I've been doing a lot of thinking...and I feel like I need to scream this out somehow even though I'm sure it's been talked about before (and I'm putting it under a readmore because it gets long).
No matter what, in any playthrough you do and any timeline you create.
UNDERTALE is a game about guilt.
You have Toriel, so guiltridden she couldn't protect her own children that she devotes herself to never letting another child leave again. And then they do!! over and over again, that guilt compounds until it's the center of her life and every choice she makes!!
And obviously Asgore, so guiltridden that he couldn't protect his own children from humans that he spends the rest of his days trying to get out and get revenge on them--as if that will stop the voices in his head saying, if you had been out there with them you could have stopped it, you could have stopped those humans from killing your children, and maybe he could have!! Or maybe not!! He'll never know and it eats him from the inside out!
Alphys, oh my sweet summer child this fandom does not deserve you!! Alphys, so guiltridden from her own perceived failures as a scientist that she began to try anything, anything to make the King happy, and it seemed to be working at first, and then it was so everlastingly worse, how can you cause something worse than death?? without even trying??
And it shows up in little ways, silly ways, too! Ways you wouldn't even think about as guilt! Undyne! She feels guilty that she won't let Papyrus join the Royal Guard so she gives him cooking lessons instead! Papyrus feels guilty that he's not in love with you after one date so he'll "keep being your cool friend and act like this never happened!"
SANS MY BOI don't even get me started. His guilt isn't as physically obvious but he made a promise to toriel, he promised her he would keep the human safe, and in timelines where you save everyone he follows you pretty much all throughout the Underground (even if he doesn't do anything to help smh) because he'd feel guilty not doing it, and in timelines where you kill everyone he feels guilty for not stopping you, AND in those SAME timelines he feels guilty for stopping you because it means he's breaking his promise to Toriel to keep you safe I!!! This boy can fit so much cosmic guilt in him!!!!
Asriel! FLOWEY!! Do you ever wonder if he feels guilty about being the one to wake up again? The one to survive, when Chara had to die twice?? He sits at their grave and he will do anything, anything to drown out those thoughts so he befriends and kills and torments and it's all the same and it's all useless!!
And their guilt compounds each others'! Toriel makes Sans make that promise because of her own guilt, which increases his! Asgore's guilt is what pushes Alphys so far past the limits of ethical science, because he increases hers!
And all of this, all of this, ALL OF THIS pales in comparison to you!!!
You!! The player! You return to the Underground after maybe accidentally killing Toriel or a few others because you didn't know, you never wanted to hurt them!! You listen to Flowey and you come back and you save them all!
You! The player!!! You cry at the ending and you'd feel guilty, so guilty about letting them all go, wouldn't you? So you ignore Flowey's pleas to let it alone, and you come back again, you say hello to your dear friends but this time it isn't the same, this time you kill them all because you want to see everything this game has to offer, might as well get your money's worth, the fights are cool, right?? And then you get hit with the most unsatisfying atomic bomb of an ending and the only thing left is your own reflection staring back at you from the black screen of your computer as the horror dawns, what have you done???
YOU!!! The player! You go back again even though there is no Flowey left to tell you to, and you save them all again because I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry, nobody deserves what I did to all of you, and it's all good, nobody remembers, and then you get to the end. The game knows what you did!!! It never forgot, and it'll make certain you never forget either!! Guilt!! Guilt, guilt!!! It's baked into the code of this game!!
Anyways tl;dr, maybe it actually did make sense to give this game to the pope

Undertale characters see S/O break a bone and then S/O basically just does a Far Cry healing animation and doesn’t even care they got hurt.
Undertale Sans - He grabs your arm gently but firmly, with dark eye sockets. "b u d d y ? N e v e r d o t h a t a g a i n." He hated every second of it. What's wrong with you? Go to the hospital like a normal person, you're going to hurt yourself more.
Undertale Papyrus - He faints. First, the shock of seeing your leg on the wrong side triggered him, but you simply putting it back in place like it's nothing? That's too much man. He can take a lot of things, but this is a big no.
Undertale Toriel - .... She was about to heal you, that for sure stopped her dead in her tracks. She's speechless. And immediately turns into Goat Mom mode and starts lecturing you about how dangerous this is and how it could have hurt you even more. Now you sit down this instant and you let her heal you properly.
Undertale Asgore - He lived hundreds of years and still discovers new things. Though, that one is maybe a bit too much. The noise of the bone snapping back into place made him so uncomfortable he suddenly panics his way out of the house, pretending he needed to get groceries or something.
Undertale Undyne - She stares in awe for a few seconds. Then she explodes. "This was AWESOME. Do it AGAIN!!!" She's very excited about this. She's even ready to break your arm if you need it! Come on!
Undertale Alphys - The scientist in her leaves her body. Why even try? You clearly have no idea how to fix a bone. It's so dangerous and you just act like everything is alright now??? How??? You should be screaming in agony???
Undertale Frisk - Well they can do cool things too. Frisk immediately struggles to lick their elbow with all they have.
Undertale Chara - They roll their eyes at you. You think you're in a video game or something? They're not taking you to the hospital when you realize you're dying because of how painful this is. You did that to yourself.
Undertale Mettaton - He gasps, then runs to you with a camera. Can he break one of your bones so you can do it again and put it in his next movie? Please, please, please, pretty please....
Undertale Gaster - He hisses at you, all his goop puffing like an angry cat. This is the worst sound he has ever heard, please never do that again or he's going to blip into another dimension again!
Undertale Grillby - He stays neutral, but his fire body suddenly burns for real, which means you triggered him. And now the bar is on fire, and Sans is on fire, and all the customers are running in circles screaming for their lives. What have you done?
Undertale Muffet - No big deal, it happens all the time with her eight arms too. She doesn't even notice when one is broken with time, as she has seven other functioning ones. You're not special, who cares.
Undertale Burgerpants - Oh look at that. He's dating another weird person. Welp, that's official. He has a type apparently. He wishes he didn't have one. Why can't he date normal people who do things like normal people should?
Undertale Flowey - Did you just pull out the friendliness pellet he threw inside your arm with your teeth? "You can't do that! That's illegal! I just broke that bone, you can't fix it like it's nothing! Cheater!" He's so mad! Stop breaking his fun. He wants to kill you!
Undertale Gerson - He wiggles his eyebrows at you. You know his back is hurting as well, right? You know. A little trick like that could help like hell. Come on. Don't be shy.

Who will save you now?
Warnings: strong language, referenced suicide, violence
Featured Characters: Sans, Chara/Frisk (Reader), Flowey/Asriel, Wingdings Gaster, Asgore Dreemurr
Note: If you haven't read the previous chapters recently (maybe even if you have outside the past few days), I recommend giving it another read. It's definitely not a requirement, but I added some extra details throughout the story and a few more scenes, most notably in Chapters 3 & 9, that should help the ending feel even more satisfying.
Several years later . . . here's the next chapter.

From a single strip at the Underground’s heart, Waterfall tunneled away into a boneyard mess of caves. In one direction, the passage to Hotland sprawled in mushroom-light mazes and a boulder choke disguising Tem Village. In the other, a quiet bubble harbored a simple mouse, neck deep in plans to retrieve a wedge of crystallized cheese. Between them, from a silver door that had only been there sometimes, Sans stepped out into a flood of bioluminescence.
Though a door latched shut behind him, dark, damp stone replaced the surface he reclined against now. Its cold, unyielding texture met his fingertips, a reminder that there would be no second visit.
He clutched the spindly metal bars of that unnaturally gray birdcage. He tucked his chin over the iron rung at its peak, hardly dousing the light of the small monster soul trapped inside.
The task set before him was unconscionable. Even if he managed to survive . . .
“i can’t do that,” he had resisted. “i can’t kill Frisk!”
“They shouldn’t even be alive,” said Wingdings.
The words took Sans by surprise. He set his heels despite the encroaching void and a minute hand nearing his final stroke of midnight.
“oh, but ya want me to take this soul all the way back to asriel, huh?” he said. “make sure he survives? double standard, if y’ask me.”
"I didn't say it was fair,” Wingdings hardly breathed. His eyes gained urgency. “The human . . . might survive, if they're determined enough. But after you pull the lever . . .”
At that, Sans’ anger siphoned away, leaving behind a fear much broader than the fate of one human child. Their mistake had set so many events into motion. Lives had been built and destroyed, paths forged and buried. The machine could rewrite the course of everything as easily as it could leave the butterfly effect intact. They could remain here in the present or be sucked back to the day it all began. With a phenomenon this unpredictable, just about anything could happen . . . but whatever world they left behind, at least it might survive.
“if i do use their soul to run the machine,” Sans said more calmly, “what’ll happen to asriel, then? to me? to the underground? heck, what’ll happen to you?”
It was clear to Sans by the frown on Wingdings’ face that his brother had already considered this question. Despite his ingenuity, the once royal scientist only shook his head.
“I don’t know,” he said, “but I do know what’ll happen if you don’t.”
