-
“Auntie Beca?”
“Ah ha?” Beca asked, spinning around in her chair to face four-year-old Sarah who had just wandered into her office. “What’s up?”
“Can you help me with something?”
“Of course, what do you need?”
Sarah pushed some hair out of her face and then handed Beca a piece of pink construction paper. “Can you cut this into a heart please?”
“Uh, sure,” Beca said, taking it from her and glancing around her desk for some scissors. She found some and cut the paper into a heart. “What’s this for?” Beca asked, handing it back.
“Valentine’s Day,” Sarah said.
“Ohh,” Beca replied, grinning. “In that case who is it for?”
“It’s for Mommy,” Sarah said, as if it should have been obvious.
“Silly me,” Beca said. “Of course it’s for Mommy.”
“Who are you giving a heart to?”
“Sorry?”
“At school, they said you have to give a heart to your favourite person,” Sarah said. The tone in her voice indicated that this was something very simple that Beca should have known about.
“Ah,” Beca said. “Well, I didn’t make a heart like you did, but I did get something for your Mommy. Would you like to see it?”
“My Mommy is your favourite person?” Sarah asked, head tilted.
“She is,” Beca said. “You and your Mommy are my favourite people.”
“So you got me something too?”
Beca shrugged. “You’ll have to wait and see. Would you like to see what I got her? It has to be a secret though.”
Sarah nodded, pushing her hair out of her face again as got closer to Beca.
Beca reached into her top drawer and pulled out a small box. She opened it to reveal a delicate silver necklace with a small heart at the end of the chain.
It had felt a little cliche to buy heart-shaped jewellery, but this was their first Valentine’s Day as a couple, and Beca wanted to be a little cheesy.
“Do you think she’ll like it?” Beca asked.
“Yes,” Sarah said, nodding definitively. “It’s pretty.”
“It’s far too quiet up here,” Chloe’s voice came from outside the office, her footsteps growing louder as she climbed the stairs.
“Uh oh,” Sarah said, quickly putting the pink heart behind her back as Beca slid the box back into her top drawer.
“What’s going on in here?” Chloe asked, eyebrows raised at the two slightly guilty expressions staring back at her.
“Nothing,” Beca and Sarah said quickly.
“What’s that behind your back?” Chloe asked.
“Nothing,” Sarah said again. “Just a surprise.”
“Oh, a surprise? Who for?” Chloe asked, trying not to grin.
“Uhh,” Sarah turned around to look at Beca who shrugged. “I can’t tell you. Auntie Beca has a surprise too, but she can’t tell you either because it’s a secret.”
Beca sighed but couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out,” Chloe said. “Come on, trouble, Auntie Beca has to finish work and you need to come tidy up your toys.”
Sarah gave a dramatic sigh and allowed her Mom to lead her away.
Beca turned back to her computer but didn’t really feel like working. It was close to five pm, and she figured finishing a little early wouldn’t hurt.
“Actually,” Beca said, causing Chloe and Sarah to stop. “I think I’m done with work today.”
“You sure?” Chloe asked, smiling as Beca began shutting down her computer.
“Positive,” Beca said.
“Then you can supervise and make sure Sarah puts away her toys,” Chloe said, smiling harder when both Sarah and Beca groaned.
-
The next morning Chloe woke Beca up with a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Hey,” Beca mumbled, still half asleep as she kissed her girlfriend back. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Chloe replied.
“I got you something,” Beca said, making a move to leave the bed before Chloe’s hand closed around her arm.
“It can wait,” she said, tugging Beca back beneath the covers. “We only have a little bit longer before Sarah gets up.”
“I like the way you think, Beale,” Beca said, kissing Chloe again. “You’re not thinking about sex, right?”
“God no, I’m exhausted,” Chloe said, causing Beca to laugh and collapse back against the pillows.
“Thank God,” Beca said. “Taking care of a four-year-old is no joke.”
Chloe grinned and cuddled further into Beca’s side.
“I love the way you are with her,” she said. “I love how much you’ve bonded.”
“Yeah, she’s pretty great,” Beca said. “I’m just glad she likes me.”
They cuddled in bed for a little longer until they heard the tell-tale sounds of Sarah’s feet along the carpeted hallway.
There was a tiny knock at the door before it was pushed open, and Sarah was climbing up and onto their bed. In her hands she held two slightly crumpled pink hearts. She gave one to her Mom and the second one to Beca.
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” She said, grinning broadly, her red hair sticking up wildly.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” Chloe said, taking the heart and kissing her on the cheek. “Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.”
Beca had to swallow before she spoke again. “You made this for me?” She asked.
Sarah nodded. “Mommy helped me with the scissors since you helped me with Mommy’s.”
Beca held it in her hand like it was the most precious thing in the world, trying to stop her eyes from filling with tears.
“Thank you,” Beca said. “This has made me really happy.”
Sarah beamed with pride before climbing off the bed. “I’m gonna go see if he’s been!” She said, excitedly running out the door.
“What is she talking about?” Chloe asked, brow furrowed as she got out of bed to follow her daughter. “Oh no, does she think Valentine’s Day is like Christmas?”
Beca laughed and got out of bed too. She put the heart on her nightstand carefully, before going into her closet and grabbing a small wrapped gift. “Lucky I got her something.” She grabbed the other one that she had stashed there late last night. “And lucky I got you something too.”
They shared a quick kiss. “I got you something too,” Chloe said. “But it’s not suitable for kids, and definitely something I’m going to give you Sarah is at pre-school later.”
Beca raised her eyebrows. “You’re full of surprises.”
“Let’s go before she starts tearing the place apart looking for gifts from Cupid or whoever.”
“Hey,” Beca said, taking hold of Chloe’s hand before she left. “I love you.”
Chloe grinned. “I love you too.”

The Adviser (24/45) | Bechloe Mafia AU
The Guillotine File - Chapter Preview (Read the rest at ao3) Aubrey was doing her best not to laugh, and look as stern as ever, but Beca was making it very hard with her theatrics. She was currently oh so forlornly leaning towards one of the pillars in the middle of Cynthia Rose's restaurant while shamming the residents for doubting her intentions.
To be fair, they were right to doubt. But Beca was the rightful owner of the gold, so can she really blame her?
"I can't believe, that I did something out of the kindness of my heart for all of you, to show my gratitude, and you think… that-that I am some dastardly villain who would lie to you," Beca said, looking incredibly dejected.
"We're so sorry, Beca," Flo then said.
"We didn't mean to," Jessica and Ashley chorused.
"Yeah, lil consigliere," Amy then chimed in.
