2, 9, and 13 for the ask game? ^_^
Isat ask game link!!! Thank you for the ask!!!!
2. Least Favorite Character?
Oooh, my spicy take first.
...Mal du pays.
LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN, I adore them in concept!!!!! I think mdp is a good emotional conclusion to the ghost arc and a good way to show Siffrin losing his resolve at the end of act 5. There was an amazing analysis post about mdp and Siffrin's relationship with their own homesickness as well. However. Ngl. I remember none of mdp's lines. Also, the "someone intimidating your loved ones yelling back they hate you" isn't my favorite trope either.
Idk, mdp did nothing for me. I'm much more of a "darkness parts of your mind sound like sweet nothings" sorta person rather than the intensity of mdp. I'm sorry little homesick fella. Love that you had the fucked up version of the death music though.
9. What would your wish at the Favor tree be?
I am. Limiting the range of this question because otherwise I'd be here all day. I am going to assume that we're in a similar circumstance as the party and we're about to go fight the King, and I'm just a little guy hoping for some favor tomorrow, and don't know the favor tree has actual major reality bending power.
In THAT circumstance, I'd probably wish that we all would survive the next day.
13. Favorite Line?
Don't make me choose between my darlings-
Tbh I could pick nearly any line from the Loop fight tbh. When looking for any one particular line, I nearly cried, so there's that. My darling Loop my beloved, I want to give you the world.
But if not for that, tbh both the act 3 and act 4 versions of Odile's quest just stick with me. In general, Odile's quest is just one of the most fascinating in the game, and provides such a depth to the world. But I REALLY like that quest in particular reveals about Siffrin. Particularly act 4, between the family quest and the sus quest, you get a lot of the reason WHY emotionally Siffrin sticks with the loops and doesn't tell their family what's going on.
(Is it any wonder you crave knowledge? Habits?!?) (If it all keeps happening the exact same way every time, you'll never lose anything, will you? You'll HAVE to remember it all, because you're living it!!!) (Forever living in memories you can't let go of!!!) (You're so pathetic.) (Telling the King to let go?) (You can't even do that. Can't let go of it.) (This perfect play.)
Also it's one of the few family quests where Siffrin thinks mean things about them while not in act 5 aslkdja .
(What a privilege, to be able to think your roots don't inform your identity.)
(chef's kiss) love that for you Sif. Go be a little mean in your head. it's unfair, but also the fact it took this long to be mean is impressive tbh. Also good set up for act 5 alskdjsa.

Okay okay okay okay. I will dump a list of thoughts and feelings here:
Tumblr media
good god rvb get better jokes, a couple were still pretty good but woof. the "you guys are so predictable i could leave a prerecorded message" bit was incredibly stale and i felt like the zoom call joke went on for 15 years.
red team's interactions in the early part of this while sarge is still there are so rote, man.
yes caboose's voice is different, i was curious about how they were going to handle that. (there was a falling out with the old guy, i mostly just know he said some shit during the george floyd protests but looking it up it sounds like something had happened earlier and he'd been laid off in 2019.)
fascinated that sarge's death stuck, but i've always thought grif and simmons without sarge was interesting, so. why not. i feel like with red team especially here, the whole point is that life moves on? this is very much a "you grow up and move on from the things you loved when you were young" kind of story and sarge is one of the most big goofy cartoon parts of the show, so ending him and having grif and simmons figure out how to move on from him has meaning i guess. the older people who shaped your world inevitably pass out of it. not to give rvb too much credit, but hey.
poor tucker, but i still think maybe having an incredibly angsty unexplored subplot might be better than having to spend 2 seasons having all his character growth dissolved away in favor of absent father jokes and whatever the fuck all that shit was in 16
live commentary on the whole thing with red team acting like they were abandoning caboose and then coming back to help him:
Tumblr media
also this:
Tumblr media
simmons you poor nerd i'm sorry it took all the way to here to give you anything, wasn't expecting this to be a good season for simmons of all people but at least he got something.
THE REAL CURVEBALL WAS I NEVER EXPECTED THEM TO GET KATHLEEN ZUELCH TO REPRISE TEX EVER AGAIN, i was going to make a crack about how tex getting a better ending would've never been on my bingo card in a billion years but i'm actually not sure this counts because i never cared about chex enough to think about it that hard. raincheck.
tex protecting carolina is nothing but it's also everything.
i'm stupid and missed that doc was dead for a while holy shit that's actually really sad and on the one hand oof, but on the other hand i love really sad things. fuck.
restoration donut only coming back for one last stupid fucking gay joke in an aside vs season 17 centering donut and how he was always such a neglected character. hmm. hmmmmm. hmmmmmmmmm.
it's sad wash wasn't there more, but i really did love "wash throws himself off a cliff to intentionally injure himself and summon carolina instead of contacting her in a more normal way" for him.
and i love that if something bad happens to wash carolina will come down on whatever it is like a hammer from orbit. at the very least, it made me so happy to have it reinforced one last time how much those two mean to one another before the end. after everything i enjoy a moment of them being okay.
overall i do think the group splitting up in pieces feels better to me than them all living together in a big weird codependent cluster forever, it feels like a braver and more true ending, but it's one of those things where season 17 was so much better at thinking about the inner lives of a bunch of characters that it's hard for me to say this is clearly better without reservation in all areas. like, sometimes people matter to you intensely for a big chunk of your life but then you have to move on. and fuck, maybe that's not even forever, but i feel good about grif getting to finally go home and i feel good about grif and simmons saying goodbye to one another and trying to be normal about it. let them have some space from one another. they need space to decide who they are with this part of their lives being over.
nothing they did here can stop me from shipping that and i can very easily fanfic out an ending for them in my brain from this. i'm fine. i'm thriving.
POOR POOR TUCKER, please hug tucker, he has to be going through so much right now.
i wonder if locus, somewhere out there, feels like he dodged a bullet and doesn't know why. (i wish he'd had to deal with red team one last time)
idk i probably have more thoughts kicking around feel free to talk to me i've been so insane about this for so long it's my oldest brainrot-

Spike's 2024 Reading List
So today (June 21) I was thinking to myself a little lamentation about how little I read compared to when I was a kid. But then I thought, hey, I listen to audiobooks, so actually I read quite a bit more than I think, I just rarely sit down and read a physical book. So I decided to make a list.
And then I thought, it'd be a good idea to put that list somewhere I can find it again, and maybe even write a few sentences about how I felt about each of the books.
And Ked said it was a good idea, so here goes. In rough chronological order, because to be honest I can't remember which order I finished some of these in earlier this year, but I'll try to be more diligent about it moving forward:
Murder on the Links, Agatha Christie - what is there to say? It's a Poirot book. I am a lot like Hastings reading these, trying to figure things out as we go and getting it woefully wrong before the end. The book equivalent of a warm cup of cocoa at bedtime for those who like this kind of thing. 6/10
The Right Stuff, Tom Wolfe - I love two things in literature: murder and adventure. This book definitely favored the latter (no one got murdered although some people did die), and was a fascinating look into the selection of the original astronauts. I did this one on audiobook, and Dennis Quaid read it; not my favorite narrator but he did well. 7/10
The Great Air Race: Glory, Tragedy, and the Dawn of American Aviation, John Lancaster - This scratched the adventure itch, and if you're looking for a lighter read that is ABSOLUTELY WILD look no further. 7/10
Light From Uncommon Stars, Ryka Aoki - I'm sure this book is enjoyable for somebody, but that somebody isn't me. A series of baffling decisions made by the author and characters from beginning to end, punctuated with the most saccharine ending possible. 1/10
Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World, Matt Parker - Do you like math? Do you think you can stomach an entire chapter about how people misuse Microsoft Excel? I did this on audiobook and if it weren't for the author's infectious enthusiasm as he read I don't think I would have made it through the Excel chapter to be honest. Otherwise an interesting read, though. 4/10
Everybody in My Family Has Killed Someone, Benjamin Stevenson - I LOVE THIS BOOK. I love a murder mystery, the characters were all awful and fascinating in their own way, you couldn't help but feel bad for the main character at every turn, and all in all I couldn't put it down. 10/10
A Short History of Nearly Everything, Bill Bryson - Exactly what the title says, and although I wouldn't call it a light read it was a nice way to spend my long commutes. The audiobook narrator was very good on this one, and I enjoyed it quite a lot - it also gave me some ideas of books to read next! 7/10
The Body, Bill Bryson - Coming hot off enjoying his other book, I downloaded the audiobook for this right away. And it was ... fine. Interesting, even. But whereas the other book was read by some Shakesperean-actor-sounding British guy, this one was read by the author who has the weirdest accent ever. It was honestly distracting at times. Plus, it ran more on the dry side, with less information about people's petty arguments than the other book. 5/10
Raising Steam, Terry Pratchett - No, although I am a Pratchett superfan I had not read this one yet. It was my last one, and until this year I wasn't ready. And it was good, in a sort of bittersweet way: Pratchett in my opinion was not writing like himself in this book, and the character of Moist seemed a little off at times to me. But I loved it all the same, and nestled it right into the space I have saved for it on my shelf of favorites. 6/10
Midnight in Chernobyl, Adam Higginbotham - Do you love nuclear accidents? Do you love learning about the tiny human mistakes that snowball into a catastrophe? Then this is the book for you! It's a long one, but it gripped me from beginning to end - even though you know what happens, reading about it unfolding step by step is so fascinating. This was an audiobook, and the narrator did a great job as well. 8/10
Ranger Confidential: Living, Working, and Dying in the National Parks, Andrea Lankford - So out the gate I will say that I really, really enjoyed this book, but I got it on audiobook, and for some reason the narrator decided the tone to go with for this book about Park rangers was sultry. Honestly I loved the book, but the narration was so incongruous at times as to be distracting. Still, I will not deduct points for this, because I'm just judging the book. Also, I sobbed like a baby listening to the end while driving to a restaurant to meet my family for my brother's birthday dinner, and it really freaked them all out. 8/10
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage, Alfred Lansing - When it says incredible, it means incredible. Like holy shit. I listened to this on audiobook, the narrator was on point, and even though I knew sort of what happened during the Shackleton expedition I could not stop listening. Amazing book, I will not say more because honestly just read it. 10/10
Into the Planet: My Life as a Cave Diver, Jill Heinerth - I am not usually one to read memoirs, but on a whim I pulled this one after Audible suggested it based on my prior books. I enjoyed it - Heinerth is a good writer, and her stories about diving and her life are truly fascinating. From actual cave diving (scary), to confronting a burglar (scary), to facing harsh criticism as a female in a male-dominated endeavor (also scary) Heinerth is a strong woman and a great storyteller, and her book was an enjoyable read. 6/10
No Shortcuts to The Top: Climbing the World's 14 Highest Peaks, Ed Viesturs - Again, I am not really a memoir person, but damn if Viesturs doesn't have a hell of a story to tell. Mountaineering has always interested me, and this book was mentioned in a Reddit thread about good books dealing with that subject. Viesturs recounts his journey to becoming the first American to summit all 14 of the world's 8000m+ peaks, and without oxygen to boot, and he does it in grand style. There were parts of the book where I was holding my breath along with the text, waiting to see if he would make it out, or if his partners would. Overall an incredible read, and I'm looking forward to reading his second book about K2 and the history of it later this year! 8/10
Poirot Investigates, Agatha Christie - It's Poirot again! Back with his idiot friend Hastings for a delightful compilation of short mysteries. I have long-since accepted that I am just as stupid as Hastings and incapable of using my little grey cells, and so I get to follow along with Poirot's logic with wonder. Poirot books are what they are: cozy old mysteries with twists and turns and a weird little detective in a snazzy suit, and this book delivered plenty of little bite-sized morsels that I was able to enjoy piecemeal. 7/10

