Heart of Darkness
After finishing off a slew of quick games before my trip overseas, I decided that as I traipsed around South Korea and Japan, it would be good to tackle another Square Enix title. No, it was not Final Fantasy XVI, although I'm sure bleachpanda would have approved. Alas, I didn't have the game on a portable handheld and I wasn't planning on packing my PlayStation 5 into my luggage.
No, I brought something much smaller.
This was a game akin to Octopath Traveler. Except, instead of having playable characters explore the one world and stumbling upon their fellow travellers, this title would see each and every protagonist play out their own self-contained stories of varying lengths across space and time. And all of them would be tenuously linked by a seed of hatred fuelling all the villains they would end-up taking down by the end.
More importantly, the game in question was also a remake. The original had come out aeons ago and had never been translated into English. But with the resurgence in recent years of pixellated art-styles and the success of the 2D-HD hybrid in titles such as Triangle Strategy and Bravely Default, Live a Live was gifted a second chance to appeal to the hearts of gamers worldwide.
Now, when this game first released in 2022, I have to admit, I was a little sceptical about picking it up. There hadn't been much in the way of fanfare for it and I already had quite a few other games on my plate to tackle. COVID-19 might have put a damper on many blockbuster triple-AAA titles but I'd enjoyed a glut of smaller niche titles.
As such, it was hard to try and squeeze Live a Live into my very packed schedule.
And so, it is with a heavy heart for me to admit that I didn't pick up this game until quite a while later. But pick it up I did. And knowing I'd need something to help me unwind during my trip, I chose it to be the game I played.
After all, it had sold itself as having many different stories that could be played independently of each other. So, in my mind, it would be the perfect pick-up and play game.
What I hadn't anticipated was that the first two chapters I'd pick end up being two of the longest: The Near Future and Prehistoric. I was also at a loss to know which order to play the chapters in but settled in for the first option in the rotation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Near Future stars Akira. After his father passes away, Akira is whisked away to live in an orphanage with his sister. There, he whiles away the time by helping out his friend, Matsu, at a taiyaki stall and lounging on benches in the city park. After a few altercations with the local gang, he stumbles upon a conspiracy where humans are liquified to bring back a bird God, Odeo. The story ends with Akira duking it out against the revived God in the Steel Titan mech, piloted through Akira's psychic powers.
Prehistoric, on the other hand, has Pogo stumbling upon cavewoman Beru, who had fled her own tribe after nearly being sacrificed. Unfortunately, her tribe manages to track her down. Pogo, with the help of his gorilla friend Gori rescue her, bringing down the Tyrannosaurus Rex Beru would have been sacrificed to. In so doing, Pogo wins the respect of his tribe and that of Beru's.
But the story that stood out to me the most was the Far Future one, starring the iconic Cube, a small round robot, who was created by the engineer Kato to assist around the spaceship. The story plays out like a horror story with elements of Alien and System Shock. It isn't long before Cube is forced to face off against the rogue primary artificial intelligence, OD-10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, of course, there are the stories of Sundown Kid, Oboromaru, the Earthen Heart Master and Masaru. Completing all seven of the stories unlocks an eighth chapter: The Middles Ages.
In the Middles Ages, players step into the shoes of Oersted. A knight of the Kingdom of Lucrece, he shows off his prowess at a tourney held by the King. Besting the sorcerer Streibough, Oersted is rewarded the right to marry the king's daughter. That night, as he celebrates his victory, the princess is kidnapped by the Lord of Dark. Oersted sets off on his journey to slay the Lord of Dark at Archon's Roost.
The rescue, however, does not go as planned and Streibough dies. Hasshe, the previous hero who had slain the first Lord of Dark, also falls. With a heavy heart, Oersted returns to Lucrece to report to the king.
It is later revealed, however, that Streibough is alive. Jealous of Oersted, Streibough orchestrates a plot to besmirch Oersted's good name and paint him as the villain. After accidentally killing Lucrece's king, due to an illusion, Oersted finds himself alone and without allies, the citizens of Lucrece quick to denounce him as a new Lord of Dark. Upon Oersted's return to the Archon's Roost, Oersted is forced to confront the traitorous sorcerer. Streibough slain, the princess emerges. But instead of being overjoyed, the princess expresses anger toward Oersted and commits suicide.