"It's not that we thought bad of you, but you know, gold can get to a person's greed," Cynthia Rose followed.
"I don't think, I can be here right now," Beca then said, with a sniffle, before dramatically stomping off to leave. Luke excused himself, shaking his head, explaining he was going home.
"Now look at what you've done," Chloe then chastised them before following Beca.
"Shame on all of you for thinking Beca would betray you all," Emily then said, before stomping off to.
Aubrey simply shook her head and sighed. "So much for a fun weekend with all of you," was all she said before shortly following her friends back to the office.
They have so many questions for Beca after all.

Bechloe “You used me as a pillow.” “Sorry”
When the hour finally hits Chloe with how late it was, she lifts her head. Something stops her from putting her phone back on the end table next to the couch and when she looks down, she smiles softly at the sight of Beca sleeping on her.
Beca's face is peaceful as her hair splays all across her chest, her arms tucked in like a child in the space between her curled up body and the back of the couch cushions. There is a furrow in her brows as she huffs in her sleep, and the glasses that is Chloe's but for which Beca had sarcastically plucked from her face because she just looks like a "nerd" had slid down her nose, now perching not even an inch away from her mouth, which is slightly open.
Chloe squints closely for a second, and even in the dim lighting blanketing the living room combined with her weakening eyesight she can confirm that yep, that is most definitely drool.
She snorts, rubbing her eyes for a long moment. Laying her head back on the arm of the couch she runs her hands down her face, contemplating on whether or not to wake Beca up so that they can return to their respective beds to prepare for more school and work and rehearsals tomorrow (well, later in the day, now) when a crick in her neck and shoulder blades suddenly makes the decision for her.
Chloe groans. Her phone vibrates against her collarbones from where it had fallen for the reminders that she had set for herself in the morning, and like it is an alarm, she sits up.
Beca stirs, wakening. Her eyelashes flutter like it always does when she is slowly taking in her surroundings and at the realization that she is spread across Chloe's lap, she shoots up as well.
"What- what time is it?"
Chloe decides to keep it to herself that Beca looks ridiculous and adorable (ridiculously adorable? Is that a thing? She can't really think right now) with her glasses hanging from her ears and her hair mussed on one side. She stretches, sighing at the crack in her back and in her neck, after rolling it around.
"Four."
Beca seems to blink out of a stupor at the quiet rasp in Chloe's voice. "Oh. Wow. That's uh. That's late."
Chloe raises her eyebrows, dropping her arms back to her side. They are staring at each other now, Beca's eyes wide and alert, while Chloe is just bewildered (and secretly excited, really) about how Beca hasn't run away yet. "Yep."
And then, just to break the tension because it is starting to thicken and it has only been a month that Chloe has come to terms with the fact that she is in love with Beca, she says, "You used me as a pillow."
"Sorry."
Chloe shrugs, because it isn't like it is a big deal, she just needed something to confess. Before she says something that she might regret later.
She reaches out to pull her glasses off of Beca's face. She feels Beca draw in a sharp breath and her own heart seems to do the same by beating a bit faster. She smiles to hide her nervousness.
"Do you wanna come back to my room?"
There is a difference between sleeping wrapped up in each other on the couch versus upstairs, in her bed. Maybe it is the fact that there is more space, but Beca isn't as clingy, as needy, or as soft, and there is always the excuse of her being too tired to go up to the attic.
Chloe can see Beca swallow. She fiddles with the fabric of her shorts while she waits for Beca's reply, which instantly comes in the form of a nod after some brief hesitation.
Chloe's grin broadens. "Awes."
And if her heart seems to tighten in her chest on its way of climbing into her throat as she sets down her glasses to use both of her hands to pull Beca from the couch, she ignores that, too.
Because wakening up accidentally next to Beca in the middle of the night is the second-best possible thing, and if the first one cannot be achievable, then she can settle for the second one just as well.
It can never be just as good, just as wonderful, though.

get to know me tag game!
tagged by @blue-runt like a week ago but i am Very slow hello
fav ships: thiam, stevebucky, sereshaw, buddie, calliette, anderperry, finnpoe, wenclair, scira, and lately kimchie are my top ten… love it when the characters names just sound Cute together 🫶.
first ship: no one laugh but my first conscious ship was bechloe from the pitch perfect movies (IN MY DEFENSE… HAVE YOU SEEN THE SHOWER SCENE?) but looking back before i even knew what shipping was (or that i was gay) i wanted silena and clarisse from the percy jackson books to be girlfriends so very badly.
last song: unchained melody covered by orville peck
currently reading: i haven’t had much time for reading recently because of finals but now that i’m graduated and i know my sister is getting me books for christmas i’m hoping to get back into it more. and in terms of fics i am actually hanging onto every update of green zone <3
last movie: in theaters it was wakanda forever (twice) but i also pirated the cam version of the menu last week because i was desperate to see redheaded anya taylor joy but too cheap and too busy to go see it in person. both very excellent. the menu was not about what i thought it was gonna be at all tho 😭 oh and my father decided to watch a very corny hallmark movie last night called the 9 kittens of christmas and i indulged him by sitting through it because it was about cats.
currently watching: i have multiple episodes of 911 to catch up on but i decided to rewatch s3 of teen wolf again, i just started willow because they have a knight/princess sapphic couple (thats canon!!!!), and also the world cup just ended so i was busy watching that too (last match almost gave me a heart attack i was covering my face and feeling ill every time the scores were re-tied).
consuming: now that i am no longer living in a dorm or on a dining hall plan i am eating any and everything to make up for my past few months of torture and deprivation.
craving: an indicator for wtf i’m supposed to do next now that i’ve finished undergrad and also egg drop soup because #comfortfood.
currently working on: i just finished an almost 45k word long fic that i planned to be like 20k max so i will definitely be taking a little break from writing but i have a partially started thiam fic titled “The Neck Thing” sitting in my docs that i need to finish planning because it’s cuter than the title sounds i promise guys 🙏.

Our First Mother’s Day
A/N: Sorry, this wasn’t ready for posting on Mother’s Day; but you know, life and all that.
Summary: From the Firefighter!Chloe AU. Last Christmas Chloe helped deliver her son Dylan when Beca went into labor at home (see Chapter 11 titled The Spark We Created in my 12 Days of BeChloe Christmas - 2021).
Dylan Beale is now five months old and his mothers will be celebrating their first Mother’s Day. Chloe wants to surprise Beca by doing something special.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Good morning, handsome,” Chloe said as she lifted 5-month-old Dylan from his crib.
Dylan waved his arms and legs as Chloe held him against her chest.
