the puzzles in this chapter were genuinely really impressive! i especially loved the word search puzzles and the ice-ee undertale word search reference💙

SPEAKING OF NOELLE!! the scene where she and kris are walking through the puzzle, the one that spells "december", and she's talking about when they were kids, how she loved sneaking out? beautiful. the cinnamon tography <3 also i guessed dess's full name was december a while ago and while i guess it was obvious, it's nice to have that confirmed!

also, i love that susie and ralsei are real friends in this chapter! he taught her a healing spell!!

1. I love the little detail that you added of matching pajamas because that’s exactly how their game nights go a majority of the time. Yes to all of these, Bobby is the one who flipped a table once during Pictionary and since then the game has been banned. (Also points if Alex did the same during Cluedo because Reggie just kept on saying that he was suspicious) ‘Reggie we are not playing about us, it’s a mystery game with clues’

(Also bring me up suspicious, I remember reading some thing about where the boys play among us and that’s all I can think about. Because they do and the boys just keep calling each other out, i’m not going on a tangent right now but I may in the future 😂)

2. Yes, (eventually) in the end everyone has a couples jumper as well. Also The fact that Luke stretches Alex‘s hoodie is hilarious, especially because he was doing it to make Julie jealous basically. Also adding on, Willie and Alex are cuddling under a blanket during this whole thing.

3. Yes, Luke just wants to make Julie happy in life and that’s everything to be honest.

Yes, and the boys know that Bobby went on the logflume however they just don’t talk about it. I cannot describe that ride either however I know exactly what you’re talking about and Alex being impatient to go on rides is legitimately everyone who has ever been in a theme park. Toffee nut- I’m glad you like the theory because I legitimately have no explanation for why Bobby is allergic to gluten but it just fits. Alex loves baking gluten-free stuff because not only is he reassured that Bobby has some thing that he can eat but in general it’s always nice to find new recipes.

Also random thought but every once in a while the boys will go somewhere go to bakeries and if they have gluten-free options they will try whatever they can.

Luke is very well practiced at egging houses, anyone who has ever made fun of the boys can confirm, and he is very torn between I want Flynn to like me but this is Julie’s house. Also yes, in the end he does egg her house.

Hear me out, she would’ve won mother of the year for being supportive towards Alex however I don’t feel like she would’ve for Luke because it didn’t really feel like she was supportive of the band which is basically Luke’s entire being. But aside from that yes. (But it got us unsaid Emily so I mean is that really a flaw 😂)

21. Yes, adding onto what you said honestly one thing that I keep thinking about which is the only thing he’s never told Luke is that he actually saw Emily and Mitch one time after Luke ran away.

(Reggie also has Nick’s baby photos. Reggie has literally everyone’s baby photos.)

3. Favourite thing to write? Well, I’m not sure. Mostly I just like found family type stories, or elaborate nonsense. (As you may have noticed, all my stories are nonsensical bs lmaooo).

6. Where do you usually find inspiration? My bed, or the shower, inconvenient times. Sometimes it will be music, or a weird what-if. But you can blame the lovely @grezzirossi for a lot of my fics, as they tend to come out of weird conversations and headcanon building we do in chat. 7.  Do you listen to music to help you write? Sometimes. I mean, sometimes you need a certain kind of music to help you think. Sometimes you need the background noise of youtube etc.

Not sure if it counts but like, in grade 2 I wrote a harry potter fanfic with no idea of what fanfic was. Just a creative writing/short story thing, which apparently meant ‘me and best friend at time meet harry potter and fight vampires, and save people from vampires then go to hogwarts’.  Also wrote a version of ‘the chicken who made bread’ that was like, ‘the pale blue unicorn made barley sugars’ in the same grade.

But proper fanfic? I can’t recall the exact moment... but it also involved harry potter and fanfiction.net. And I would rather die than relieve that terrible mess. Gods I thought I was SO GOOD and now it’s so YIKES. Lmao.

30.  What would you say it’s the most “famous” fic you’ve ever written? Not sure... I don’t think any are really that well known?

34.  What’s your favorite font to use when writing? The default. It legit never occurred to me to change it.

35.  Which do you prefer to write: longer or shorter fics? I tend to aim for shorter and always get longer. I aim for longer, and never finish them because I am a disaster of a human being.

a) write it in one sitting; b) re-read it a million times and occasionally type an extra word; c) have a lovely friend telling you that You Can Do It! or d) despair at being a lazy bitch with no time... ugh

43.  Have you ever cried or felt any emotion while reading something you wrote? Yes. Also occasionally blindside myself with dumb jokes i’ve hidden in the fics. AS if my brain erased their existence after I typed them out, so it’s Always Fucking Funny when I read them.

That it can hold shitty canon at knifepoint and demand a better ending. That there is no real limit to the whole thing... you want to rewrite Lord of hte Rings in space? Fucking GO FOR IT. 

47.  What’s your favorite thing about writing? It feels like painting with words? Just getting lost in the story in your head, realising character A was holding a sandwich three paragraphs ago and now its a gun so you have to swear and find a part to slide in where they switched it, etc. lmao.

People who are like Super Into inc*st, p*doph*lia and r*pe fics, but get defensive when people are like The fUck? Or people who ship REal Life Actual People, and get weird, or even frightening about the whole “Well these two actual human beings MUST be together so I will send death threats to their real life partners” thing. 

Also what the FUCK was with the wattpad fic phase where everyone’s mothers were selling them to 1Direction. Lmaoooo.

51.  Least favorite trope? Violently out of character fics. Where it’s straight up, ‘author has removed their personalities and added in generic uke/seme personalities from like 2009 or some shit’. And everyone’s acting super weird. (M/m and f/f/ and m/f fics alike). 

Very frustrating. Just... learn about the character, use it, it makes things way more fun to write and read. 

Also A/B/O. It’s weird, lads. I love Teen Wolf but some of you got WEIRD Weird.

I get stressed that it’s never good enough. Sometimes, yeah; mostly nah.

As you approached the studio and faced the inevitably of seeing him walking towards you from the opposite end of the quiet street, you rolled your eyes and sped up your pace slightly. You didn’t fail to notice his similar reaction, how he shook his head and pulled out his phone to ignore you with. You pursed your lips slightly, where did he get off ignoring you?

You both reached your studios at the same time, much to your displeasure and his mild amusement. You gave him a small nod and turned your attention to unlocking your door.

The jingle coming from your pocket made you internally sigh. You pulled out the phone and took a step back from the door, barely processing how Namjoon looked up at you, or the devious grin that spread across his face. As you opened your mouth to reply to your mother’s rambling about the latest neighbor who had annoyed her, a loud blaring of swear words drowned out whatever you planning to say.

