ROTTMNT Love Interests Headcanon

If the Rise boys were ever given love interest, here’s who I headcanon they should’ve been and what their dynamic would be like:

Note: Raph and Mikey's love interest are my OCs/HCs of a Rise version of existing characters.

Leo’s love interest would be Yuichi

Leo met Yuichi through Hueso, who Yuichi works for as a new waiter for his restaurant in the Yokai city

Suddenly Leo constantly wants to go to Hueso's restaurant for lunch/dinner and his brother quickly figure out it's only because he wants to gawk at the cute new waiter.

Leo is overly flirty but Yuichi doesn’t notice him, not that he’s uninterested, it’s just he has lots of admirers, so sadly Leo in the beginning blends into the crowd.

It’s not until Leo takes a more forward approach by hitting on him with a cheesy pick up line, then proceeds to trip over himself and be humiliated by everyone, except Yuichi. He found the act endearing and Leo has now caught his eye.

Yuichi finds Leo annoying at first, but also charming/endearing thought he hates to admit it

*flirts* *flirts back* “I was not expecting this outcome, tf I do now??”

Leo tells a dumb joke and Yuichi thinks he’s a comedic genius.

They spar together, exchanging sword fighting tips/techniques

Hueso is their third wheel

Raph’s love interest would be Mona Lisa

My HC on how they first met (I guess you could say she really FELL for him ;D )

Mona is obviously in love with him but Raph is painfully oblivious. Everyone knows she likes him except Raph.

“She’s just a really good friend!” *said "friend" is wearing a shirt that says "I <3 Raphael"*

Raph would be very obvious to Mona's flirtatious actions towards him and not realize he's being hit on. Everyone knows Mona likes him, except Raph himself.

It took Raph a whole year to realize he liked Mona too. His bros can't comprehend his obviously stupidity when he asked his bros if he should ask Mona out and says he's worried she doesn't like him back (Raph end up freaking out and nearly faints when his bros tell him Mona has liked him the entire time)

She fell first, but he fell harder

For a while, Raph is conflicted with asking her out for a few reasons:

1) “What if she lost interest in me and I’m too late?!”

2) He feels he’s too busy as the oldest to have a relationship but his brothers encourage him to ask her out because him having a GF does not mean he’s being selfish for doing something for himself that makes him happy.

3) Mona’s got an overprotective father who hates the idea of his daughter dating. He liked Raph better when he was just her friend, but when Raph started having feelings for Mona he became a threat.

Eventually Raph does asks Mona out and she says yes! They become boyfriend and girlfriend shortly after their first date.

Everyone feels a wave of relief and satisfaction when these two FINALLY get together! "IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!" But everyone soon realized that they are annoying as a lovey dovey couple, "Stop shoving your happiness in our faces!!"

Donnie’s love interest would be Kendra

Partners in crime, on again off again romance

Fake dating trope in the beginning with them both having plans to steal each others tech, “I’ll woo him/her and when they’re off his/her guard, I’ll robbed them!”

They actually start to fall in love with each other, but then the truth comes out and they “break up”

Now constantly bicker anytime they see each other, blaming the other for the betrayal and “break up”

Argues then proceeds to make out then argue again

They are the first couple to get together, but them being really officially together is a secret. They secretly date after their first "break up" and everyone doesn't find out about them until much later on, to which Donnie just mentions he's actually dating Kendra so nonchalantly while everyone just looks on at him with shock. This is after Leo x Yuichi and Raph x Mona became couples.

Mikey’s love interest would be Renet

Renet is a human orphan who grew up in the Yokai City and is practicing to become a witch, specifically a time witch!

They met when Mikey was in the Yokai city and came across Renet when she was practicing her magic spells (aka she fell on top of him when practicing a teleportation spell)

Everyone struggles to figure out if they are dating or just REALLY close.

Best friends, goofy dummies who eventually fall in love with one another slowly over time

Innocent young love. A playground crush.

Mikey hangs out with her a lot because he likes her. He doesn’t realize he likes her and no one tries to tell him cause they thought he knew he liked her

Act like a couple loooooong before they even become a couple.