“How’s my boy doing this morning?” Chloe asked, kissing the top of Dylan’s head.
Beca came rushing into Dylan’s room.
“Give me kisses,” Beca said, leaning in to kiss Dylan’s cheek.
“What about me?” Chloe pouted.
Beca shook her head and smiled as she reached up to kiss Chloe.
“I’d love to stay home with you both, but I have to meet my dad,” Beca said. “I don’t want to be late. You know how he gets.”
“Bye, mommy,” Chloe said in a baby voice while waving Dylan's hand at Beca. “Tell gramps I said hi.”
“I love you, guys,” Beca said, sending a wave over her shoulder. “I’ll be home in time for dinner.”
“We love you, too,” Chloe called after her.
Chloe took Dylan to the changing table and proceeded to change Dylan’s diaper.
“Finally,” Chloe said, looking down at Dylan. “I didn’t think mommy would ever leave. It’s just you and me now. Let’s get some breakfast and then get dressed so we can take Max for a walk and then go get momma a surprise for Mother’s Day. It’s only two weeks away and we’re going to do something extra special for her. Are you with me?”
Dylan cooed and smiled; Chloe’s heart melted.
“You are so adorable,” Chloe said, smiling down at Dylan. “And, you’ve got your mommy’s beautiful smile.”
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Chloe had just finished packing Dylan’s diaper bag when the doorbell rang.
“I wonder who that could be?” Chloe mumbled as she picked Dylan up and made her way to the door.
“Hey, Chloe,” Stacie said.
“Hey, Stacie,” Chloe said. “What brings you by?”
“I love my wife, but I needed to get away from her and her hormones for a bit,” Stacie said. “Do you mind if I hang out with you and Beca for a while?”
“Beca went to help her dad with something,” Chloe said. “Dyl and I were actually just leaving. You’re welcome to come with us if you want.”
“Bless you,” Stacie said with a relieved smile. “Where are you headed?”
“I’m taking Dylan to get some pictures done for Beca for Mother’s Day,” Chloe said. “Since she’ll be at her dad’s most of the day, I thought today was the perfect time to get it done.”
“Oh, that’s right,” Stacie said. “It’s your first Mother’s Day since having Dylan.”
“Yeah,” Chloe said as she grabbed the diaper bag. “Just think, you and Aubrey will be celebrating next year.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” Stacie said, smiling as she followed Chloe to the garage.
Chloe threw the diaper bag onto the backseat and secured Dylan in his car seat as Stacie got into the passenger seat. Chloe got behind the wheel and started the car.
“Want to get lunch when you’re done with Dylan’s photos?” Stacie asked as Chloe started the car.
“Are Aubrey’s hormones really that bad?” Chloe laughed as she pulled out of the garage.
“Yes, they are,” Stacie said with a sigh.
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Chloe and Stacie had just been seated at a Mexican restaurant near the photo studio. Stacie frowned as she looked around.
“Something wrong?” Chloe asked.
“I’m feeling guilty,” Stacie said. “Aubrey loves this place and I left her home alone.”
“You could always order her something to go,” Chloe said.
Stacie smiled. “That’s a great idea. I’ll surprise her with her favorite.”
“Um,” Chloe said. “I think you should call her and see what she wants. When Beca was pregnant, I thought I was being a good wife and took home some subs from the deli near the station because she always raved about them. I handed them to her and she practically threw up as soon as she smelled them.”
“Aubrey has had a lot of morning sickness,” Stacie said. “And I’m still baffled why it’s called morning sickness, when she’s sick morning, noon, and night.”
Chloe chuckled. “That’s so true.”
The waitress took their order and Stacie mentioned she may need to place an order to go before they left.
As soon as the waitress left the table, Stacie pulled out her phone and called Aubrey.
“Hey, babe,” Stacie said when Aubrey answered.
“Where are you?” Aubrey asked.
“Beca was busy today so I’m having lunch with Chloe and Dylan,” Stacie said. “We’re at the little Mexican place you love and I thought I’d check to see if I can bring something home for you.”
“That’s sweet but I don’t think my stomach will handle it well,” Aubrey said. “But I would love it if you would stop by the market on your way home and pick up some dill pickles. I’ve got a craving for pickles and ice cream; we already have the ice cream.”
“Gross,” Stacie muttered. “Of course, babe. I’ll let you know when I’m on my way home. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” Aubrey said. “Tell Chloe I said hi and give Dylan kisses for me.”
“I will,” Stacie said and ended the call. She looked at Chloe. “Brey said hi.”
“What’s gross?” Chloe asked.
“What?”
“When you were talking to Aubrey, she said something and you muttered gross. What was that about?”
“Oh, she wants me to stop and pick up some dill pickles,” Stacie said, grimacing. “She has a craving for pickles and ice cream.”
“Gross,” Chloe said, shuddering at the thought. “I’m so glad Beca never had that craving or I’d have been the one with the morning sickness.”
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Later that night, Beca and Chloe were laying in bed, discussing Mother’s Day. Beca had invited their parents over for a nice brunch and they were discussing what to have.
“Let’s have it catered,” Beca suggested. “We’re moms now so we should be able to sit back and enjoy our day just like our moms.”
“I’m loving that idea,” Chloe said.
“I’ll get the number from Stacie and call the caterer she uses for their Christmas Eve dinners,” Beca said.
“They do have good food,” Chloe said.
Beca snuggled closer to Chloe and said, “We should invite Stacie and Aubrey. Stacie said both their moms were going to visit one of their other kids for Mother’s Day.”
“I think that’s a great idea,” Chloe said. “I know Stacie’s a bit overwhelmed with Aubrey’s hormones and weird cravings right now. Oh, and let’s make sure we have some pickles and ice cream on hand, just in case.”
“Why?” Beca asked, scrunching her nose.
“That’s what Aubrey has been craving, so I thought we should be prepared.”
“Ew, gross,” Beca said.
“That’s what I said,” Chloe said, chuckling.
Beca kissed Chloe’s shoulder and threw her leg over Chloe’s waist, sitting up so she was straddling Chloe’s hips.
“Oh! I guess we’re done talking,” Chloe said as Beca leaned down to capture her lips in a heated kiss.
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Three days later, Chloe was sitting in her office at Headquarters updating the report on her latest arson investigation. Her personal cell rang and she picked it up expecting to see Beca calling her. Her eyes widened in surprise when Benji’s name popped up on her caller ID.
“Hey, Benji,” Chloe said. “What’s up? How’s everything?”