I have spent my sick day doing a thing of musical motifs and where they recur in Chess in Concert. I realized some fascinating things in the process of doing this, like how the bit where Florence and Anatoly discuss their frustrations with Freddie and him not being there and how he could go jump off the mountain for all they care in "Mountain Duet" literally has the same melody as the verse of "Pity the Child #2" about Freddie's mom neglecting him in favor of more ill-fated relationships. You probably all figured this out already but I was here like oh my god.
I have probably managed to fail to figure out where some bits are actually the same etc., so by all means tell me if that's the case so I can correct it.
A couple of other unrelated observations I made in the process of making this (they're also about Freddie, I unfortunately love this terrible disaster man):
"Talking Chess" isn't actually Freddie's final scene; he's also there commentating before and during "Endgame #2". Before, he reads out what's clearly a script prepared by Walter: "All eyes in the world of chess, and indeed many eyes outside, are turned towards Bangkok, Thailand today, where what many here expect to be the final game of the match in this gripping encounter has just been launched with a ceremonial splendor, and all the talk is of the recent sensational loss of form of world champion Sergievsky, who seems certain to surrender his title here today to the mightily impressive Viigand." We already know he doesn't believe this; he thinks Viigand is deeply mediocre, and you can even hear it in Adam Pascal's voice a bit as he says this. After the song starts, he sings what may also be a script, given it starts like what Molokov is saying, and how he sounds a bit stiff saying it: How straightforward the game / When one is free from distraction! / When your only concern / Is laid out so clearly before you / Sixty-four squares / They're the reason you know you exist. There's a heavy sense of irony to that as a script, of course - Walter and Molokov have been doing everything they can to distract Anatoly from the game. The literal sentiment, though, is something Freddie probably genuinely feels.
During "The Interview", Freddie also looks extremely stiff and bitter at the line Chess and politics / I take my hat off / to any champion / who can pull that off. Almost like he's himself a champion who's been forced to play politics instead of chess and hates it actually.
Honestly in general I just like Adam Pascal's performance a lot? He is so distinctly bitter and self-loathing throughout most of Act II and that really helps sell his turnaround. Rewatching a scene like "The Interview", you can tell Freddie's channeling some genuine feelings of spite into it but he also tangibly isn't having any fun doing this. It's good nuance that I enjoy rewatching.
I realized while cross-referencing some stuff that the production that put the full "Pity the Child" after "Florence Quits" was the original 1986 London West End production. That's the wrong place for it! The correct place is exactly where it is here! Honestly as many complaints as I had I find myself also understanding exactly why Tim Rice thought this was the production where they were finally getting it right, because they got Freddie very right here and that's obviously the most important bit what do you mean there are other characters in this musical. I am curious about other versions and whether they improved on other bits, but I expect I will die on the hill of how Freddie's arc ought to be exactly how it is in Chess in Concert (except maybe you could move "I Know Him So Well" so it doesn't awkwardly come in between "Pity the Child #2" and "Talking Chess").

A brief realization of the self.
So, I got plenty of friends, mutuals, and folks I follow who are Plurals, Systems, whatever term best fits them in particular, seems to vary on who you talk to about it. Their experiences are not mine, and mine are not theirs, and I don't feel like my own situation qualifies quite the same, but I have come to realize that my "Aspects" might be akin to fledgling personalities in their own right, and that would explain a good deal about how they seem to fully take the spotlight whenever I base a TTRPG character off one of them, or one of them claims one of said characters...
So, I feel like sharing, for posterity's sake and to just have it out there, who I am, and the parts that make up whole.
Elazul/Janus/Blue: The core, idealized-self me, that is all of me at once. The me I see myself as when thinking of myself as a whole, and who I would like to be. Also my usual default personality when trying out a new setting. Feels most at self as a catwolf. Not really an Aspect, as (almost) everyone else here branched from him. It's just me, but fat and furry (and magic, hehe).
Russel: The part of me that loves to build, that desires to protect, that wishes I had the strength to step in when others do not. According to an incident during on of the aforementioned TTRPGs, he might be carrying some of my past trauma for me. For some reason, favored animal is a Deer Mouse. So far my most directly expressed Aspect, having actually been used in a complete campaign. Character came before the Aspect formed around it.
Nicholas/Nick/NOX: The part of me that loves music, both playing and listening to, that is fascinated by sound and its effects on objects and the mind, that wants little more than to be happy and share his favorite sounds and songs with people he cares about. Favored animal is pretty much any bat, has not picked a specific one yet. Second most-expressed aspect so far. Same deal as Russel with regards to which formed first.
Zeke/Ezekiel: One I don't really talk about much because he's not as prominent as the others. The part of me that loves to cook, loves food, and loves to share. Also probably the part of me that has the most trouble accepting gifts, despite how much he likes giving them. Has not developed enough to have a favored animal yet, and has only been directly expressed once. Was an active Aspect before I came up with the character he uses.
Ryan: The only voice in my head that doesn't feel like it's an intrinsic part of myself. Kinda just showed up one day, and seems to pick one of the other parts of myself to imitate, making their voice have a greater impact on my choices whenever this happens. Really likes masks for some reason. Favored animal is apparently octopi and cuttlefish. Has yet to be directly expressed, but already has made an impact on my local friend-group somehow. Might be an Aspect that represents my tendency to mimic others when I encounter things about them I like? There is no "Who came first?" with this one, Aspect and character are one in the same.
-------------
These are the voices that help me work things out in my head while I do my day-to-day stuff, they seem to have actually unique perspectives on things, different ways to go about finding solutions, but they're never really "at the wheel" so to speak. They do, however, take up a co-pilot like position from time to time, and do ease the mental burdens I'm dealing with at the time when they do...
I dunno, I just... Really had to get this thought out there for some reason, don't mind me if none of this makes sense to you.

JELLYYYYYYYY my friend my pal my brother in bite, I SEEN YA REBLOG and now I am HERE to get UP in your BUSINESS with QUESTIONs about your OCS who are ALSO MY BELOVEDS. (please)
I can't resist asking 7 and 18 about Edyiss my darling For Tsurin I absolutely need 16 and 23 And for Sorrow (asking for Tank and myself): 5, 20, and 21 And because I am perpetually curious about your marvellous creations, I'm enclosing a free space where you can pick a question you've been dying to be asked about the OC of your choice. THANK YOU I AM ENCLOSING BITE 8D
oh man you have released the kraken of ranting about characters lmao
now!! as for ed, i would bounce these questions back at the actual owner of edyiss, @pen99, but as far as my INTERPRETATIONS of edyiss hawke go for the purposes of my stories featuring her!
number 7, What's one way your OC has changed since you first came up with them?: edyiss has more or less remained consistent since i started writing her, though she's definitely more self aware than the rough framework my initial studies for the first story would've indicated! she just doesn't like making a big deal out of it or actually changing because of it :v
number 18, Is your OC more cold and detached or up close and personal?: edyiss is a fascinating mix of both depending on context and how pissed off she is, but in general i would say she'd more up close and personal in terms of her emotional/internal reactions, while often SEEMING cold and detached
tsurin tabris!
number 16, What is your OC's pain tolerance like?: medium, as least based from the perspective of some body who regularly suffers through migraines! i think she would be much better at handling sudden and short term pain rather than chronic issues tbh, it would fuck with her intensely, which is why the lingering issues from her burn scars after fighting the archdemon are the WORST for her
number 23, What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?: i would say the hardest emotion for tsurin to process is grief, she's been struggling with it since her mother died in her early teens and it sends spiderweb cracks out into basically most of if not everything she does, while the hardest for her to express around most people is genuine affection/trust. she only really knows how to do it around family she's known her whole life. shit's tough!!
sorrow cousland/shepard!!
number 5, How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?: in terms of what he thinks is strategically sound, VERY FAR. in mass effect he sacrificed the council for instance bc he thought it just made sense while in dragon age he sacrificed isolde! in terms of personal desires, he is far less willing to pursue THINGS he wants, but in terms of RELATIONSHIPS, he is pretty intense about pursuing somebody unless it's made obvious that his affections aren't wanted
number 20, Does your OC have a tendency to get jealous? If so, how does this manifest?: sort of! he's polyamorous in name, but he does get insecure and grumpy/withdrawn if he feels his partner(s) aren't seeing to his emotional needs in favor of somebody else, and i can easily see him getting snippy if pressed because he doesn't! want to talk about it! it's FINE!!
number 21, Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it?: aside from his stutter, sorrow has tremors in his hands due to chronic pain, which is one reason he has his weapons modified so he can't drop them! though the answer you're looking for is, "never talk about it ever at all to the point that some of his companions had no idea he had chronic pain at all for MONTHS"
aaaaand for the one question! i do in fact have a song i associate with tsurin tabris from WAY BACK