Overcome with hatred and despair, Oersted steps into the role of the Lord of Dark, christening himself a new name: Odio and extending his tentacles across time and space. These are, of course, the enemies the rest of the characters fought in their individual stories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the end of this eighth chapter, a ninth one opens up: The Dominion of Hate. Here, Odio transports the heroes of the previous chapters to the Kingdom of Lucrece, questioning the reasons why they fight and engaging in battle with them.
Much of the messaging in these last few moments still feel quite relevant to the current situation of our world. Especially as wars rage and people treat each other with disdain, drawing lines in the sand and forgetting that not everything in the world is so black and white. And as more and more people struggle with mental health, giving into the darkness of their hearts as they lash out at others through the anonymity of the internet, I'm reminded once again that most of our lives are more than a few comments or a status update on social media.
And yet, many have now squeezed themselves and their whole personality into 60 second video clips or 240 characters.
The internet may love their 'morally grey' love interests but somehow we've also forgotten there is more that motivates an individual than just one post they might have put up ten years ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, it all comes down to what we make of our situations and how we react. Far too often, we rush ahead, blinding assuming people are out to get us without stopping to think things through. And in our bid to remain relevant, we fail to think about the human on the other end of the text chain and their feelings and their lives.
Yes, you may be the 'main character' of your story. But so are others. They aren't just bit characters in your play.
And maybe that's something we need to remind ourselves each day when we take to sending hate through the internet.
In this day and age, I'd hate to fight what sort of Lord of Dark might come out from all the vitriol dwelling inside. Joseph Conrad might have depicted a man's slow descent into evil by venturing deep into a jungle but we are seeing a modern day descent into savagery play out right before our very eyes.
I didn't mean to end everything on a downer though.
From a gameplay perspective, Live a Live keeps it simple with its turn-based combat a la Chrono Trigger and other role-playing games of yesteryear. What was intriguing to me, though, was the grid-like combat and the ability for players to position their characters just-so to deal critical damage or to target more enemies through area-of-effect attacks.
While this necessitated some form of strategy, I also found it easy, once sufficiently levelled, to just hit the final boss with all my strongest attacks without much thought on how long they would take to charge.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with Live a Live and somewhat regret not picking it up earlier. Should Square Enix ever release another experimental title, I think I'd be quite intrigued to see where it might lead.

battle of the battle themes
I've been following these poll tourneys very closely and got an idea for one of my own! I love video game OST's and thought it'd be fun to make one about that, especially since music has been a less explored venue than characters.
Qualifications:
Must be from a video game
Must coincide with some kind of battle with the video game's enemies. Something that hypes you up and makes you feel unstoppable!
General battle themes or boss fight themes welcome
Some examples I had in mind: With Twilight of the Gods from Shadows of Valentia, God Shattering Star from Fire Emblem Three Houses, Song of the Ancients (Fate) from Nier Replicant/Gestalt
Y'all can submit those or whatever you want! In fact I'm excited to find new OST's to listen to!
Rules:
I won't tolerate any rudeness or toxicity. Any offenders will be blocked.
No botting/cheating either, please. Let's just have a fun time here.
No video games that are very NSFW in nature please!
You can only submit your song once but you are free to send in multiple. Basically, no flooding with a repeat confession.
Propaganda is welcome, especially during the submission phase if you want a song submitted- though for the most part the music will be speaking for itself I think!
This is something very new for me and I don't rlly know much about tournament seeding or w/e so it'll probably be randomized. Please be patient with me!
Submissions have been closed early so I can include more people- sorry about that!

Battle of the Ships
Round 1 Part 2 Poll 7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description for the Thousand Sunny : The second ship that the strawhats sail
Propaganda for the Thousand Sunny : Franky the master shipwright dreamed of building the ultimate ship for years and this was it.
Description for the Grand Terry : Customizable ship
Propaganda for the Grand Terry : In Octopath Traveler 2 you are able to purchase a ship from Terry, a young woman who learned the art of ship construction from a renowned master of the craft. Unfortunately she can’t see the worth in her own work, since every customer has just been disappointed that they were just speaking to his student and that the actual master has died, not trusting Terry to be able to build good ships.