“Um, I’m sorry to bother you, Chloe,” Benji stammered. “I’ve been trying to reach Beca for a while and she’s not answering. Do you know where she is?”
“She’s working,” Chloe said. “She said she’d be in the studio all day today so her phone is probably off or sitting on her desk. What’s going on, Benji? Why do you need Beca?”
“I don’t need Beca,” Benji said. “Stacie does. It’s about Aubrey.”
“What happened, Benji?” Chloe asked, standing and grabbing her bag.
“Stacie had to rush Aubrey to the hospital this morning,” Benji said. “She was bleeding and had some pain. Stacie thinks she’s having a miscarriage and is freaking out. She called me because I’m Aubrey’s family and local, but I’m at the Station and can’t get away. I think someone needs to be with Stacie and I thought Beca would be the best choice.”
“I’ll go,” Chloe said. “I’ll also get in touch with Beca to see if she can meet me at the hospital later.”
“Thanks, Chloe,” Benji said. “I really appreciate this.”
“I’ll call you later, okay?” Chloe said as she rushed out of her office.
Beca’s studio was on the way, so Chloe decided to go there first to see if Beca was able to go with her to the hospital.
“Hey, Mrs. Beale,” the security guard said as Chloe approached his desk.
“Hey, Joe,” Chloe said. “I really need to see Beca, can you call Dani and ask her to tell Beca I’m here and it’s urgent?”
“Sure thing,” Joe said, picking up his desk phone. “Yeah, hey, Dani, it’s Joe at the Security Desk. Mrs. Beale is here and says it is urgent that she needs to see Beca right away.” Joe listened, nodding his head. “I’ll send her right up. Thanks, Dani.”
Joe pulled out a visitor’s badge and handed it to Chloe. “Dani said for you to go right up.”
“Thanks, Joe,” Chloe said, rushing toward the elevators.
When she arrived on Beca’s floor Chloe was surprised to see Dani waiting for her when the elevator doors opened.
“Follow me,” Dani said, turning to head toward the studio where Chloe assumed Beca was working. Dani confirmed this when she added, “Beca’s still in the studio so I thought it best to just take you there.”
When they reached the studio, Dani opened the door and Chloe followed her in. Beca immediately looked up when she heard the door open and saw Chloe come in with Dani.
“Chloe, what’s wrong?” Beca asked as she stood. “Is Dylan okay? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine; Dylan’s fine, too,” Chloe quickly reassured Beca. “Stacie had to rush Aubrey to the hospital. Benji called and Stacie is alone at the hospital and freaking out. He’s stuck at the station and wants someone to be with Stacie. I told him I’d go but I thought she’d feel better if you were there, too.”
Beca frowned, trying to take in everything Chloe was saying.
“Beca?” a voice called out.
Chloe looked over and was surprised to see Demi Lovato standing there.
“Oh, Demi,” Beca said, looking frantic. “I’m sorry, I have to -”
“Go,” Demie said. “I heard everything, and you should go be with your friend. I’m sure she needs you to be there, more than I need you to be here.”
“Thanks, Demi,” Beca said, turning to Chloe. “I need to get my stuff from my office and then we can leave.”
“Okay,” Chloe said, following Beca and Dani out of the studio.
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Beca and Chloe rush into the ER waiting room to find Stacie sitting with her head in her hands.
“Stacie?” Beca called out, causing Stacie to look up. “How’s Aubrey? Any news yet?”
“Not yet,” Stacie said with tears in her eyes. “How did you guys know we were here?”
“Benji called me,” Chloe said, taking the seat next to Stacie. “He couldn’t leave the station and asked us to come to be with you.”
Beca sat on the opposite side and took Stacie’s hand in hers.
“We’re here for you,” Beca said, squeezing Stacie’s hand. “For both of you.”
“Thank you,” Stacie whispered while wiping a tear from her eye. “I’m so scared. I don’t know what we’ll do if she loses the baby.”
Stacie let out a sob and Beca pulled her into a hug. Chloe rubbed Stacie’s back as she cried on Beca’s shoulder.
Chloe doesn’t know how long they sat comforting Stacie when a doctor came out and called out, “Family of Aubrey Posen?”
Stacie jumped up. “I’m her wife.”
“Oh,” the doctor said. “I’m Dr. Winston. Your wife is being taken down for a C-section.”
Stacie reached out and grabbed onto Beca’s hand. “Is, um, is she, are they going to be okay?”
“Your wife will be fine,” Dr. Winston said. “The baby is in distress and we feel the best course of action is to perform a C-section to give your baby the best possible chance of survival.”
“Oh, thank God,” Stacie muttered. “Can I be in the room with her?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Dr. Winston said. “Come with me and I’ll take you to the operating room to get you ready.”
“Do you want us to call your families?” Chloe asked before Stacie could walk away.
“Uh, yeah,” Stacie said. “Beca has my mom’s number. You can call Benji and get Aubrey’s parents’ number. And let him know what’s going on, too, please.”
“We’ll take care of it, Stacie,” Beca said. “You go take care of Aubrey and your baby, okay?”
“Okay,” Stacie said as she followed the doctor.
Chloe pulled out her phone. “I’m going to call my mom first. Ask her to stay with Dylan until we get home. I’ll call Benji after.”
“Good thinking,” Beca said, pulling out her phone. “I’ll call Stacie’s folks.”
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Mother’s Day found Chloe sneaking into her and Beca’s room with Dylan as Beca lay sleeping.
“Wake up mommy, Dyl,” Chloe whispered as she sat him on Beca’s stomach.
Dylan flopped forward, nuzzling to try and latch onto Beca’s breast through her thin tee shirt.
“Chlo, stop it,” Beca groaned. “It’s Mother’s Day and I get to sleep in.”
Chloe giggled and Beca opened one eye to see Dylan laying on her while trying to suckle her breast.
“Ew, Dylan,” Beca groaned. “We’ve talked about this. Girls do not like guys who drool.”
“Sorry, mommy,” Chloe said in her baby Dylan voice. She chuckled and added, “Somebody’s hungry.”
“Can you get him so I can at least take my shirt off?”
Chloe reached over and lifted Dylan off Beca. Beca pulled her shirt off and placed her pillow behind her so she could sit up. Chloe handed her Dylan and Beca helped him latch on again and smiled down at him.
“Happy Mother’s Day,” Chloe said, smiling at Beca and Dylan.
“Happy Mother’s Day,” Beca said, cupping Chloe’s cheek to pull her into a kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” Chloe said.
Chloe laid on her side next to Beca, resting her head on her hand. “Have you spoken to Stacie since Aubrey and Emma went home?”