In the present, Sans beat his fist against the rock behind him. Why did it have to be so fucking twisted? Why his Frisk? And why did he have to be the one to do it? Maybe it didn’t have to work out like this. Maybe there was more time than Dings thought. Maybe he could find another way.
His phone buzzed rhythmically at his waist. He pulled it from his coat pocket and looked at the screen. The image of Papyrus illuminated those shadowy cavern walls below several missed call notifications. Sans took a deep, shaking breath, then another, and answered.
“pup . . .”
“SANS!” Papyrus shouted. “I’VE BEEN TRYING TO REACH YOU FOR HOURS!”
“oh.”
“I’M NEARLY TO NEW HOME. A FRIEND HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE HUMAN IS IN TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE DANGER! IS THAT TRUE?!”
Sans nearly broke down then and there. Though seeing Wingdings again had restored many of the deeper cracks in his soul, it still felt fragile, even more when considering the path ahead of him.
“more than true,” he whispered.
A patch of silence followed. Sans dropped his cheek to rest on birdcage bars.
“tell me it’s gonna be all right,” he murmured into the receiver.
“Sans . . . where are you?” Papyrus asked, more gently than was typical.
“just tell me, please.”
“It’s . . .” Papyrus sighed. “It is going to be all right. Now, WHERE ARE YOU?”
Hearing the words in his brother’s voice quelled Sans’ fear, enough to return strength to his limbs. He lingered on the phone a moment longer, as if the connection truly placed him at Papyrus’ side.
“meet you there,” he said.
Tumblr media
You followed in Asgore’s shadow, watching the folds of his cape sway and collide like cattails in the wind. His silhouette consumed yours. He could hold all of you in one hand, let alone the tiny red soul he sought to claim.
Past the end of that long hallway mirror of the Ruins, the barrier undulated with powerful magic. Its waves of golden white licked the crackled stone as if in search of escapees. It contoured Asgore’s silhouette in a crisp white line as he turned to face you.
That all-too-familiar smile prickled the fur along his muzzle. Looking up into his apologetic eyes, you remembered his hands on your shoulders, his all-encompassing embrace that threatened to lose you in his fur. The macaroni pictures, the crayon drawings, the sweaters . . . the buttercup pie. You shuddered.
“Human,” said the king of all monsters. His powerful voice trembled, and the earth trembled with it. “It was nice meeting you. . . . Goodbye.”
He held his trident firmly in both hands and lowered his head . . . but a stoplight glow kept his chin from falling too far. There you stood, hands outstretched, red soul hovering above your palms.
“I’m the last one,” you said.
Asgore stared at the heart-shaped spirit as if entranced. Its warmth illuminated your fingers with ruby firelight. It was in the crimson glint of your eyes, however, that he became lost, captured in the clutch of a ghost from years long gone.
“Do I . . . know you?” he asked, bewildered both by the situation and the question itself.
“Please, take it,” you said. Tears fell down your face. “It’s no good for anything else.”
Asgore’s eyes widened with recognition. “Chara . . . ?”
Intense heat flared in the hallway behind you. Before Asgore could say anything more, a brilliant ball of flame had launched him into the cavern wall. Flecks of gray stone spat out among a field of clouds.
You swung to face the spellcaster. Toriel stood framed in the doorway, her face scrunched in a scowl like a snarling lion. One smoking arm remained outstretched, clenched in a fist.
“What a miserable creature,” she growled, “torturing such a poor, innocent youth.”
You hadn’t known what path the timeline had taken or whether your friends would convene . . . yet Toriel had arrived, exactly the same as before. Though you may have jokingly called her “mom,” the name now rang through your head with the purity of a windchime in the breeze.
Undyne, Alphys, and Papyrus appeared after her, along with a swath of others you had met along the way. You wanted to tell them to turn back, that you did not deserve them, that if they had known the demon you truly were, they never would have wanted to be your friend.
Your color drained. As they approached, a web of vines crawled after them along the dark ceiling and cavern floors.
You ran to Asgore, who sat slumped amid rubble and a brand new hallway door in the shape of his back. He grumbled in discomfort. A layer of dust coated his royal robes and golden mane, which he shook like a dog. You slid to your knees beside him.
“Hurry, please!” you blubbered to the stunned monster king. You proffered your soul as if it were on fire. “There isn’t a lot of time . . . !”
Toriel snatched you back by the shoulders.
“What has come over you, my child?” she demanded. “Do you not know what he means to do with it?”
“Mom, I . . .”
“Frisk.” Her eyes had begun scanning the room in fright. “Where is Sans?”
Tumblr media
The path to the barrier gave Sans more difficulty than expected. The last time he had attempted these roads with fewer than two shortcuts, he had been a century younger and taking his time, mushroom hunting with young Papyrus. His limbs lagged behind his will. His breath rattled in his chest. Though his fingers slipped against that birdcage no one remembered, he refused to release its colorless patina bars. Everything depended on this.
He took what natural shortcuts he could—river ferries and elevators—but even then, the trip cost more time than he had bargained. At long last, he had reached the innards of Asgore’s home in the capital. He ran, huffing and puffing, down the golden tiles of the Last Hallway.
Even as he sped past, his heart ached to remember your meeting here. The flare of sunlight on your head, the even brighter smile on your face, the secret passwords on your tongue. . . . The memory of that pure soul compared to the corrupted one he had read beside the rift overwhelmed him, and he paused. He touched a hand to the white pillar that once occluded him.
Who were you now? Frisk? Chara? Both? If Chara truly were your forgotten name, if everything he knew about the tragedy of Asgore’s children had happened to you, such terrible memories weighed down on your tiny shoulders. It did not surprise him, then, that your violence had escalated to remember those horrors. Ferocious thorns had been hiding in the soft petal corona of your soul, and neither of you had known it.
Clinging tightly to the forgotten prison in his hands, he buried his sentiments and tore through vine-swathed hallways into a dark passage. He skidded to a halt just past the silvery stone archway to the barrier, where his bones clattered with shock.
The cavern pulsed in radiant waves like the steady spin of a lighthouse beacon. Twisting, thorny roots filled the cavern like a briar patch, and their position changed with every flash of light. Among the vicious mess of chloroplast, monster figures had been tangled, their souls nearly devoured.
The dimming pinpoints of Sans’ eyes could not peel away from your small form, crumpled on the floor before a yellow flower. Your red soul snapped among his vines, barely shimmering in a ruby remnant before splitting apart into nothing.
Sans could not stifle the horror that clawed its way out his mouth. He nearly dropped the cage.
Flowey turned to grin at him. “Trash day already?” he asked, spinning his head in a full circle.
Sans shook. No. This couldn’t have happened. You couldn’t have fallen to that little heathen daisy so quickly. You couldn’t have lost your determination. If only he hadn’t lingered in the hallway. If only he had kept running . . . !
Tumblr media
You blinked at the human soul still hovering in your outstretched hands. It glowed red, though not as brightly as it once did. Still alive. Still yours to give. Not torn to bits by a nihilistic plant.
Only moments ago, you had fallen to a flower, the same flower weaving his way into this chamber of darkness and light. Toriel’s hands rested heavily on your shoulders. Papyrus chattered away, as Asgore pleaded with Toriel to give him a second chance. While they were distracted, Flowey dug his way out of the earth, grinning deviously, ready to spring all over again.
Confusion waltzed with your mind, spinning you gently. You had experienced this rush backward a thousand times before. Just a short step in reverse to let you continue after falling or if you disliked the outcome . . . but you did not have the determination to do it now. You had intended to die. You had meant for one of two creatures to take your power and be done with it.
It hadn’t been you.
Tumblr media
The world shifted. Time rushed away like the tide, back into the ocean depths. Darkness bled away into golden sunlit tiles and stained glass windows. Birds chirped among a distant rustle of leaves. The air danced with prisms for a fleeting moment before the world reappeared as it had only moments before.
Sans realized suddenly that he stood in the Last Hallway all over again. A glittering pocket of magic danced like a handheld star beside him, where he had touched the pillar and remembered you. It had not been there before.
Air filled his ribcage in jagged gasps. His soul burned as it usually did when you reset time, though somewhat gentler. His hands shook around the bars of that monochrome birdcage with fear, confusion, and exhilaration.
He had just turned back time. He could feel it. And if that were the case . . .
He ran. He sprinted faster than ever to reach you, but you lay still on the floor again. Though uncertain how, and though it hurt him, he turned back the clock a second time. Then a third. Then a fourth. Every time, the flower tore apart your soul like a horror movie on repeat, until finally, Sans arrived one split second earlier. Your soul spun a circle above you as if hanging from a string, and a ring of white pellets had only begun readying itself to deliver the killing blow.
Before Sans knew what he was doing, he was charging Flowey through a rough shortcut, foot extended to drop-kick the weed down into his roots. That cursed dandelion’s shriek had never sounded so satisfying. Sans’ dragon skulls had already manifested over his shoulders, jaws aflame—but when they blasted blue-hot magic out their mouths, Flowey had already disappeared into the earth.