In comes Partitio, and merchant and the absolute nicest person on this earth. He convinces Terry to sell him the ship she was currently building and in which she already lost all hope. After she agreed to finish the ship and leave it to Partitio, and after Partitio even names the ship after her, she found new motivation to keep building ships and to become just as good if not better than her master.
Note : thanks a lot for letting me know about the customizing thing, GT's submitter. Lots of you have been very enthusiastic and informative in your submissions for this tourney, thank you all for that

lmao winning a swordfighting tourney by default sounds about right for my luck.
like in my head i post about it like 'haha im gonna enter this itll be just like octopath traveler' and i show up dressed like olberic with my foam minecraft sword and the spirit of the unbending blade overtakes me and i sweep house somehow
anyway are they gonna cover utilities or am i on my own?? they always get you with the tax stuff. like that time oprah gave away all those cars

Yugioh S2 Ep 43: Things Get a Lot Less Vague, But it’s Still Pretty Vague
I’m taking full advantage of the laziest time of the year and I’m watching even more Yugioh. I even gave myself a buffer. Sort of. I kinda lost a day playing Octopath Traveler and I don’t even remember that happening.
Now this episode doesn’t have anyone getting struck by lightning, but if that happened, it would have fit right in. A lot happened in this episode. So, to start off, Mai decided to play one of the three cards we were given explicit instructions to never ever play and it has immediately screwed her over via orb.
Tumblr media
Everyone else watching the orb has become completely enamored by it. Especially Kaiba, who is pretty positive he can turn this sphere into a dragon. I don’t know why anyone would ever come to this conclusion, but welcome to Yugioh, it’s well into S2 and I’m just still jaw agape and saying “HOW?” at my screen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like y’all I don’t know how to play this game, which should be hella apparent from reading any of my posts, but like there is one thing that everyone knows--even I knew--about Yugioh the game. Let me just, once sec
Tumblr media
Ah, there we go.
Tumblr media
Like sometimes it shows that your game is originally in a language that doesn’t require spaces between words. And like this is coming from me. You know how verbose I am, I freakin love words. But maybe that’s too many words for a card.
(read more under the cut)
And while this is pretty much the worlds most BS card already, what’s even better is that none of this jargon appeared until after Mai played the card. Like basically the card pretends to be completely normal and then is like “Boom, gotcha. I’ll just be a cool Ikea orb lamp instead!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, while everyone is scrambling around trying to fathom what to do about this huge ass fake sun blinding everyone down in Domino, Marik decides to deposit some more bizarre lore.
Tumblr media
I kind of assumed Yugi and Kaiba were born with the correct soul formula to become the reincarnation of these people from 3000 B.C.E. without any actual blood relations but apparently, somehow, you got people from Ancient Egypt migrating to Ancient Japan. Sure, I mean if you did enough trading routes it could happen. It just seems like it would be a difficult transition?
And we could get real head canon and talk about their parentage since there’s a lot we don’t know. Mokuba and Kaiba could have different fathers, since they are quite different looking, which may be how Mokuba is exempt from all this lore while it still applies to Seto (Cuz Mokuba has been staring at that card for like quite a while and he cannot read it). But like, I don’t know if the show will even bother to cover that.
I don’t know if we’ll find out when in their bloodlines Kaiba and Yugi’s Egyptian cursed lines arrived in Japan. Was this during like the Edo period? Was this to set up a really bizarre Shogun Yugioh spinoff?
Wait, is that a thing? I don’t actually know, Yugioh seems to have like 8 spinoffs that all look a lot of the same to me. It may just be 1 spinoff that Netflix keeps changing the preview image of to trick me into thinking there’s 8 of them.
Or, did Kaiba have a relative that showed up in the 80′s and had a crazy weekend and a one night stand? Would Kaiba even know who his real Dad is?
Whatever, I’m sure there’s plenty of fanfic made over the last 20 years to cover this so I don’t have to. Moving on.
Tumblr media
And then this kid’s show decided to tie up Mai to a wall or something? Man, Marik and chaining people up, this is the fourth person he’s chained up today! At least this time she doesn’t have a box over her head.
Still pretty kinky though.
Tumblr media
Yo did Mokuba just...casually walk out of Marik’s Shadow Realm just now?
