Dzamie ♠ Kenneth. Bitter rivals, and while they do tend to get along more these days, it's really just for concern for their surroundings that frequent spars don't turn significantly deadlier.

Dzamie ♢ HM. Although this does appear to turn flushed from time to time, it's most stable in pale. HM enables Dzamie's deception; Dzamie keeps HM's murder levels to a slightly more reasonable rate. They've been together since basically birth/hatching, and it's unlikely even death would separate them.

Rinta ♢ Kassar. There's a reason Azurel singled out Kassar to go with Rinta on their adventuring journey. They go together very well. Kassar keeps Rinta from attacking people for disrespecting dragons; Rinta is probably the more powerful fighter - at least while she's got spells.

I don't have a very good grasp on ashen, and don't think I have any anyways.

Voretober Day 31: Seek!

Kobolds have no gag reflex, which makes it very possible to retrieve things they've "accidentally" eaten. They're also short enough to actually reach down into their bellies and rummage around. Of course, this is all conditional on the kobold wanting to let your arm - and the rest of you - out.

At some point, Rekus is going to realize that he doesn't wear glasses. The question at this point is whether it'll be before or after he's curled up in Kassar's stomach.

Hair: Black as the night and as wild as the wind. Its often windswept and left to tumble in whatever fashion it decides. Recently deciding to pay homage to her roots, she leaves a white streak in her right bangs now with red ribbon wrapped around the end to show her connection to her people. When adventuring she’ll manage to tame it into a braid or pony-tail but she prefers having it down.

Eyes: Sapphire in color, and often lit up by her bright smile. Surrounded by long, thick black lashes that she loves to bat when acting innocent. Her eyes often give her feelings away for those who pay close enough attention.

Overwatch

Najma (Najma Daher)

When Naj was first made, they had Prima as placeholder name and their kit was based around light, but I struggled to really place them in the universe. They were still based in Oasis, with sumerian aesthetic, and they were an AU for a fandomless oc. I was still trying to pick where the heck they were from. I added Najma as possible name because it means star and is Arabic. As they finally developed to suit the universe more and be an own character, the name stuck, because I like it and they are a warm person and the sun keeps us alive, and Naj was made to help keep someone alive. Dunia, their owner, was named to reflect her meaning in Naj’s life. Dunia was their whole reason for existing, their world, their life. 

Najma coincidentally also works for…other reasons.

Najma’s code name, Nazar, comes from that their abilities are most effective when looking into their lights and optics, which flare up when they use their ult as well. Their optics are also blue.The evil eye, which causes harm upon those who have been struck by it.

I think Daher meant clear. Najma does’t actually have a surname, as they are not a member of the family rather than just property of said family. However, I still wanted the surname to be something with a tiny bit of a fitting meaning. Rather than doing it by naming conventions used with Mamun, I went with them just having just a family name, much in Europe and the US. I also kept it to just two names this time.

Mamun Wasif Said

Mamun had a long list of names on his hero sheet. See, the given name is an aspiratory trait, the second the father’s name, and the third the grandfather’s name or family name. In Mamun’s case, Said is his grandfather’s name. So, that means Mamun’s dad is called Wasif. Gien names he could have been Majdi (commendable, praiseworthy), Marwan, Naseer, etc. His surname could have been Assaf, Kassar, Al-Mansur (the victorious), or Nasrallah (god’s victory). Now, I am not at all close to being an expert on arabic naming conventions, so I was like let’s keep it simple. 

Now, Mamun is supposed to be a tank hero and his character design was made to emphasise that he is a soft and huggable man who deserves the whole world. He needed to look sweet,warm, trustworthy, and dependable. Mamun is a name that feels like it has soft edges. It’s gentle. There’s no hard tones in it. Mamun means dependable, which is something he wants to be and his parents would have wanted him to be as well. A good son, brother, and eventually (if he so wished) husband. 

I forgot what Wasif meant… I think I just liked how it sounded with Mamun compared to the other names listed along with it. I matched several names that were listed on his hero sheet behind Mamun and they didn’t sound nearly as good with it as Wasif did. It means ‘one who praises’.

Said was just a good name to follow Mamun Wasif with. It just wraps it up nicely when I wanted three names in there. It means happy. 