“Yeah,” Beca said. “They’re both doing great. Aubrey’s still a bit sore, but other than that Stacie said she’s in good spirits. I asked if they wanted to spend their first Mother’s Day with us, but she declined. She said they weren’t ready to take Emma out anywhere just yet.”
“That’s understandable. We’ll have to plan to go over there soon,” Chloe said. “Check in on them and introduce Dylan and Emma.”
Chloe suddenly sat up with a smile. “Wouldn’t it be something if our kids grew up together and became a couple?”
“That would be something,” Beca said with a small chuckle. “Oh, I have something for you, mama.”
“I, well Dylan has something for you, too, mommy,” Chloe said. “You’ll get it once everyone is here.”
“Okay,” Beca said. “We’ll wait and open everything later.”
Just then the doorbell rang and Chloe jumped off the bed. “That’s probably the caterer. I’ll show them where to set everything up and come back up to help get Dylan ready for his grandparents.”
~~ Our First Mother’s Day ~~
Several hours later, everyone was full and sitting around the living room talking. Beca was sitting next to Chloe on one end of the sofa; Beca was holding Dylan. Their moms were sitting on the other side of Beca, cooing over Dylan. Beca’s dad and stepmom were sitting side by side on the loveseat across from the sofa. Paul and Carl were in the kitchen getting everyone drinks.
“Hey, babe?” Beca said looking at Chloe. “Would you get the gifts we got for our moms?”
“Sure,” Chloe said, standing and leaving the room.
Paul came into the living room, carrying a tray with drinks on them. Carl was right behind him, carrying another tray with desserts. They moved from person to person, letting them take their drinks and a dessert plate as they went.
“The food today was wonderful, Beca,” Sheila said. “I think it was a smart move having it catered.”
“Thanks,” Beca said. “I used the same caterer our friends Stacie and Aubrey use for their traditional Christmas Eve dinner.”
“How are Aubrey and the baby doing?” Sarah asked.
“Aubrey went home three days after Emma was born, but Emma had to stay an extra week and was able to go home two days ago,”  Beca replied. “Stacie said they’re both doing well. We invited them over today but they aren’t ready to take Emma out anywhere quite yet.”
“That’s probably for the best,” Charlotte said. “Preemies are more susceptible to catch whatever is going around. She’s been through enough already.”
“Chloe and I are going to make plans to visit sometime soon,” Beca said. “We haven’t seen Aubrey or Emma since the day Emma was born.”
“Here we go,” Chloe said, carrying in four large gift bags and a few wrapped gifts of varying sizes.
“Let me help you,” Ben said, standing and taking the wrapped gifts from Chloe.
“Thanks, Ben,” Chloe said. She handed Sheila a bag. “This is for you but you’ll have to wait to open it.”
“Thank you,” Sheila said, smiling at Chloe.
“Mom, this one’s yours,” Chloe said, handing Charlotte a bag. “Same rules for you; no opening until I tell you.”
“Thanks, dear,” Charlotte said.
“Sarah, here you go,” Chloe said. “You know the drill.”
“Thank you, Chloe,” Sarah said, chuckling as she set the bag on the floor.
Chloe took the wrapped gifts from Ben and laid them on the coffee table in front of her.
“Okay, Beca,” Chloe said, sitting next to her wife and handing her the larger of the wrapped gifts. “You have to open this before anyone can open their gift bags.”
Chloe took Dylan from Beca and sat him on her lap with his back to her front. Beca took the gift and started ripping the paper from the box. Dylan grabbed at the paper and Beca laughed as she let him take a piece of it. Dylan giggled and waved his arms around, smacking Chloe in the face. Chloe gently took his arms and held them down; she smiled at him and kissed the top of his head.
Beca opened the box and found a framed picture of Dylan. He was wearing a firefighter’s uniform and Chloe’s fire helmet was sitting next to him.
“Aww,” Beca cooed over the photo. “He’s so cute. Where did you find that outfit?”
“I have my sources,” Chloe said with a grin.
“I love this,” Beca said. “Thank you.”
She kissed Dylan’s cheek and then kissed Chloe.
“Can we see?” Sarah asked.
Beca turned the photo around and showed it off to the grandparents. They all oohed and awwed over it. Dylan just giggled and put his fist with the wrapping paper in his mouth.
“Oh, no sweetie,” Chloe said, grabbing his hand and taking the soggy paper. “We don’t eat paper.”
Beca put the framed photo back in the box.
“Okay, grandmas,” Chloe said. “You can open your gift bags now.”
Each of the grandmothers opened their gift bags and lifted identical sweatshirts and tee shirts; each bearing the same photo of Dylan that Beca had received.
“Oh, my gosh, Chlo,” Beca cooed. “They are so freaking cute.”
“Don’t worry, babe,” Chloe leaned in to whisper to Beca. “I had one made for each of us, too.”
Beca leaned in and kissed Chloe. “You are the best!”
“These are so adorable,” Sheila said. “Thank you.”
“I love that I can show off my grandson in cold and warm weather,” Charlotte said as she put the tee-shirt on over her blouse.
Sarah just smiled as she, too, put her tee shirt on.
Beca picked up the smaller wrapped gifts and started handing them out.
“These are from me and Dylan,” she said, handing one to Chloe as well.
The women opened the gifts to find a mother’s/grandmother’s necklace with Dylan’s name and birthstone attached.
“It’s made so if we have any more kids we can easily add another name and birthstone to it,” Beca said.
“If?” Chloe said, looking at Beca with a raised eyebrow.

hi! beca and chloe from pitch perfect for the ship thing bc i know you love them 😌
Since you didn't ask for a specific bullet point i shall do ALL of them and you are correct i LOVE bechloe with my whole dang heart!!!
Who said “I love you” first - i think the first real i love you is said by beca. like i can see chloe telling beca she loves her but beca just thinks it's bc they're friends. but when they finally get together, beca says specifically "i love you, chloe" instead of her usual "love you weirdo/dork" and it hits sooo different.
Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background - they both do! i feel like chloe has a selfie of the two of them, while beca has a more embarrassing and funny picture of chloe (and chloe constantly tells beca to chnage it, to which beca simply says "nope")
Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror - oh this is definitely a chloe thing! tho realistically they always shower together so she only does this when she sends beca tasteful nudes from after her shower, drawing hearts and stuff around the mirror while she poses. it drives beca WILD
Who buys the other cheesy gifts - CHLOE she loves impractical gift giving and if she sees something that reminds her of beca she HAS to get it for her (or at least take a pic and send it to beca)
Who initiated the first kiss - definitely (drunk) chloe, my hc is that they totally kissed at hood night in the first movie
Who kisses the other awake in the morning - chloe, bc it is the only way beca will wake up in the morning lol
Who starts tickle fights - surprisingly enough i feel like beca would! she would do the whole "do you wanna go? come at me bro!" thing and they play fight A LOT (chloe could pin beca down literally every time but she lets beca win sometimes)
Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower - beca will ask, chloe will just hop in lol
Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch - during their college days, when beca worked at the radio station, chloe would stop by all the time to bring beca snacks bc the tiny dj has a terrible habit of not leaving to get food for herself
Who was nervous and shy on the first date - they both were nervous for their first date, but especially beca bc she has very little dating experience and chloe has tons. and i can definitely see beca trying too hard to be confident and suave but it fails miserably but it's okay bc chloe thinks it's absolutely adorable
Who kills/takes out the spiders - chloe takes out the spiders, bc she doesn't like the idea of harming a creature that is just trying to live it's life. unless it's ON her. then it is being shaken off and stomped on.
Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk - CHLOE FO SHO

During the time it took you to complete Experimentation, did you experience burnout? I only ask because literally any person with functioning eyes and ability to read can see how amazingly beautiful your writing is. And I can’t imagine the dedication and mental effort it takes to maintain such writing throughout the entirety of the story. Plus if i’m not mistakes I think you mentioned some time that you plan on continuing writing? I don’t want to jinx it because i’m super selfish and hope with all my heart that you do continue (totally cool if you don’t want to tho)! So unless it was easy for you and you’re actually superhuman, which I wouldn’t surprised if you are because umm have you read your work?, how did you overcome the burnout?
Okay, well, first off ohmygoshthankyou??? 💗That's so lovely. Secondly, oh my god yes. A few times. Still struggling through the last bout, I think. It's hard, it's been hard, keeping the train going. But a lot of that fuel or whatever came from you guys and messages like this. Yes, there was the desire to finish this story and finally tell it my way and get it out of my head, but you lot have kept me plodding along.
I've been writing for a long time, can't really imagine myself ever stopping completely. I'll probably take a break from Bechloe once this is done and focus on some ideas I've had for stories involving other fandoms, but I plan on continuing to write as long as my brain will let me. ☺️

Oh yeah, after a mini unplanned hiatus whilst things have been a little up and down I am BACK with a whole new AU, because why update my existing ones when I could do something completely new?? 😅 ANYWAY, I'm lowkey obsessed with this AU now so expect more soon, maybe?? Or who knows maybe I'll finally have my writing mojo back and I'll update something else I've been meaning to finish, wouldn't that be fun?? 😅🥰

Last Night Beca (4/4)
pairing: bechloe

summary:
The walk to the door began, as did Chloe’s wondering if she made a mistake by thinking she was up to the task of walking Beca home, no matter how much she wanted to.
Chloe thought it almost would’ve been easier if the singer had been unconscious so she could’ve carried her. Instead, Beca insisted that she could do it herself, staggered across the floor like a newborn calf learning how to walk, and tripped over a table, flinging herself into the doorframe at the entrance.
[seriously, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this. each comment I've seen on it has made my grinch heart grow 3 sizes. more things to come!! :) ]

Friday Night
Chloe was certain she had never been through anything as difficult as getting Beca from her stool to the entrance of the bar.
After telling Aubrey and Jesse that she was walking Beca home, earning a very not-subtle look from both of them that told her exactly what their assumptions were, she stood to help Beca off of her seat. That was difficult enough in itself, as the brunette felt like a ragdoll and almost collapsed in her arms. Beca began to walk to the door but only stumbled a few steps before turning around and insisting that she took a picture of Chloe and Aubrey together first, claiming that “it’s only fair since you took such great pictures of me!” The sentiment was sweet, but as she watched Beca sway as she tried to keep herself steady enough to take the picture, Chloe wished Beca was a little less sweet at the moment.
Then, the walk to the door began, as did Chloe’s wondering if she made a mistake by thinking she was up to the task of walking Beca home, no matter how much she wanted to.
“Oh my god ,” Chloe said with a laugh once she caught up with Beca at the door and led her outside. “You are a walking disaster.”
“I am doing just fine, thank you very much. Just needed some wonderful fresh air.”
“Yeah, totes.”
Chloe watched as Beca made her way out to the middle of the sidewalk on unsteady legs, apparently unconcerned with the people walking around her. Beca paused a few feet away from the bar and tilted her head up, prompting Chloe to ask what she was doing and if she could do it somewhere not in the way of the people trying to get around her. When the girl didn’t answer and kept staring at the sky, Chloe shook her head with a smile and pulled the disposable camera from her purse, taking another picture. She highly doubted Beca would remember everything about tonight, so the pictures would be a good thing to look back on, as well as an opening to hopefully see her again.
Beca was initially startled from the flash and then broke into a giant grin, stumbling the few steps over to Chloe. “We have to take a picture together!”
Chloe let her arm be yanked until she and Beca were positioned in front of the red neon sign for the bar and stretched her other one not still held by Beca out to take the picture. As she took it, she realized that she felt Beca breathing against the side of her face and turned her head slowly, feeling her heart pound with how close the shorter girl’s face was to hers.
“You weren’t even looking at the camera,” she said, trying to ignore how breathless her voice sounded.
“I assure you, I was looking at something much better.”
Chloe’s heart was racing as her eyes stayed locked on dark blue ones, unable to look away. She watched as Beca’s eyes kept flitting to her lips and found herself doing the same. Beca began leaning forwards to close the small gap and moved her hand to rest it upon Chloe’s cheek when-
“Wait! Wait,” Chloe said, leaning away to try to gain some distance. Beca’s face first looked adorably confused but quickly turned panicked as she jolted backward with wide eyes.
“Holy shit, holy fuck , I am so sorry, I just- I thought…”
“Beca, it’s okay,” Chloe smiled as she reached out to pull Beca closer again, trying to break her out of her panic. “Trust me, I really want to kiss you. But you are still extremely drunk and I don’t think that would be very nice of me.”
Beca had her brow furrowed in confusion for a moment, presumably trying to register the words in her drunken haze before her face lit up. “If that’s the only issue then that’s fine.” She began to lean forwards again, moving right towards Chloe’s lips.
Chloe clapped her hand over Beca’s mouth when she got mere inches away again and dissolved into a fit of giggles.
“Beca, I’m sorry, it’s going to have to wait,” she said through her laughter, having to physically hold the shorter girl’s face back with her hand. “You can’t even walk in a straight line. Once you can, we can discuss it.”
