it Happened Again

i swear at this point i need to just make a post explaining why sign language for deep sea animals just Doesn't Work in their given environment. because i keep seeing people trying to do that for inclusivity and it feels worse than just realizing that its probably not the best place for a spec evo species to focus exclusively on that.

or actually maybe i just need to make a post ranting about why the mermaids from Into The Drowning Deep are so bad and made no goddamn sense despite trying so hard to be hard spec evo

#all the care guide says is 'biomass'#tl;dr its because for sign language to work you have to either see it or feel it #which is a problem. when there is no light and seeing anything at all is Hard.#and when you are free-floating animals in a place that extends off forever in all directions #ofc no one goes with the touch option either despite it being the more reasonable one #of two not very great options #just. idk. i dont think its ableist to say that ''this is one situation where this wouldnt make sense for an entire species''#also no bioluminescence is also not the silver bullet youre looking for either #because it is NOT a very powerful light thats produced #and thus can be easily missed from too far away #and because i see. people. trying to use that bioluminescence to then make the sign language visible.#not just using the light they have already #plus its metabolically expensive to produce and you wouldnt want to over-use it

Wait, does the cheating thing on the bond always works? bcs that would be kinda freaky for R!Dipper like imagine you get pinned down by someone in the corner of a br or smthng and then said person kissed you and proceeded to explode into red mist and you literally have no idea what happened.

Also, would the constellation mark be a "cursed" Mark over the years, like you would give birth to a baby and the doctor says "😟 I am so sorry ma'am,,, I'm afraid your baby has the Cipher Companion mark. ( could also be something equally as science-y like Ursa Major, Constellation Calamation, etc idk)" And you just burst into tears.

Would that mean that dipper would get into a special program(demon wrangling program or smthng, demonologist? Maybe)? Or would the parents hide it away hoping that Bill would never take their child away?

kenjaku and shoko are the best jjk blorbos to have with you during your period btw . (bear with me for a second the great bloodletting just began and i’m in desperate need of comfort) like. they’re the Best. shoko is self-explanatory but i’m also convinced kenny knows your cycle by heart (they’re scarily observant + they’ve literally Been a woman before) and can tell you exactly how bad it’s going to be several days before. kenny is the period tracker blorbo. shoko is just very competent and sweet and really good at making the pain go away. i’ll give points to choso too because he would be intensely caring and protective + might be able to use blood manipulation to lighten your flow…

then we have suguru who’s always the best option but he doesn’t let you eat sweets because they’ll make your cramps worse so who needs him 🙏🙏

What???#YOU JUST INTERVIEWED ME #there's one of them that i'm hoping for bc it has the lovely 8-5 hours. not per shift. just being open #and it's a tourist trap #that has good health benefits and gets me into other tourist traps around town For Free +3 guests max #like hello. dad can visit. bring both sisters. we're going touristing #and sea world at 50% off which is pretty damn cool #i'm gonna start harassing them daily on the phone as of wednesday #if that gas station food prep job doesn't get back #which pays a touch more with a 10% discount on GAS #BUT they're the ones who sent that weird email this morning saying i didn't make it to the interview stage which um #why? what? you talked to me twice?#I'm QUALIFIED? It's the same damn job i previously had but for a gas station. i mean come on #ugh. my lowest quality options are part time at a busier and more annoying tourist trap #or *sighs* dominos.#at least dominos gets good tips tho #everyday for like. the last week has been interviews #except yesterday which tbh i slept most of it #i need a fuckin job dude. come on #i have also created a list of managers i would rather be interviewed by #at the bottom of the list is intimidating older woman. next is slightly younger than that woman who thinks i don't look local enough #somewhere in the middle is that really chill old lady who gave me advice about chafing in the heat. great lady #and top is black man in his 20s. very chill. easy to talk to. i've been interviewed by two and the first one was younger than me #and i intimidated him. bc i knew more about interviewing laws than he did. whoops. missed out on the job but he was nice #today's though? KNEW HIS SHIT. Perfect manager. I'd want to work for him. Chill. easy to talk to and understood the laws well #...just realized the bar is that low. wow.#sadly he's the dominos guy and that job is second to last on my preferred list #i have most definitely noticed that the person interviewing you sets the daily tone for the job

I JINXED MYSELF I opened a book I wanted to read and then my third course site got published and there's an optional book to read THERE AS WELL THAT SOUNDS SUPER INTERESTING THAT WOULD PROBABLY GO REALLY WELL IN TANDEM WITH MY CURRENT BOOK, FUCK

#WHY DO I HAVE A JOBBBBB MY JOB SHOULD BE TO READ FASCINATING BOOKS ABOUT ART CULTURE AND OWNERSHIP #FUCK #anyway I am gonna read it lmao #it's a book on the history of copyright :3 #my courses this quarter SLAP ngl #honestly I have a great time in school cuz I literally only take courses that sound fascinating but like.#also I do think most things sound fascinating so that is in my favor here #I do think my two courses that aren't programming are gonna go VERY well in tandem anyway so #I do not do all of the optional readings #but I always do the optional book reading cuz usually it's like 'here's a much larger subject overview' which I find very helpful #and if it's an open source book and I can just download it and hold onto it for later? even better #(this one is available on jstor. privilege and property ed. by deazley et al. like if you want it)