Your head whipped around to look at Namjoon, who was simply smirking and taking his sweet time to unlock his studio door as some obnoxious rap song screamed from his phone. Your eyes bore daggers into his back as your attention turned back to the phone.

“Mom! I have to go, I’m sorry! No, that’s some annoying punk kid who doesn’t know how to be respectf-Yes, mom, I know. Yes, mo-Yeah. Love you too. Buh-bye.”

Namjoon paused his music after you hung up and entered his studio, whistling casually as he did. Your hand blocked the door as he swung it shut, and your other hand grabbing his wrist and pulling him back.

“What the hell was that? How rude can you be?” You asked. Namjoon took in your stance, your raised shoulders and eyebrows, your clenched jaw, how your feet were spread, and laughed.

“That one really got you riled up, huh?”

You smacked his shoulder.

“Don’t be such an asshole!”

“Maybe you should try the same thing.”

You two stood, staring into each other’s eyes, until you huffed and turned back to your studio.

Entering your studio, you slammed the door shut and threw your bag on the floor, much to the alarm of Chaeyoung.

“What’s your damage?” She asked, watching as you sat next to her and angrily began sliding on your dancing shoes.

“Kim freaking Namjoon.”

She sighed loudly, returning to her stretching. “He’s really not a bad guy, you know.”

“Tell that to me when he didn’t interrupt my phone call with some dumb rap song!”

“You’ve been a jerk to him too.”

You rolled your eyes. “Don’t tell me you’re going to start defending him all because of Hoseok?”

“Not because of Hoseok. It’s because I took the time to get to know him before making judgments.” She stood up. “I also didn’t call his job dumb.”

“Neither did I!”

“What words did you use instead?”

You focused your attention on your shoes, ignoring the way Chaeyoung’s eyes dug into you, looking for any hint of remorse over what you said to the rapper.

“I said the rap industry had no creativity, was soulless, and no one worth anything would ever call it a career.”

Chaeyoung shook her head. “Sometimes I wonder if God simply forgot to put the filter on your mouth before sending you to us.”

You continued looking at the floor as you moved onto stretching.

“You love me.”

Chaeyoung grinned. “Never said I didn’t.”

“Besides, he said ballet was meaningless too.”

“Probably just to piss you off.”

“Can we stop talking about him? He’s bad for my health.”

Chaeyoung made a noise that sounded somewhere between a laugh and a sigh.

“Fine.”

Chaeyoung was persistent.

“Pleeeeeease go on this date? Just once? For me?”

You scoffed and flipped through your magazine. Chaeyoung’s brightly decorated apartment made you nearly forget night was falling, but no pastel walls or fairy lights could make you forget that this argument was reaching the thirty minute mark.

“This isn’t some romcom, Chae. Blind dates aren’t for me.”

“He’s a great guy, you’ll hit it off right away!”

“Who even is he?”

“One of Hoseok’s friends.”

“...What’s his name?”

Chae’s eyes glanced around, before awkwardly looking back at you.

“I forget,” she admitted. “But! He’s amazing. He’s into music too! You’ll love him, I promise.”

“And if I don’t?”

“Then I’ll never get involved in your dating life again.”

You laughed and tossed the magazine down; you had heard that plenty of times before, but here you still sat.

“Why do you want me to go?”

“Well, Hoseok said his friend never spends time outside of his studio. And since you’re always dancing or over here, I figured you needed a night out too.”

You stared at her, your eyebrows raised as you mulled over the offer. Chaeyoung’s smirk infuriated you, because before you even opened your mouth to concede, she began squealing. She knew she had won long before the battle began.

“You won’t regret it!”

You had a feeling she was going to be wrong about that, but you allowed her to pull you into the bathroom so you could start getting yourself ready.

You were going to kill Chaeyoung.

Your hands gripped the phone and your nails tapped erratically against the screen as you blew up your best friend’s phone.

I hate you.

I swear after tonight, you’ll need a new best friend.

You groaned. You were stuck now, Namjoon had already spotted you and developed a similar look of annoyance. He was typing on his phone now, no doubt sending Hoseok similar messages to the ones you sent Chaeyoung. Mentally facepalming at your failure to see through your best friend’s plan, you slowly approached the table and sat down, sharing a half hearted smile.

He was wearing nicer clothes than you had ever seen him in before. His shirt and jeans fit him rather well, and you were surprised to learn his ears were pierced. You never found him unattractive before, but he was certainly holding back just how good he could look.

You found yourself staring for a moment too long, only to be brought back to reality by Namjoon’s waving hand in your face.

“Y/N?”

You blinked. “Oh, sorry. What’d you say?”

Namjoon’s annoyance only grew as he began to stand. “I said maybe we should just go, I don’t see this—”

“No!” Your voice was too loud, even to your own ears. “We’re here now, and we’re going to have a good time, so then maybe our friends will think that we don’t hate each other and never do this to us again.”

Namjoon paused for a moment, and you could see him weighing the pros and cons of going or staying. Cons: You two had to go on a date. Pros: Your friends would get off your backs.

After great and what looked to be a considerably painful debate, Namjoon slid back into his seat. “You have a point,” he finally said, sipping his water and awkwardly avoiding eye contact with you now.

You two needed to connect on something, and you weren’t going to get anywhere when he was making eye contact with your shoes.

After a few beats of silence, you decided to break the ice.

“You look nice,” you offered lamely, mentally pounding your head against the table. You look nice? Way to really open up a conversation there. You’re already on the date! Stop being awkward!

You nearly didn’t notice the way Namjoon’s eyes subtly moved up, how his eyes scanned and judged. You shifted under his gaze, unconsciously pulling up the low dip of your collar and tugging down the hem of your skirt that suddenly seemed too short, until his eyes met yours again.

“So do you.”

You gave a half smile that looked something more like a grimace, and the two of you lapsed into silence once again.

“So...what else do you do besides rap?”

Namjoon’s eyes turned slightly colder. “You mean besides ‘wasting my life chasing a rap career’?”

You winced. “Did I...really say that?”

Namjoon nodded solemnly, and you sighed.

“I make the beats for my songs. I read a lot too,” he continued eventually.

“Read anything good lately?”

“I'm reading Shakespeare for class. I'm in the middle of Othello right now.”

“Ooh, really? My favorite is Midsummer.”

Namjoon grinned. “Of course it is.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Comedy over tragedy. You just prefer lighter things to death and betrayal.”

You squinted suspiciously at him. “What are you, a psych major?”

