What are you wearing right now?
Why, I am glad you ask, dear! The dress is the 'Lima Mini Dress' from Samantha Oglive, the heels are the 'Balletcore Pumps' from BerryQ Minuet, and the bag is just a tote bag which I added a pearl necklace onto. *twirls* A cute enough outfit for someone who cannot see properly, I hope.

“At its core, direct observation is about stepping into the user’s “native habitat” and capturing the full context, without interpretation and judgment…The goal is not statistical certainty but the cultivation of new hypotheses that can be explored later.”
- Liedtka, Oglive, & Brozenske. (2014). The Designing for Growth Field Book: A Step-By-Step Project Guide. New York: Columbia University Press.
As part of my ethnography research in a project about gym tidiness, I observed several gym members during their workouts.
One observation I made was that younger members tended to spend a lot of time in between sets on their phones. I pushed aside the knee-jerk judgments that seemed to bubble up by distracting my mind with new hypotheses to test. For example, if the gym turned off its wifi, would gym members stop using their phone, would they decide to workout somewhere else, or would they find something else on their phone to look at?
Three other direct observation tips from the book mentioned above include:
“Observe physical space.” - Often, we have to train ourselves to call out what our minds naturally just sense. For example, the temperature, the smell, the volume of any music, the acoustics, the color and mood of the light. All these can affect how people interact (or don’t interact).
“Observe non-verbal behaviors.” - Don’t just jot down what people do. Learn to read body-language. Are they relaxed or stiff? Are they smiling? Are they making eye-contact? Are they crossing their arms?
“Just the facts. Avoid judgment and interpretation at all costs. An observation is: The two women are facing each other and laughing. An interpretation is: The two women are friends or one woman just said something funny.” - I left this quote in full because it’s perfect.

To be fair Maurice was an off the cuff gag from an early Mike Gallergher story ("Danger is my Middle Name. Well actually it's maurice but don't tell anybody"), all penders did was make a weird deal out of it and came up with Oglive (which is admittedly 2/3rds of the situation and oglive is much weirder than maurice)
Fair enough, I actually forgot about the Maurice part not being Penders. Oglive or Olgilvie is still fucking stupid though. I don’t get that man

George Olive /October

Book Blurb: Last summer, Alice Ogilve’s basketball-star boyfriend Steve dumped her. Then she disappeared for five days. Where she went and what happened to her is the biggest mystery in Castle Cove, because she’s not talking. Or it was, at least. But now, another one of Steve’s girlfriends has vanished: Brooke Donovan, Alice’s ex–best friend. And it doesn’t look like Brooke will be coming back. . . Enter Iris Adams, Alice’s tutor. Iris has her own reasons for wanting to disappear, though unlike Alice, she doesn’t have the money or the means. That could be changed by the hefty reward Brooke’s grandmother is offering to anyone who can share information about her granddaughter’s whereabouts. The police are convinced Steve is the culprit, but Alice isn’t so sure, and with Iris on her side, she just might be able to prove her theory. In order to get the reward and prove Steve’s innocence, they need to figure out who killed Brooke Donovan. And luckily Alice has exactly what they need—the complete works of Agatha Christie. If there’s anyone that can teach the girls how to solve a mystery it’s the master herself. But the town of Castle Cove holds many secrets, and Alice and Iris have no idea how much danger they're about to walk into.
Review:
A Agatha Christie mystery aways as two girls who could not be more opposite come together to solve a mystery. Last summer Alice Oglive’s basketball-star boyfriend Steve dumped her and in turn she disappeared for five days... her disappearance became the biggest mystery in Castle Cove because when she comes back she doesn’t talk about it and now everyone wants to know why, where, what , and so forth. But the real kicker is that Alice’s boyfriend dumped her for her best friend... and on the night of Halloween at a party Alice and her ex get into a fight and the next day her ex best friend is missing and soon found dead. (This is as if it was straight out of Death on the Nile, and I love it) Steve is arrested and now Alice is determined to find out who killed her ex best friend and to even save her ex from jail. Enter Iris Adams, Alice’s tutor. Iris needs money fast, she needs enough to save her and her mother from the abuse they suffer at home and when the missing girl’s grandmother offers up reward money it’s the perfect opportunity. Alice and Iris soon find themselves bonding over this mystery and over their interest in detective work and in Agatha Christie. Alice and Iris couldn’t be more different, Alice is from money, she’s rich but her parents are never home and all she has to look after her is a housekeeper while Iris is poor and just trying to get out of a bad family situation but her mother loves her. They find that they both do enjoy trying to solve mysterious and soon the game is afoot and the evidence is gathered as they go through their list of suspects and try and narrow down who truly killed Alice’s ex best friend. In the town of Castle Cove there are secrets, liars, and cover ups... and these two will have to work together to get to the bottom of it before its too late. This was an absolute fun read! I adore Agatha Christie and this was right up my alley!!!
*I received an arc in exchange for an honest review: thank you Delacorte Press*