Ray's After Ending is so funny because for a good chunk of it, most of the RFA members are knocked out by V's sleeping gas (Saeran is immune, Saeyoung isn't present bc he was kidnapped by his agency under his father's orders and MC wakes up in like an hour) but the game has a call feature where you can call the characters and it would be a waste if you couldn't use it bc the characters were unavailable so instead they have other people pick up the call (Jumin's driver picks up Jumin's phone, Jumin's father picks up Zen's phone, Yoosung's friends and mom pick up Yoosung's phone and Jaehee's coworkers pick up Jaehee's phone) and we do get to learn about the characters from outsider's point of view but it's so funny to me that these people are visiting their loved ones and suddenly the phone rings and they decide to just. answer it. and start talking to this stranger they've never met

#prince's talk tag #maybe its not actually weird people just pick up their loved one's phone call for them but i personally wouldn't #i cant stop thinking about how its Jumin's father that uses Zen's phone like Chief Han what were you doing in Zen's room??#i know they needed to assign somw character to Zen and he's not on speaking terms with his family #but I would of thought Chief Han would go to Jumin and the driver could go to Zen #does this mean something? am i thinking too hard about this?#also rip yoosung his friends and mom lowkey kinda dragging him in their call with you #and with the friends since one of them is a girl one of the options is like 'A girl?!?! are you dating??' and shes like 'no lolol'#'he's nice but i dont see him like that'#the main thing that made me make this post was thinking about Yoosung's mom saying how Jumin calls her sometimes and sends her holiday gift #like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! idk man that just plays on a loop in my head #i know thats like a very professional thing to do. Jumin was raised to please people in a business capacity #and the he cares about the RFA so yea it makes sense. im sure he has gifts sent out to companies his works with #and I'm sure if the other members had a good relationship with their parents hed do the same with them #but in the RFA Yoosung and I guess V are the only ones with parents they talk to #idk if he sends a gift to V's father tho bc we never talk to him #but man. while i know hed do it with the other members if he could just the fact he does it with Yoosung is sweet #and it makes the part in Seven's route where he calls Yoosung's mom about her son's dilemma make sense to me bc they do talk once in a whil #so its not too out of the blue when he does it i guess #but man can we talk about how awesome Jaehee is? bc her coworker that picks up her phone spends every call gushing about her #like we knew she's great at her job but man hearing her coworker talk about her fills me with such love and admiration #and she's apparently really loved by the other assistants too like they all gush about her #jaehee is the best character in the game im not joking around #they wanna get close to her but bc she's their boss it's hard T_T #and the one that picks up the phone wishes Jaehee knows she was the one that stood with her overnight when she wakes #Yuni (the assistant you're talking to) says she would of quit the job had it not been for her #LIKE!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAA!!!!#it was a nice way to use the call feature during the first two days of the characters not being awake to answer #and even though this is supposed to be the last thing you play before completing the whole game #you still learn something new about the characters you've known since day 1

#I have thoughts about the new tour yet I am not sure if I should share (given why I do so in tags)#I am not surprised to see denmark is absent #I am a bit surprised to see no scandinavian country AT ALL #not surprised to see germany and the uk have most dates (that's sadly something I've seen a lot from bands/artists I like)#a little befundled with the route he has scheduled for both germany and the uk dates #glad to see other countries like switzerland france and the netherlands get their debut #not surprised it is in october since that seems to be around the same time for his europe antics last year as well #all this said I am a bit conflicted what to do myself #I'd like to go to gigs on this tour #yet I've already run out of the country four times these past upcoming five months (three times to finland)#since it is quite expensive and maybe not something I will have time for given I hopefully get an internship in august #with that in mind I feel like I should probably go for only a few dates #and yet last time I felt very much like I was missing out and overlooked because I didn't go to “more than two shows”#and here is where I feel like my thoughts are probably not great #i was thinking about maybe going for hamburg as first priority since it is the closest (4 hours in train)#then have frankfurt and munich as second priorities making it a little mini tour #I am not sure if I'd physically and mentally be able to do more than three gigs in a row #yet if I am I sort of want to go to zurich too because I've never been there #two days to decide is not very long #I feel very stressed tbh #and I hope noone will take this in any wrong way #please I really dont want to feel shit again #I know my last concert related take was on the fence #(even though as it turned out the venue did worse than me in that regard)#but this one is really just me thinking about what would be the smartest plan #other possible options would be to go for zurich since it is in a weekend (sunday) and then - depending on whether or not I have work #either go home or follow jere to amsterdam (then maybe paris and brussels)#another option is berlin then hamburg and then to home from there (so two shows)#or london and bristol since its the weekend (maybe manchester as well if it is not far - so up to three shows)#the latter I am a bit concerned about since being trans in the uk is not great atm

i’ve been playing bg1 and it’s honestly quite fun. still in the prologue because i can only play for a bit in the evenings but i’m really charmed by it and fond of my gorion’s ward

We’ve reached the point in the year for my engineering team that I’m just kinda watching everyone (but especially the grad students in charge of the team) slowly lose their sanity

#shoutout to the guy who spent like 8 hours yesterday tracing wires in the car #I’ve just been in my little arts and crafts corner with a hot glue gun prepping parts for casting #I had to grab something from the office this morning and I walked in and two of our grad students were arguing #about where to place some components and the options were put them in the drawer on the dash or just Velcro them inside the center console #I voted velcro paritally because it was described as a component sandwich #I think an important part of life is that sometimes you gotta get involved in a project that you know is going to be hell when you’re in it #but you’ll look back on it fondly #like yeah I’m having fun but I’m also spending 5 hours a day in the shop and staying up late to catch up on my homework and I’m very tired #my brain is filled with so many component acronyms #I only vaguely understand what a can bus is #it’s great I wouldn’t have it any other way