Spigel

Spigel’s name is explained in his bio, I think. The name is given because he’s able to copy the appearance of a person and uses this after eliminating them to blend into a faction he’s trying to infiltrate or wipe out. It takes observation of mannerisms, appearance, speech patterns, etc. to do a convincing guise, and once that is done, it will be like looking into a mirror for the target.

He was always called Spigel because that’s Luxembourgish for mirror. Sure, it’s not smart for the assassin to take a nickname from his own personal origin, but…it’s fine if a guy from Luxembourg gave him that nickname rather than him giving himself said nickname.

Roland Marie Schroeder 

Roland is a pretty common name in Luxembourg, and Marie is a common middle name. I liked Roland as a name, because is seems warm and strong, and Roland is a quiet dude at times, but even though he’s pretty small as well, he can take up a lot of social space just by being a little… dramatic. He would have liked the name because it is, as Monty Python would say, woody. At least, I think it was Monty Python, I’m not sure anymore and can’t find it.

Michael Abatangelo 

Michael was the general of the archangels, and putting Michael together with Abatangelo makes it sound close to Michelangelo. Though, the latter was on accident and I was like yep that’s his name now. I went through several names I don’t really remember. Michael was a strong name that also sounded pleasant.

Fable

Aidan Fawkes

Aidan is an Irish name that means fire. I didn’t know quite what to call him. I didn’t want a name that was just big strong man large energy. It needed to sound not too thick, in a way, maybe a little light to suit his personality. He also had a lot of energy growing up and was a sweet guy. 

His father’s name is actually Mac Lochlainn. That’s a reference and not chosen for the meaning because it’s not used on Aidan. Also, it’s just really nice sounding surname. His grandma on his father’s side’s surname was Kelly. A very common surname where they were from. Anyway, Aidan’s dad didn’t want his kids to have the disadvantage of having a foreign surname. The given names, however, weren’t too odd, and both of his parents did want to give him a link with his father’s heritage in their names. Furthermore, he was born with red hair. 

As such, Aidan was given as his name, and he was bestowed with the surname of his mother, Fawkes. I picked Fawkes because 1) It sounds good with Aidan 2) it means falcon, making his name fire falcon 3) Guy Fawkes. 

Duncan Reynold 

I know the hero in Fable 2 is called Sparrow. However, that is a title/nickname, not a legit name. Surely, his parents, whom Sparrow canonically knew, gave him a real name. I wanted him to have a legit name. I wanted him to be of scottish-type origin. Now, Duncan has tanned skin from being out and stuff and dark hair. He’s also a brawny guy. He would have picked himself a pretty awesome name that feels strong, also… it has can in it, because he can do it. I jest. 

Duncan is a mix of two parts. Together, these parts form a name meaning dark-haired warrior or dark warrior. Of course, he doesn’t know that. He just thinks it’s an awesome name. 

Reynold is a carry over from trying to give king Logan a surname. It’s also a mix or two elements, advice and rule. English meaning is wise/powerful ruler (or something like that. It can also be advice from a ruler or king’s advisor, but let’s ignore that). While Duncan was that, Logan eventually proved not be.

Mass Effect

Medesa Adrestis

It’s actually from Medusa, because she’s a bit of a protector who gets spun into a villain because of the methods she uses to protect herself and others, which is often violent and rather fatal, since slave traders deserve no rights. I think there was something else, but I forgot… Oh, right! Her surname, Adrestis. I saved it in my drafts and idk if it’s still there…

It’s from Adrestia and Adrasteia, and I didn’t want to name her exactly after that despite Asari names looking painfully ancient Greek inspired and very feminine. 

Adrestia is a figure from Greek mythology, she who cannot be escaped, venerated as a goddess of revolt and just retribution. Adrasteia, “inescapable”, was a nymph charged with taking care of a child Zeus. Medesa was charged with taking care of Toreg. 

Vicarius Hzzek and Lictor Kgrln

So, I won’t explain their names, because I assume Kett names are either just ID codes or can’t be easily changed into a more human tongue. I will go for their titles, though I believe I have explained it in a hc post before. Kett ranks seem based on Roman Empire influences, as is a part of their culture in general. They have Cardinals, Archons, Anointed, Ascendants. These seem religious. A Vicarius is a word that means substitute or deputy. It’s the root of the English word “vicar” as well and is used in things like vice-president. Anyway, Hzzek is a secondary to a Cardinal, making her vice-cardinal of an exaltation facility. 