“Are you two dating or just friends?” “Yes”

That tweet of that girl asking her bf if they are dating (they are living together and have a kid) cause they never confirmed they are boyfriend and girlfriend, so when she asked the bf he responds by fist pumping his chest, giving her a peace sign and saying "we're just Bros"

on-site as of doing the other prompt for 26th of risetober I’m just gonna share my redesign of renet tilly

Name: renet tilly (Mikey named her after a hip-hop artist he listened too)

gender: girl

sexuality: Omnisexual

species: kraang.

Occupation: junior soldier of the kraang

backstory: this redesign takes place in the rise universe, so when she was traveling to the earth dimension, half way through the portal had closed and she crashed her ship in the hidden city (portal dimension stuff idk). She lost her memory after the crash, only remembering how to work the strange device in her tentacle. Fast-forward a little bit, she dawns kraang armor and a headpiece similar to a nun, with two gauntlets that stem from the black bindings on her wrist. She fights in the battle nexus, feeling it’s the only place she belongs. She goes by the name of “timetress”.

walking on the streets were too dangerous, how would other people know who she is when she doesn’t either?

I’m thinking about making a comic/fic about how her and Mikey meet and….other stuff….

let’s go into the design of her costume!

So dimension X has these things called “muta-gems” these crystals give their armory various powers and allow them to take a more human form. Her gauntlets are powered by these crystals, when she hits a surface, there is a radius in which a “time zone” appears, making everything slow down and have her seem quicker to anyone watching within the zone.

The top half armor kind of flakes out from the chest plate part of the armor, while the bottom part is more manually put on.

(note: this design is pretty beta put I’m planing adding more details to tell the story so dw❤️)

the reason why I decided to redesign her was because when I saw the episode where renet was introduced I fucking hated her design. I have no issues with the character herself, she’s a sweetheart but omfg it brought out a pet peeve within me.

I usually group TMNT with sci-fi, and when they started bringing fucking time magic and travel, it just didn’t work. Time travel can be sci-fi, but the way they handled it was infuriating. Renet looks like she belongs in a fantasy setting, not a sci-fi one. If they were gonna introduce time-travel, then they should have went the cyberpunk route for her, since that’s what the TMNT version of New York looks like it would be heading to more cyberpunk shit. Her wand or cane or whatever tf doesn’t even match that well with her, it looks too rusty and uses warm and dark colors instead of the cooler and lighter colors renet uses.

WHY ARE THOSE FUCKING LITTLE BUBBLE WRAP THINGS ON HER TOP???? It looks so out of place, you would use that kind of stuff for aquatic character tbh. The only thing that relates to time is the headpiece she has, I really like it I think it’s creative but it also looks…tacky… like a knights helmet but not.

so for this redesign I decided to go for more spiky and sharper edges to signify danger and such. I’ll also add more stuff to the gauntlets and chest plate to be more related to time.

Favorite TMNT ship? Uhhhh...

I don't have any other ships I like as much as Timatello. I know some of my friends' OCs that are shipped with the turtles (in a not weird way dw) but they don't technically count.

I like Leosagi, but mostly 2003 Leosagi and certainly not 2012.

Aprinardo in TOTTMNT is alright, I like them being a couple because they actually aren't weird towards eachother and it's wholesome, but I only see them as platonic.

Leochi (Leo and Yuichi Usagi) is pretty good, I love the concept of Yuichi working at the Run Of The Mill Pizza, or a crossover between dimensions.

Shellshocked is sweet, but it could never happen, unfortunately.

Donnie and Atomic Lass is just funny as hell.

Apritello is something I don't really enjoy, especially in 2012, because of the way they wrote it. If written correctly, I can see this ship happening from a platonic standpoint.

Mikey and Renet - Again, platonic.

Raph and Mona Lisa - 2012 did it and it was rather undercooked and he never actually called her by her actual name, which was odd. Overall it's very sweet but I wish they had more time to develop it. Again, I'd love to make them a thing in my Rise fanon, but my current storyline is incomplete.

Raph and Alopex - Yeesh, the age gap that some of the artists said they had was.. Odd, to say the least. But their relationship definitely did grow to be pretty good until they parted ways. I'd be down to make Alopex best friends with Raph, but the romantic aspects don't vibe with me.

Donnie and Bigfoot - Get the fuck out.

Any of the turtles in general x April - Depends on the way the canon version wrote it. (Aprinardo is currently the only good one.)

Sunita x April - I like it, it's cute, but I feel like it's pretty platonic. I'll think about it more as time goes on, but yeah.