He laughed. “No, just observant.” He brushed off his shirt. “What do you do other than ballet?”

“Photography, sometimes. Other times I try to do my makeup and instead look like Pennywise.”

Another laugh. “I don’t think you look like Pennywise.”

Why was your face warming up?

“Thanks.”

You were interrupted by your waiter finally appearing. As you two ate and laughed together, it almost became easy to forget about any previous animosity between the two of you. Conversation was so easy, the jokes and quips flowing from both of you into an endless stream of chatter, and you both found out a surprising amount about one another.

You were thoroughly enjoying yourself and laughing along to his story about his friend Jin, who enjoyed annoying his other friend Yoongi with puns, when Namjoon’s smile suddenly faded. He leaned back in his chair as he took a long sip of his drink. Your own grin nervously evaporated as he stared at the table.

He finished his sip but let his cup hang in front of his mouth for another long moment. He took a deep breath, at the same moment you decided you could no longer take this sudden tension.

“What’s wrong?”

“Well, I...I wanted to ask exactly why you hate me.”

You internally winced at the words. “I don’t hate you. I never did.”

“You seemed to.”

“I...dislike—er, disliked, you.”

“Why?”

You sighed. You knew he was going to ask, even if this date had never happened. Your resentment for him had never been explained to anyone, not even Chaeyoung, simply because you weren’t very sure of the logic behind the reason.

When you first met Namjoon, he had come over to greet his neighbors after buying the studio next door. He was a tall, smiling, polite man with an interest in music. Sprinkle in the intelligence, and you have what most would call the perfect man. He greeted you enthusiastically, never pushing boundaries and saying all the right things in the conversations to make the others laugh.

It drove you crazy. You wanted to see the darker side lurking underneath him, you wanted to know why he put on this perfect facade, you wanted to know why his friends looked to him as their leader.

It was awful of you, you knew that, and you weren’t sure why you were pushed with such a desire, but when others asked you about your opinion on rap, you heard yourself give bitter answers, meant to break away the mask Namjoon wore.

It worked.

The gap between you two had begun, and only grew worse, deepening and widening as you two pushed and chipped at one another, until you two could barely stand being near each other. Constant fights over the pettiest things made others actively seek to separate you both.

It was your turn to take a long sip of your drink.

“You were too perfect.”

Your answer surprised both of you. He raised his eyebrows and stared silently, waiting for you to continue.

“You were too perfect. I could sense something about it was off, and I didn’t like it. I assumed the nice guy thing was fake and you were just good at hiding it. You were perfect but not genuine, and I hated it. I insulted rap, and I thought it proved me right. I thought you were a bitter, petty person, but you’re not. I made you treat me that way.”

Namjoon hadn’t moved since you started your explanation, and he continued to sit completely still minutes after. You pictured weeping angels as you stared at him, thinking if you blinked or looked away he would disappear.

“I’m not a douchebag, if that’s what you’re thinking,” He said finally. “I’m not...comfortable around people, so I always try to make sure every else is comfortable. I just try to be polite.”

“I know. Now, anyway. And...I’m sorry for how I treated you. I shouldn’t have done it. It was fucked up.”

A long pause.

“I forgive you. I’m sorry too.”

A breath of relief from both sides.

“I forgive you too.”

As you stood up and split the check (after mch arguing), you walked out of the door together and allowed the conversation to flow naturally back to comfortable teasing and jokes. As you reached your apartment, you hugged him and smiled brightly.

“I really had fun tonight. Maybe rap isn’t so worthless.”

“Maybe ballet isn’t so dumb either.”

You playfully hit his shoulder, and he laughed.

“Want to go out again?”

You couldn’t say yes fast enough, and you headed into your apartment clutching your phone that now contained Kim Namjoon’s number.

You smiled at yourself in the bathroom mirror. What a perfect word.

she did kinda like.  Watch wizardmon die, watch tai die, watch gatomon get absorbed.  The dark ocean is just a metaphor for depression and honestly if 02 wasn’t all over the fucking place I think Kari would’ve had some pretty decent development in it.  Actually you know what, I’m using that as an angle to approach Tri at now, wish me luck bc i might actually give it more leeway now

Originally I was actually planning to be kinder to Tri than I expected.  Was very invested during it.  ‘Round the end of the last ep I realized hmmm no this isn’t working out.  Where are the 02 kids.  You should’ve brought them in to save the day.  That would’ve been SO cool and SO fun.  Fucking cowards.

god I’m kinda tired so I’m going to address a couple things I still had problems with, note that this isn’t everything it’s just everything I felt comfortable yelling about without rewatching past eps.  Like I forgot nishijima was all bloodied and presumably died in the last part until they brought it up and I was like “????” ALSO DID THE LADY WHO WAS HIS PARTNER OR W/E KILL HERSELF WITH THE GUN SHE FOUND, I JUST REALIZED LITERALLY AS I WAS TYPING THIS THAT SHE FOUND A GUN AND THEN I THINK IT CUT TO BLACK AND I’M

DID SHE FUCKING KILL HERSELF WHAT THE FUCK

anyways my problems:

1. They did joe. really dirty.  I’ll write a more proper rant on this sometime later (mostly bc charlie is MUCH better at talking about joe than I am) but basically I can tell you that his character development in the movies squandered his OG character development.  He’s basically an entirely different person.  Like Tri joe isn’t bad, besides being largely neglected (yes he has a whole half a movie to himself, no that doesn’t make up for it all), its just...not OG joe.  He’s a fine character just not the same character, and its NOT fine when you put the two together.

2. THEY DID THE 02 KIDS EVEN DIRTIER IM SO BITTER sorry you nostalgia-blind, money-hungry fucks at bandai, but the 02 cast is PART OF THE ADVENTURES UNIVERSE.  The only people who hate 02 are ones who like the characters but hate the mess of the storyline at the end, or are completely irrational and elitist about their love of the digimon series and would greatly re-evaluate their opinions if they watched the original series and 02 back to back.  They couldn’t even show them in some kind of group montage at the end??? Standing in the background when they call Mei???  Why couldn’t they call mei from a home phone also, but that’s a less important problem idc that much.  It was a cute scene besides the lack of 02 characters.  Whatever.  AND THE PROBLEM IS LIKE kari and tk?  This entire time???  Were like “oh they disappeared. oops” instead of being frantically searching for their lost friends???  Like i get tk and kari probably have fucking ptsd and can’t express any emotions because they watched important people die in front of their eyes at an incredibly young age but also 1. they didn’t address the ramifications of ptsd, so fuck that theory/excuse and 2. THAT??? WOULD ONLY MAKE THEM LOOK HARDER??? and put on a brave face as they look, but inside they’re so scared and so worried.  Not just “oh sweet, they were found/saved, theyre in the hospital but that’s fine” like WHAT theyre fucking assholes if that’s what they’d canonically do lmao.  God I am SO bitter over the ENTIRE thing with the 02 kids, it would’ve been BETTER if they were deleted from the fucking canon entirely.  Would I have still been bitter?  Yes.  But at least I wouldn’t be madder at TK and Kari too.