Once Beca took a few steps back, Chloe removed her hand from her face and observed the small pout that was uncovered. Just like in the bar, she couldn’t get over how adorable the girl was.
Chloe had been following Beca’s career for a couple of years now, ever since she was looking into one of her favorite songs and found out that the producer was very attractive. Once Beca had put out her first album, along came the talk show and radio interviews. There was something about Beca’s slightly awkward yet confident-in-herself demeanor that was the perfect mixture of being both hot and endearing.
Chloe was instantly hooked.
Now, looking at the girl standing before her who was steadily making the shift from Beca Mitchell: the celebrity to Beca: the stumbling and swaying twenty-something year old who was full-on pouting because she wouldn’t kiss her, Chloe was finding herself more than hooked.
“Come on cutie, let’s get you home,” Chloe said with a fond smile to the still-pouting face. She grabbed Beca’s hand and began walking, but not without noticing the blush that appeared on her cheeks.

Present
“Chloe, god , I am so fucking sorry.”
In plain and simple terms, Beca was fucking mortified . When she went out the other night, none of this was in her plans. She didn’t plan on getting shitfaced, she didn’t plan on meeting a pretty girl, and she definitely didn’t plan on making the pretty girl babysit her as she continuously tried to make moves on her.
The tripping over a table wasn’t in her plans, either, although the bruises she has been discovering made a lot more sense now.
“Really, it’s okay. Don’t worry about it,” Chloe said with a warm smile. “I literally told you I wanted to kiss you, just not at the moment, mainly for your benefit.”
Trying to compose the butterflies that began flying around in her stomach at yet another mention by Chloe about wanting to kiss her, Beca took a sip of her now second drink. “Well, I’m still sorry.”
“You’re forgiven,” Chloe smiled. “If you really do feel bad about trying to kiss me, though, you probably should hold off on saying sorry for now. You tried probably another ten times just on the way to the park.”
“I’m choosing to ignore that. How did we get to the park? I thought you were taking me home?” Beca asked as she tried desperately to fight the off waves of embarrassment rushing through her.
“You got distracted by the lights. It’s kinda like you were a moth, you targeted right in on them. It was very cute.”
“Oh my god, please don’t compare me to a bug.”
- - - - -
Friday Night
“Dude! Look at those lights!” Beca said, pointing at the lights strung in the trees at the small park they just approached. Chloe let herself be yanked along the gravel path, following Beca to a wooden bench where she watched on in amusement as the shorter girl flung herself onto it.
It had been about a fifteen-minute walk to where they were now, one that could’ve been shorter if her companion wasn’t hammered. In that time, Chloe had to pull Beca out of the way of three trash cans before she walked into them, tie her shoe because the brunette insisted that she couldn’t figure it out on her own, and stop her from kissing her about ten times.
All things considered, it was shaping up to be the best night Chloe has had in a while.
“Don’t go passing out on me now,” she said with a laugh. “I know I said I would carry you home if I have to, but you haven’t told me your address.”
“I’m not gonna pass out, promise. Now bring your pretty face over here and come sit with me.”
Chloe walked over to the bench and sat down next to Beca, not bothering to ask her to move over from where she was seated in the center of the bench. After hesitating for a brief moment, she reached over and clasped Beca’s hand in hers as she had on their walk, feeling comfort in the warm softness of her fingers intertwining with hers, only interrupted by a couple of cold metal rings.
“I know it’s probably super annoying,” Beca started, a slight slur still in her speech, “but thank you for coming with me. I have really liked it.”
“Of course. I’ve really liked it, too.” Chloe said with a smile. As she said it, Beca shifted, wrapping her arms around Chloe’s neck and swinging her legs across her lap. Chloe felt her breath hitch as Beca leaned impossibly closer and buried her head in her neck amongst her red curls. “Hey, Becs? Whatcha doing?”
A soft kiss was pressed to her neck and she heard a mumble come out, muffled against her skin.
“You’re really pretty.” Another kiss. “And nice.” Another. “And your skin is really soft.”
Chloe screwed her eyes shut at the sensation and tried to muster any of her self-control that was left to hopefully stop herself from tackling the other girl and kissing her senseless.
“I’m going to take another picture, okay?” she said, her voice coming out much shakier than she had been hoping.
“Mmkay.”
Chloe reached for her purse on the ground, a much more difficult task than it had to be with Beca still wrapped around her, and dug the camera out of it. She stretched out her arm and before she clicked the button, she twisted her head to the side and placed a small kiss on the top of Beca’s forehead. She let her lips linger there as the flash went off and interrupted the soft glow from the lights in the trees behind them.
After placing her camera and purse on the ground again and leaning up, Chloe was greeted by Beca staring right at her with a giant grin on her face.
“What’s that face for?” Chloe asked as she began to mirror the smile.
“You kissed me!”
Beca looked positively elated and Chloe couldn’t hold in her laughter. “You just kissed me three times, I figured I could return the favor.”
“If that’s the case…” Beca began with a smirk, slowly moving her hand over and laying it on the top of Chloe’s leg. “You owe me two more.” Her fingers were moving absentmindedly across the bare skin of Chloe’s thigh and her eyes were watching her with an intensity that hadn’t been there moments ago.
Chloe struggled to contain the emotions she was currently feeling. Just as she had crossed the line from being Beca Mitchell to just being Beca, Beca was steadily crossing the line from being adorable to being really unfairly hot with each passing second.
Chloe wasn’t sure if she’d survive it.
Deciding to go with the safest option that the request suggested, she gently grabbed Beca’s face and turned it to look forwards again before slowly leaning in. When her lips connected with Beca’s cheek, she heard a shaky inhale and couldn’t help the smirk that ended up pressed to the skin.
When she pulled back, she saw that her lipstick for the night was prominently displayed in a perfect mark on Beca’s face.
“This lipstick is really putting in some work tonight. Sorry about that,” Chloe said as she slowly traced around the print with her thumb.
All Beca had to say on the matter was a quiet asking of “One more?”
While the first two kisses had been innocent, as she took in the flush on Beca’s cheeks paired with the memory of her lips against her neck, Chloe truly couldn’t help herself. In a split-second decision, she stood up from the bench to position herself in front of Beca, giggling at the small whine that came out of the singer at her movement.
“Patience is a virtue, Beca.”
Chloe brushed Beca’s hair off of her shoulder and held it at the back of her head, tilting her slightly with her grasp. Leaning down slowly, she pressed her lips to the side of Beca’s neck and reveled in the whimper she heard. Before backing away she gave the skin a slight nip and reflexively tightened her hand in the soft locks of hair at the small moan that bubbled out of Beca’s throat.