As for Lictor, this comes from another Latin thing. A Lictor is a type of bodyguard to a magistrate. Kgrln is one of Hzzek’s Destined, who is also assigned with escorting and guarding her. He does this together with other Destined who would also be of the Lictor role/title. 

Dragon Age

Kata

Kata used to be an arvaarad and he considered himself the death of many a saarebas. That, and he is an assassin type, like a katari. He brings death to those who try to oppose him with violence, so basically he’s still death, just to other people now that he’s no longer in the qun. It’s sort of a method of intimidation. If a qunari is told they’re about to meet death, they might reconsider their current course. 

Kost

Kost had another name, aban, which probably means sea, when going by “Meraad astaarit, meraad itwasit, aban aqun.” Which means “The tide rises, the tide falls, the sea is unchanged.” He chose it, because the sea is unchanging and also clam. He was the same after leaving the qun as he was when he left. 

Eventually, however, he changed his name to Kost, after staying with a group of Tal-Vashoth who helped him become less stuck in his qun ways and more able to see himself as a person. He came to be at peace with himself and took on the task of assisting some other new Tal-Vashoth in the process. As such, he took on the name Kost, “peace”, to reflect this.

Antigone: Various trinkets shes picked up from traveling the different planes. I imagine shes taken a stone from each one shes explored

Brigid: Various spell components or small cosmetics

Cosette: dried flowers small animal bones or wholeass dead rodents

Dantae: the miniature charm form of their glass armonica :3

Eden: pearls, shells, and cool pieces of seaweed most likely. She doesn't collect the shells though, she keeps them to offer to crabs who are molting

Endymion: leaf cuttings or various flowers that Yucca could grow into a new plant

Ember: "Lucky" rocks and a rabbit pelt she cuddles when shes lonely

Hyssop: Scraps of paper with poetry or small songs he wants to bring to his mother's grave

Sylvia (dragon): STRAWBERRIES!!! she loves them. favorite color is... probably like an iridescent black. don't tell Sleek; the hesitant courting is cute

Azurel Dracolis - Large blue dragon. Also Dzamie's dragon transformation and my primary RP character. Generally in control of the situation, and rather protective of his loyal kobold den, the VitAzurels. Has been known to kidnap a princess or prince, and gets either a ransom or a meal out of them.

Rinta VitAzurel - Kobold mage, equipped with a staff directly from Azurel's hoard! She learned through some books he has, and has a penchant for size-changing magic... though prefers to use it on other people. Before Azurel sent her and Kassar to join a nearby city's Adventurer's Guild, she tended to shrink intruders and either swallow them or stick them between her legs. A bit of a dragon fanatic, even for a kobold.

Kassar VitAzurel - Kobold fighter, given sword and shield from Azurel's hoard. Sent with Rinta to become an adventurer, is a bit more... understanding of non-kobold beliefs, and generally tries to keep his fellow bold out of trouble.

Grace (slime) - Slime griffoness who hangs around in Azurel's lair. Friendly, outgoing, and loves physical contact. Often horny. Perfectly safe to be inside, unless you keep on insisting that you're trying to kill her. That gets your body turned into hers, fatally. Cannot fly, but can either puppet around whoever's inside her, or let herself be moved around by the same.

Grace (not) - Experimental fursona. She's on this list because I've drawn her once or twice. Generally a bit perkier than Dzamie and Azurel. Not an RP character.

Rekus - Dragonslayer-in-training panther, a bit gullible. Good fighter, unless he's up against a dragon. Admittedly don't have a strong personality for him.

Sinera - Fox mage, possibly the second living katul (the furry species) to learn magic, taught by Dzamie. Uses a brush or pencil to draw sigils in the air. Again, not much personality.

Galleon - MLP griffon, a bit cocky. Has quick claws and surprisingly good flight control for a non-pegasus. Has a good nose for finding legal means to keep his omnivorous diet - or at least keeping out of trouble with the illegal means.

Razzle - size-shifting Salazzle, and Dazzle's twin. Rarely uses her pheromones, but does have a bit of an ego (doesn't take it out on people directly, but she's no stranger to an "everyone will be mine!" villain soliloquy). Has basically no sex drive. Possibly ace?

