Evanna Shepard: "god is gracious". uhhhhhh eva is not the most religious person skdjfh maybe her parents were religious before they died. actually writing this down for her story 📝 i don't remember how i came up with her name tbh!

Audrey Shepard: "noble strength". this does fit! she is a war hero paragon after all. her name came from a friend i had in college who was like one of the sweetest people i've ever met. audrey is also very sweet

Orion Shepard: "heaven's light". honestly. i just picked a space name for my spacer boy. i didn't even know searching would turn up a meaning for naming your human child sdfkjhdsfjk his name came from a story someone told me of how their brother goes by ryan but his name is actually orion

Asteria Tabris: "star" or "starry one". yes there are multiple star-themed names on here bc i love stars

Ruby Hawke: honestly i now have a list of flower names and gemstone names that i think would be cool to name my characters and this was the first one

Amaris Lavellan: "promised by god". idk howwwww i got so many religious names for my least religious characters ksdjfhs not that Amaris doesn't believe in elven gods but this seems like it would equate more to The Maker. maybe it's because she's the herald. i believe i got her name from a name website

Sterling Lavellan: "little star". aw shit here we go again w star names. honestly when i named him i thought "amaris" was also a star name and they're twins so i thought it made sense. guess not tho sdkjfhs

Keala Trevelyan: "the path". uhhh yes he is on.. the path of the inquisitor. i guess. i have nooo memory of where his name came from

garrett hawke. the champion of kirkwall. his morals for that day are decided by him blindly throwing a dart. most people want to rearrange his face but are too scared to do it. doesn't drop his dry, sarcastic sense of humor for anybody. you might hate him but do you hate this stew he just made?

davhalla lavellan. herald of andraste, inquisitor first-thaw, a kirkwall comte, and connoisseur of tiny, frilly cakes. easy to start up a conversation with, but is a total pushover. very proud of his dalish heritage. has two nugs that he cares for with the help of leliana.

mass effect —

rafael shepard. colonist, war hero, paragon, the longest reigning table tennis champion in normandy history. remarkably level-headed and works best under pressure. a bit too blunt for his own good.

nicole ryder. action archaeologist. one half of the ryder twins. lover of books, period dramas, and the color purple. bites into ice cream with her two front teeth just to watch people flinch.

Rian: My favorite OC would be Crowlyn Nissad Coronis, from my Fate's Crystal Majesty story that can be found over at @ryan-shepard-writes! He's a very gay mage that dresses like David Bowie's Goblin King. I'm very proud of him.

🐘 How do you feel about writing techniques like metaphors, alliteration etc? Do you use any?

Rian: I love them. Different little tools like metaphors, allegories, alliteration... They're just fun to play with! Metaphors are especially fun because you can be as subtle or as obvious as you want. Actually, recently started watching Darling In The Franxx with Toshinori and a friend, and pointing out all the little metaphors and innuendos has been a riot.

Rian: AO3! I used both Quizilla and FFN way back in the day, but now I solely publish on AO3.

Excerpt:

“Major Coats!”

There’s a note of shock and panic in Grange’s voice that yanks Coats from his thoughts and has him lurching to his feet. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches the time on his omni-tool again. 13:58. “What is it, lieutenant?”

Grange doesn’t answer, simply points through the virtual windows ahead of them with one hand while struggling to keep the shuttle airborne with the other.

Coats blinks once, then a second time, his brain frantically deciphering what he’s seeing. It’s as if the sky ripped open and started to fall in on itself. Ships… creatures… things descending from the skies above, varying shapes and sizes, more and more with each passing second. But one thing about it all leaves Coats absolutely certain; they match Shepard’s description of the Reapers.

“Bloody fucking hell! Get us on the ground, Grange!” Coats shouts as he drops into the empty co-pilot seat and straps in. “Now!”

“Where, sir?”

“ANYwhere you can!”

“Aye, sir!”...
