Concepts for Fantasy AU! Anita.

A young woman who had been training to be a mage for... an extremely long time. She has the skill, just not the drive. Her chosen spell craft is an expensive one with pricy materials. Due to her being a lazy coward, Anita rarely goes out adventuring or foraging for these materials on her own so she tries to buy them. Currently, she works at an inn/tavern and is a very poor waitress-slash-wench... but her fat lopping ass keeps her around.

She joins "Team Satisfaction" after being recruited by Vesta who is on a quest to get Inspiration for her master.

Eugene: Coyote Dream

Her coat looks more blue than grey, the fur around her jaws yellow. Lean. Skinny. She’s just at the edges of the trees and lifts her muzzle if Eugene gets too close. Retreats over and over under the sentinel pines. Sometimes the yellow on her jaws is red, and it drips from her teeth. It’s raining again and her soaked fur is almost purple. Blood pours from her mouth. She’s been hunting. For all her kills she stays ragged. He wonders if she’s eating. How she stays warm. Where her nest is. Late at night he builds a large box and fills it with straw for her. Anita Hicks asks him what he’s doing, touching his shoulder with concern when he tells her.

It’s been raining too much. The pines drip. He tries to follow the trail of blood, wishes it was winter again so he could see the drops in the snow. She loped away too quickly last night. Baring her teeth because she’s scared.

He finds a man’s arm under a pine. Chewed off under the shoulder - or maybe just worked at by a scavenger - and still bloody. But he can still make out the Shrike tattoo on the dead skin.

He’s asleep the first time he sees her kill someone. She looks different. Impossibly tall; long legged like a wolf. So much bigger than the small things he sees skirting the edges of camp at night. Long white teeth shred skin, blood spurting in her jaws when she opens the man’s throat.

Going to try to post more snippets on weekends! Right now, probably more from The Rain Crow (the second installment) since I’m trying not to look at The Butcher Bird until editing begins on October 1. At this point, I don’t think I’m going to post full chapters or sections. I may eventually, but I want to see how this goes with lil blurbs first!