3. I stand 100% by the notion that Digimon is not and will never be cut out to be an adults’ franchise.  It wasn’t designed for adults, and it can’t be skewered towards adults.  These particular characters were designed for kids to relate to and find entertaining.  They do not work when placed into an adult setting.  Like, can you imagine a character like Ed from FMA going to the Digimon world?  I guess in a way that’s just Marcus but like.  Just imagine the FMA cast in Digimon Adventure.  It doesn’t work.  Digimon Tri is basically that except real.  Also Data Squad was darker than Adventure so my joke doesn’t even work.

I guess my primary point is that Tri isn’t mature enough of a setup for an adult audience.  It puts a focus on being “complex” and “philosophical” instead of working within Digimon’s constraints and making something good and adult out of that.  Like!  Digimon is a fucking TOY COMMERCIAL.  Don’t give me messages about the futility of human life.  I want bad puns and emotional characters.  That’s what Digimon has ALWAYS been, and ideally always will be.  Tri could’ve made itself more mature by dealing with the ramifications of the Digital World’s events, how it affected the kids psychologically and dealing with healing old scars.  It would’ve been a more mature take on a story we loved and would use things we loved about the story already - the fact that it took so much time exploring characters’ emotions and was surprisingly mature for the time - to make itself better.  You need to take the aspects that drew adults to the show and amplify them, not just slap on a complex story and unfunny dialogue and be like “oh this is fine, right?”

It’s not that Digimon can’t exist as an adult property, its just that if it repeats what Tri did, it’s got no merit and in my eyes the franchise is dead.  If it survives I guess I’ll be happy that people can still enjoy it but I find it unsustainable and unsatisfying to fans of the older series.  Tri is just a fuckfest of highly specific nostalgia that tries too hard to appeal to old fans without capturing what made the original series so magical, and in part thats because the original series WASN’T FOR ADULTS.  I don’t know about the Digimon Story games, bc they’re T-rated so perhaps they’re a better take on an adult Digimon story than Tri?  But you either need to make your own characters and lore specifically for an adult-oriented Digimon season, or perish.  Also, please make it a series and not a group of movies.  Getting four eps every 6-9 months was hell.

I stand by saying Appmon is a more faithful Digimon season than Tri to Digimon’s original spirit.  I believe it holds more potential for success than Tri and better embodies the spirit of the older Digimon seasons.  It’s dumb, its corny, it has horrible puns, but I LOVE it because it also has a deep dark story and emotional moments.  If you dislike Tri and you agree with things I said that make it unlikeable, I highly recommend giving Appmon a chance - if you watch a few episodes and think “oh yeah, I guess this is decent” you’re going to like it.  It’s everything Digimon has always been and hopefully always will be, just with a different concept.  And hopefully the end of the series doesn’t leave a sour taste in my mouth and I have to redact this statement haha since I’m not done with it yet, but I’ve heard good things about it so I’m hoping not so.

Overall, if you watch Tri, don’t get your hopes up.  It resolves everything okay-ish but it’s a pretty forgettable anime on its own and simply doesn’t work as part of the Digimon franchise.

I am, however, pretty interested in what evil!gennai said at the end about Diaboromon and Daemon.  It raises interesting questions about the timeline too.  We know Daemon is in the dark ocean, so perhaps that’s a hint at a future project?  (They did confirm a future project btw, in conjunction with tri being over)  But what about Diaboromon?  I dont believe that Our War Game (I think thats what its called?) took place after Tri, based on the outfits and ages and stuff, but I also don’t remember the movies that well.  Could Diaboromon still be out there too?  It’s interesting.

However, because of the lackluster performance of Tri, I don’t have my hopes up and I really hope that this “next project” goes in a different direction.  Although I guess if they include the 02 kids, I’ll be somewhat less salty...

Side note, did they ever explain why the gennais went evil?  Like ?  That’s a pretty important thing.  The gennais helped SAVE the human world in 02.  And I get that apparently Tri is ignoring 02′s ending but still.  It’s shitty, because Gennai was still a good guy in the original too (and also they cant just keep is younger look and act like 02 never happened)  MAYBE its something I missed but I dont think so.  God there’s just.  So much wrong with Tri.  I’m very displeased and very bitter and I wanna get back to Appmon asap.

It’s got good moments, its got bad moments, I dont know, I don’t care.  There’s nothing wrong with you if you like it, there’s nothing wrong with you if you don’t, and there’s nothing wrong with you if you flip flop and are split like me.  I just wish Tri fulfilled its potential instead of becoming a boring mess.

Sitting Next to Seokmin

Slight Angst/Fluff

“Hi!”

I looked over and noticed that Seokmin , the class clown, was pulling out the seat next to me. “Um, that’s Hana’s seat?”

“We have new partners today, remember?”

I looked around to see that half the class had switched seats around the classroom. ”Oh, right. I forgot.”

I went back to my phone as an awkward air hung around us. I was waiting for him to say something, he’s always saying something...but today he was quiet. Wow, am I that awkward that even he can’t say anything?

“Remember class, if you can keep the socializing to a minimum, I’ll let you sit where you want, but until you can prove otherwise, I’ll keep picking your seats.”

Seokmin, who had been playing with his pencil, suddenly flung it across the room. This, of course, caused everyone to burst out laughing. The teacher could only sigh and turn around. I rolled my eyes. How could we ever earn the right to sit wherever we want with Seokmin around. I turned to see Hana so far away in the back corner opposite me. I looked back at Seokmin who had returned from fetching his pencil. He looked really embarrassed as he pretended to take notes.

Class ended soon after and Seokmin seemed as if he were hesitating before leaving, then decided to dig in his bag again. I wanted to be able to part normally with him, but the words got stuck in my throat and we ended up just making eye contact.

“Seokmin! Hurry up! I’m hungry!” Seungkwan called from the door. He had come to pick him up.

“Alright.” He zipped up his backpack and left, leaving me with an uncomfortable unsatisfied feeling in the back of my mind.

“Why are you complaining? Now you won’t have a boring moment in class, sitting so close to Seokmin!” Hana said.

