So, all the way back in May of 2024--still pretty early on in my FFVI obsession--I went ahead and drew this, and since it's almost been a year since I first started making art for FFVI, I redrew it, which you see here now. :) Honestly it's absolutely insane to me how much I've improved in only 9 months and I don't even have words for it 😭?? just a heads up: @h50europe has their asks turned off + replies turned off while reposting other peoples' gifs with that shitty af "credit to the owner" bs in the caption with no link or mention of the gifmakers. i don't make gifs but i fucking HATE this behaviour, the idea that somehow those are the magic fucking words to get away with theft and laziness in a fandom space where attribution is everything especially with the decline in people reblogging fanworks not just scrolling and maybe liking - we don't need to add reposted fanworks to the shitfuck that is tumblr these days. use the gif library ffs or at the very least link the og post you took those gifs from and mention the gifmaker, or else make your own fucking gifs.

Ok so I’ve debated for a while how to handle ~advertising for shop drops~ on tumblr because tumblr posts have actual longevity, and I just don’t really like the aesthetic of sticking a “will be available on [date at x time]” caption on posts that keep circulating months/years afterward. but I kinda gotta because I need to make money and all that. so maybe a solution is to post as I would without any advertising in the original post, and then stick a reblog with the ad part onto it, so in the future people can just go back and only RB the non-advertisey post if they want?? but then it does help if my shop link is always attached to the OG post because it helps get eyes on the shop

wait, can I ask what’s the issue with adding captions to a reblog? I don’t know if this includes when people post tags in the body of the post itself, but I had no idea that any of this would peeve some people.

for gifsets specifically it's annoying as hell and most gifmakers i know will instablock anyone for it. if you have something to say leave it in the tags, if you have more to say, make your own post and if you really need the visual aid then tumblr has an built-in function to link gifs to your posts.

but people reblogging with either "this show is so funny" that could've so easily been put into the tags or adding the episode number and title and such when it's already in the og caption

...or leaving an entire journal entry about how they had a traumatic experience but managed to get through the scene above (happened too many times to count) is just plain annoying.

it's like going to a photo gallery and putting sticky notes on the pictures.

Or including the handle for their bsky/twitter/tumblr, (1/2 point for the attempt) but not actually hyperlinking the OG post or account.

Someone spent hours creating that, and they deserve the credit for it, not for you to use their art as a way to boost your own reblog count.

Link to their profile or the specific post in your caption.

Oh, and if in your searching you find their profile & it says “do not repost” then DON’T REPOST IT

All this seems like common sense but idk bc I’ve seen an atrocious lack of etiquette in the fandoms