Again, do they cancel the game at this point because the equipment is...clearly malfunctioning? Like, this is the part that Kaiba is supposed to have full control of because he made all the equipment they’re using and he’s just...glossing over this? Like, this is the one thing that Kaiba would be like “OK wait, wait, we can’t ship it like this, my company is actually ruined if the game can do this, one sec, cancel everything.”
Nah. They just kinda watch.
And now, Marik decides to say the bird chant so we can hear what was actually written on the card and it was...a...
...it was the definition of what a poem is all right...
Tumblr media
This is the lyrics to the Ra poem, just so you can see how bad it is. My search engine history will never be the same, but I just want y’all to glory on how kid’s show this poem is, compared to everything else going on in this kid’s show at this moment.
"Great beast of the sky, please hear my cry./
Transform thyself from orb of light and bring me victory in this fight/
Envelop the desert with your glow and cast your rage upon my foe./
Unlock your powers deep within so that together we may win./
Appear in this Shadow Game as I call your name,/
Winged Dragon of Ra"
Bravo, writers. Bravo. This corny as hell poem with its very awkward meter was voiced over alllllll the other nuts stuff going on in this show and guys, it’s a juxtaposition.
Now at this point, Kaiba has his poem he needs to make the card works--so he no longer needs to translate it--so he can just cancel. He’s got everything he wants now. Time to just cancel. Throw the cursed boy in whatever prison you got on this ship. In fact, just toss him off the ship entirely. You no longer need him. He doesn’t even have the card anymore. Mai has it.
I honestly think Kaiba just spaced the hell out at this point.
Also then Marik follows it up by saying this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joey gets wind that this is pretty bad and we’re going to get a very dead Mai--I mean Joey was the one who just recently got struck by lightning so it’d make sense that he’d be the one to say "I know for a real true fact none of you are going to do a damn thing about this unless I do this myself.” So he runs directly over to Kaiba but then I think the show decided to edit out him talking to Kaiba because it just jump cuts to Joey talking to Roland instead.
Tumblr media
Like it really felt like Joey went the long way around to get on this platform but I dunno, maybe he tried to punch Kaiba in the Japanese version and that’s why they edited it out? I dunno.
Tumblr media
Also, how many times will Joey get DQ’d before he actually gets DQ’d? Will anyone ever in fact get DQ’d in this entire tourney?
As Ra starts warming up his engines to start spewing fire all over the field, Joey decides to take a moment to try and talk to Mai. To tell her that yes, he did have a dream about her, but didn’t want to tell her earlier, because no teenage boy in their right mind would tell an adult woman that they had a dream about them during a near-death experience.
Which honestly most of it was lost on the fact that Mai can only hear him as a sort of ghostly spooky echo.
Tumblr media
So then, through the power of...the show only calls if friendship, but it’s very vague, y’all...they break the curse that Marik put on Mai, and she remembers Joey. Also because Joey is touching her face. Like literally touching her. This would have been way spookier if she could not see him at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Ra is getting ready to fry these two up and I thought “wow, we’re gonna get two bodies at the end of this episode. What a treat!” but there’s a twist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What? Lol what?
Within like 3 milliseconds, Yugi goes “dammit what are these assholes doing?” and leaps up to the platform and then takes yet another direct fireball hit in order to save Joey Wheeler. No one even asked Yugi to do this--he’s not even competing in this game, but he certainly got up there and took it.
This episode must have been a right up shipping frenzy when y’all were 12.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marik is so pleased that he got to eff up Yugi more in this duel than the one that he actually tried to kill Yugi Muto in. If I remember correctly he did mention that this all was very convenient--I mean he got 3 in one go and he wasn’t even trying. So, Because Yugi is passed out and because Kaiba will never actually step in and stop anyone in this show unless Mokuba orders him to, Marik walks straight up to Joey and Mai and makes some more nonsense right in front of everyone on this show.
This is right in front of most of the entire cast.
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s the color scheme but I got strong Stinky Cheese Man vibes from this magic effect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought of pulling more caps from this point but there was waaaay too much shirtless Yugi in it. In my mind, all cartoon characters, when they take their shirt off, have another shirt on underneath. And if they take off that shirt, it’s yet another shirt. It’s shirts and boots leggings on all the way down to infinity like a russian nesting doll, and the image of shirtless Yugi really puts a kibosh to my world view and I didn’t like it.