I rolled my eyes. “But he’s soo...so…”

“So what?”

“Extra!”

“Isn’t that your type?”

“How could that be my type?! Do you know me at all?”

“What would be your type then?”

“I don’t know...probably the cute nerdy type?”

“Would geeky also fall under your type?”

“I don’t know. I guess?”

“Then he’s your type!”

“How? Where?”

“I don’t know. He’s probably a closet geek or something. He probably fanboys about something. Just figure it out.”

“Hana, you know I already like someone.”

“Really though? You never talk about him anymore. Like, I feel like it’s been a year since you even mentioned his existence. Do you really still like him or are you just too lazy to find someone new?”

“Probably-”

“Plus, Mingyu doesn’t really fit your “type” anyways...then again...Mingyu’s everyone’s type.”

“Whatever.”

The next day, I was prepared to say hi at least to Seokmin, but I was caught off guard. He was wearing big, round glasses.

“Hi Y/n!”

“H-Hey…” I stifled my laugh best I could by pursing my lips and looking away. He looked ridiculous.

After the teacher passed out the assignment, Seokmin leaned over. “So, how do you like my new glasses?” He smiled. I’ve always liked his smile. It was huge and unrestrained. I was envious of it.

“Y-Yeah,” I struggled trying not to laugh. “You kinda look like Harry Potter in those glasses.

“Harry Potter?”

“Yeah. Did you run out of contacts or something today?”

“N-No.

“Then why are you suddenly wearing them. I’ve never seen you wear glasses. I never even knew you needed them.”

“I-I just...wanted a change.”

“Oh.” I felt like I had somehow sucked his energy out. “Um...well they look nice on you,” I complemented and turn back to the handout.

He smiled his gummy smile and also started his paper.

DK’s P.O.V.:

Alright. Today’s mission was a success. She smiled at me! I knew I could do it. I must have some kind of gift.

Y/n’s P.O.V.:

The next few weeks had passed and any awkwardness between Seokmin and I seemed to disappear. He was really funny, and his happiness was contagious. His dumb little puns had grown on me and class always seemed to end before I wanted it to. I always left smiling and found myself looking for him at lunch or in the hallways.

We had exchanged numbers during a project and he would always randomly send me jokes throughout the day. I would never fully laugh in his presence, but I always wanted to and, everyday, he got closer to breaking my walls. I liked him. I really liked him a lot. I tried to push this thought away, it made me blush just thinking about it, but I knew this was also pointless. I couldn’t really even imagine being with him. It’d be too weird. DK’s P.O.V.:

I walked into class, ready to tell Y/n the joke Soonyoung had just told me, when I noticed Mingyu sitting in our class. I looked over and saw Y/n, also staring at Mingyu, and I felt a pang of jealousy. I remembered clearly when I had overheard her and Hana discussing how she had liked Mingyu. It wasn’t too much of a surprise hearing this. What girl doesn’t have a crush, at least a side crush, on Mingyu?

It also reminded me of how she said she didn’t like me. I was an annoyance to her. I shook my head and tried to remind myself that we had been getting along great since we’ve started sitting together. Her mind must have changed...that or she just politely puts up with me.

“Hey Y/n,” I started, pulling out my chair next to hers.

“Hmm? What?” she said, as if breaking from a trance.

Y/n’s P.O.V.:

What did he say?

“Um, nothing.” Seokmin turned around and started shuffling within his backpack. I felt guilty instantly, not only because I had ignored Seokmin, but because I felt like I had somehow cheated on my crush. Just by looking at Mingyu. I’m being stupid. Neither are mine so why do I feel this bad.

Seokmin was being uncharacteristically quiet today so it left the lecture run smoothly, but also dully. Everything the teacher said seemed to drag on and on. My eyes wandered back to Mingyu every now and then and every time I caught myself, I became more and more certain of the fact that I was ‘over’ him. I was just used to always staring at him. That’s what I do with any crush. Optimizing every moment to look at them, but usually forgetting them as soon as school was over. That is, until Seokmin. A smile creeps up to my face every time I think of him randomly, anywhere, anytime.

“Make sure you and your partner are setting up time to work on the project outside of school. I’m only giving you a couple days of class time to actually work on it. Research and building the presentation will take a lot longer. Make plans to work before or during the break. The first day back we’ll randomly start presenting.”

The thought of meeting Seokmin outside of school was exciting, yet extremely nerve wracking.

“Did you still have the handout for the project?” I asked Seokmin. I couldn’t find mine for the life of me. We were working at the library wanting to start on the project to get it over with as soon as possible.

He dug around his backpack. “No?”

“I’ll just ask Hana to send us a picture of it.”

We waited, but she never responded. “I guess I’ll ask Mingyu then. She’s not responding anytime soon,” I announced to Seokmin who was playing a game on his phone.

“No!” Seokmin suddenly blurted out, forgetting about his game. In the silence all you could hear was his character die and the loser music playing. “Not him. Ask someone else.”

“Shat do you mean? Why can’t I ask Mingyu?” I asked confused.

He looked away, scrunching his eyebrows in a way I had learned meant he was concentrating on something hard.

I leaned over and tried to get a better look at his face, but as soon as we made eye contact, his face went blank.

He hesitated, “Y/n…”

“Yeah?” I raised my eyebrows at his suddenly serious tone.

“Do-do you like Mingyu or something?”

I blushed. “What? Why?” I evaded.

“Do you?” he insisted.

“No,” I answered curtly, hoping to convey my discomfort.

He sighed, but didn’t look all that convinced.

“Then why are you going to ask him, of all people?”

“Mingyu is the only other person in that class whose number I have. What’s the problem?”

“Are you sure?” he asked, suspicion coloring his tone.

“Why are you asking me these questions? What right do you have?”

He fell silent, eyes wide at my backlash. These aren’t thing I wanted to be discussing with my crush. They made me flustered, something I didn’t want him to see me be.

He almost looked ashamed. “I’m just trying to get to a point…”

“What point?”

“....”

I sighed and stood. So much for studying. Seokmin wasn’t as bad as what I’d imagined before I was forced to sit with him but, I can’t tell whether or not I dislike knowing him better now. These feelings just seem to be a nuisance, really. Why am I so annoyed that he’s asking me whether or not I like Mingyu. It’s not true anymore.

He looked up at me, not saying anything so I turned to head out.

“Wait!” He reached over and grabbed my wrist. I blushed and turned to look back at him. He slowly stood up and being so close in the cramped study room, I had look up at him.

I was silent, waiting for him to say something and he started to rub his neck. “I-I know you might not always like me...I could see it in your face every now and then...but, I just wanted to let you know that I-I like you. A lot.” He finished by giving me an awkward smile.