Surprise voice lines for Raiden AU Scara!
Hello
“I am Shiden, the Tenno of Inazuma. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to properly thank your for aiding Inazuma, but at the very least, allow me to return the favor by aiding you on your journey. It’s not like I have any major political responsibilities. That’s all my mother’s job.”
Chat: View
“The world outside the confines of Inazuma City… I want to see it all.”
Chat: Interest
“Hmm… Could that possibly be something of interest over there? Let’s go see!”
When it Rains:
“I’ve rarely gotten to experience rain without thunder accompanying it. It’s so peaceful.”
When Thunder Strikes:
“Th-that wasn’t me, I swear!”
When it Snows:
“There’s always something so calming about seeing everything covered in pure white. But also…something very melancholy…”
When the Sun Is Out:
“Even the most devastating storms must eventually rest.”
When It’s Windy
“Gah! Please don’t let me get blown away!”
Good Morning:
“Good morning~! Did you sleep well? Waking up in a sour mood can ruin your whole day.”
Good Afternoon:
“I was just about to head out for some tea. Care to join me? Even the most bitter of brews always taste better when you have someone to share it with.”
Good Evening:
“*sigh* I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of watching the sun set. It feels like two worlds are connected at this time of day.”
Good Night:
“You should get some sleep. You’ve still got a long journey ahead of you. Who knows what you’ll face next? A sharp mind will keep you prepared for anything.”
About Shiden: Blacksmiths
“I’ve always been fascinated by the art of blacksmithing. I’ve gotten a few chances to visit the workshop in Inazuma City in my time, and there’s just something about it that makes it feel like home. The warmth of the furnace, the rhythmic clank of hammer on blade, the friendly chatter between colleagues. Blacksmiths just have this air about them that makes even a complete novice like me feel welcome.”
About Shiden: Family
“My mother has made many poor decisions ever since my creation; probably even before that. And my sister had no choice but to follow her whims. But family is supposed to call each other out when we do something wrong, right? I don’t regret confronting them the way I did. I only regret that it took me so long to do it…”
About Us: Mutuality
“I believe relationships should be based on mutual understanding and equal footing. That’s why I’ll do my best to protect you as much as you may need to protect me.”
About Us: Transience
“Eternity is an endless cycle of things beginning and ending. Even your time here in Teyvat will eventually come to its conclusion. That’s why I’ll treasure every second I get to spend with you and learn as much as I can before you inevitably move onto the next world.”
About the Vision:
“I’m aware that Electro Visions stopped manifesting during the Vision Hunt, but I couldn’t tell you why. Could it be that the Heavenly Principles intervened? Or is the Fatui really so powerful that they were able to quash the ambitions of the people that much…?”
Something to Share:
“It truly is a shame what happened to the Raiden Gokaden. I’m glad that at least some of their craft still survives to this day. Maybe I’ll head to Tatarasuna at some point and see if anything there can be salvaged. Would you mind helping me with the fundraising when the time comes? Hm? No! I don’t want them to just give me money just because I’m the Tenno!”
Interesting Things:
“Did you know there are several legends about the origins of the Thunder Sakura? Some people even think they’re fragments of the Electro Archon. Hehe~ It’s always so funny thinking of Mother turning into a tree. They’re not too far off, though. The Shogun Puppet and I were crafted from wood.”
About Ei: Relation
“While we may not be related by blood since we have none to share, I do consider Beelzebul my mother. I know it probably sounds like a strange sentiment considering the way she’s treated me all these years, but…mothers make mistakes, too. Her mistakes just happen to have heavier consequences since she’s a god.”
About Ei: Puppet
“I don’t resent Mother for bringing me into being. Though my existence hasn’t always been a happy one, I am glad I exist. Deep in my chest where my heart would be, I knew her delusions and her grieving would eventually come to an end.”
About the Raiden Shogun:
“I’m not sure why I developed emotions while she didn’t. You would think it would be the other way around, right? The prototype is more robotic and the final draft is more refined and human. Maybe Mother wanted her own vessel to be a blank slate because she herself lost her own identity acting as her sister’s kagemusha.”
About Yae Miko:
“For a long time, Lady Miko was the only one I felt I could confide in about my opposition to Mother’s Eternity. She agreed with me that Mother was taking the completely wrong approach to the loss of her sister. She held nothing back when expressing her concerns about my existence. Hm? Why are you looking at me like I’m crazy? Yes, even someone like Lady Miko is capable of being honest every once in a while.”
About Kamisato Ayato:
“That’s the current head of the Kamisato Clan and the Yashiro Commission, right? It must have been awful, having to take on so much responsibility at such a young age with no warning. I just hope he was given an opportunity to grieve properly. I would hate for him to shut himself out like my mother did.”
About Kujou Sara:
“She’s fiercely loyal to the Shogun, for better or for worse. I don’t mean to speak ill of such a distinguished General, but that kind of blind devotion can be scary in the wrong circumstances.”
About Sangonomiya Kokomi:
“My mother owes the people of Watatsumi great reparations for what she did to their god. Doubly so knowing that they were hit the hardest by the Sakoku Decree. I commend their Divine Priestess for her bravery in standing up to the god that slayed her own. I hope she never loses that spark. We need more leaders like her, who will fight for what’s right even with the odds stacked against them.”
About Kaedehara Kazuha:
“Ah, right, the last practitioner of the Isshin Art of blade smithing. It saddens me to hear that he has no plans to continue his family business, but far be it from me to stop him from living the life he wants. I can only hope that he’ll teach someone his craft before he dies.”
About Arataki Itto:
“I haven’t had many opportunities to talk to him yet, but he seems like a good guy. Y-yes, I know he’s the leader of a gang, but that’s more of an arbitrary definition of ‘good’ and ‘bad.’ Despite his…occupation, he has a strong moral code and a terrific sense of humor. That’s the kind of thing that matters to me.”
More About Shiden I:
“Despite my seemingly luxurious existence, my life has actually been fairly uneventful. I can’t promise I’ll have anything interesting to share, but I’ll be happy to answer your questions!”
More About Shiden II:
“Although my official title is Emperor, I don’t actually hold a lot of political power in Inazuma. However, I still garner quite a bit of respect from my people. If anyone tries to give you any trouble within our borders, call for me, and I’ll set them straight.”
More About Shiden III:
“A lot of people find Chinju Forest eerie, but I personally think the rippling stream reflecting the glow of the flowers is rather soothing. It makes for a perfect meditation spot. The bake-danuki that still live there are pretty cute, too, even if they can’t communicate very well.”
More About Shiden IV:
“Can you keep a secret for me? One time, when I snuck out to see the blacksmiths, I forged my own blade. It’s not very good, but I was so happy to have something to truly call mine, something that I made with my own hands. For a brief moment, as I held that sloppily put together sword in my hands, I felt like I had my own identity. I still have it stashed somewhere. I could show you sometime if you’d like. Haha, of course I’m embarrassed at the quality, but we’re friends now, right? You can make fun of it all you want. I don’t mind, really.”
More About Shiden V:
“I don’t know what exactly the Tsaritsa is planning the do with the other Gnoses, but I was relieved to finally be rid of that thing. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t an easy decision to make, but now I understand how even a god like Morax could be persuaded to bargain his away. A Gnosis is nothing more than a tether. Now that it’s out of my hands, I finally feel I have the freedom to stop trying to be like my late aunt. It was never truly mine to begin with.”
Shiden’s Hobbies:
“I often used to occupy my time helping out the attendants in Tenshukaku. My favorite activity was assisting the chefs, and I’d like to think that over 500 years, I’ve gotten pretty good at cooking.”
Shiden’s Troubles:
“I’m sure you can imagine how spending most of my life locked up in Tenshukaku has left my social skills a bit lacking. I hope you don’t mind teaching me as we go. My status means nothing to you, so you’re the only one I can trust to correct me if I accidentally say or do something rude.”
Favorite Food:
“This may come as a surprise, but I actually prefer bitter things. Too much sugar or spice can overwhelm the dish and conceal its true intentions. That’s why you’ll never see me putting anything in my tea. Some things should just be left as they are.”
Least Favorite Food:
“I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. Especially when the sweets are also sticky like honey or caramel. It makes me feel like my teeth are fusing together. It’s a rather unpleasant sensation…”
Receiving a Gift I:
“This is perfect! Not too much, and not too little. Well done!”
Receiving a Gift II:
“Would you mind sharing this recipe with me? I don’t want to have to bother you every time I’m craving it.”
Receiving a Gift III:
“Urgh…! Well, it’s better than Mother’s cooking at least…?”
Birthday:
“Happy birthday! I’m not super familiar with the typical conventions of birthday celebrations, but I do know you’re supposed to give the person a gift, so here! Now that I’m not trapped in Tenshukaku anymore, I was able to learn blacksmithing more seriously, and I made these twin daggers with you in mind. You can give your sibling the other one when you’re reunited. I hope that’s not too forward of me.”
Feelings About Ascension: Intro
“I happily embrace this change.”
Feelings About Ascension: Building Up
“The future is looking brighter with each day.”
Feelings About Ascension: Climax
“The beauty of time is that we never know what’s coming next. So just take it moment for moment.”
Feelings About Ascension: Conclusion
“At last, I have a power that I can call my own. I never could’ve gotten here without you. I hope we can continue to grow together in the future.”
Elemental Skill:
“Eyes up!”
“A storm is brewing!”
“Strike twice!”
Elemental Burst:
“You can’t run from the future!”
“The future is now!”
“For Inazuma’s future!”
Sprint Start:
“Quickly now.”
Opening Treasure Chest:
“What are these used for?”
“Is this a good find?”
“It’s all yours.”
Low HP:
“You can’t get rid of me that easy!”
“The future looks bleak…”
“You’ll pay for this!”
Ally at Low HP:
“Let me handle this!”
“I’ll make them regret harming you!”
Fallen:
“Every storm…eventually…ends…”
“My future ends here…”
“Time will go on…without me…”
Light Hit Taken:
“Hardly a scratch!”
“Was that it?”
Heavy Hit Taken:
“Lucky shot!”
“Not bad…”
Joining Party:
“Finally, a chance to see the outside world!”
“I wonder what the future has in store for us.”
“You need my help? I’d be honored!”

Okay jc is the baby of the family, but not really. Nhs and lwj have really spoiled baby brothers attitude, but jc has an elder brother complex in my opinion and this makes me insane. I don't know if it's because he is the sect heir or because of his family dynamics. But these are my thoughts, yours?
With the understanding that I can only speak to CQL (the novel wasn't to my taste, personally, so I didn't get far in it) I am FASCINATED by your idea because I have a very different interpretation of my own!
For context, I lack the relevant cultural elements, so I don't think I can comment knowledgeably on some things? But I, who has some very similar personality traits to JC, am the youngest of 4 in a family dynamic that's similar enough to the Jiangs that, more than once, I had to pause CQL and touch some grass outside. 😅
Personally, I read JC as the Quintessential Youngest Child (TM) in the sense that, like:
He kinda takes his older siblings' support for granted, which is a) common for younger siblings, who have never known life without siblings, and b) JC's strongest and most immediate form of emotional support (since he probably can't/won't connect much with the other disciples and his relationships with his parents are rather fraught). It also means that where he might be more suspicious of other people, he often doesn't even question his own siblings (read: WWX) even when faced with evidence that maybe he should. It's a specific kind of naivete that I expect to see more often from younger siblings who have internalized an "us vs. the world" kind of dynamic.
Which also means that we youngest sibs can be ABSOLUTE DISASTERS when we lose that support, or think we've lost it. (JC being a little bitch during Lan indoctrination was a mirror of me when one of my older sisters started dating boys, how dare she have a life of her own that didn't involve me in every aspect!!! Clearly this means I have to be a passive-aggressive bitch about it!!!!!)
The jealousy, born from insecurity, of seeing older siblings be more liked/talented/etc than you, which you're too young to understand is the result of differences in age and maturity with the accompanying personal growth. No, it's clearly because You Suck.
....and then compound that inferiority complex with the pressure of being The Heir. In my family, I was the child of both parents while my siblings are half-sibs via my father; my mother was not unlike Yu Ziyuan in terms of her Expectations For Me, but my Jiang Fengmian-esque father favored his eldest son. So you push yourself to overachievement and hold yourself to an impossible standard to Prove You Matter As A Person. But JC, who is an accomplished cultivator in his own right (e.g. he developed his golden core a year early!), is in the shadow of a brother who's a legit genius, so what efforts might have 'worked' in other families won't work here. ('Worked' is in scare quotes because this isn't a healthy perspective to have, obvs.)
And when you're the baby sib, you're never not the baby sib, and damn but this can give you such a complex lmao. I don't know how many times I've had to remind my siblings and surviving parent that I'm an adult, I've been an adult for a long time actually, I'm allowed to make decisions about my own life, and I am in fact capable of saying Grown Up Things. It's infuriating! But when you get angry about it, it's just a sign of your immaturity! So then you're labeled as too sensitive, too reactionary, can't you just calm down... Look, at the risk of self-projecting too much, I'm just gonna say that I don't always like JC or agree with his decisions, but holy shit does his character land on some real personal places for me lol. ANYWAY, WWX's refusal to tell JC about the golden core exchange sounds to me, as a baby sib who clearly overidentifies with JC, like, "I don't trust you to make the right decision for yourself, so I have to do it for you, even though we've survived enough things by now for you to have proved yourself an adult capable of making your own choices." But the golden core thing is enough of A Thing to unpack that I'm just gonna leave it there with the clarification that this isn't actually meant to be a value judgment on WWX's action either way.
Also, 'mixed households' in regards to children who are adopted vs. blood-related can have some super complicated emotional dynamics, but this point starts getting into some cultural stuff that I don't feel I understand well enough to try digging into, especially with how horribly messy Anglophone fandom has been regarding the nature of WWX's place within the Jiang family.
SO YEAH ANON that's kinda the main points of my take on why JC Is Family Baby Whether He Likes It Or Not and some of why WWX Has Permanent Big Brother Disease lmao. I try to stay grounded in what I think I see actually on the screen and how it impacts the characters, but of course it's inevitably informed by my own experiences, for better or worse.
But that doesn't mean your take isn't just as valid or maybe is even based on the same points, I could totally see that happening depending on what you mean by 'elder brother complex.' ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ

Remon here,
Spoilers ahead. I know this drama came out on Netflix a while back, but I only just had the opportunity to finish watching it. I had my eyes on it even before it was released, mostly because Nana is in the main cast, but also I’m a sucker for Sci-Fi and Mysteries. Combine them and you have me hooked. Come to think of it, can one exist without the other? But let me give you some information about the drama itself before I begin my… “review”. Give yourself and awkward pause here, because I just gave myself one.
So Glitch is Korean Mystery Sci-Fi drama that came out on Netflix on October 7 (On Screen on October 6 during the Busan International Film Festival), 2022. You may know some of its cast members, such as Park Won Suk from Missing: The other side, Ryu Kyung Soo from The Sound of Magic and Hellbound, or Lee Dong Hwi from Reply 1988. But the main roles go to Yeon Yeo Bin (Vincenzo, Be Melodramatic) who plays Hong Ji Hyo, and Nana (former After School member, Oh! Master) who plays Huh Bo Ra. The show follows Ji Hyo and Bo Ra’s story in two timelines. Past and present. In the past version of events, Ji Hyo is obsessed by aliens and researching stories about them, while Bo Ra is a delinquent who has become an outcast in school. The two develop a deep friendship until a scary misunderstanding causes them to fall out. Years later Ji Hyo’s (ex) boyfriend goes missing, which leads the two girls to meet each other again as adults. At first Ji Hyo doesn’t recognize Bo Ra, but that is due to the fact that she’s nothing like the girl she remembers. From a skeptic, Bo Ra has turned to a passionate YouTuber who has dedicated her life to aliens, holding meetings with her fellow alien enthusiasts. Ji Hyo, on the other hand, has become the skeptic herself. The only thing she believes is hard science facts and aliens are e distant (and painful) topic for her. The present version of events follows their adventure to discovering the truth about what caused them to fall out, where is Ji Hyo’s (ex) boyfriend, and last but not least, are aliens real.
Now I’m going to talk about the show the way I experienced it. The two most accurate (to me) words I can use to describe it, are unsettling and fascinating. No more, no less.
The imagery of the show, the tone the show sets. That slight retro feel it gives off, so reminiscent but also so out of place, it makes you want to press the pause button just to stare into the void for a couple of minutes. Everyone around Ji Hyo is so mundane, everyone is so deaf to their own words, but yet Ji Hyo’s life is bizarre. It’s wrapped in a mystery that she ignores for the longest time, but you’re on the edge of your seat because you need her to go look for it. After her reunion with Bo Ra however, you start feeling the opposite. Like no one is in their right mind except Bo Ra. Bo Ra may come off as crazy and weird, but she’s just actually very honest with herself and everyone around her. But that’s exactly the thing you’ve needed, to get away from the depressing scenes (which I might add makes you depressed without you even realizing it, or is it just me). Everything these two do together is a mess, but it’s a beautiful mess that makes you relieved. I must admit, at the beginning I did think Ji Hyo’s character was a little bland, like you could swap her for any other “good-girl-main-role” heroine and it wouldn’t make a difference. That however is untrue and I do understand why the show wants you to feel like that up until a certain point. By the end of the show I was in love with both character (although I can’t help but favor Bo Ra a little more, she’s the coolest).
The psychological factor adds to it. Actually, I’d call it the main factor. Up until the very, very last episode you go back and forth between “Ókay, the aliens must be all in her head.” And “Okay, the aliens are real then.” I found myself changing my mind several times, and no matter which theory you go by, you won’t be wrong with either, but you also won’t be right. However, the development of the story is not unpredictable at all. In fact, if you’ve ever seen or heard anything about the cases of Jim Jones or Heaven’s Gate (and I do 100% believe this show was inspired by both), then you could most likely predict the ending of the show. However (again), I guarantee you, you will never be able to predict the feelings it will invoke in you and the way you’ll experience the story. Before I recommend it to you though, I should note that if you don’t know much about Korean culture, or if you haven’t seen a lot of kdrama, this show’s humor will probably be mostly incomprehensible to you. It could take away from some key moments where you’re prepared to shed tears and then it hits you with a ridiculous response to the emotional build. To me it was nearly perfect, it made me experience every emotion on the specter. I laughed, I cried, I was frustrated, annoyed, I was excited, happy. And then repeat.
Big SPOILER alert.
Something else I’d like to talk about is the relationship between Ji Hyo and Bo Ra. I know a lot of people who have and will watch this, will be writing fanfictions about them. But I think we saw the ending as it is on purpose. When the drama begins, we have Ji Hyo who feels so pressured by her (ex) boyfriend to finally move in together and eventually get married, that she actually gets drunk (she who must always be sober and in control) and breaks up with him. In my humblest opinion, I think that was something she never, ever wanted out of their relationship, but she didn’t know how to stop it because everyone expected it of her. I almost feel like that’s why she wanted to find him so badly after he got abducted. I’m not saying she didn’t love or care for him, rather I think she needed to find him, make sure he’s safe, so she could then end it with him and move on. As to not have any more regrets before beginning her new life. That’s also why she thanked him when he “broke up with her” at the end of the series. It was difficult for her to bring up after everything that happened, to be the one to say it twice. But that was his way of giving her the okay, you go live your life. And how this relates to Bo Ra exactly? Well, to begin with, Bo Ra was the first meaningful friendship (or so I’ve been led to assume by the show) Ji Hyo ever had. Or at least meaningful enough that it would break her heart when she thinks Bo Ra has betrayed her. The second point is, that when JI Hyo wraps up her past, the first thing she does is go to Bo Ra and ask her if she wants to live together. The very same thing that terrified her when her boyfriend brought it up. She’s now offering it, but to someone else. Obviously, she feels like it’s a big commitment, because it was before. As I said, I think we got that ending on purpose, so we could decide for ourselves. Whether they’re friends or something more, I’ve just accepted that they make each other the happiest and most complete. I don’t want to dwell on this because there haven’t been any other hints. For me personally, that last one was enough.
And to talk some more about Bo Ra, I think Nana did more than amazing in her role. I have no complaints towards anyone’s acting but Nana was really great. Her character was meant to stood out, but with it, her acting also stood out. It was just meant for her. I could probably make a separate post on Bo Ra alone, but that’s a bit obsessive so let’s not do that. Yet. Maybe after my rewatch. Because I can’t not rewatch this. I'm still pondering whether I want this show to have a second season or not, because I think it got the perfect ending and I don't need any more. But also I do. But also I know the experience I got the first time can't be recreated. I don't know. I'd rather just take this as it is and not risk a second season ruining it. Even if hypothetical second season was better, I still wouldn't wanna risk it. I think a continuation is not very likely anyways. But yeah, that's it for now.
(Mind you, I wrote this at like 5am after binge watching all night.)

God of War is still my favorite contemporary video game in terms of play style and story delivery, but did anyone else feel like Ragnarok was just Fimbulwinter DLC?
The actual in-game Ragnarok was literally just an on-rails Ghost of Tsuchima chapter-ending strategic fortress siege?? I think they probably initially did this to reconcile the fact that you can’t have an apocalypse that doesn’t actually affect the entire world, but “magic and myth are bound to their homelands” denied me of feeling any sort of stakes in the war? Kratos isn’t from here, the Fall of Olympus meant nothing to the Norse cannon, so why does this insular war affect me? Why did we make such a big deal connecting all the Gods of War through Tyr if the Celts and Egyptians and Japanese versions aren’t going to council at least in an inter-dimensional cut scene.
“THE PROPHECY!” you say? Nope. Sorry. We deus-ex-machina’d that plot-driver by letting giants literally retcon anything we feel like. Maybe if the giant’s prophecy was something clever like “you THOUGHT the Norse meant this, but if you look at it from a different camera angle using our Giant Magic you’ll notice this shattering detail!” Instead we got “here’s a ‘secret’ true ending that we just totally made up in contrast to the one you thought you saw. Except for the most important one— in that case we just say the giants can’t POSSIBLY bother to add secret retcons to EVERY shrine, silly!!!”
I also feel like we got ripped off from experiencing the in-world justifications for the stuff in IRL Norse mythology I was looking forward to the storytellers clarifying. Cool we figure out how Jormangandur is “born” of Loki, but the ouroboros notion of Ragnarok isn’t ever explained. They even joke during an end-game boat ride story: “How did that big snake recognize you?! Must be time travel or something?!?!?!?” Remember that boar from last game? Remember that squirrel runic companion? We forgot we kinda wanted to flesh them out so as long as we joke about the meta it’s cool to add them back.
Odin at first is so fascinating because his clever conniving villainy is just…….systemic capitalism. THATS a smart way to address his traditional anti-hero/noble-villain status in mythology. But if I slice Elon Musk in half with a hammer, an entire realm whose singular economy is based off exploitative industrial slave labor isn’t really free from the tyranny of their own societal structure. I guess in a sense, Kratos killing Zeus/Odin and destroying the realms of gods in both Olympus/Asgard helps explain our current non-magical, non-god-driven secular reality. But that’s not the theme or goal of these games, narratively. Ragnarok always felt inevitable, but never necessary.
Odin asks so many interesting ethical questions about the meaning of godhood SEPARATE from its impact on the life of a generic mortal. His answers to moral quandaries never felt manipulative or dark-sided: in fact I think he and Kratos always gave Atreus two sides of the same advice. However it felt like every time we jumped back to Kratos & Freya insisting on Odin’s villainy, the writers never gave them enough justification to counteract his sound logic. We start to touch on the question of “what toll does Machiavellian decision-making take on the psyche of a god, and how does the psyche handle when traditional morality is off the table?” Kratos is directly allowed to do MAJOR morally dubious things through a constant lens of protagonist favor. “Open your heart to their suffering” because Kratos Is Main Character so all destruction is sacrifice worth the cost. ODIN IS BADGUY BECAUSE WE NEED TO HAVE FINAL BOSS BATTLE!!!!!
Remember in the post-game of the original how Fimbulwinter reskinned the entire hub world in response to Ragnarok approaching? Well even though we make a BIG deal about how all realms have their own unique seasonal weather affectations, the END of Ragnarok doesn’t actually cosmetically affect any of the realms in the reverse direction after the final battle. There’s nothing new or interesting to see in any realm (even though this would have been the coolest way to motivate players to go back and explore) but hey you can FOLLOW THE PATH BACKWARDS AND OPEN ONE OR TWO MORE TREASURE CHESTS! Some of that ouroboros sci-fi logic would have been perfect here: pieces of Asgard blocking major pathways from the start of the game that were actually a result of the final battle. That mirror-logic already exists in other cool ways: Memir comments on how the stories of Jotenheim say the landscape is SO BEAUTIFUL, but that “legendary beauty” is really a fungal overgrowth of decaying bodies of (literal) giants. The Mother Forge is an underwater mermaid because “the essence of a thing isn’t the same as the reality of a thing.” That’s not a logic applied to the entirety of the world-building, only when it’s convenient.
When the game breaks off to solo Atreus play, I was pumped to experience how every single character was going to get unique play style. Instead they just all end up as reskins of Original Boy. This isn’t an insane issue, but it only ever felt like I was adventuring with Brok/Sindri/Freya because we wanted to have some sidebar dialogue, not because the gameplay necessitated new skills or unique puzzles.
When I played the original, there were moments that floored me artistically and changed the way I think about video games as a medium. I know some of my lofty expectations come from comparing this dev cycle to unhealthy industry practices of others. Yes GOW Ragnarok is a really really really clean and solid experience. But if we’re complaining that to Assassins Creed and franchises that push out “unfinished product only considered a finished AAA game once 3 DLC packs are released 3 years later,” then TBH Ragnarok is admittedly pretty anemic overall in comparison. Maybe I’m the issue with the industry, but there wasn’t really enough of a significant shift in scope, gameplay, or narrative/cinematics for me to think of this installment as anything but “a continuation of existing digital assets rearranged to wrap up a masterpiece that we didn’t feel like bloating into a trilogy.”
I think we’re going to get some extra gameplay out of Atreus. I do believe this is Santa Monica’s end with Kratos: I think Sony let them put him to bed. We’ll either get a third game in the “Valhalla series” that’s focused on Loki/Tyr (and will HOPEFULLY follow up on the non-Norse Gods of War & expanded locations hinted at in the 2018 game) for a true epic reboot a la 2018, OR they’ll poop out one more existing realm’s worth of DLC and give us 5 minutes of Faye as a Kratos re-skin DLC to wrap up this cycle.