No kinkshame, of course, if that’s your thing, well, you got a 18x18 pixel shirtless Yugi right there for you to enjoy. Enjoy.
Now that Mai has been trapped here in this hourglass resort, she will lose her memories of her friends for the rest of time, obsessively watching everyone else's vacations that are full of friends having way more fun than she is having.
This is just Instagram basically. Y’all, this is just Instagram.
And some of y’alls Instagram has shirtless Yugis in it, I just know it.
And not to get too real but like, last episode we went through how Marik basically gave Mai depression--and it says a lot that his way of doing this was illustrated in a show written like 20 years ago in a lot of the same way social media works today. Just throwing that out there.
Overall, I feel like the theme of the Mai ark is “Marik just sped up what they were already doing and it was super effective.” Mai trapped herself in her own false and negative insecurities. Kaiba failed to moderate anything. Joey waited way too late to say the right thing. Yugi sacrificed himself again to such a degree that he couldn’t save Mai later when Marik was just strutting around cursing people willy nilly.
And I’m not going to lie, Marik’s cargo pants/cape strut was hilarious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was probably supposed to be menacing, but this long cut of this ridiculous cast just watching this weird boy go was great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up until now Seto has been a very patient impatient person, but now it’s finally his duel, and he’s so excited to duel Ishizu--but y’all it’s just Seto up against a phsycic again. I imagine it’s gonna go real great.
Tumblr media
Other than that one guy in town, will this boy ever duel a normal person?
Also...been debating on whether Mai is dead or alive, and her soul still seems attached to her body--like she’s still salvageable? So I’ll say alive for now. Seems more like a dream than like she literally got transported elsewhere.
Dude. It is S2 and I just realized that Mai Valentine is a pun.
Damn.
If you just got here, this is the end of S2 and things are rapidly losing their mind. Click here if you want to read from ep 1

Olberic Boss Weaknesses and Strategies - Octopath Traveler
Square Enix's latest RPG release Octopath Traveler offers a lot in the way of party customization for a reason — players will need every bit of help they can get with the game's numerous boss battles. Taking down the foes found at the end of each character chapter is no small task, especially for parties that may be under-leveled. Fortunately, we've got some basic tips regarding their individual strengths and weaknesses that can help players plan out their strategies. Keep reading to learn more about all of the Olberic chapter bosses in Octopath Traveler.
Note: we've done our best to keep these guides spoiler-free. However, some details regarding boss names and situational encounters may spoil some story elements. Reader discretion is advised.
Olberic Chapter One Boss Weaknesses and Strategy
Boss Name: Gaston Weaknesses: Spears, Daggers, Staves, Ice, Lightning Shield Rating: 4, 6, or 7, depending on party HP: 4,252, or 5,594 against complete parties
Enemy Name: Brigand Weaknesses: Swords, Axes, Fire, Wind, Dark Shield Rating: 2 HP: 600-800
If Olberic was chosen as the primary character at the start of Octopath Traveler, by the time he reaches the first chapter boss Gaston, he won't have many offensive or defensive options. Gaston himself is weak against spears, and the Brigands he spawns are weak against swords, meaning Thousand Spears should be enough to break Gaston's defense, while two Level Slash skills can take out both of the Brigands' defenses.
Taking out the two Brigands should be a first priority — simple sword hits can break their shields, and players only need to do around 600-700 damage to take each of them out. Once they're out of the way, focus on the big guy — he has about 4,200 HP if players don't have a full party, and just about 5,600 if they do. His attacks do basic physical damage, and even an under-leveled party with a few Healing Grapes should have no trouble taking them out.
Olberic Chapter Two Boss Weaknesses and Strategies
Surprise! In Olberic's second chapter, Olberic and the party have to face off against a series of individual boss battles as part of joining the roster of and eventually conquering the tourney being held in Victors Hollow.
Boss Name: Prideful Warrior Weaknesses: Swords, ?, ?, ? Shield Rating: 4 HP: 1,165 - 5,000
This little guy is hanging out near the entrance to Victor's Hollow. Like the Contemptuous Warrior that follows, he's basically a pushover — hit him with basic sword attacks to break his defenses, then lay in with Olberic's most powerful attacks boosted as much as possible. He'll go down in no time.