I gawked at him. What? What do you mean? Why?? How...No...This isn’t okay. I don’t feel okay. But...NO!!! Yet...I’m happy. I wanted to hear this...What do I do?

His smile began to fade at my blank face and his grip loosened.

The door opened and Soonyoung came in. “Yo, Seokmin. You promised we’d hang out after school to-....”

He seemed to notice the air that hung around us and looked down to see him holding me. Seokmin’s blush contrasted against his skin, and I seized this opportunity to pull out of his grip and run away. Yes, run away. Not literally running, but I walked out of the cramped study room with a purpose to get as far away as possible.

“Oh, my God…” Some part of me wanted this to be a joke, but a bigger part hurt at the thought that it was. I hadn’t expected a confession, and the way he seemed to be in despair made it all the more special. I like Seokmin. I know that...But why does he like me? Wouldn’t he be better off with someone as funny and popular as him?

I decided to stop at a park before heading home to compose myself. I was not okay. Why isn’t he following me? Calling for me...

DK’s P.O.V.:

I guess that’s a no. Ha...ha…ha…

“Um, did I do something?”

“No. I did. I ruined our friendship…”

Soonyoung looked at me with pity. “Sorry man. Maybe you should have waited a little longer?...I mean, it’s not too late either! You can still win her over!”

I sighed and shook my head. “She likes someone else, I’m sure. In any case, I don’t really think she likes me as a friend either. I’m too obnoxious for her.  She just tolerates my presence, clinging onto her. That’s not fair to her.”

“...Seokmin, don’t change who you are for her. You’re great like you are now. There’s no use if she doesn’t like you for you anyways.

I nodded. “Thanks.”

“Let’s get something to eat! Seungkwan found this great Ramyun place last week and I need to try it out! Let’s go!” he pulled me along, obviously trying to distract me.

As we headed to go eat, I knew I had to do something about Y/n. To lessen the awkwardness next week and so we could pretend this hadn’t happened. I pulled out my phone and thought of what to say. Maybe it’s too soon? Should I wait a couple hours? Till tomorrow? Will she just pretend like nothing happened anyways? No, I started this, so I should seal it myself.

Seokmin: I’m sorry, just forget what happened today. I hope we can still be friends?

Delivered.

I panicked while waiting for her to read it, but she wasn’t.

“I know a shortcut! Let’s cut through the park,” Seungkwan offered.

“How is that a shortcut?” Soonyoung questioned.

“Trust me. Who’s actually been there? ME!”

Thankfully, they carried on without me, probably knowing I wasn’t in the mood to talk yet. I’d tell them I’m okay and joke around by the time we got there, but for now, I needed this time.

I had fallen a bit behind the group, but I could still see them, so I made no real effort to catch up just yet.

“I’m so stupid,” a voice sighed. I stopped in my tracks when I recognized the voice. It was Y/n, and I turned to look behind me. She was sitting on the bench I had just walked next to, but her back was to me.

Whatever resolve of a farce I had been quietly building was crumbling, and again, I was filled with the same panic I had felt when confessing to her. Were I brave enough, I’d give her a back hug like I’d seen in so many dramas, the moment would have been perfect, but I couldn’t. Not when I was certain she didn’t view me that way. I’d only be annoying and then we could never pretend to be friends.

I stared at the back of her head and watched as she finally looked at her phone. She must have seen my text. She stared at it and sighed an almost dramatic sigh. I felt bad for bothering her to this extent. No one had ever really disliked me the way she did and it was especially harsh considering how much I liked her.

I pulled out my phone, waiting for her final blow to arrive. The typing sign popped up and disappeared many times. I heard her sigh again and put her phone away. She wasn’t even going to answer it. She leaned forward holding her head in her hands, arms propped up against her knees.

I wanted her to smile more than anything. More than me wanting her with me. Obviously the second wish was preventing the first from happening. I walked away with one last glance. This would be a long break.

Y/N’s P.O.V.:

How do I tell him. Should I just text him? No...it should be done to his face. He was brave enough to do it so why can’t I? Oh my God...what would I even say? I like you too? NO. I can’t...that’s too embarrassing...he couldn’t have meant it either. Obviously this is a joke. Or he meant it as friends, he likes me like a friend!...that wouldn’t make sense for the context of the conversation leading up to it...I’m not stupid...but maybe I am, just a little, if I rejected him like this…

I’ll just pretend like nothing happened...if the moment’s right...I’ll start hinting and leading him on to confess again!...I’m such a wimp…

Y/n: Do you want to work on the project tomorrow?

Read.

Seokmin: Sure. Where?

Where? The library again? NO. Umm...how to be kinda forward?...

DK’s P.O.V.:

Her house? Why would she want me to go to her house. I guess we’re just going to pretend like I didn’t just confess my feeling to her. I guess...that‘s for the best.

Any shred of hope I had been harboring had just been blown away by her nonchalant response. But I was also relieved. I was terrified we’d never be able to even talk. Guess I’ll just have to settle for this. Honestly, I can’t wait until we have to switch seats again. I don’t think I can handle sitting so close to her and not being able to be with her. It hurts.

Knock Knock

I never knew she lived so close to my house. It’s only two blocks away.

I heard a dog barking and it sounded really big and ferocious. As if I wasn’t already worried. It would probably sense how uncomfortable Y/n probably is around me and want to attack me, the enemy.

“Hey! Stop it! Shut up!” I heard Y/n yell at the dog. It was funny to hear her yell. She was always so quiet.

She opened the door slightly half her body extended to shield the dog away. “Come in, sorry.”

I slid through the door best I could but bumped into her in doing so. Her face turned away so fast I could only apologize quietly, slightly hurt.

Looking at the dog finally, I couldn’t suppress my laughter. “What?! That’s it?! You sounded so tough and scary from outside! You’re just a Weenie dog! Hahaha! W-Why are you so long? Oh I’m so done.” I kept laughing at the weenie dog. What could it even do? Trip me?

Y/n smiled a bit. “Why are you picking on my dog? You haven’t even met him!” She picked him up and cradled his long body. “Shh. You’re perfect, don’t listen to him. He’s dumb.”

I was so relieve by all this. “Dumb? I think I got a better grade on our last quiz, if I remember correctly.”

She rolled her eyes, “By like 3 points,”  she said through pursed lips which I had learned it meant she was suppressing a smile. It wouldn’t take long before she wouldn’t be able to hide her smiles anymore. I’d make sure of that.