“How’s that?” she asked as she straightened up to put some space in between them before she really lost control.
It seemed that Beca had been rendered speechless at that, as she just sat on the bench staring at her with a furious blush on her face. Shaking her head in disbelief at the turn her night took, Chloe grabbed her camera once more and took a picture, needing proof that this memory that would stick with her forever had actually happened.
- - - - -
Present
“Were you trying to kill me?”
“You are so dramatic, I was not.”
“I think you were.”
God , how Beca wished she hadn’t drank so much that night. As Chloe was telling her about what happened once they were at the park, all she could think of was what else could’ve happened had she not still been falling all over herself.
But, then again, had she been sober, she probably wouldn’t have been so bold.
It seemed like Chloe would’ve been, though. The thought made her shiver involuntarily.
“You were the one who kissed me first! If I had been trying to kill you, it would’ve only been in retaliation.”
Beca faked offense at that, scoffing at the insinuation that the escalation had been her fault (even though it definitely was. Last Night Beca was known for being a bit of a ‘horny fuck’, as Stacie often put it).
“Maybe if you weren’t so hot, I wouldn’t have,” Beca said, trying to keep her voice accusatory.
She only realized what she said when she saw Chloe looking at her with an incredibly pleased expression on her face, and immediately felt her face heat up what felt like a thousand degrees.
“We’re going to come back to that later,” Chloe said with a smirk. “Do you mind if we take the rest of this retelling on the road? It’s getting a little late and I have work in the morning.”
Beca nodded her agreement as Chloe went to the bar to pay the tab and tried not to let any surprise show at the unspoken idea that Chloe would be walking her home again. She gathered her things, including Chloe’s dress, and met her over at the bar as she was signing her receipt.
“Good seeing you sober, Beca,” Jesse said in a teasing tone once she stood beside Chloe at the bar. “Will I be seeing more of you?”
It was a simple enough question; Jesse probably meant for it to be simple. An easy question of “Will you be coming back to the bar where I work?”, but as Beca looked at Chloe, meeting her light blue eyes with her own, she heard a question coming from Chloe despite the redhead not opening her mouth.
Will she be seeing Jesse more because he’s Chloe’s friend and she’ll be seeing Chloe more?
With her eyes still locked onto Chloe’s, Beca gave both a simple and complex answer.
“Yeah. I really hope so.”
- - - - -
Beca was laughing so hard that tears were streaming down her face.
“I’m sorry! She came over all starstruck and all you wanted to do was finish serenading me with some Avril,” Chloe said around her laughs that were honestly coming out more as wheezes. “I panicked!”
“That doesn’t mean tell one of my fans that I accidentally took drugs!”
“You kept trying to grab my ass! You seemed much worse than only drunk, it wouldn’t have explained everything. Don’t worry, I cleared it up afterward.”
The pair had been walking for around ten minutes now, neither of them being in any real rush to leave the other. While Beca was enjoying listening to Chloe’s dramatic retellings of Friday night, half of her brain was focused on the way that not even a minute into walking Chloe had grabbed her hand.
She wasn’t normally one for physical contact from near-strangers, but this?
This was nice.
“You were very sweet with her, though. It was really cute,” Chloe said in a softer tone, her laughing finally calming down and the wild grin turning into a gentle smile.
“Well, yeah,” Beca smiled back. “I get to live my dream, have to be at least a little appreciative of the people who helped me get there.”
Chloe kept glancing at her as they walked in silence for a few minutes, expression unreadable, until she finally broke the silence. “Then the live stream happened, which you saw. I don’t think I’m going to take up your offer for a restraining order, though.”
“You should. If that’s what I was like the whole night, you really should.”
The rest of the walk home was taken up by Chloe saying how while the walk from the park wasn’t as bad as the walk from the bar, it was still pretty awful- or at least would seem so to Beca.
She had tried to kiss Chloe again. Repeatedly. And when that didn’t work, she took up begging. Again.
For some reason, after all of that, Chloe had still been nice enough to walk Beca up to her apartment (“I was worried you were going to die!”) and somehow got convinced to play with her hair for an embarrassing half-hour (“You told me it was imperative to ward off your hangover”).
Finally, the two made it to the entrance of Beca’s building.
“The last thing you did Friday night was make me change into your clothes. You said it was for comfort but immediately after I did, you said that I’d have to see you again to give them back, so I don’t really believe that first part.”
“Like half of the other things you’ve told me, I’m going to ignore that,” Beca said, once again cringing at how awkwardly forward she had been.
“Your loss,” Chloe said with a grin. “By the way, do you have those pictures from the other night with you? I’m sure they came out super cute.”
Reaching into her pocket, Beca grabbed the forgotten pictures and handed them over to Chloe with a smile. Chloe was right, after all. They did come out super cute.
Beca kinda wanted to make fifty copies of all of them and plaster them over everything in her apartment.
She watched as Chloe went through them and at the same time, watched as Chloe’s smile grew wider and wider. After making it to the last picture, Chloe handed them back over with a smile still on her face.
“You can keep them for now. Maybe I’ll have you make copies for me.”
Beca was at a loss for words as she stared at Chloe’s smiling face, the photos safely in her pocket again. She knew the night was coming to a close and much like earlier in the day, she was faced with the question of what to say to someone who has given her the best night of her life.
Although now, it was two nights.
Luckily, Chloe decided to take pity on her.
“You know, Beca, there’s something I noticed on our walk home.”
Beca felt her brows furrow in confusion, trying to remember if she did anything else embarrassing or that would warrant teasing. “What is it?”
Beca watched as Chloe took a step towards her, closing the already-small gap that had been between them. Her heart began to pound at Chloe’s proximity and all she could do was stare into the ocean blue eyes as Chloe lifted her hands, one resting on Beca’s waist and the other coming up to cup her face.
“You were walking in a pretty straight line.”
“Was I?”
The last thing she saw before feeling Chloe’s lips against hers was that sickeningly-sweet smile she had been dreaming about.
The rest of the world disappeared around her. All Beca could focus on was the softness of Chloe’s lips and the feeling of her hand against her face. She moved her own hands upwards, immediately tangling one in red hair and the other in Chloe’s (her) sweatshirt and trying to pull her impossibly closer.
After what felt like seconds and eternities at the same time, Beca pulled away slightly, just enough so she could mumble out the only coherent thought in her mind (besides dear god, this is amazing ).
“Go on a date with me?”
Chloe’s smile was enough of an answer, but the kiss that followed cemented the deal.