No Fluff, How I Made $400,000 Betting on Sports Part-Time & Why I Write Software for Bettors
Hey, what's up, everyone? My name is Alex and I graduated from Stanford in mathematics and computer science. I'm a data guy, and I'm a software guy, but there are two things that I really love. The first is betting on sports and beating the sportsbooks, and the second one is pretty related, but it's writing software to help me bet on sports and beat the sportsbooks. I think about why I've always been so fascinated by sports.
Betting is unlike other forms of gambling like slots or roulette in sports betting. You can actually have a mathematical profit margin over the sports book and win in the long term, and that's what these articles are going to be about. We are going to talk about becoming more data-driven, more mathematical, and, most importantly, a more profitable sports bettor. So there won't be any fancy: graphics, no fluff, no bs, I'm not a movie producer, but I hope you read until the end of this article because we are going to talk about key concepts to making money in sports betting.
Now me personally, I have profited over four hundred thousand dollars since regulated sports betting came to the united states in 2018. I've never done it full-time and I would never even consider doing it full-time. In this video I'll try to weave in my experience, to share, show, and prove to you everything that I am saying now very briefly before we dive in.
I want to make it very clear: I'm not saying that sports betting in the US or Canada is easy because it's absolutely not. I have spent thousands of hours building models to help myself bet on sports writing software to identify lines, discrepancies, and profitable betting opportunities. It is not easy and sports betting is never going to be a game for the impatient.
Sportsbook Accounts
Tumblr media
You have to be fast, disciplined, and also mathematical, and that's what we're going to talk about, but before we dive in we can take a look very briefly at one of my sportsbook accounts This is how seriously I was betting! Here we can see an example of what one of my many many sportsbook accounts looks like. This is my DraftKings and there are nights between sportsbooks I've had over fifty thousand dollars in bets spread across.
There are 35 plus bets all on bets that are mathematically profitable, so you'll see wins and losses here. Nobody wins every time, it's all about finding odds in your favor so that you win in the long run right, it's kind of like investing. You won't win every day as a profitable better. You obviously won't win every bet, but over the course of the long run you will make money, and, for me, it's a pretty incredible feeling to have.
I have a mathematical profit margin in every bet that I place. I sit back and ultimately watch games and let the math work itself out to make me money. The last thing I'll say before we dive in is that, if you like this content, please like please subscribe. Please share. That's really the only way. I know that this content is actually valuable to other people.
Sports Betting Concept One: Financial Markets
This is the most important concept in sports betting and it is the realization that sports are a financial market. Just like the stock market. In case you need my background, I worked as a quantitative trader on wall street and I understand this may sound very weird to some people, but in sports betting it is not about sports, it is not about picking winners, it is about identifying inefficiencies and odds on the US and Canadian sports books. Taking advantage of them is the name of the game.
Now, when I say financial market, there are two important parts to that. The first is that sportsbook odds are not static. Second, they are determined by supply and demand, and things can move quickly. Just like the price of GameStop stock can go from 160 one minute to 200 the next minute. It's exactly the same. If Kevin Durant gets injured, maybe the Nets in tonight's game go from minus 200 odds to minus 120 odds in a matter of minutes. The Nets are less likely to win and that's reflected in the odds.
At the same time, maybe Kyrie Irving is expected to have the ball more in his over 30 points goes from -110 odds to -210 odds. Again, odds are constantly changing across bookmakers. As new information is absorbed into the market and bettors place, bets supply and demand.
That's concept one. Sports betting is a financial market, like all others, and this is really important to understand because, unlike other markets, the sports betting market is very inefficient.
Line Shopping
You have hundreds of bookmakers in this global ecosystem, largely setting odds independently firing a bunch of algorithms trying to balance supply and demand on both sides and update their odds, and this yields a lot of interesting inefficiencies which we can look at right here. Here's an example from OddsJam and just how crazy the sports betting market is.
Tumblr media
You have all these books running around trying to set their lines independently, so here we can see an example from the Yankees-Twins game tomorrow. The Twins, for example, are plus 180 on BetMGM, they're plus 215 on FoxBet. Could you ever imagine placing a bet plus 180 odds on BetMGM, if you knew you were getting plus 215 on FoxBet, it's absurd. Now, if you think these discrepancies and odds like the difference, even between plus 200 and plus 215, is small, then there is a massive massive flaw in your thinking. Sports betting is all about earning one percent to seven percent profit margins on a daily basis and watching those returns compound and compound and compound.
Just think about the stock market. People get rich investing in the stock market, which returns like eight percent per year on average. Imagine if you could earn three percent per day in sports. That is the goal: earning a three percent return on capital every day in sports betting and watching your returns compound and compound and compound.
Now, let me tell you that is never in your life going to happen if you're placing bets at plus 180 odds and plus 200 odds when there's another sports book in your location giving you plus 215 odds. These small differences or seemingly small differences in sports book odds in the line discrepancies add up to a lot of money in the long run, so this is kind of an example of what all these sports betting markets setting lines independently looks like in real-time. So, if you think about it, this difference in sports book odds is actually really fascinating and pretty mind-boggling!
It's not like I go to robin hood versus e-trade and I see a different price on apple stock. It doesn't really make sense, but in sports clicking one tab over from bar stool to BetMGM can really change your payout in a big way.
Why Do Sports Betting Market Inefficiencies Exist?
So a lot of people may be wondering well that doesn't make much sense. Why do all these sportsbooks have different odds? Why don't they just copy each other? The reason for that, because it's a great question, is all sports books largely want to be unique. They don't want the same odds as FanDuel. They don't want the same odds as BetMGM or Pinnacle.
We wouldn't need hundreds of sportsbooks in this global sports betting ecosystem if every single sportsbook had the exact same odds, it wouldn't make sense. These sports books largely want to be unique, set their own lines, have their own models, and do it themselves from a sports betting perspective. It works in favor of the books because you need multiple sportsbook accounts to be successful.
Tumblr media
This is called line shopping and it's browsing odds between different bookmakers and only placing bets at the best possible odds. You do not want to get ripped off by sportsbooks. You should never be placing a bet on BetMGM at plus 145 odds if you can go one tab over in your state and place that bet on DraftKings, at +160 odds, so line shopping is a very important concept in sports betting, and doing it ruthlessly adds up to a lot of money in the long run.
Don't get ripped off by the sportsbooks! Only take bets on sportsbooks that are offering you the best odds. There are around 50, plus regulated and offshore bookmakers in the US and Canada. You should have as many accounts as possible. It takes like two to three minutes to create an account. When I was actively really betting before I started OddsJam I had like 30 or 40 sportsbook accounts that I used such as Wynnbet PointsBet Caesars, DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM. The US has tons of them!
You never know when there's going to be a great opportunity with great odds on a particular book so having more books just increases the number of possible profitable betting opportunities that you can place. The more books, the merrier, in my opinion.
Sportsbook Sign-Up Bonus
The one thing we're not really going to talk about in this video, but it's worth mentioning, is a lot of these sportsbooks offer sign-up bonuses if you make an account with them.
They all do it and if you think about it, a lot of people think it's too good to be true. How are these sports books giving me a thousand dollars to sign up? When you think about it, they're in ruthless competition with a ton of commodity businesses, right? These are all commodity businesses, they're sports books. They accept the wagers DraftKings has to compete with FanDuel has to compete with PointsBet and they offer users like a thousand dollars, two thousand dollars, and free credits or some promotion to sign up!
Knowing how to do these sportsbook sign-up bonuses and promotions in a mathematically optimal way can actually lead you to a lot of money. I started betting in Pennsylvania, but then I went to New Jersey with a friend. I stayed in Hoboken and I calculated at that time that New Jersey sign-up bonuses if you knew how to do them right in a mathematically optimal way between Caesar's William Hill you could make $5,000 just from sign-up bonuses alone in New Jersey.
I would recommend checking out our article on sign-up bonuses. However, if you have questions you can also email us because this is one of the easiest ways to make money: sports betting.
Sportsbook Betting Limits
There's another reason that you are going to need multiple sportsbook accounts and that is limits.
Limits, my least favorite word. This is a question I get a lot from friends, and former colleagues I've worked with is well if you're a profitable sports bettor why can't you just bet bigger? In other words, if you have a three percent edge, you're betting, a thousand dollars and you're getting thirty dollars an expected return? Why can't you just start betting bigger?
The reason is because of limits in the business model of US and Canadian sportsbooks. I'll be the first to break it to you, you're never going to make a million dollars off of a US, regulated, or Canadian sports book, and the reason for that is limits. This is why sports betting is unscalable and honestly becoming a professional sports bettor is not lucrative and everybody who claims to be a professional sports bettor is really just starting a company to try to sell you something in sports betting.
The sky is realistically not the limit because of bookmaker limits. Now, when I say limit, all I mean is: if you start betting out on FanDuel, for example, when I started betting on FanDuel, I could place five thousand dollars per bet on basically anything.
If FanDuel determines that you are a winning bettor, a mathematically profitable bettor, that limit will slowly come down. Now I can barely bet more than 50 dollars on FanDuel and, on the other hand, if you're losing better, the sportsbook will take your limit up. So basically, you start out being able to bet a lot of money on all of these sportsbooks, but if these sportsbooks determine you are smart and mathematically profitable, these limits will slowly come down.
This is why you probably don't know anybody smart, who is a professional sports bettor, and why it's really an industry that attracts zero talent in technical people. It's solely because of limits regulated sports books are not in the business of taking people's money who are smart. They are in the business of limiting people who are smart and keeping around the losers. That's just how the industry works, and that also means, if you know, people who claim to be really great bettors but they're, not getting limited they're probably just not profitable.
Getting limited is oddly a sign of success. I'll be very clear here: limits are a function of profitability. I've run models to prove that. That's gotten me limited. I've obviously written software to identify line discrepancies that have gotten me limited. If you are making money, you will inevitably get limited and at the same time, if you think you're making money- and you aren't getting limited, you should track your bets and get your exact profit and loss. You probably aren't making money. I've personally been limited by almost 20 bookmakers at this point, which is pretty crazy, but again it's just part of the game.
This is just how the industry works. Sportsbooks are in the business of limiting winners and keeping around the losers um. This isn't meant to discourage anybody from betting on sports. Obviously, sports betting is really fun, especially if you're making money and it can still be lucrative. It's just to say that you're probably never gonna make four hundred thousand dollars three hundred thousand dollars off of one sports book, you're going to get limited well before that.
The goal is to make twenty thousand off of five ten or fifteen sports books. That is really your goal here. The power is in the number of sports books you have and again with this crazy wave of regulation and legalization in the US as well as Canada, there are a lot of different bookmakers. Do their signup bonuses! Take advantage of them and make as much money as you can. You will lose some accounts. Here we can see my FanDuel profit, 38 000, not terrible.
I can tell you this will never probably even pass 50 000 because I can barely even place a bet on the product anymore. The powers and the number of books. I have one final point I'll leave you with because it's kind of fun and kind of interesting.
Different states have different sportsbooks, for example, I'm in Virginia right now. So there's one bet I can bet on Wynn bet. If I'm in Pennsylvania, I can't. Long story short, you do not need to physically live in a state to bet on that state's sports books. I actually have spent some time traveling. When I've been in Nashville Tennessee I've created the sportsbook accounts, and done the signup promotions. samr thing in Vegas. So I highly recommend if you are traveling check if you're in a regulated location- and if you are, you can still bet on sports to at least take advantage of the signup bonuses and have some fun sports betting while you're there.
Sports Betting Hedge Fund
The point of sports betting is earning 2-3 percent returns on a daily basis and watching those returns compound and compound and compound. Now, what's really interesting is, if you think about all the different sportsbook accounts you could get in New Jersey, then, if you think about all the offshore bucks like Bovada and BetUS. Add up the total amount of odds on these sites at any given time, we are talking about millions and millions and millions of odds, and it's a lot.
These odds are always moving as we kind of talked about. So, in my opinion, at least, it's nearly impossible to find good bets manually. It's not going to happen. Odds are always changing and good lines don't last forever. Anybody who's made serious money sports betting will tell you: you need good software if you actually expect to profit in sports betting. That's why I initially built OddsJam! I wanted to make software to save myself time and make myself more money, of course.
At this point I've been limited by basically every sports book- it's not as useful for me, but hopefully for you. It can save you time and make you money. We process millions and millions of odds every single minute, powered by hundreds of hundreds of servers to show you some of the best betting opportunities as well as live odds from around the world.
It's a pretty powerful tool because there's no fluff and no bs. We just build tools based on real-time odds and what's better than building tools based on real market data? We also power a lot of companies in the industry through our real-time API of live odds. I encourage you to check it out!