Y/n’s P.O.V.:

Our exchanges came out more naturally than I thought they would. How dare him pick on my baby though! I grabbed some snacks and waters before leading the way to my room. The nerves had kept me cleaning and rearranging my room until late at night. All of this just to rearrange everything again today in the morning.

I watched as Seokmin just looked at everything. He mostly stared at all my stuffed animals. I had a rather large collection. I didn’t throw any away.

“Um, I guess we should start?” I set everything on the floor. My desk wasn’t big enough for both of us and the only other place we’d both fit would be my bed. That was a definite NO.

He sat opposite of me and when I finally looked up at him, I noticed he was staring at me. I felt my face heat up and looked back down. I heard him shuffling around and lay on his stomach. He was typing on his laptop.

We carried on in silence for the most part. Only every now and then would we ask each other questions about the project. About an hour had passed by and I was bored.I rolled onto my back, trying to think of anything but the project. So, of course, my thoughts were about Seokmin. I tilted my head back to see him and he was looking right at me his head not too far away from mine. We stared at each other for a while, the whole time I wanted to look away, but I couldn’t. He didn’t turn away either.

Slowly, but surely, he started leaning forward, but right as he was a couple inches away, I sat up, knocking my forehead with his chin in the process.

“Ow!”

“Sorry!”

I turned to face him and saw how he held his chin and scrunched his face. I should’ve felt bad, but he looked so funny. Everything he did was funny and I had to laugh.

When the pain subsided, he still looked hurt, but it wasn’t the same as before. I could see it in his eyes.

He started putting his things away.

“Where are you going?” I asked confused.

“I can’t anymore. I’m sorry. I thought I could handle just being your friend, but I can’t.” He started standing.

“W-What about the project?” Tell him! I can’t! Don’t let him leave again! When else will you be able to do it! BUT I CAN’T!!!

DK’s P.O.V.:

Ugh. This stupid project. But I can’t let her fail because of me. I just stood there. Why did I have to do that?! Everything was going fine! If I could only have some self control, we’d be okay...but she laughed at me. She must think my feelings are some kind of joke. How cruel. I want to leave.

“I’m sorry,” she said, looking at the floor. “For now...and before.”

I nodded. “I guess we should just finish the project.”

She sighed and thanked me. I tried to power through everything as fast as I could, but I couldn’t help but notice her just fidgeting, not really doing anything.

“I-I’ll be right back,” she announced and left the room.

I sighed as I finally relaxed a bit. At least this silence was natural. I was alone.

She came in and hesitated by the door. I continued to work on my laptop, trying my hardest not to look at her. She suddenly sat next to me. I froze, but kept my head facing the laptop.

She leaned over and pulled my hand from the laptop and into hers. She just held it simply, not looking my way but just at my hand in hers. I tried reading her face but, as she looked down, her hair created a kind of curtain between us. I tentatively used my free hand to push her hair behind her ear. She was the reddest I had ever seen her and her eyes looked opposite of my direction. Her lips were pressed against each other and she started to let go of my hand.

I held on to hers with more strength to make up with her waning one. “Y/n?” I questioned. I was confused, but happy. Very happy.

She looked over and away again. “I’m sorry,” she said again through pressed lips.

“Does this mean...you like me too?” I asked, all my hope coming back and pulsing through my body.

She nodded her head and started playing with my hand. She wouldn’t look at me and all I wanted was to see her smile.

“Y/n?”

She turned to look at me again and I went in for the kiss I should’ve just given her before. She was frozen and stared wide eyed at me, but she began leaning forward. She placed her free hand on my chest. I almost expected her to push me away but she slowly began to pull on my shirt, pulling me in closer. Now it was my turn to be surprised. I didn’t expect her to be this bold. I had to pull away, because it didn’t seem like she was going to anytime soon.

I smirked at her surprised face. She became red again and looked away.

“Should we continue working on the project...or do you want to do that again?”

“Oh my God, shut up!” she hit me and stood up to leave the room.

I pulled her back down. “Stay here.”

She had left the door open and suddenly her Weenie dog came at running speed. It was fast.

“Thor! Get him!” Y/n pointed in my direction..

The beast pounced and tried it’s best to get at me. Little success, but it made Y/n laugh so freely, it was music to my ears. I was going to hear this everyday, I was sure of it.

“Thor? Really?”

“Why not?”

I shook my head as I held the long beast in the air. It practically wanted to slither out of my grip.

“Just give him to me! You’re holding him wrong! His back!” she yelled and leaned over to grab him. I took the chance to kiss her cheek. She blushed and looked away.

I waited, but she kept playing with Thor. “Hey! What about me?! Aren’t I the guest? Shouldn’t you be keeping me entertained?”

“Shut up,” she said, but I could see her smiling as she turned away. That’s all I wanted.

Oh god, I forgot to post the end of year writing meme. So here it is about a week late. I wrote so goddamn much this year. I never expected karabita fandom to just kind of. Happen. haha. It was weird going through my fics and thinking about things like good lines or good summaries. I wonder if anyone who reads the fics remember lines better than I do? It feels weird thinking about someone having a favorite fic of mine or a favorite line from one of my fics or something. After all this time, I still kind of think, like, “well, no one’s really reading/enjoying/remembering what I write” so it’s odd to think of my fics inside someone else’s head. I guess that’s what they’re for, though...

Anyway, my fics this year were full of a lot of ups and downs. If anyone wants to talk about any of them, or you have any questions or anything, it was really fun looking back through them and I’m kind of nostalgic now. lol

Just going for the ones on AO3 now, so add several more karabita Tumblr fics and and I think some danganronpa, gravity falls, muppets, and maybe SU? I can’t remember all the non-Osomatsu ficlets I wrote this year. On AO3, though, 34 Osomatsu-san fics, all karabita I think. One also contained Ichimatsu/Xmas Couple and Jyushimatsu/Homura. Two fics for Arsenic and Old Lace, both gen. Two Danganronpa fics, Ishimaru/Mondo and Gundham/Sonia. One Gravity Falls fic, Stan-centric gen. One Scooby Doo fic, gen. One Pokemon Go fic, gen. Specifics

Best/worst title?

Best… I had a couple I’m fond of. Probably “The Road Not Taken (Again and Again and Again)”, “Six Sips of Strychnine”, or…god, a lot of these are puns. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that some of the pun ones, like “Fowl Play” and “A Ghost of a Chance” and “The Pokemon Trade” are the best and the worst. I’m also not thrilled with “Love’s Carriers”.

Best/worst summary?