Dazzle - size-shifting shiny Salazzle, and Razzle's twin. Basically the stereotype of a horny, enthralling Salazzle. Envies Razzle a little since Razzle doesn't rely on pheromones to get people to like her.

Wendy - friendly lemon shark (has stripes tattooed on her back for the "tiger shark" joke), works at an aquarium as a show diver (hops in to feed the fish and give relevant facts to visitors over the speakers). Occasionally picks up a side gig as a moat shark for a villain, or rescues shipwreck survivors as a hobby - though she does first ask if they'd rather she eat or save them.

Cerise - Velociraptor pack leader (Jurassic Park style raptor), marked by a dark red stripe down her snout and back. Able to read English, and takes great pleasure in outsmarting humans, often fatally.

ooh, let's pick a few OCs, then

Dzamie: Purrs, returns a kiss on your snout, and drapes his arms over your shoulders. Ever the flirt.

HM: A nod. Maybe a small lick on the snout.

Dream: Smiles and pats you on the head. You seem too nice to ruin your face with a kiss.

Azurel: Returns a kiss on your snout. The tip of his tail flicks a little, if you can see it.

Sel'riss: Wraps you in one loose coil, hugs you, and flickers his forked tongue against your snout. He'll let you go if you already have other plans for... oh, the next hour or two.

Rinta and Kassar: EXTREMELY excited kobold yips. They approach to hug you but wait until invited to do so. At least one arm wraps around your upper inner thigh; while convenient for their height, this is definitely on purpose.

Vanille: Verbally thanks you, and blows a puff of sweet-smelling breath over you.

William: Claps you on the shoulder, grins, and calls you a friendly guy. Then tells you to please go stand at least ten feet away until he's finished this step of his lab test.

Sylvia (dragon): A surprised squeak, then flies up to your head to return the favor with a lick from snout to horns. Invariably asks if you'd mind her eating you (she is going to eat you for a little, regardless).

Oh man, eventually I need to draw them all and do a proper, like, conspiracy-board shipping chart. But let's start with:

Dzamie, HM, Dream: polycule, open relationship

Dzamie, HM: rider and dragon, a la Eragon and Saphira. Trust each other with their lives in a heartbeat.

William, Vanille: couple, also work partners

Sleek -> Sylvia: crush

Dzamie, [Dream, Sylvia, occasionally Vanille]: he helps them through heat. Most others die. He'd probably help Sleek if she asked, but she's more fond of taking victims.

Meet Rinta! Seen here in her preferred position in regards to... well, most people who aren't dragons or kobolds.

Rinta, like all other kobolds, is a dragon supremacist. Not as in "dragons ought to rule everything," but "a non-dragon is as capable of being overall better than a dragon as a granite slab is capable of safely catching an egg." As such, she generally considers Azurel the pinnacle of existence, shortly followed by every other dragon, and then a MASSIVE gap to find kobolds (including honorary kobolds) before a very small step down to just about everyone else.

While some kobolds, like Kassar, have a pretty solid grasp on "other people don't share your values, and it is often a waste of time to try to fix that," others, like Rinta, find it difficult to comprehend that some people don't like dragons or those associated with them. So, while she does consciously know that a group of fellow guild adventurers don't like kobolds, all the pranks they do "to really give her the dragon treatment (derogatory)" are interpreted by her as fantastically stupid people "trying their hardest to treat her like a little dragon (honorable):"

swapping her cooked beef cafeteria lunch for assorted raw meats and possibly a dead rat gets seen as helping her resist human influence on her diet in favor of normal kobold food

stealing off her clothes because it's not like dragons wear anything gets seen as an agreement with her own position; unfortunately there do seem to be laws around this so she does need those back, or at least someone's.

taking adventuring jobs she seemed interested in before she can gets seen as them helping her remember to delegate important tasks to her lessers

swinging a blade way too close because "whoops, Rinta, thought that was the world's smallest dragon" is just straight-up taken as a compliment on her appearance

Luckily for Rinta's life expectancy, the massive gap between dragons and everyone else overshadows the smaller "kobolds vs non-kobold non-dragons" gap to the point that it just manifests at feeling particularly proud whenever someone's at her or Kassar's mercy. And maybe a little bit of monologuing at her next snack or temporary dildo.