Boss Name: Contemptuous Warrior Weaknesses: Spears, ?, ?, ? Shield Rating: 4 HP: 1,000 - 6,000
This would-be fighter can be found on the western end of Victor's Hollow. He's really not much of a fighter, though he isn't specifically weak to swords. Simply bring his defenses down and use boost points on Olberic's most powerful skill to take him out of the running.
Boss Name: Victorino, the Buccaneer's Bane Weaknesses: Swords, Daggers, Wind, Dark Shield Rating: 5 HP: 12,718
Enemy Name: Victorino's Retainer Weaknesses: Swords, Daggers, Lightning, Dark Shield Rating: 2 HP: 4,133
After besting the two wannabe champions, Olberic will eventually be able to secure his place in the tourney by defeating Victorino, the Buccaneer's Bane, in a public brawl. This fight is substantially more difficult than previous bouts, which is why the game allows all four party members to enter into the fray.
As usual, start by taking out the main boss' two lackeys: they have just over 4,100 HP and they're weak to conventional weapons. Once they're out of the way, focus on hitting Victorino: break his defenses wtih swords or daggers, then have spellcasters use either wind or dark-based spells to deal heavy elemental damage.
Boss Name: Joshua Frostblade Weaknesses: Axes, Staves, Fire, Light Shield Rating: 6 HP: 18,184
Enemy Name: Dapper Duelist Weaknesses: Daggers, Bows, Fire, Wind Shield Rating: 4 HP: 5,539
Like with many later-level bosses in Octopath Traveler, Joshua Frostblade will have some of his weaknesses blocked by his companions. Fortunately, opening up those weaknesses to attack simply involves taking out the smaller foes first, which is the usual strategy.
Since the Dapper Duelists are weak to bows, a Hunter using Arrowstorm is a great way to break their defenses quickly. After that, have a spellcaster use a fire-based skill to deal elemental damage and begin to weaken Joshua's own shield rating. With time, the party will take out the duelists, leaving Joshuo open to easy attack — just be on the lookout for his Unrequited Etude skill, which deals a moderate amount of physical damage to the entire party at once.
Boss Name: Archibold the Crusher Weaknesses: Daggers, Bows, Ice, Dark Shield Rating: 7 HP: 20,182
Enemy Name: Disguised Duelist Weaknesses: Axes, Staves, Dark, Light Shield Rating: 5 HP: 6,061
Archibold raises the challenge quite a bit thanks to his ability to charge up for powerful attacks like Champion's Cleave, which deals physical damage and reduces the defense of all party members. Coupled with his shield rating of seven, stopping these attacks is something of a chore. However, his two Disguised Duelist companions are relatively weak, and even Clerics will be able to break their defenses easily using spells like Luminescence.
Keep to the same rhythm — take out the two smaller enemies to open up Archibold's locked weaknesses, then lay into him with everything the party has. After the reigning champion admits defeat, only the battle against Gustav will remain.
Boss Name: Gustav, the Black Knight Weaknesses: Spears, Axes, Bows, Fire, Dark Shield Rating: 8 HP: 39,549
Enemy Name: Shield Wielder Weaknesses: Swords, Staves, Ice, Wind Shield Rating: 5 HP: 7,910
At the start of the fight, Gustav will block all of his specific weaknesses, once again forcing the party to first deal with his weaker associates. Focus attacks on both Shield Wielders — they're weak against swords, meaning Level Slash is a great way to hit them both at once while other party members use wind or ice attacks to break their defenses.
When they're out of the way, start laying into Gustav, being careful of his powerful physical attacks, which can often hit single characters several times at once. He has far more HP than previous tourney contenders, so taking him down will be a matter of patience.
The Hunter's Rain of Arrows skill will be a great way to knock four or so points off of Gustav's shield rating in a given turn, and the other party members can simply hit him with weapons he's weak against to build up their boost points. Once his defenses are broken, boost skills like Cross Slash or True Strike to deal the most damage possible. After a few rinses and repetitions, he'll eventually fall, and Olberic's second chapter will conclude.