A whip of green struck the ground where Sans had stood. He skipped out of the way in the nick of time, then again, and again, and again. He punched his free hand to the ground, and a wave of long, white magic bones crashed down through the air like meteorites. They speared into the cave floor with enough force to run cracks through the ceiling. Clouds of rock sprinkled down onto his shoulders. Flowey’s grip on his friends and family slackened just an inch.
Flowey surfaced again, undamaged beyond a few frayed petals.
Sans panted, his adrenaline quickly plunging. His bones began aching again, though his raging soul burned brightly through its seams. Sweat slipped down his skull into the neck of his shirt. He didn’t know if he could withstand this much longer. He did not know if his soul could survive another time jump.
“Ha,” chirped the little flower. “Looking pretty rough, there, old pal." His eyes glinted red within the skull-like hollows of his face. "Poor, flimsy little monster souls. Why bother trying? Even Chara was no match for me, and they were a million times stronger than you’ll ever be!”
Sans knew he was right. He did not have the full resilience of a purebred human. Even you had to try several times before making it past this bitter herb. Who in their right mind would bet on him: half blind, right arm nearly useless, only one HP? Just like every moment in his life, he would find a way to fuck this up. Just like every other time before, he would be useless to help.
His hope dwindled down, as did the fire in his soul. He could not find the strength to evade the string of bullets shooting toward him, but they were serendipitously blocked by a fence of small white bones.
“DON’T LISTEN TO HIM, SANS!” said Papyrus through clenched teeth. “YOU. CAN. WIN!”
“We are here to help you,” said Toriel. “No matter what happens.”
“Statistically it’s impossible,” said Alphys, “b-but you’ve beaten the odds before! I know you can do it!”
“Fuck you, Sans,” said Undyne.
Everyone looked at her. She shrugged.
“Sans,” said Asgore. “Listen to me.”
Sans clung to the bars of the birdcage more tightly, eyes glued to the smirking flower afar.
“You are not just your father’s son,” said the king of the Underground. “You have more than magic running through your veins. Remember that . . . and stay determined!”
Sans’ white pupils snapped to Asgore’s blue and brown at once. The statement had struck him somewhere deep beyond the monster white shell of his soul, and still more words passed between them unspoken. Sans then dragged his gaze across all his friends, who looked back with steadfast confidence, even Undyne.
Flowey coiled down on himself, pretending to be scared. “Urgh, no!” he whimpered. “Unbelievable! This can’t be happening! I can’t possibly withstand all of you . . . you . . . !” His face contorted into his evilest grin. “Idiots.”
His vines snapped taut around every monster, and yet another thorny coil snatched Sans from the ground as well. Through ropes of green and brown, Sans watched your red soul go down the flower’s throat, sealed behind hungry white fangs within a golden crown. Then, everything became lost in a flash of white.
Clang.
Sans moaned. Between that blitz of light and now, he had dropped to his hands and knees. His palms felt scorched—and dreadfully empty. Ahead of him, the last withering wisp of gray silver bars dissipated into the air as if made of smoke. Seeing it clawed the magic away from his bones with every mounting breath. His eyes became hollow.
The cage was gone—really, truly gone. Not even a step backward in time could bring it back, and with it, Asriel’s soul. Sans felt the world bottom out. Had he really failed, after everything?
A voice cackled overhead. “Finally,” it said. “I was so tired of being a flower.”
Sans looked upward and blanched. Aside from a few drawings you had scribbled out as a child, he had never witnessed this ungodly creature of countless souls. Sans had only been consumed by him, a coal block among many to fuel his hate. Now, Asriel Dreemurr hovered overhead in all his glory, raging with deathly power in a kaleidoscope of energy. No wonder you had nightmares.
Past the wreckage of their earlier fight, your body still lay heaped on the floor among stone and dead vines, seemingly asleep. As Sans crawled close, tears threatened to form.
He bit them back. No. He needed to hope. He needed to dream. He needed to be determined that he could call you out from the darkness, just as you had done for him a hundred times. It was his turn, now. Everyone would make it to the other side . . . including Asriel.
“Huh?” Asriel grunted as he caught wind of Sans below. “What are you still doing here? I ate your soul, you dirty lawn bag!”
“grass not,” said Sans as he stood, dusting the dirt from his jacket with his left hand.
“Ugh.” Asriel pinched his muzzle exasperatedly. “So annoying. How many times have you died now? Thirty-five? Thirty-six?” He thrust a rocket’s flare at Sans with a wicked smile. “Thirty-seven?!”
Sans gathered your body into his arms and stepped into a last-minute shortcut, safely away from that raw magical surge. After hiding your figure inside an Asgore-shaped wall hole, he flitted through the blue light of a portal once again. He reappeared in the air, directly in Hyperdeath’s path, only inches from his head.
“bone apétit, fucker,” he said and threw a handful of small bones at Asriel’s face. Though they caused no significant damage, they certainly got his attention.
Sans landed on all fours and scrambled. Bullets, fireballs, shooting stars, and lightning strikes raged after him. They left craters in the ground and drove deeper cracks into the ceiling overhead. Stalactites fell and shattered. Sans dodged every one of them. His body thoughtlessly followed the part of him that knew how to survive but had no time to ask permission, so begged forgiveness instead.
As Asriel Dreemurr took a moment to lift his hands, Sans struggled to catch his breath. His hood smelled of smoldering keratin. Holes had been burned through his sleeves. His body felt slick and ashen against his jacket’s cotton interior. The bones he had tossed like a scoop of dog biscuits into Asriel’s face had been the last magic he could muster. Whatever great power the prince of the Underground gathered now, Sans doubted he could survive it.
The world darkened. Sans could no longer see Asriel or the barrier, not even his hands if he raised them. Everything had become silent except the paddle of his own breath.
A skull three times his size suddenly materialized from the shadow. In appearance, it reminded him of those he and his siblings had mastered, though its horns and features mirrored Asriel instead. It laughed in his face—a grim, bone-chilling sound like grating rocks—but Sans stood firm. Brilliant red rage and determination surfaced among the cracks of his soul. How dare Asriel steal from Papyrus? How dare he turn Sans’ own family magic against him?
Waves of light drew into the open bowels of its snakelike gullet. Debris ran past his ankles, recalling images of a lab in shambles, a brother consumed by a beast of timeless indifference. He braced himself, ready to dive into the darkness as he did then and save the ones that mattered most.
A flash of brightness burst over him once more. This time, it ripped the soul from inside him and shattered it into pieces.
His mind floated through an abyss, bursting with the fireworks of everything at stake. He thought of Papyrus, never seeing sunrise; Toriel, never knowing the love of a new family; Alphys, never seeing the true greatness inside herself; Undyne, never free to explore the world; Asgore, failing his people. He thought of you, swallowed in the belly of the very thing you had sought to save. He thought of the entire world, destroyed by the god of hyperdeath, eaten alive by a hungry rift in time. The pieces of his soul quivered in a glow of crimson, ready to disperse.
*But it refused.
The shards sewed back together. A burst of bright red coursed through him like a new flame that had waited a lifetime to be struck. He had to live. He needed to live. He wanted to live! The darkness faded away, and soon the pulsing light of the barrier greeted his eyes once again.
He gaped at his shaking hands, eye sockets wide with confusion and amazement and, more than anything, determination. His soul felt aflame with a ruby-red blaze that forged the bleeding cracks of every pain, every hardship, and every sorrow into an armor stronger than the thickest alloy.
Asriel’s final form hovered ahead of him. Giant wings had sprouted from his back, flaring with blues, reds, greens, and purples. His teeth bared in needle points to rival Undyne’s, seething with fury and frustration.
“YOU . . . GARBAGE BIN SKELETAL FREAK!” he screamed. “WHY? WHY CAN’T YOU DIE?!”
Sans realized very suddenly he couldn’t move. Asriel’s true power had run rampant through the air, cocooning him in a chrysalis of magic he could not escape. He struggled with no result. With no way to resist, Asriel’s attacks barreled into him again, and again, and again. Every time his brightly burning soul rebuilt itself, a little was lost along the way.
“I can feel it,” Asriel growled with relish. “Every time you die, your grip on this world slips away. Every time you die, your friends forget you a little more. Your life will end here, in a world where no one remembers you.”
Sans thought of Windings, lost in a hell of the same description. He recalled how determined his brother had been to hold that same world together in one piece, forgotten or not. Sans could not fail him again, not here, not now, not after how hard Dings had tried, not when all his hopes were so invested in his success. His brother’s words rang through Sans' head, the last he would speak before the ghost of a gray door had separated them.
“I want you to know,” Wingdings had said, “I believe in you more than I believe in anyone else.”
“heh, yer jus’ tuggin’ my tibia . . .”
“For Tesla’s sake, Sans,” Dings snipped. “Can you just, for a second, let me spoon-feed your imperceptibly minuscule single-cell petri dish of a trait you call your self-esteem?” He took a deep breath and steadied. “I know it might seem like you’re my only option,” he said, “but you’re the best option I could have ever hoped for. My big brother. The one who sticks it out through thick and thin. The one I could always rely on to come through for me. You can do this. You can save everyone. I know you can. So, please . . .
“. . . don’t give up.”
Sans closed his eyes and reached his heart out to Asriel’s amalgamation of souls. His friends and family were there somewhere. He could save them. They believed in him. Dings believed in him. His determination to save everyone bled through the confines of Asriel’s magic, and deep inside that monstrosity, something began to stir.
Darkness closed in and images of his friends materialized, though their faces could not be seen behind swimming, fragmented blurs of pitch. Toriel, Papyrus, Asgore, Alphys, and Undyne stood like statues in a ring around him. Under their breaths, they mumbled their deepest wounds aloud: loss, rejection, loneliness, guilt, and captivity.
Sans stared up at his little brother’s towering silhouette, shaken to see him so reduced.
“hey, puppy . . .” he began. He inched nearer. “‘member me?”
Papyrus did not acknowledge him beyond summoning a few bones, which promptly flew in his direction. They were nothing compared to what Asriel had been punting his way. Sans stood perfectly still to allow a large blue femur to pass harmlessly through his forehead, then teleported behind him. He wrapped his arms around his waist until his face lay cradled in the lower curve of his spine, as if it were fashioned to hold his head.
“is that any way to treat your big bro?” he asked quietly. He searched his head for his worst possible joke and turned to the remaining souls. “uh . . . w-whatcha all starin’ at?”  He whipped out a finger gun as nonchalantly as possible. “never metacarpal of skeletons before?”
A long, silent moment passed. Then, Papyrus groaned. So did Undyne. Toriel giggled alongside Alphys with a snort. Asgore only sighed.
Sans beamed, then dodged what he saw as a well-deserved barrage of attacks from all five of his monster friends.
“hey, undies,” he said to Undyne past the quick flash of a blue spear. “i liked the tuna your piano. think you can teach me some scales?”
A similar response. Another wave of dangerous magic.
“knock, knock,” Sans said to Toriel. A hand of fire tried and failed to snatch him off the ground. He brushed off the heat. “i’ll take that as a ‘who’s there’. it’s yer local sentry, sans gaster!”
Toriel mumbled incoherently, but her last words sounded clear: “. . . Sans Gaster who?”
“yeesh,” Sans said, tugging at the neck of his shirt. “and i thought we were friends!”
Toriel laughed, then, revealing her face in a glorious burst of joy. Papyrus groaned more loudly than ever into existence.
“THAT’S ENOUGH BOONDOGGLING, SANS!” he shouted.
“i think you mean bone-doggling.”
“I DO NOT!” Papyrus stomped his foot.
With that, the rest of his friends returned to themselves, holding their stomachs or their heads in laughter. Sans wiped a joyful tear from his eye. By then, Papyrus had swept him off his feet into the tightest hug he could muster, which might have broken a rib were they more than specters. The remaining crew piled in: Toriel, Alphys, Asgore, even Undyne. In that one gesture, Sans’ soul swelled with hopes and dreams and burned brighter than ever.
“You’re d-d-doing great!”
“We’ve got your back, punk.”
“We believe in you.”
“heh . . . i’m rootin’ for me too, i guess,” Sans agreed bashfully.
“THAT’S THE SPIRIT,” Papyrus said, then lifted his eyes over Sans’ shoulder. “ONLY ONE MORE TO GO.”
As he said it, their images dissipated. Sans turned to follow Papyrus’ gaze. Another figure stepped from the shadow, eyes burning red through a shifting black cloud. A blood-red knife glinted in your hand. Your ruby soul quivered in the pit of your chest, a beacon through the dark.
“kiddo,” Sans breathed.
You shambled forward and blindly slashed for his neck. He side-stepped the sloppy cut. Your blade lodged into the unseen ground, so deeply it took a few tries to pry it out. Like a marionette, you lolled about to face him.
“It’s all my fault,” you murmured. “All my fault.”
“that ain’t true,” said Sans. He grimaced and ducked another swing. “you’re a good kid. you’ve always been a good kid.”
“I'm sorry,” you mumbled.
“why?” he asked. “you saved us. you saved me. you gave up your resets for it!”
Your razor-edged swipes and stabs began to falter. “My fault . . .”
“the only thing you’re at fault for is trying too bleedin’ hard.”
Though shaking, you continued to jab and swing your dagger with reckless abandon, and he continued to evade its path with infuriating precision. Whipping air and shuffling feet echoed through the dark as if you fought in an empty chapel.
“c’mon, bud!” Sans panted. Sweat had begun to gather on his forehead. “it’s me, sans!”
“Sans?” you replied in a fog. “Sans is dead. I killed him. It’s my fault.”
“i’m not dead. i’m right here.”
He came close, a breath away. Your knife grazed his cheekbone, revealing a stripe of red that trickled down into his shirt collar. As your arm passed his shoulder, he caught you around the chest and held on tight. He buried his face into your neck.
“i’m right here.”
At this, you froze. You held your knife shakily over his head, prepared to strike down into his back—but you didn’t. Though the black, jagged strokes of paint shifting about your head did not cease, the red of your eyes had dimmed.
“frisk. chara.”
He cradled your hiding face between his hands and looked into your eyes a long, long time. You could feel him reaching through your soul, judging you, reading you from cover to cover like an unlocked diary.
“it’s not your fault.”
As the words sank in, tears sprinkled down from that stormcloud between you, raining over your shoes and his. That dreadful, bloody knife clattered to the ground, and soon you followed. You sat seiza at his feet and clung to his coat, your face no longer shrouded. You sobbed into his t-shirt, broken, yet overjoyed to see him alive.
He hesitated, then slipped his fingers down into the deep brown thatches of your hair.
“You’re really here,” you said, looking up into his face.
Sans crouched down to your level and shrugged. “think so.”
“Am I dead?”
“uh.” He scratched the back of his skull and winced. “ya ain’t in yer body, that much is for sure. hopin’ you might join me on the way back, though . . . if you’d do me the honor.”
You hugged him again, even more tightly than before. Conflicted by memories old and new, shame hooked onto your soul with claws sharper than the dagger at his feet. His hand in your hair was all that kept you solid.
“I’m sorry.” Your tears fell faster as you considered the road leading you here. “I made you fall into the rift . . .”
“that one’s on me,” Sans said. “i knew what i might find down there.”
Your face sombered. “Did you find . . . him?”
Newfound brightness ignited his eyesockets. “he’s . . . alive,” he said quietly. He could scarcely believe the words. “trapped between time and space. it’s just like i thought.”
You were never more relieved to be proven wrong. Still, questions encircled your head like stars. Where was his brother, now? If Sans had gone to that place, how had he returned? How had he survived the rift, and Flowey no less? Was he the one turning back the clock? That should have been impossible.
As you extended a hand to smear the streak of red you had carved into his face, a terrifying thought occurred to you.
“Determination,” you breathed. “Sans, you didn’t—!”
“no,” he said.
“Monsters don’t bleed,” you said firmly in an attempt to call out his bullshit.
“not full-blooded monsters, no,” he agreed.
Several moments passed in which you digested these words, and what they implied.
His smile slowly fell into a grimace, a mix of regret and weary sadness. He sat down in the darkness across you. Here, the two of you were truly alone. He breathed in, breathed out.
“skeletons are kinda hard to come by,” he began hesitantly, “if ya hadn’t noticed. we’re only born under certain circumstances . . . with . . . certain parents.”
He lifted his head to the darkness above as if he might see the sky. A piece of him drifted away into nostalgia on Noctis wings. Bittersweet was the only word you could surface for his expression now.
“hardly look nothing like dad,” he began with a half-hearted shrug. “he was like . . . a dragon made of blue stars, a constellation in a nebula. huge, bigger than asgore. gast clan always was, compared to the dreems. i see him in my magic, though, sometimes. his face in my blasters, even if just the skull.”
You couldn’t find words. Surely he didn’t mean what you thought.
“don’ hardly look like mom, neither,” he said with a partial smile, “but we got her bones. we got her structure. i got some of her determination.”
“You’re half human.”
“i’m all me, thanks,” Sans snipped. Talking about it seemed to crawl over his bones like a spider bake sale.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you asked, genuinely hurt.
He paused and picked at the healing cut on his cheek. He rubbed the red fluid pensively between his thumb and forefingers. “everyone down here knows what it means to be a skeleton,” he said quietly. “i thought you knew too, at first. we all did. a lot of folks thought it was why you shacked up with us instead of tori.”
Your shoulders relaxed.
“by the time i realized it . . . honestly, i didn’t know how to tell ya, kid. it's a sensitive subject.” He drew his coat around himself more tightly. “we’re the only ones left, y’know; me and puppy-dog. and dings. when the war started, humans went for families like ours first. papyrus was a bean, dings was just the right age for it to hit him later, and i . . . i remember everything, as always.”
Your guilt ascended all over again.
“we were just kids," he went on, "but nothin’ scared those purist humans more than a fuckin’ mule.”
“i’m sorry,” you said.
“don’t be,” he murmured. “not your fault.”
“But it is,” you insisted. Your tears began rising again. "I’m human. I’m responsible. After everything humans have done—after everything I’ve done—I don’t deserve any of you. I don’t deserve to be here. You shouldn’t have saved me . . .”
Sans gently wiped your face with his sleeve. “lemme finish, kid,” he said quietly. He heaved a long, drawn-out sigh, as if releasing a toxin trapped inside his ribcage. “i got a reason to hate humans, sure. they drove us down here. they blocked us in. hell, even monsters gave us a hard time for that half of us. papyrus was so bent on catching a human just to prove what side he was on. thought people might like him more.”
You felt sick.
“but,” Sans said, forcing you to meet his eyes, “my human parent sacrificed everything to save us. she stayed behind so we could get away. so many of us are alive because of her. you wanna tell me that was wrong? you wanna tell me she was responsible for everything that happened to us, just for being human?”
Your tears continued to fall.
“you can’t help where ya came from,” said Sans, “but you can choose where ya go. and boy have you gone to some good places.”
“Like the dump,” you quipped with a faint smile.
“heh, yeah,” he said. “like the dump.” He hung an arm over your shoulder. “so maybe you’ve made some big mistakes . . . but your heart was never in the wrong place. you want to make up for it. you want to be good. that’s what really matters, right?”
You sniffled and nodded. You had said the same to Alphys. Were you really beneath your own advice?
He gathered you into his arms again. After a long time kneeling there, faces in shoulders, he helped you back to your feet.
“gonna need you to step in from here on out,” said Sans. “the chances hyperdoofus listens to me are about a million to negative one.” He smirked. “think you can handle it?”
You took his hand and squeezed.
“Only if you stand there with me,” you said.
His heart swelled in his chest. “i can do that."
Holding onto one another tightly, you stepped out from the darkness into a rainbow of light.

Notes:
And thus we have arrived at my third and final head-cannon: skeletons are what happen when a monster loves a human. I think my nervousness about dropping that bomb contributed to the delay in a latent sense, haha. Sorry for that again.
The idea of skeleton monsters always puzzled me, because in most folklore and fantasy contexts they have a direct tie to humans. Undead, more specifically. But in the context of the Undertale universe, undead didn't sit right with me. Skeleton monsters that conveniently mimic human anatomy didn't either. Then I had this thought. It explained several things for me: the blood from Sans' cut in the no mercy run, the reason he's so powerful, that "fourth wall" breaking tendency he and Papyrus both share... I massaged things some for the narrative here, but yeah.
I had been building to this a little bit as a possible reveal, then considered sidestepping it, but then as I really hammered out my ending it became an essential fact. I added more scenes and details in earlier chapters to get a little more traction on it, hence why I recommended rereading. :) Either way, I hope you find it at least interesting.
Thank you again to everyone who held on until now. Only three chapters left!
Next Up! Chapter 15: Determination.

Man it's been a long time since I've done an ask cluster! Let's see if I can get some down...
Tumblr media
He's an extremely fun character to write for and play with! So in that sense I'm fond of him, haha. He's such a huge disaster of a person, there's always something fun to do with him. Well "fun" in a relative sense.
I don't have anything to forgive him for, he didn't hurt me. |D He hurt the brothers!
Tumblr media
I do have an idea for a cute feature inspired by Six-Eared Macaque! I should really sit down and do that already... and finish the one I half started but never finished...
Tumblr media
I don't think my opinion on any of them changed! I love them all, haha. Which ones I drew comics about just depends on which ones I get ideas for really. Sometimes I get Alphys ideas and sometimes I get Goatparents ideas! Inspiration is fickle!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have any solid plans or anything. :B Just gonna keep chugging along with silly comics and art! Work on Defrag and such. I'd like to finish a Ladyverse comic I've had lying around forever, and I had vague plans for doing a doujin for them too I could work on... and also seeing if I could format Handplates into a book format... I've always got a bunch of projects, haha.
Tumblr media
It works on that level! It wasn't intentional though. |D
Tumblr media
I do enjoy speculation! I don't really have much of my own though, I didn't predict anything in chapter 2 so now I'm assuming I can't predict anything in the future chapters either, haha.
Tumblr media
Emesis Blue is great! Some really beautiful visuals in there, very striking! Love the mood of it too and a lot of the surreal imagery. I think it helped spur me back into TF2 again, haha. Medic and Scout's relationship was so cute.
Tumblr media
I have thought about this! It has its share of challenges though... I outlined them more in this post. A pdf would be more doable though... could even include some extra stuff as well! Hmm...
Tumblr media
I can see that! He'd probably spend as much time out in the rain as he could just doing whatever to stay outside.
Tumblr media
It was pretty much always going to end like that. I always wanted it to end on a hopeful note! Which might seem weird with how dark it is at the beginning. I DID for a brief period at the very beginning of Handplates think about stopping with the Pacifist run, but that was only because I thought going where I wanted to go would take too long and already the project seemed so dauntingly huge at the time, haha. But it was always going to end in a positive way!
Tumblr media
Gaster talks about what he originally intended to create here, and he explains a bit about the physical experiments he runs on the brothers here. They aren't really a solution in and of themselves so much as tools to try and find a way to break the barrier. Really though, Gaster got stuck in the sunk-cost fallacy lol.
Tumblr media
I don't really have opinions about what canon Gaster would be like. |D Handplates Gaster is his own thing really. Canon Gaster, who knows! Deltarune Gaster, who knows! I will say I hope Gaster stays a mystery in Deltarune and never actually shows up but I think the odds of that are really low at this point.
Tumblr media
I thought about doing a script along those lines! I did a few rough drafts of one, but it never really went anywhere... it'd end up dead-ending or kind of meandering off. I might see if I can get an actual script down for a side-comic or something in the future... it might be better suited for a fic.
Tumblr media
I was just thinking about this lately! I was picturing Gaster totally forgetting about that until he sees Papyrus squinting and is like OH GOD YOUR EYES THAT'S RIGHT D: and goes to get him looked at lol.
Tumblr media
I couldn't come up with a good idea for Flowey which is a shame, I do like him, haha. If one comes to me though I might make a little side comic about it!
Gaster's LV is complicated... his stats in-game are ludicrous if I recall correctly. Did he carry the damage from his murders into the void, even if those murders weren't his in the new timeline? Deep thoughts.
Tumblr media
He fed them anything he could find, haha. Which is why sometimes they just ended up with chocolate bars (which he intended as dinner for himself). He probably fed them more often than he fed himself lol. He did feed them fairly regularly though.
Tumblr media
Not about skeletons, probably. |D
Tumblr media
Man I know I had an explanation for this but it was so long ago... it's hard for me to remember. It could be that the Riverperson is just weird and has weird insight into elements of things, had a prophetic dream... I don't know! It bugs me now that I can't remember this, haha.

19/DEC/20XX
frisk nearly dropped their sled.
"...What did Papyrus just say?"
"you mean what he shouted?"
"Yeah, just now."
"While flying into the air."
"pretty sure that was 'shit' he screamed."
frisk was utterly shocked.
"Papyrus SWORE???"
i couldn't help but laugh.
"What? Are you not surprised at all??"
"not in the slightest."
"Papyrus doesn't swear, like, ever. At one point I was half convinced he didn't know what curse words were."
"kid, just because you don't hear it doesn't mean it doesn't happen."
"HE SWEARS?!"
"as does tori."
"MOM SWEARS?!?!"
"Actually."
"I can kinda see that."
tori, from across the clearing, made the arm of the snowman she and flowey were making wave at us.
the flower himself paused what he was doing to look over as well.
she said something to him. he then reluctantly waved with a vine.
"But not Papyrus. I can't see that."
undyne's sled flew from the top of the hill, bouncing across the snow with about ten times the speed anything should have been able to gain from that hill.
undyne was not on that sled.
up the hill, we watched a mound of snow explode into powder. the fish who emerged from it chased after the sled immediately.
papyrus, also sled-less, just slid face-down the rest of the way to the bottom.
"you good, bro?"
"IN OUR CONQUEST FOR GAINING SPEED, WE HAVE LOST OUR SLEDS."
𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘬.
(that's the sound a sled makes when hitting a skeleton.)
"...NEVERMIND."
grabbing the sled and hopping up, he put up a hand to block the sun while he looked for undyne in the clearing.
from the trees, she waved a warped sled.
"Found it!"
"your sled's lookin' a bit rough."
apparently not noticing this before, she bent it back into shape.
"All good!"
"Whoa."
"But is it still, like."
"Structurally sound?"
looking at the sled, then back at frisk,
"If it can't withstand a little use, then it sucked anyway."
undyne nonchalantly shrugged.
"I don't think most sleds get launched into trees at a hundred miles an hour as their average usage."
"Then this one's living the DREAM!!"
"DO YOU THINK SLEDS REALLY DREAM OF GOING FAST?"
"Of course they do!"
"Even if they're apparently not technically made for it."
"Who DOESN'T wanna go SUPER FAST?!"
she pointed to the top of the hill.
"Speaking of going fast."
"Let's GO already, punks!!!"
the three of them took off back to the top of the hill.
frisk tripped, and began sliding back down.
undyne caught them by the hood of the fuzzy coat they had on; continuing to pack them until they'd caught up with papyrus.
"she sure likes doing that, huh?"
i leaned onto my back in the snow to face grillby, who was sitting quietly on a blanket in the snow slightly behind me.
"how're you doin', grillbs?"
"....."
thumbs up.
"sick."
"thanks for coming along with us today."
"even if you're not doin' much, it's nice to have you."
"........."
"a sled?"
"i'm sure they'd let you borrow one."
".......?"
"that speed is a 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦."
"if you get on it normally,"
pointing to frisk,
and then instantly changing my mind.
we watched them resemble a star shape as they flew through the air into a pile of snow.
their sled hit undyne in the head.
she didn't even flinch.
...
did she even notice?
"...like what frisk was doing 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 those two turned them to the dark side..."
"you'd be fine."
"....."
when they rose from the snow, i waved frisk over.
"hey, kiddo."
"can grillby try?"
"Yeah!"
"But, don't-"
they looked over their shoulder at the mark they left in the snow.
"Don't do what I did."
"Snow piles are nice to land in, but probably less so for you I think."
"I'll show you what you're 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 to do. C'mon!"
at the top of the hill, i watched frisk give grillby instructions, then a countdown once he was on the sled.
i could probably walk faster than he slid, but he looks like he's having fun.
——
still watching 'em go up and down, taking turns with the sled.
undyne tried to convince grillby to go faster on it. he leapt off immediately when it started going too much faster, though.
——
oh. they roped tori in.
flowey won't hang out with me though.
he's still busy with that snowman of theirs.
——
"SANS! SANS!"
papyrus bounded over to me, sled in hand.
"yep?"
"YOU SHOULD TRY!!"
"don't have a sled."
"YOU CAN RIDE WITH ONE OF US!!"
undyne sped past us at mach speed, still on the sled this time.
"...OKAY."
"NOT WITH UNDYNE."
"AND I ALREADY PROMISED I'D LET THE HUMAN RIDE WITH ME NEXT."
"BUT MS. TORIEL CAN RIDE WITH YOU!"
"i'm not made out of rubber like you guys are, apparently. if i barrel down that hill in the same way-"
"PLEASE? IT'LL BE FUN!"
"I PROMISE MS. TORIEL WON'T GO LIGHTNING SPEEDS."
she waved from the top.
again, i waved to her.
"...alright."
"i'll give it a shot."
——
'i promise ms. toriel won't lightning speeds' he said.
now contradicting that statement, me and tori barely avoided collision with a tree.
"......."
"Well then."
"Are you alright, Sans?"
"yeah."
"......"
"just gonna keep holding my sides..?"
"Oh- Sorry."
"you're good."
"and that's..."
i rose and mostly unsuccessfully dusted snow off my coat.
"definitely enough for me."
"i'm gonna go chill on the blanket again. don't slam into any trees, alright?"
"We technically did not."
"ok."
"don't 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 almost slam into any trees, either."
"This old lady doesn't have nearly as much energy as the others do, so I will most likely join you here shortly."
sliiiiiiiiide.
there's alphys.
"...H-hi."
"Hello Alphys. What made you decide to come down here?"
her eyes slid between me and tori.
recognizing that face, i loosely kicked snow at her.
"no."
"No what? She has not done anything yet."
"yet."
"I won't say anything. Not now."
"Later though..."
"gonna block you."
"Putting a mustache on your contact photo."
"what, a bigger one?"
"Massive."
"really though. what made you come down?"
"Undyne."
𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘬.
(the sound of a crimson sled 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 hitting a short skeleton, instead ricocheting off a tree into the snow at our feet.)
undyne grabbed it and tossed it halfway up the hill like a frisbee to papyrus.
"What's up, guys?"
"Surely you must be doing it wrong..."
"What wrong?"
"How is it that you manage to launch the sled so far before you each time?"
"Dunno, but it's fun!!"
"Anyway, Alphy, come ride with me!"
"yeah, alphy."
"you wanna rocket down a hill?"
"U-Uh..."
undyne smiled at her, and alphys immediately caved.
"...Okay! L-Let's do it!!"
——
"oh my god."
papyrus landed in a tree.
"how, bro?"
"WWWAUGH-"
(the best description of that sound i can do.)
frisk became but a silhouette in the snow next to us.
"Nice landing, idiot."
flowey snarked.
"Thaaanks."
toriel shook her head.
"This is..."
"getting out of hand."
"Perhaps just a bit."
alphys and undyne drifted behind us.
frisk was still lying in the snow, fate accepted. flowey began poking at them with a stick.
i looked up at papyrus, who'd got himself untangled from the branches successfully.
less successfully, he whacked at his sled with another branch, trying to knock it down.
grillby looked up at the sled and held his hand out to alphys. undyne passed her own sled they'd been sharing to alphys, and alphys passed it to grillby.
he wound up - crouching slightly - and tossed the sled directly upwards.
it clacked against papyrus' sled, and they both came down; barely missing flowey.
"HEY!! WATCH IT!!!"
"......"
"he says sorry."
don't think flowey knows how to feel about grillby, so he just went back to poking frisk with a stick instead of saying anything else.
undyne kicked the tree. knocked down, papyrus then mirrored frisk's position in the snow.
".........."
"..yeah, i agree."
"grillbs says we call it a day."
frisk shot up from the snow.
"Aww, no!"
"The sun will be setting soon, my child."
counting how many of us were here, papyrus' sockets narrowed.
"WAIT. WE'RE MISSING TWO."
"are mtt and napsta still on the hill?"
"They were laying in that igloo, were they not?"
"Still?"
undyne watched papyrus run back up the hill to fetch them.
"That thing got boring fast."
"I-It was kind of nice..."
"there was an igloo?"
alphys wanted to point, but couldn't see it from here.
"Not a super big one."
"That's where I was earlier."
"It was off to the side, closer to the trees. I think Mettaton was worried me and Paps would wreck it."
on his feet, papyrus slid to meet us. mettaton held onto napsta and did the same.
"....hello..."
"Hello darlings. It got late much faster than expected."
"Greetings, you two. It really did. Time passes so quickly these days."
"Hii."
"..Howdy."
" 'Sup."
"Hi."
"......"
"HELLO! AGAIN."
"heya."
"𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘥 out up there for quite some time, huh?"
napstablook smiled a little at the pun. they definitely have a sense of humor.
"..it was fun today..."
about seven 'yeah'-s agreed with them, my own included.
flowey and (technically) grillby being the exceptions.
following that was a lot of 'goodnight'-ing and hugs.
by the time we left, the sun had already set.
sometimes it's easy to forget how many of us there are.
holidays get expensive.
wouldn't change a thing though.
i'd say
"it's nice."
...but that's becoming to me as 'cool' is to paps and undyne.
so, uh.
it's 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹.
hey, didn't say 𝙞 wouldn't use that one.

sometimes i think about the way asriel interacts with people and how he seems to believe that theres like. rules to friendship or something of the sort. maybe not Rules exactly but he seems to think there's a Correct way to act. he needs to do everything Right so he can get his Happy Ending. and the thing that really gets me about that is we only see him directly talk to two (2) people and that's chara and frisk. with chara it's like he's desperately trying to be as nice as possible and he just kind of goes along with whatever they say to keep them as a friend, and that only breaks once he feels like he's done something wrong (an example would be when he goes to asgore after getting scared by them). and how he says "i'd Never doubt You chara" despite obviously doubting this plan is so. yeah he's a people pleaser alright.
and Then there's frisk. flowey doesn't seem to see a point in befriending them for several reasons whether it's jealousy or an uncomfortable reminder of who he lost or that they remind him of himself. he talks to them as if he's thinking out loud, talking to himself. the only times he slips back into that persona is when he's trying to get the player to do what he wants like "oh maybe She has the key to your happiness :)" and this is Exactly why he NEVER believes anyone when they're genuinely kind to him. he thinks it MUST be an act because he thinks that's what his kindness is. he's so firm in his belief that he Must be terrible that he could never be genuinely kind or genuinely care about anyone. he's stuck in this cycle of self hatred from grief and his inability to Stop Masking For One Day Of His Life
so then it makes me think really hard about the way he interacts with papyrus. papyrus is really interesting cuz he's genuinely kind without just letting people do whatever they want to him. he has his boundaries and flowey knows how he'd respond to anything he says. and papyrus pretty much goes "wowww cant believe u would say that about urself" whenever anyone's a jerk to him which i'm SURE was amusing to flowey. we don't know much about how they talk to each other but they can probably understand each other's loneliness but i also think a lot about how sans says that flowey gives him praise and predictions. it just makes me wonder if he's Once Again falling back into his people pleaser habits with those he's fond of out of fear of losing them even though he knows how papyrus would react if he Was a jerk
flowey believing he can't feel and that this is so horrible of him is probably a result of him masking his whole life whether it's as the prince or someones friend and going "oh god this isnt really Me... what Is really me and did the Nice me die along with chara???" i just think. he's so unbelievably traumatized and clearly autistic (and probably has ocd tbh) and he doesn't know how to deal with it when he's done something that results in an unhappy end. that's Also why he blames himself so much he just thinks if he just did everything right everything would have turned out right. he's so well written in every aspect and it always makes me happy to see a well written character that i can relate to as someone with both ptsd and autism... thank u flowey i love u

undertale fan???
UNDERTALE FAN!!!
who's your favourite character and favourite boss theme?
(mine's probably asriel/flowey and/or mettaton and ASGORE is best <3)
*inhale*
*exhale*
Oh man I suddenly remembered how terrible and cringe I used to be back during my Undertale days AAHAHAHAH
ANYways
I had a HUGE fondness over Sans and Papyrus because I was a hardcore stan for the “Gaster is their father” theory. I still very much like that theory, even though it might be outdated (haven’t been in the fandom for a while because…I USED TO BE the cringe everyone hated about the fandom lol)
I genuinely like Alphys. She reminds me of myself. Awkward and very cringe xD. I really wish she had a boss fight though…
Flowey/Asriel was such a unique character that I freaking loved. Amazing backstory, tragic death, wonderful boss fights, and memorable moments. The way my jaw dropped when I saw the bullet hell EMERGE from Omega Flowey.
I will admit, I don’t remember much about what I liked about Undertale since it was from a terrible era in my life. A really…REALLY bad era. Most of what I DO remember is how I never did a genocide route because I couldn’t bring myself to actually hurt them in game (even thought my old ass fanart sure as hell did). Which means I never fought Sans. AND I PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY HHHHHNNGG.
I remember when the Undertale AUs were ALL the rage back then and I tried getting in on it by making a Bluetale AU where the roles of the golden flowers and echo flowers were switched and Flowey was an Echo flower whose echoes of the past haunted him. Also everyone was blue and gold because I was bad at redesigning nge everyone(I have the old art on my DeviantArt and I refuse to post them here lol)
I should probably stop talking because this ask took me WAAAY back. And I might ramble till the earth crumbles pfft.

what if there was like. an undertale/isat crossover AU
I am going to take this as a "Frisk ends up in ISAT/Siffrin ends up in Undertale".
(ISAT spoilers up to Act 6 including the secret).
So, Frisk in ISAT. First of all, Frisk is a child so the party isn't going to let them fight. Not that Frisk really wants to fight anyway, they're happy taking snack duty with Bonnie. If Siffrin is still around I can definitely see Frisk as not knowing what is going on but wanting to comfort Siffrin anyway but in the way they pour water on Undyne at Hotland. Frisk has a candy in their pocket and every loop they give it to Siff on the third floor sort of thing. They do this even if they are also looping Frisk is just like that. Now, if Frisk is the one looping and Siffrin isn't there that would be... fun. Especially if Loop is still as they are in canon. They would be wondering what this Small Child came from and what their deal is. They weren't here before. Frisk doesn't know either they fell down a hole and ended up here. A fun little bonus would be Chara also coming along to narrate. Chara and Loop would be fun.
Now. Siffrin in Undertale. He is not having a good time. Let's just say they're aware of the resets and take them as loops for this. In the first few he remains neutral, they're used to fighting on the road but only fights when he can't get away per Toriel's request (let's say that maybe Siff is too used to his old combat rules... maybe they wouldn't think to spare Toriel at a certain point. At least the first time but then Papyrus spares HIM and that's when they realise. That could even be when reset 1 happens because Siffrin just can't go on knowing this). Then after countless attempts at this is when the genocide route comes into play. Genocide route Siffrin is Siffrin at his worse and the underground knows (so sort of like Act 5). Yes Siffrin struggles at Sans and they probably view the guy as similar to the King by the end as the guy he NEEDS to defeat because why else would it be this hard. Then Chara appears and the world is erased and he's back. At that point Siffrin is too tired and that's when it finally clicks that sparing everything is how the game is played down here. Idk, Siffrin is very stubborn when it comes to things, they're certain that when the adventure ends everything ends for example, they view fighting as a way to survival since they don't really remember anything else. Of course if he is going through this with Frisk it's definitely different because he has to look after a child they don't want them to see all that unless absolutely necessary. Also they keep getting upset whenever he even mentions fighting. Pacifist route probably happens first try in that case.
Oh also there's a lot to say about Siffrin and Flowey/Asriel. For Siffrin to go through all of that only to be met with a kid who basically echoes how he feels about their family (don't leave me I won't let you leave me). Yeah. Especially if this is an universe where ISAT still happens and then Siff goes to the underground. He gets it. Also Siffrin interacting with Chara would be great it would be like of Loop commentated on every single thing Siff did all of the time but instead of a star it's this ghost child that started following them when he fell down here.

My Undertale AU: Yantale
I have a pretty good guess of what you’re thinking based on the title: “Oh boy, it’s going to be one of those AUs where Sans is a yandere for Y/N or an OC”. And honestly, no hate on those AUs. But this AU is a bit different.
Basically, it’s the same as Undertale, but there are certain choices/routes you can do to make different characters platonic yanderes for Frisk.
Flowey:
Interest begins when he tries to SAVE/LOAD/RESET and can’t. If you do 5 Neutral routes in a row with very different actions/results, Flowey will wrap himself around you and merge his DETERMINATION with yours, staying with you through RESETS and killing anyone you try to befriend. Pacifist Routes cannot happen. The only way to get out of this route is to do a Genocide, use your LV to disconnect and kill Flowey, and destroy the timeline. You’re the most interesting thing to happen here in a long time; how could anyone pass up this opportunity?
Nabstablook:
Interest begins when you come to his house. If you are nice to him through the Ruins and Waterfall and win the Thundersnail race, he will stop you from leaving his house. During this route, he will try to guilt-trip you into staying willingly by emphasizing his loneliness. You’re the nicest person he’s met in a while, why can’t you just stay with him?
Toriel:
Interest begins when you call her Mom. If you are nice to Toriel, call her Mom, wear the Faded Ribbon and Toy Knife, and run away from her during the fight, she will destroy the exit of the Ruins and successfully keep you there. She will see you as another child she needs to protect (and she is also projecting you as her kids).
Papyrus:
Interest begins when you ask him for help on a puzzle. If you are nice to him, ask him for help on the head puzzle, and are defeated by him three times, he will make the cage inescapable. He will tell Undyne that the human got past him and go on a date/hangout with you. You are his first and only friend, and you need his help; you can’t leave!
Undyne:
Interest begins when you help Monster Kid. If you are nice to everyone, help Monster Kid, give her water, and help her get home (Yantale exclusive option), then she will force you to stay at her house and train you to become a part of the Royal Guard. You proved to her that not all humans are bad and you have the guts and kindness to help the monsters and be a great guard!
Alphys:
Interest begins when you exit the Ruins. If you are nice to Alphys and follow her back after she tells you the truth, she will thank you for being with her even though she lied. She’ll show you the True Lab and tell you everything she did. If you are still nice to her, she will lock you up in her lab to keep her secret safe. If you are mean to her, she will threaten to off herself if you don’t stay and keep her secret. You’re just so cool and accept her even when she’s lied to you; maybe you’re the answer to her problems.
Muffet:
Interest starts when you pay for a pastry. If you buy one of her items, spend all your money while fighting her, and bought something from the Spiders in the Ruins, she will keep you trapped in her cave and help her cook. There aren’t many people in the Underground as generous as you; can’t have you wasting that on anyone else.
Mettaton:
Interest starts when the player finishes the quiz. If you pick the most dramatic results and play up the audience during the Mettaton EX fight, he will stop the fight and forcefully make you his costar. You have a knack at the spotlight, it would be a shame to waste such talent.
Asgore:
Interest starts when you wear the Heart Locket and Worn Dagger. If you wear Chara’s items, refuse to fight, and die 10 times, Asgore will stop fighting and forcefully adopt you (he sees his children in you). It’s clear you mean no harm, so it’s fine to keep you here.
Asriel:
Interest starts when you wear the Heart Locket and Worn Dagger. If you wear these items, forgive and hug him, Asriel will become too attached to let you go and keep you trapped and use the SOULs to maintain his form. The only way to get out of this is to kill Asriel (releasing the souls), RESET, and do a Genocide route (another Pacifist will make him trap you quicker and takes longer to gain his trust and kill him).
Sans:
Interest starts when you take his side instead of Papyrus’. If you accept his invitations, buy all his stuff, and go back to Snowdin after the Judgement Hall, he’ll be convinced that you decided to stay in the Underground because of him and be a bodyguard, not letting anyone but Papyrus hang out with you. If you RESET or continue, he’ll trap you in his workshop. If you do a Genocide route directly afterwards, Sans will believe it was to get rid of everyone else and be sad, happy, and guilty about being happy, and he won’t fight you (he’ll just keep you there). The only way to get out of this route is to complete a Genocide and destroy the timeline.
