum of neutrality to dislike, and are deeply apathetic. also they have low empathy autist swag!

mama/eudora | any (written with just they/he/she for convenience) - eudora, fondly nicknamed "mama" by most, is the caretaker of the weeping girl, and a deeply caring person with a tendency to take lost souls under their wing. he's a mom friend to her core, and also? that's a fucking MILF babyyy!

the weeping girl | she/her - the heart of the city, though most don't know it. a very long time ago, she was cursed into becoming a statue, forever crying. the fountain her tears create has healing properties, and her slumbering life force shields the city from outside forces.

while none of these characters know it yet, with vee's arrival everything they've known is on the brink of change. lives will be destroyed by their fun and flirty personality (joke + reference)

hey anon! I'm not tooo into babies, but the hypothetical was interesting to me. So, I gave it a go & drew an adult version of what a love child between them could look/be like. I don't have a name for him at the moment, so, sorry about that. I was just trying to build a general vibe. I was listening to Councillor by Arthur Beatrice and Ritual by Memotone while drawing him, so I think that created the duality of calm/sicko vibe he ended up with. haha

Edit: Maybe he would look better if i made his hair reach his calves or just above his ankles. It could look cool to have his pony tail multi-tiered all the way down.

🥕 [CARROT] How tough is your OC against certain situations? How weak are they against others?

very tough in the face of most kinds of adversity and challenge. he will keep pushing and pushing to get what he wants and never crack. he's even (usually) tough in the face of grief and loss. due to this, how weak he is in the face of [SPOILERS] really fucking surprises him.

he's particularly weak in situations of love--he doesn't know how to handle falling in love, being in love, and will never be able to deny someone he loves anything.

🍑 [PEACH] How do they show their kindness? How kind are they truly?

he's very bad at showing his kindness in ways people tend to understand except I'd say in the case of children. I think someone who interacts with him will be like wow this guy is cold I don't like him (when he was just being his normal self) and they'd be surprised to see the downright soft way he interacts with kids. the ways he does show his kindness... mostly just offering to help others meet their goals, because that's what's important to him and how he feels he can make an important connection with others.

he doesn't tend to show much kindness to someone without reason, but he isn't unkind. I wouldn't really classify him as a kind person either though. he's just kind of there? he just needs a reason to be actively/openly kind.

🍆 [EGGPLANT] How are they used by others? How easily are they tricked into this?

he can be convinced to do something for someone if he believes it is the right/righteous thing to do, or if he believes it will bring him closer to the truth he searches for. he's not gullible or naïve by any means, but if someone knows the right buzzwords to prod him with, it's not particularly difficult to use him. he's got a VERY strong sense of justice/right and wrong as well as an insatiable desire for the truth, and these can overpower his common sense.

she's very ends-justify-the-means if the ends are knowledge or learning something new. life doesn't mean that much to her (including her own life). part of that is the fact that she's not human and doesn't prioritize humans? she doesn't generally think murder is okay per se but would if necessary. she holds herself to a different standard than other people but doesn't judge others too harshly (generally).

🚬 smoking/drinking habits? signature brand or drink?

she's definitely into weed! and has tried some of the like. fairy drugs that are out of this fucking world. generally she'll try anything once to Know! this has led to some pretty bad trips. she doesn't really get the whole like. stigma around drugs and alcohol. she also drinks socially on the rare occasions she's social (particularly with jax) and likes fun and fruity beverages. doesn't really go in for cigarettes tho

🪓 would they make it to the end in a horror movie?

she could potentially make it, yeah. she's got the wherewithal to survive--she's very smart and aware of her surroundings, and doesn't really have moral qualms to hold back. plus she'd generally learn about whatever it was she was facing and be helped out by that.

HOWEVER! she might get herself killed due to the hubris. pride can easily be her downfall

⚖️ how do they seek justice?

she doesn't really have a strong sense of justice? which is part of her lack of ethics and also helps her get along with jax's own moral failings. she allows other people to seek their own justice because she doesn't see how it involves her, even if it's something that upsets her. if she were personally wronged, she just. wouldn't care that much? she's deffo not the type for any sort of vengeance quest. it's a waste of time and energy to her

corrupt cop (derogatory); they have a strong sense of justice but a weak moral compass and bad ways of enforcing it. they are generally not concerned about hurting people with few exceptions. they just don't value most people, excepting the people they care about, where their morals are somewhat improved. they're pretty hypocritical that way.

hidden flask type of guy! they're not super experimental but paris has convinced them to try new things on occasion. doesn't really care about weed but does smoke cigarettes now and then, particularly when anxious. socially drinks beer, the flask probably has whiskey. sees wine as too feminine for them. for the same reason, won't drink paris's fruity little concoctions

🪓 would they make it to the end in a horror movie?

no <3 too much pride, they'd get themself killed doing stupid shit trying to face off against the horror. they have the survival skills, they just would not use them. they see themself as untouchable and would be proved wrong.

with their own two hands. they pursue it very personally, and with a powerful drive. they don't defer to the justice system--they see themself as the law, not its enforcer. they could and would kill
