ngl, the timing of bringing Deanna home couldn't've been more perfect. this little fuzzball has been saving me. which is not to say that Mister hasn't also been saving me. but it's nice to have a second opinion.

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Think your family is close-knit? Try living with a family of common degus! These small rodents live in groups of 2-12, typically with 1-2 dominant males and 2-5 breeding females. The adults construct highly complex burrows together by forming digging chains, and unrelated females will often nest together and nurse each other's young. Even on the surface, the family sticks together to forage and dust-bathe.

See on Scoop.it - Variétés entomologiques

sketched the lefthand side late last night while i was sleepy and buzzed after i got home from a first date that i think (hope) went well. 😈
righthand side... welp. i've been having a lot of Feelings™️.... tl;dr is i have to surrender my degus to a shelter (don't come at me, it's for legit legit fucked up life-situation reasons that are neither my fault nor under my control but i still hate myself and blame myself for it) and filling out the paperwork is... a little rough, to say the least. ughhhhhhhfhhfghghhhh
i just... don't want to let go of my babygirl Deanna and as someone with HELLAAAA abandonment issues myself (HELLO BORDERLINE), i am reallyyyyy struggling with being the abandoner.
ANYHOW UHHH...!! these pencils are a dream to sketch with. in case you can't tell, they're double-pointed, half-red, half-black.

Hi there! This is a common degu (Octodon degus)! They’re South American rodents and related to animals like guinea pigs, capybaras and chinchillas, between others. I personally think they look a lot like their chinchilla cousins.
Degus were initially kept by humans for animal research purposes like rats and mice, but unlike most small rodents usually kept as pets, degus are fully diurnal and have very long lifespans, being able to live up to 13 years! This made them popular as pets in recent years. This cute little guy is a pet, I assume, due to the white patches in their coat. Wild degus are mostly brown:
