Sharks have an unnecessarily bad rap.

TW (I guess) : rant / vent

Why are people so scared of sharks? I mean I get that they looks scary, the whole ocean itself is scary, so are many of the creatures in it. But a shark wouldn't purposely eat a human. Here are some reasons why:

1. When a shark attack happens it's just because they mistake us for what they actually eat and don't think we taste good.

2. We don't have enough blubber / fat to give them any nutrition.

3. Alike spiders; they are more scared of us than we are of them. Ok they might not actually be scared but you're more likely to be killed / eaten by an orca (which are dolphins) than a shark. Sharks kill on average around 10 people a year (I don't remember where I got that info but someone else said 5) and we kill millions of sharks a year for soup and (I think) souvenirs like teeth for necklaces or jaws for mounts on walls.

I wish people were able to see through my eyes and realise that sharks can actually be really nice creatures, I once saw a video of a shark reuniting with a friend (who was a scuba diver) after like 2 years or so because of covid-19. You can train them to hit a button for food. Why can't people see that sharks are harmless... To humans... Not so much to seals. Hopefully after reading this you have a different view on sharks and see that they're not so bad. I won't remove comments (other than ones that obviously need to be) but if you still have reasons to hate sharks I will likely debate with you to try and change your perspective.