Sunita x Raph - I once saw a friend of mine ship these two together and honestly, I liked it! Very good art, very good opinions on it.

Those are all the ships I can remember off the top of my head. But none of these compare to Timatello.

What can I say about the Renet family? A normal, ordinary family. Parents love their daughter. Reinet is such a fidget, cheerful and the soul of the company in her father. Her mother is more calm.

Officially, all we know about April's family is that she has a mom and dad... and that's it. There is no more official information. April's dad didn't appear or flash in the series at all, and mom appeared once in the background.

I always imagined that April's dad was pretty busy and could sometimes go on business trips, and Mom also worked, but less. April's parents (at least mom) are calm about the fact that their daughter left an unusual and magical dog as a pet. Apparently April's mother accepts that her daughter likes oddities. She even wanted to introduce her daughter to Draxum in one of the episodes of season 2. This can be understood when Drax tells Raph and April, mistaking them for April's mom, that he does not want to meet her daughter. In short, everyone should have such moms👍

I made a piece of art.

The year is 2024 during the Krang invasion. Having settled most of the resources and remaining New Yorkers within the Hidden City, Leonardo takes on an important role in the refugee camps: preparing the next generation for the apocalypse. His brothers hope that he can train them and perhaps show them how to have a bit of fun even through the bitter times. Perhaps, the kids might teach him a thing or two as well.

I’m writing an apocalypse fic, and I made some OCs. Description under the break.

From Left to Right:

Dai: 8 years old. Orphaned. After a terrible accident in which his mother died, he was left with an awful scar and damaged vocal cords, making him mute. He finds his own ways to communicate, but he never really had the chance to learn how to write. He doesn’t try to communicate very much at all and prefers to observe. He is a very sweet kid. He is always carrying his Bunny stuffie, Patches, as it brings him a lot of comfort and helps calm him down. It is the last thing he got from his mother. He sticks very close to Leo. Was saved by Michelangelo.

Oliver: 5 years old. Has his father. Oliver has no recollection of anything before Krang. His innocence and curious nature causes him to ask a lot of questions. He is hyperactive and loves running around, and one of the only ways to calm him down is to hold him. He likes to trace different patterns on people, like the lines in the palm of hands or Leo’s stripes. He was put in the class as a way to drain his energy while his father takes the adult class with Cassandra.

Auryn: 10 year old. Has both parents. Auryn is a Yokai from a well known Yokai family in the hidden city. Her life hasn’t really changed since the invasion, although the presence of humans and the overcrowded parts of town are new. Her parents are against humans, but Auryns not so sure. She is one of the few Yokai in the class, and had to join when she discovered her favorite two time Battle nexus champ was going to be teaching. She has a huge celebrity crush on Leo that makes it hard for her to look him in the eyes. She has a shining intelligence and a special gift that may prove useful in these trying times.

Jace: Age unknown. Believed to be around 10-12 years old. Orphaned. Raph found him wandering around the surface about a year ago. He won’t tell anyone what happened before. Jace is a bright kid, despite his horrors, and has this dream of becoming a hero. He isn’t very good at learning though, and most of the lessons Leo teaches go straight over his head, so he finds way to make it fun and disrupt class. He loves pulling pranks, especially on Auryn, and Oliver is his partner in crime. He will not split with the scarf wrapped around his neck. He gets on Leo’s nerves the most despite all their similarities.

Nora: 14 years old. Has her mother. Nora has only ever had her and her mother. She remembers the most about life before the Krang and has a fighting spirit. She’s the oldest in the class and hates to be stuck with all the babies, believing she could handle much more. She mostly keeps to herself and can usually be found leaning against the wall giving judgemental looks. She’s tough and strong and ready to throw hands with anyone whose looking for a fight. Only one person has been able to loosen her from her shell.

Renet: 13 years old. Orphaned. She/them. Renet was orphaned king before the events of the Krang. Her mother (a Yokai) and her father (a human) were persecuted for their forbidden romance and it caused both to abandon them. Deemed too human for Yokai and too Yokai for humans they were left to fend for themselves until word of their hidden talent was heard by Big Mama herself. She’s been living with Big Mama ever since, not in the best living conditions but it was a home nonetheless. She has a natural talent for mystics, and an ability they keep all to themselves. She makes an effort to get along with everyone in the class, and is seen as kind, calm, and wise beyond her years.