Tattoos | The Four Lords HCs
Tumblr media
Headcanons
Lady Dimitrescu
I think she would be fascinated
She’s never seen a work of art such as yourself before
And really, she could stare at you all day
She’s ecstatic when mother miranda gifts you to her
She doesn’t show it, of course, she has a reputation to uphold
So she just smiles a wicked smile and brings you back to the castle
Now you
You’re like
vibin?
You’re not jazzed about what seems to be you inevitable doom, but like
What can you do?
So uh
It’s a huge surprise for you when, instead of devouring you, lady d just has you
Stand
And turn
She’s examining your tattoos, but she doesn’t tell you that
Eventually
She compliments you
And like
It sounds kind of weird
It’s more of a, “You’ll do nicely,” than it is a, “Ur hot” or even a, “i like ur tattoos”
But it’s fine
And like
With her eyes on you
Fixed with an intense stare on any part of your body that’s covered with ink
Whatever she says will be enough to make you blush
So, y’know, time passes
And she doesn’t kill you, so you start feeling safer around her
So you maybe explain what your tattoos mean, if they have meaning
And maybe
If y’all get a little closer
She could trace them
Or kiss them
She just really admires your tattoos ;)
Donna Beneviento
Ok, so
Because of the veil
And because of her generally reserved nature
Might not even see your tattoos until you’ve been in her house for months
Maybe longer
Once she does, though, she’s in love
She sees the art you’ve put on your skin
And it both reminds her of her own art- the dolls and their fashions
And makes her feel better about her own skin
She isn’t a mistake, she’s a blank canvas
She is potential, just like you
And maybe one day, if she ever leaves miranda’s domain
The two of you can get tattoos together
Salvatore Moreau
So
Moreau has tattoos of his own
But he doesn’t have as many
Or any tattoos that even come close to the art that covers your skin
So naturally
He’s very interested in that
He kinda wants to know where you got your tattoos
And Moreau is, out of all his siblings, the most interested in the meaning behind your ink
He would be the first, if not the only one of his siblings to ask about that
And he would be the only one who could return the favor and tell you about his tattoos
Anyway
Despite his familiarity with tattoos
Moreau, like his sisters, could stare at your tattoos all day
And he will, if you let him
Your tattoos are more entrancing than any cheesy romance movie could ever be
Karl Heisenberg
Gonna be honest here, i don’t think he would care until he knew you a little better
Like
The tattoos aren’t relevant to him
What’s relevant is 1) figuring out if you’re a spy, and 2) having you help him with his plans after he knows you aren’t a spy
Also
Like
He works with metal all day
And he can bend that shit with his mind
You can’t do that
So you have to use heat
Which means
Your tattoos are covered 90% of the time
So he rarely sees them anyway
But y’know
Time passes like the mischievous little bitch it is
And eventually, the two of you are more comfortable
And that is when he notices
“Hey, my assistant is covered in tattoos”
Like
One day you’re just walking by
Minding your damn business
And he just
Yoinks your arm like
“Huh. That’s new.”
Which, they are not
You’ve had them since before you started working for heisenberg
And i don’t think there’s a tattoo place in the village, so
You kind of just
“I’ve had these??? For the entire time you’ve known me???”
And he just
“Ok. Weird. Get back to work.”
So you do
And for you, things go back to normal- more or less
For heise, though
He can’t stop looking at your tattoos
He is entranced
Tattoos aren’t too weird for him, but like
It’s still pretty wild
He catches himself staring pretty often
And he always gives his head a shake, and tries to get back to work, but
You already know that doesn’t work
You also literally know that doesn’t work
You catch him staring more than once
You make fun of him for it
But like
With love

First of all, massive congrats on 3000 followers Lisa!! You deserve every single one 💗 I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read and re-read your works (it’s way too many times at this point LOL). You’re a fantastic writer and I always get super excited whenever you post :D
I was hoping to request a personalized drabble for your celebration ^^ This is for a female reader who, from first impressions, appears quite serious and put-together, but around those in her inner circle is also witty/sarcastic, bold (can be little on the blunt side lol), and talkative. She’s a fiercely loyal friend (though it takes some time for her to completely open up to others; easier to lose her trust than gain it 😬) who will always have your back. She enjoys traveling and reading and loves having conversations of all sorts (from deep to silly) with close friends. I was wondering if this drabble could be done in the Fantastic Beasts universe? I don’t know if you’ve written anything specifically for this part of the Harry Potter fandom, so if not, anything in the HP universe will suit my fancy just fine haha Thank you so much for all your lovely writings!!! Looking forward to all your future works 😘💗💗 (Also side note: ASKFHKS this got so long I’m sorry T-T)
i would LOVE to do more stuff for fantastic beasts, don't worry!! the vibes from those movies were so good

It’s a fine day for getting in trouble. Newt Scamander and Tina Goldstein walk through the crowded streets of New York, doing their best to not trip over uneven cobblestones. Newt squints over at Tina, one hand wrapped protectively around a battered suitcase that definitely does not contain a multitude of exotic magical beasts.
“Why are we here, again? We’re looking for a way to stay undercover, I didn’t think we’d be trotting around the city on a fun little jaunt.”
Tina smirks. “We’re not on a fun little jaunt, we’re here to find an old friend of mine. If you want someone to help you hide from the rest of the world, look no further than Y/N L/N.”
Newt frowns. “Y/N L/N?” The name sounds familiar, but he can’t place it immediately.
Tina nods, the look on her face almost reverent. “We went to school together. She’s quite possibly the most fascinating person I’ve ever met. It seems like she’s in a new place every week, and has probably traveled to a hundred different countries by now. She has contacts in high places all over. If we want to hide, we go to her. Easy.”
Newt stares. “Wait, I think I’ve heard of her. I had a few friends from Hogwarts who might have mentioned her once.” He blows out a low breath. “I didn’t think I’d actually get to meet her myself, she’s somewhat of an enigma in the wizarding world.”
Tina shrugs, although she’s still smiling. “And she’s right around the corner. Here we are now, actually. Just do me a favor and don’t trip over your own words, alright?”
Before Newt can argue that he would certainly never do such a thing, Tina’s knocking on a blank stretch of wall. Newt is used to detecting magical places, but he hadn’t picked up on a single thing here. A moment later, a section of the wall about the height and width of a door shimmers and turns into dark wood, with a brass doorknob turning to open up the whole thing.
A woman stands in the doorway, leaning against the frame. Her eyes flash from Tina to Newt, taking them in gravely. Her mouth is a thin slash like the cut of a dagger, her wand balanced between her fingers. Newt has the uncanny suspicion that this is someone to trust, someone who could drag him out of a sinking ship but throw him back down just as fast.
Y/N (for of course it is she, no one else could have such a presence) considers them for a moment longer, then breaks into a smile brighter than the sun just starting to poke through the clouds behind them. “I was wondering when you’d show up.”
She turns and heads back into her house, gesturing for them to follow. Tina and Newt exchange glances, and then retreat into the house. The door shuts behind them, and all Newt can think is that he might have embarked on the best part of his journey yet.