Hmm. Frankly, I don’t think I’m very good at summaries. “There is a difference between living and surviving. Karamatsu hovers between the two.” wasn’t too bad. And both “Karamatsu knows that Chibita is drunk, but it's a little hard to take the moral high road with a hand on his dick.” and “Sometimes when two men love each other very much and one man is kidnapped by some aliens and some [censored] [censored] stuff happens, a beautiful miracle is created.” made me laugh. “Sometimes Karamatsu can see the choices he didn’t make, and ones he’s sure he did.” is probably the best, though.

Worst…uh… Most of them… My summaries are so half-assed. Probably either “Chibita loves his new dog, but Karamatsu is hiding something. (Spoilers: NO, he is not a werewolf, he's just allergic to dogs.)” or “‘Write a fic where [Karamatsu] eats a salad’ That's it, that's the fic.”

Best first line?

Errr. I have a few that make me laugh. “For a long time, Karamatsu had labored under the blissful delusion that he was basically a good person.” (All’s Fair In Love and Blow Jobs), “After being attacked by a horde of vampires, being held captive in their den of villainy, and becoming a denizen of the night himself, Karamatsu understandably had to make a few lifestyle changes.” (Developing A Taste), “There were some times, some crimes, that made Velma seriously consider getting a day job.” (Fowl Play). (That one in particular makes me laugh, but I don’t think most people got the allusion.)

I also think a couple set the mood pretty well, like “It all began with Karamatsu kneeling on Chibita's floor, head pressed to wood and his wings folded tight against his back, the perfect picture of submission.” (Feathers and Favors) or “Karamatsu stared dully ahead, not entirely sure whether it was the steam or the alcohol that was making his vision swim.” (The Road Not Taken)

Honestly, I think most of my opening lines are pretty good, or at least serviceable.

Best last line(s)?

I just closed all my fic windows. ;~; Honestly, most of my last lines are more like last paragraphs, and kind of sum up the themes of the fic. They don’t always work well outside of them… But this one is probably the funniest without context.

General questions

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

I wrote far, far more than I expected I would. I wrote almost three times as much this year as I have in all the other years put together on this pseud. (Though actually, I think I did write quite a bit on another pseud last year…?)

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?

I MEAN I FEEL LIKE KARABITA WAS THE DARK HORSE. I wasn’t even that into it when I started writing it!! I kind of became more comfortable writing the pairing as I went, and now I have a million ideas. I think it really was like 90% the support I got from the fandom that made me keep writing. Uh, that and personal stress. lol

What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

Uhh. I think Feathers and Favors is the one that meant the most to me, but I think Like Moving Parts is my favorite. It feels homey to me.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

GOD haha um probably mouth full of roses, eyes full of stars. I never, ever thought that melodramatic fic would be as popular as it’s become. It was such an experiment. I’m still not really sure why it caught on. Love’s Carriers also shocked me. I wrote both of those fics in such a short period, and I was expecting them to go largely unremarked. And then others I thought would go over well and they were basically ignored. so. Fandom is weird.

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

I REALLY LIKED MY POKEMON AU but I also acknowledge that many of the best parts still remain on my hard drive. God, I need to post the rest of that fic. I guess the Pokemon craze has kind of passed, though…

Life Line, Heart Line wasn’t exactly underappreciated… I was just writing for a fandom of one and I knew it. It wasn’t shocking to me that no one read it, and it was mostly just a short ToT fic so it didn’t sting. (I…learned my lesson about writing really involved fics for minuscule fandoms after I wrote that Sleep No More fic.)

Story that could have been better?

Er… Probably a lot of them, all told. I’m really not very good at writing sex, so probably some of those especially.

Sexiest story?

I…guess probably the sexy rent fic, haha. Though again, I think a lot of the best parts of that are still on my hard drive.

Saddest story?

Errrr… Probably Little Ghost, Little Ghost or the zombie ficlets. Both of them that involve dead halves of my OTP and the other half coping badly, essentially. Or The Devil At The Crossroads, because that one involved suicidal ideation.

Most fun?

Probably the Muppet fics! It’s a fun canon. Or, oh my god, that silly, stupid Scooby Doo fic. I loved it, people loved reading it, it was stupid. It was really fun haha.

Story with single sweetest moment?

Uh.. Frankly, I think I specialize in sweet moments, so this is a bit hard for me. The confession scenes at the ends of Like Moving Parts and Feathers and Favors stand out, but I think most of my readers would pick other moments, lol.

Hardest story to write?

Emotionally, it was Feathers and Favors. I…cried a lot while I wrote that. It touched on some very personal parts of my life. Love’s Carriers probably required the most research. I had to walk to florists haha. The Arsenic and Old Lace fics fought me a lot, largely because of election angst, which is why I ended up writing two. I’m relatively happy with Six Sips, though.

Easiest/most fun story to write?

I had fun with basically every single monster one, hahaha. I have such a type. Paradoxically, I think that Feathers and Favors was also one of the easier ones to write. I wrote so much in such a short period of time, because it just flowed really well. I guess writing it was kind of therapeutic.

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?

Honestly, I think I thought a lot more about gag characters than is really right or proper this year. My perceptions changed a lot, and I came to love both Chibita and Karamatsu even more. (Which…is what happened to me when I wrote Beaker last year…)

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

Uhh… I mean… I wrote a lot of short, weird little fics this year, but largely in a fandom where I mostly knew I’d have an audience. (But I did worry a lot about alienating said audience, especially after they got used to fluff from me.) The zombie ones were outside of my comfort zone, but everyone was writing zombies so it wasn’t that much of a risk. The Road Not Taken actually was a risk; it was one of my first Osomatsu-san fics and I had no idea how it’d be received.

What are your fic writing goals for next year?

I don’t know… I’d like to finish a few of the karabita WIPs I have on my hard drive, but… It does kind of seem like the fandom for the pairing is dying off, doesn’t it? I still have a lot of stories to tell, but maybe soon I’ll have no one to tell them to… So maybe one of my goals should be finding a new fandom, too, huh? I tend to hunker down when I find a pairing I really like, but I often stay long after the audience has moved on, which just leads to frustration. Sometimes I look at the karabita AO3 tag and feel kind of embarrassed because I’ve written such a large percentage of the fics that are there, like maybe I’ve glommed onto something dumb too much? But it’s been one of the few fun things in a terrible year, so oh well, whatever. Still, branching out a bit couldn’t hurt.

I’d also like to write more of my ideas for original fic, though I’ll admit I find that very… large. My origific ideas have a habit of getting away from me, and then they’re too big and I get overwhelmed and set them aside. I should probably give them a chance to grow, though. I have so many f/f ideas, and the world needs more f/f origific.