Keith Hill takes charge at Bolton after another five-goal thumping for League One side
Keith Hill takes charge of Bolton after another five-goal crash for the youth of League One in Gillingham
Bolton has former Rochdale and Barnsley manager Keith Hill
appointed
The new boss arrives after the club's survival after liquidation this week
The north-west side again shipped five goals on Saturday
By Marc Iles For The Mail On Sunday
Published: 21:24 BST, August 31, 2019 | Updated: 21:24 BST, August 31, 2019
Bolton was quickly rescued by appointment Keith Hill as their new manager. Hill, who was born in Bolton, was previously managed by Rochdale and Barnsley and will be assisted by former Mansfield and Swindon manager David Flitcroft.
Bolton was rescued from liquidation on Wednesday when Football Ventures (Whites) Limited took over control of the club's acquisition of £ 17.4 million. Phil Parkinson resigned last week as a manager in the midst of the unrest at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Jimmy Phillips was in charge of yesterday's 5-0 defeat in Gillingham, but Hill said: “It is an absolute privilege to become the manager of such a big club. David and I are extremely grateful for the opportunity to manage our home club. & # 39;
] Keith Hill has been nominated for Bolton's new manager after the club's defeat in Gillingham
Bolton started the campaign with a 12 point deduction after administration and had to fill young team players this season. Hill added: "My first task is to recruit a number of players before Monday's deadline. The young boys have done very well and have worn their hearts on their sleeves, and we do not want to replace them, but they need help. & # 39;
The Football Ventures consortium was in Priestfield's director for the first time yesterday, and they must have realized that they must face a tough battle to prevent relegation.
Gillingham had not won in his last nine games, but earned the win for manager Steve Evans, his first in the Priestfield dugout. Connor Oglive encountered a defensive error to open the score 27 minutes before Olly Lee, on loan from Hearts on the eve of the game, went into half-time to double the advantage.
Brandon Hanlan struck a third up close and Lee scored his second of the game before the miserable day of young Jordan Boon's defense was aggravated with an own goal.
Northwest side shipped five goals at Gillingham, the recent financial struggle continued
Jack Hobbs, who was signed on the eve of the game, had a late header against the woodwork that could put an end to Bolton & # 39; s club record 10-game waiting for a goal. It is the fourth consecutive match in which they have awarded five goals.
But caregiver Phillips is convinced that they can avoid relegation. It may sound romantic, but I think we can fight, & he said.
Gansham & # 39; s new boss Evans enjoyed this convincing result, but his first thoughts were for the besieged Bolton. "The big win today was that Bolton Wanderers Football Club appeared in the team coach," he said.

“Ethnography is the study of human cultures. For innovation and growth teams, this means studying users in ways that capture the full context of their experience, including behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, and cultural meaning.”
- Liedtka, Oglive, & Brozenske. (2014). The Designing for Growth Field Book: A Step-By-Step Project Guide. New York: Columbia University Press.
Recently, while working on a project to find ways to get gym members to tidy up after themselves, I returned to my notes from my Design Thinking class. The purpose of ethnographic interview is not to collect a large set of datapoints to find trends.
Instead, identify a small number of customers (about a dozen) that represent various demographics, and dig deep to uncover their values, beliefs, and motivations.
Three tips for the interview process include:
“Orient, but don’t prime.” - be careful to not “lead the witness”. That is, make sure you approach the interview and each question without giving the notion of what you hope to find.
“Walk backward, then forward.” - Respondents will often tell you what happened. It is the interviewer’s job to uncover the cause and effect of the action.
“Ask attitudinal questions last.” - Asking interviewees about their feelings on a subject may taint the rest of their answers. Best to hold these sort of questions until the end.