pspspsp can I just request an immortal reader who's life is just dull/sad as hell since they've seen their loved ones leave or die in front of them so many times
but when they meet SBI or anyone, their life just suddenly brightens up? (Platonic and it can be any type of fic!)
(A/N): I got waaaayy too carried away with this. Star god reader my beloved (also, I’d imagine that your cloak looks like this guy’s but on the inside with the outsides being any color of your choice (credit goes to original artist))
If you want more god!reader content with the dream smp, @wooloo-inc has a really good series about a male!nature god!reader (aka, the god of dilf collection)
In the beginning when DreamXD created you (which if you think about it, that makes him your father, but I digress) from stardust and meteorite shards, you were a ball of fun loving sunshine (well, starshine?)
You loved watching over all of humankind, admiring their determination and bonds with other humans (both romantic and platonic)
Your older brother, the god of the moon, told you about how they viewed you and you were amazed
“Oberon?” You ran up to your older brother and tugged on his cloak making him hum in question, not looking up from his parchment scroll. “What- what do the humans think of me?”
He scoffed and glanced at you with his lily white irises, “why are you on about them again? They are lowly creatures compared to us, filled with greed and misfortune.”
“They worship us and that’s how you speak of them?”
“(Y/n) believe me, you have not seen the brutality they are capable of. War, famine, greed, plague, genocide, it’s all something you have not witnessed before. You have only seen the good in those things.”
“But Oberon, I wanna-” he lightly smacked the side of your head, “use proper English. We are gods and you will behave as such.”
You huffed, “I want to know about how they view us! I do not care about the bad things they have done! Plleeeaaassseeeeeee Beri?” You willed the stars that constantly gleamed in your eyes to shine brighter as you fluttered your eyelashes at him. He may seem like he hated everyone and everything (especially his siblings), but he had a soft spot for his youngest sibling. He just stared at you for a bit before he sighed and shifted in the massive throne so that you could hop up onto his lap. With a wave of a slender pale hand, he conjured up various images of humans with stardust gazing at the stars and the moon with carefree swipes of his hand.
“They view us as… poetic of sorts. They compare us to romance,” an image of two human males kissing then gazing into the stars laying down on a cliff came into view, “fortune tellers,” an image of the Aquarius and the Capricorn constellations popped up making you squeal in happiness. He chucked and changed the picture to a mother and son standing over a grave looking up in amazement at a shooting star, “and most importantly, as a sign of hope.
“They see us as complementary, the moon and the stars cannot be as beautiful without the other. We hold the power of the night and everything it touches, (y/n). This is our kingdom, do not forget that,” the image changed to the moon surrounded by stars and swirling blues and purples of nebulas.
You looked at the images with awe, absorbing every word that fell from his mouth. “Beri?” He once again hummed, his deep baritone voice sending vibrations along your back. “Will we be together forever?”
His lanky arms wrapped around your much smaller frame, “for all of eternity. The moon is nothing without the night sky and all of the stars it holds.”
Centuries passed and your fascination with humans only grew from there
When you eventually asked if you could meet a human Oberon reacted angrily and forbade you from speaking of humans again in your shared palace, worried for your safety
When he caught you attempting to sneak out, he locked you in your room for months on end
Humans wondered why the stars hardly appeared in the night sky anymore, forming the theory that they had somehow angered you
They prayed to you more and more, begging and groveling for forgiveness
They left more offerings at shrines
You heard their every word, feeling your heartbreak with sorrow and guilt for your lovely humans
You snuck out of the palace that night determined to make it up to the humans
You quietly snuck past the main room where you and Oberon used to sit on your thrones together and control the night. The large doors were cracked open showing your older brother watching the night with boredom. As you passed, his voice startled you, “I just cannot stop you can I?”
He appeared in the doorframe looking at you emotionlessly, his eyes glinting with hidden pain. “Do you realize how cruel of a place that world is? How cruel humans are?”
“I do not care, brother! They are in anguish because they think I am angry with them! Because you locked me in here!”
“I have told you time and time again, they are ruthless creatures. Humans are constantly clashing with their own kind for the slightest bit of power, they’re greedy creatures! Have you forgotten what happened to Arachnia?”
A shiver went down your spine at the mention of your fellow deity. She wanted to be with humans but they stripped her of her grace and virtuosity, torturing her when the moon would rise. That is the reason spiders attack humans in the night when the moon and stars show themselves and are dormant in the daytime. However, that did not deter you.
“I have not forgotten what happened to Arachnia, her tale fills me with grief. But not all humans are like that! They are compassionate, loving, and sweet creatures deep down, each and every single one of them!
“They were not showing compassion or love when they tore Arachnia limb from limb! When they languish in riches while millions die around them! What part of that is compassionate?”
“Sure they do bad things sometimes, but have you forgotten the love they hold for each other? The determination and hope shining from within them when they pray to us? Have you forgotten that?”
“THEIR ACTIONS ARE NOT JUSTIFIED IN ANY WAY!”
“AND OURS ARE? YOU ARE BLIND, OBERON. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE CRUELTY THE GODS HAVE SUBJECTED HUMANS TO? WHEN OUR FATHER TOOK YEARS AWAY FROM THEIR LIFESPANS SOLELY BECAUSE THEY STOPPED WORSHIPPING HIM AS OFTEN AS THEY USED TO? WHAT PART OF THAT IS JUSTIFIED?”
He just stared at you with angry irises and his chest heaving before he ran a hand through his long ivory hair and turned around, the flowing white cape flowing wildly behind him with unseen air. He walked back into the observation room and back to his throne. Without a second glance to you, he worked on the transition of power between the sun and moon. You could imagine your sister Aelia grinning brightly as she rose the sun for the day.
“You are to never return here if you step foot out that door. You will still have control of your duties of the night. However you will never return. Do not come back groveling for forgiveness when I have given you constant warnings of their cruelty. If I see your face show up here, I will make sure father smites you down. Now get out of my sight.”
You huffed and whipped around to the front entrance, the stars that constantly twinkled and the nebulas that constantly swirled in the inside of your cloak illuminating the white floors below you as you ran. You left the palace without a second thought, leaving your old life behind in favor of spending it with the humans.
When you came crashing to the Earth in a shooting star, you were amazed by the beauty of it up close and in person
It was everything you expected and then some
You heard the humans cheering and thanking you in their prayers when the stars returned brighter than usual
You being completely enamoured by all of the humans, even if they recognized you or not you loved them all unconditionally
You set up a little cottage in the tundra where you could see the night sky clearly with the occasional aurora borealis
From the roof, you controlled the stars
The tales of you defecting from the heavens was a popular one, and you became somewhat of a symbol of the hope that humanity should hold for themselves and compassion
Occasionally sending shooting stars over humans you knew were stargazing
You have met many lovers, friends, and even your own adopted kids over the next millenia, all of them accepting your immortality and everlasting duties
But it’s all the same in the end: they come, they leave, and they die
With each death of your loved ones, you could feel your will to keep going dissipate
The stars grew dimmer gradually in the night sky
The humans gradually stopped worshipping you as you disappeared from the night skies
You became a distant memory for elders to tell children
Disappearing from the face of the Earth for a few centuries when you could not take the constant deaths any longer
Nobody knew where your cabin laid so you were undisturbed for centuries on end, left to your grief
That was until a knock sounded at your door
The knock startled you out of the comfort of your bed. Reluctantly, you left the warmth of the multitude of blankets and donned your cloak to hide your unkempt appearance. When you passed the mirror hanging in the hallway, you could see that your face was shrouded by darkness with the exception of a single glint where your eyes were caused by the lone star that was a constant reminder of your position. Before you fell into a deep depression, the stars would illuminate your entire face if you put your hood up.
You opened the front door without a care in the world. If the beings on the other side were humans that would take you away and torture you, you didn’t care. You’re long past the point of caring for your own well being.
On the other side was a man of average height and long shaggy blond hair pulled into a slick ponytail. He was dressed entirely in green with a green and white striped bucket hat placed on his head. Past you would’ve been cooing at the object, but now you dully looked at the man in front of you. You glanced behind him and your eyes widened at the huge black wings sprouting from his back. You know who he was the second your eye caught the black feathers; he was the Angel of Death.
“Hello, Angel of Death.”
He tried to peer into your shrouded features, only seeing two pinpricks of light where your eyes should be. He gave you a friendly smile, brushing off the snow that gathered on his shoulders. “(Y/n), the God of the Stars and the Night Sky. Giver of compassion to the human race, it’s an honor to meet you.”
“Why are you here? Last time I checked, my last lover died centuries ago.”
“Yes, my condolences. They were lovely when I guided their soul to the afterlife.”
“You still have not answered my question, Angel of Death. Why are you here?” You grit out the last sentence through a clenched jaw. He has no right to talk about them when he assisted in taking them away from you. Him and your cousin, the Goddess of Death Kristin. They took everybody you loved away from you. You knew that their deaths were unavoidable since they were human and you were immortal, but you still couldn’t help but resent them.
“The Goddess of Death sent me. The God of the Moon and the Goddess of the Sun sent her a request to send me to check on you.”
You stared at him for a few moments before you saw him shivering slightly and sighed. You always had a soft spot for humans, even if the being in front of you was not a human in the slightest. He reminded you of an old friend. You stepped aside and gestured lazily inside the house, “come in.”
He started to visit more and more over the next century
He eventually befriended you about half a century into the visits
It was extremely difficult to do because of how guarded you were, but he managed to break you out of your shell
You realizing how kind he was and how much he cared for you
You quickly came to the realization that he was immortal as well after reading up on the Angel of Death
After another fifty years, he became your best friend
You both opened up and comforted each other about everybody you both lost over the years
When he adopted Technoblade and then Wilbur not long after Techno, you were extremely hesitant to get close to them
Even going as far as telling Philza that you thought that it was an extremely bad idea
Mortals always end up leaving in the end anyways, it’s best to avoid the endless cycle of hurt that came with having mortals around
You told him about your own adopted children that have died over the years
You refuse to meet them, cutting off all communication with Philza for a year or two
Eventually meeting his three adopted kids when you reluctantly accept a dinner invitation one day
You attempted to appear cold and uncaring, but your love for humans (especially baby humans) shone through when an infant Tommy started to play with your cape
It seemed that the stars and the moving nebulas within the fabric entranced him
From then on whenever you visited Philza, you always held Tommy until he was too old for you to do so
Becoming very attached to the blond with your strong innate parental instincts
You introduce Techno to mythology, sharing stories of your personal interactions with certain gods and entities throughout the years
You teach Techno how to cope with the voices as you constantly hear multiple prayers to you from humans at the same time
You arrange a meeting for Wilbur with the Goddess of Music when he asks you about her
Arranging for her to start giving him lessons in exchange of a favor that will be cashed at a later date
You help raise all three of them, often taking them off Philza’s hands for a night or two
Their favorite activity with you is watching you raise the stars and turn the sky dark
They always loved to watch you move the stars and summon shooting stars for them
The stars gradually returned to your eyes and a constant ecstatic smile slowly became synonymous with your face again
Humans started to worship you again when the stars in the sky became brighter
You became your old self again after centuries of feeling lost
To repay them for everything they’ve done for you, you decided to rearrange the stars for one night
One night of having a different star pattern couldn’t hurt
Sure, it’d make a few theories pop up among the humans, but those are fun to overhear sometimes
The young boys and Philza behind you watched in awe as your eyes started to glow brightly and you slowly moved your hands gracefully raising the stars with the moon, your cloak starting to flow with nonexistent winds. They’ve seen you raise the stars thousands of times, but it never ceases to amaze them. It was just so… entrancing.
You broke into a slight sweat and started to move the stars from their original positions in the sky. Shaking slightly, you pushed back against the strain and slight pain that it brought you. You’ve never done this before, so you really didn’t know what you were expecting. You felt someone put a hand on your shoulder.
“What’re you doin, mate?”
“Uh Dad?”
“Not now Techno. Mate, are you alright?”
“Dad, look up. They’re rearranging the stars,” Wilbur breathed out.
You could hear Philza gasp slightly as he watched star after star move until they locked into place. There in the twinkling night sky was each of their names gleaming brightly in small lettering. When you were done, you fell into a kneel onto the ground and rubbed at your aching head panting lightly.
You could hear the boys around you panic slightly as you regained your breath. As you heard them approach you you looked up at them and smiled, the stars gleaming brightly in your irises. “Do you like it?”
“Y-yes but gods, (y/n) are you alright?”
“I am fine, but stars, I have never done that before. Are you four ready for stargazing?”
“That was so pog, (y/n)! How’d you do that?”
“I hold the power of the stars and the night sky in my hands. My brother once told me that the night is our kingdom.” You laid down onto the grass and took off your cloak to cover up a shivering Tommy and Wilbur next to you. You sighed as you thought about your siblings; you wondered how they were doing.
“I will gladly move the stars themselves for you four. You are my family.” There was a stretched out moment of comfortable silence as you five watched shooting stars blaze by. Eventually, you saw an aurora borealis materialize above you. Furrowing your brow, you looked at it in question. They don’t appear this time of year, so why-
“Aelia,” you breathed out as you watched the greens flow above you. She must’ve sent a gust of solar wind your way.
“Isn’t Aelia the Goddess of the Sun?” Wilbur asked you.
“Yes, she is my oldest sister. She must have redirected the solar winds over here.”
“Damn, what’s with the gods changing everything tonight? You guys need to fuckin chill.”
“Tommy!” Philza scolded and was about to continue before he heard you start to laugh. They’ve only heard you genuinely laugh only a couple of times, so the sound that left your mouth immediately brightened the mood.
“Yes Tommy, I suppose we do need to ‘fucking chill’.”
“You swore! Fuckin pog,” Tommy cheered to himself as the others looked at you in slight shock at your words. If you’re being completely honest in all of the years you spent alive (which is since basically the beginning of time), you’ve never sworn once. You were raised differently than that. When you realized that the others were staring at you, you smirked at them. The stars twinkling and giving your eyes even more of a mischievous glint, “what? Have you never heard a god swear before?”

More undateables with a demigod hades mc???
By request, have yourself a part two!!
Demigod MC Series: Hades Pt. 2 (Un)Dateables Edition!
I will ask that y’all please don't ask for continuations of other gods unless I say it’s okay to do again. This series already fills my inbox something fierce and this is a one-off that I allowed for during the request window.  If I have to make ideas for new gods while continuing a bunch of old MCs, it'll burn me out fast...
Demigod MC Series: Intro, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hades, Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Hades Pt. 2
Diavolo
Oh, he has no problem at all hosting a child of the Underworld, hell he even throws them a welcome banquet when he finds out! Hades is a dear friend - and practically a parental figure to him growing up - so he's more than happy to take in one of his children for a year.
Diavolo is actually one of the few people that the MC can talk to about their home with any kind of fondness. Usually when they bring up things like the comforting wailing of the River Coctyus, the brothers will give them weird looks... but Diavolo knows where they're coming from!
He spent numerous summers in the Underworld growing up doing things like pestering Charon on the River Styx or playing games with Cerberus (the other one) in the Asphodel Meadows... His beach house is actually modeled after his childhood summer home in the Isles of Paradise! Really, it can be a lovely place if the gloom doesn't bother you!
So in the spirit of his fond memories, Diavolo really tried to make their time in the Devildom a fun one!... in his maybe trying a little too hard way…
Poor MC found themselves offered pretty much everything under the moon… Tickets or exclusive passes to different cultural events/festivals, invitations to gala events, and tours of nearly every inch of Hell by the Prince himself - it was… it was a lot for the poor introverted thing…
It didn’t help that Diavolo would have a hard time gauging if they were having any fun due to their naturally melancholic nature, which only pushed him to try harder… He means well, he does. He’s just not the most in touch with what would make an anti-social doom child happy...
It took Barbatos and Lucifer stepping in for the mortal to actually start getting some much needed space and that improved their experience significantly. Sometimes less is more, Dia… Less is more. But they appreciate his efforts anyway.
Barbatos
Also has a pretty amicable relationship with the Ruler of the Underworld, though his is much more professional compared to Diavolo’s. He actually has a good deal of appreciation for the man for taking good care of the Prince during his visits, so he sees this as an opportunity to return the favor.
Like Diavolo, he’s rather focused on making sure the MC is having a good stay in the Devildom, but he’s much more subtle about it. He’ll come by the House often to check up on them and make sure everything is to their liking...
Even the brothers notice that he treats them like anothering visiting Lord/Lady in that way, which he would argue they very much are and should be respected as one. It’s the least the Devildom can offer their father at this point.
His visits may also be an excuse for keeping an eye on the brothers to make sure they don’t do anything to inconvenience their “young guest…” To be honest, the entire House is a little paranoid about that… Nobody wants to know the punishment for hurting MC if Barbs is the one dishing it out...
Apart from watching out for them, Barbatos tries to encourage the MC to accept the Young Lord’s gifts (while also actively advising Diavolo to go easier on them at the same time). It would be so disheartening to him if his Prince feels like he hasn’t offered them the best experience that he could… He’s sure they understand.
Any time that he invites the MC to tea, they usually end up talking about their father in some way. Barbs knows a surprising amount about the god… He’s been around about as long as Chronos - preceding the birth of Aether and Chaos themselves - so he has some stories to tell.
The MC did once ask him why he doesn’t just run everything if he’s really been around for so long... his answer was: “Kings and their kingdoms will rise and fall… Worlds upon worlds are born, then cease to be. But time is what brings about all changes… So, I think I’m perfectly content with the power I possess. Wouldn’t you be?”
Annnd they never asked Barbs another question like that again… and people think death is scary…
Simeon
He was honestly a little worried for their new companion for quite a while… It’s not like there’s never any sadness in the Celestial Realm or anything, but they seem to have something else entirely…
He’s heard stories about the Underworld. He’s never been himself, that’s usually a job for the Seraphim due to the… dreary nature of the place - but he’s heard it would make the Devildom look downright festive…
If he were being honest, he had half expected the MC to be obsessed with skeletons, ghosts, and other elements of darkness but that wasn’t the case. They certainly knew a lot about those things, but they appeared to have a healthy interest in the afterlife in general, so they asked him a lot of questions about the Celestial Realm, angels, and how the souls of the blessed are treated up there… It was surprising to say the least.
Of course he did the same and, frankly, Simeon found it incredibly wasteful that so many Greek followers find themselves just wasting away in a field of nothing for so long… but that’s neither here nor there.
He was also surprised by how gentle of an influence the MC ended up being on Luke as well. He had always suspected that the little angel just needed a bridge between him and Devildom to start finding appreciation for it, and the MC fit that bill perfectly - nothing he was used to, but still approachable enough to make everything less frightening. He thanks them a great deal for that… but...
It’s just that… Well they’re just so… depressing sometimes…! He doesn’t want to blame them because it hardly seems like their fault! They’re a very kind person, it’s just an atmosphere around them… It brings him to tears if he isn’t careful…
He’s invited the MC to Purgatory Hall on multiple occasions to chat and try to make them smile… When they do, the gloom is dispelled - even just a little - and they’re a truly beautiful creature regardless. It’s just so unfortunate that their life brings so much sadness...
Even so, he actually likes the MC enough to consider basing a character on them if he ever wrote another book. Something about a gloomy but sweet protagonist at home in a world of darkness sounds appealing… doesn’t it?
Luke
He didn’t know how to feel about the MC when they met. At first, he actually thought they were just as unhappy as he was to be there due to how depressed they looked but when they told him that wasn't true, he was really confused...
The Devildom is a dark, brutish, and dangerous place. Why would anyone feel at home down here??
But… well… He would spend time with them at RAD between breaks (partially to help scare off their many, many demonic suitors) and it might be weird to say, but they really made the Devildom look beautiful… literally.
The world just looks better when they’re around! It’s really hard to describe because it’s not something you notice much until they leave, but when the MC is around everything looks more vibrant and inviting! The grass gets greener, flowers grow bigger, and butterflies/birds hover around wherever they are like they have their own gravity - the realm loves them!
It started getting hard for Luke to hang onto his disdain for the place when they made it look so appealing… And then they started talking to him about the Underworld and the creatures they’d befriended there… creatures a lot worse than any demons he’d seen there...
Like. If the MC can be good friends with a bunch of rude walking corpses, then he could probably make friends with a demon right? There’s nice ones… kind of…
Beel. He can make friends with Beel.
Like Simeon, he does feel bad that they seem so sad all the time… but unlike the older angel, he’s a bit more understanding that this is just how they are and enjoys his time with them regardless. (It helps a lot that just being around this little bean of a boy can lift their spirits anyway).
And you know what’s even better for him? When Lord Diavolo gives the MC tickets to things that they don’t want to go to, sometimes they’ll invite him along or give them to him instead!
He’s gone to the Devil’s Coast with MC and Simeon sooo many times by now and he loves it!! Maybe the Devildom isn’t so bad after all, I mean, it can be a lot of fun when you go to the right places, anyway.
Solomon
Oh, he finds them both deeply fascinating and utterly terrifying - so just his sort of test sub-er, person!
He kids (somewhat), Solomon isn’t that dumb/lacking in self-preservation instinct. Experimenting on a child of death in a land of the dead (even if it’s not their “home turf”) would be asking for trouble. They’d have more than enough ammunition to fight him off and if their father found out? Immortality wouldn’t even begin to save him...
That being said, questions aren’t necessarily experiments… and oh boy, does he have a lot of them.
If the MC isn’t being pestered by Diavolo or the brothers, then they’re probably having to put up with Solomon nipping at their heels trying to get them to use their powers or answer all sorts of “innocent” scientific questions…
“MC, reanimation of Greek dead requires a blood offering, correct? Do you have to sacrifice animals for that process or do you allow them to feast on your own?”
“MC, when you’re controlling a skeleton do you move the body as a whole or do you have to animate each individual bone due to their lack of ligaments?”
“Think fast!! Oh look, you just caught the skull of my good friend, Richard! Could you bring him back from that, or should I fetch the rest of him?” 🙂
They put up with it because, believe it or not, he’s not nearly the weirdest person they’ve ever met (a lot of crazy people drift in and out of the land of the dead…) and well… they’re a pretty lonely person too so it’s not like they have a lot of standards when it comes to friendships anyway.
But the second they breathe a word of this to Barbs or Diavolo, this boy is on his way to a royal restraining order… Where does he even get those skulls…?