As usual, I don’t mind if you use my AU, just please credit me. Also, send me what you make! I’d love to see it.

My live Undertale Yellow Reactions - Dunes Edition Part I. - Ft Mines
Oh we western now?
Curse whoever programmed this stupid sandstorm
That's a rock
*Mo appears* MY MAN
"In case the conveyor belt ceases to work, fix it" sounds oddly like something a real company would say
How the hell do I fix the elevator
*Fighting Bowll* NOT THE SANS ATTACK
*While going through the falling rocks area* Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, Fuck-
Oh wow, they referenced the Tile Puzzle from Undertale
*Riding the minecart* Preeeetyyyy
I still have 0 trust in Flowey
Ominous Corridor is ominous
*El Bailador appears* TF are you?
"If I didn't know any better, I'd mistake you for a Sentinel of Silence" You're not gonna believe this pal
Are we seriously just gonna play DDR
Okay this looks more like Guitar Hero
Wait what do I do-
Why are we in Powerpuff Girls color scheme
Help why am I struggling
*Gets killed by Bailador's fake out* Oh go fuck yourself
I had to turn on auto rhythm but don't care, this motherfucker killed me like 5 times
*Lives on 1 HP* FINALLY! Now get out of my sight-
*Martlet appears* Hey girl, what's up?
Oooo we get a party Deltarune style? Probably just an overworld thing but still nice.
I hope someone makes a compilation of her talk options, cause I ain't gonna go back all the way to Snowdin to check every room. I did that with Papyrus and Undyne's calls in Undertale and I felt like I aged 20 years.
*Reacting to that one fortune* Are we.... Are we Frisk in a pervious life?
I legitimately spent like an hour playing Mew Mew Love Blaster and the only times I managed to get to the Final Boss (including my winning attempt) was the one where I didn't move. I let RNJesus take the wheel while I was blasting my love and it worked out.
Not the giant girlboss cactus
"Well well well what do we have here" Do you want me to push you into this well?
Flowey is being a jealous little bitch

Undertale platonic request male frisk x older brother reader who fall together both the brothers now will try to find a exit of underground y/n act completely overprotective over frisk then any monster try’s to attack or get closer to frisk headcanons
Tumblr media
1.This takes place during a Pasifist Route.
2. I really liked this idea so I did like, 8 times what I normally write.
-God, this sounds like a nightmare.
-Toriel would be so happy tho. Two children? Again?
-Starting off, you would immediately scold Frisk for doing something so reckless, and now to two are stuck down here.
-Flowey begins his whole things with "LOVE" and "Friendliness pellets" and you're just like, "No not today, no thank you" while pushing Frisk.
-You end up running into Toriel not long after.
-"Oh dear, are you two lost? Here you can follow me back to my house. It is not long from here children."
-But you know better, you've heard stories about these monster, and their all bad and nothing could change them. She's just acting kind to get you and Frisk to trust her and then stab you in the back when you don't expect it.
-"No, we're fine. We don't need a monster's help." Which resulted with Frisk hitting you on your side from your remark. "What? I'm not wrong, you don't know what her motives are, she could be dangerous!"
-You end up following Toriel regardless of your reasons.
-She begins the actual teaching of how to do a battle, while you carefully watch.
-After getting to her house and she tells you and Frisk to lay down, you refuse and sit watch Frisk pass out. Saying you're going to protect them.
-Toriel later comes in with two slices of pie, which you rejected says it could be poison. When Frisk woke up you told them not to eat it, but they took it regardless.
-As soon as Toriel starts fighting you tell Frisk you knew this was going to happen and we could have avoided this if they had listened to you.
-Once outside, you're already questions the surroundings and how they don't seem safe.
-When Sans asks for Frisk to shake his hand you pull Frisk's hand away before he can do anything.
-You and Frisk both hide behind lamps when Papyrus enters.
-When Sans say he was "just looking at these lamps" you internally scold yourself for not seeing this though. But to your surprise, Papyrus does nothing?
-Going through his puzzles and learning more about him, you couldn't really hate him or feel like he had ill intensions
-And he would even fight you two, claiming it was unfair for only one of him to go against two or you.
-Getting into Waterfall is one of your biggest concerns, Papyrus told you about Undyne and how big of a deal she was. Even if you can't fully trust him, you'll take his word on that since the people in Snowdin seem to agree.
-You would basically pick up Frisk and run whenever Undyne started attacking, which Frisk was upset about.
-And the biggest shock to both of you is how you got away from her, she was overheating. You tried to pull Frisk away from her to try and make sure she didn't grab them or anything.
-They somehow got away and poured water over her head, which greatly helped.
-You picked up Frisk again, but Undyne just awkwardly stared at you, turned around, and left. Not that you were complaining.
- Alyphs' lab was frightening, but she was most certainly not. She was nerdly and not intimidating at all.
-Mettaton was the real problem. He kept going on with his game show and making you two play. You did not like it what so ever, but Frisk got everything right and was quite content with themselves.
-You didn't listen to any of Alyphs' phone calls, she usually screwed it up, right? But, you ended up getting more hurt than before. Once you started listening, it wasn't as bad as you thought.
-And Mettaton's segments actually weren't that bad, even if they seemed to put you and Frisk in danger, you never really were.
-Maybe they weren't all bad monsters. Maybe it was just King Asgore, whom you are not too far from. You gave Frisk's hand a reassuring squeeze.
-You were fully prepared to fight him, till Toriel showed up. Then Sans and Papyrus, Undyne, Alyphs. It seemed like the entire Underground was on your side.
-Sadly enough, you don't have much memory after that. But everyone in the Underground seems to know your sibling's name and the barrier was broken.
-You apologized to everyone for thinking all monsters were evil or wrong. Good thing they were all forgiving.
-Eventually you and Frisk start walking out into sunset, the end of one journey, and the beginning of another.
P.S. if someone is seeing this and wants to send a request, I do not normal write this much. This is just because I really liked the idea

Flowey: If you're not dating nor are friends, you're acquaintances with a silent crush phase. Heehee, I know what you should say when someone asks what you are next time! You're blockheads.
That uh… that means you're not heartheads or smileyheads. *Flowey smiles innocently and snickers to himself as he tries to trick you into insulting yourselves.*
Anyway, got any root beer left for me?
(Kara) "Really? Blockhead."
(Dess) "What's so wrong about it? We're blockheads through and through. I'm sorry if you don't like the word for some weird reason."
(Kara) "*Slaps head* Should I tell her?"
(Dess) "Tell me what?"
(Kara) "I don't know. Hey, do you want to watch Peanuts?"
(Dess) "Sure. I don't know why you want me to watch it now."
*12 minutes into the story*
(Lucy) "Charlie you blockhead. This is what you call a tree?"
(Dess) "Oh! Flowey you trickster."
(Kara) "Oh also sure Flowey you can have it. *gives the rest to Flowey. After he finishes...*"
Tumblr media
(Kara) "I appreciate the respectful gifts. You all are so much nicer than I thought you'd be. When I heard horror stories about you all I was scared. Granted not all of you are good. I mean my arm got cut off by someone that seems to be part of the wind. That's fun. I always wonder why me? People like you though show how not all Anons are bad. Hell besides that airspeaker, you're all fantastic. Now back to our original problem."
(Dess) "Now we need an actual title."
Tumblr media
(Kara) "Perfect! Now that we've done something completely unimportant like naming ourselves we should probably go out and get to work."
(Dess) "On what?"
(Kara) "I didn't think that far ahead."
*John walks in looking like he hasn't seen the sun in 3 days*
(John) "Well that was difficult but I finally got Asgore's case. Does anyone want to talk with him again? I negotiated one more call."
(Dess) "I'll do it. *Grabs phone.* Hey Asgore how are you doing?"
(Asgore) "I want to say good but that'd be a lie. I've been burning from the heat and the work they make us do. These monster prisons are more brutal than I thought. Guards go up to you on occasion and beat you till you cry. It's a game they play and if you end up being last you get socked in the eye. If anyone tells anyone anything they get abused even further. It's scary and to say it's ignored would be too nice. They outright encourage it here. Anytime something goes wrong I get hit by their bats while everyone else laughs and throws whatever they want at me."
(Dess) "That sounds awful! Do you have any way to have them stop? Surely what they're doing is illegal."
(Asgore) "Those types of laws are barely enforced in normal prisons, let alone a species everyone hates."
(Kara) "Do you have air conditioning?"
*Dess and Asgore started laughing.*
(Asgore) "This is Britain! We're lucky to have air conditioning in our own homes. You really believe they care that much about monsters?"
(Dess) "Well, try to stay a low profile, okay?"
(Asgore) "Alright. *Hangs up.*"
*In the prison.*
Asgore walks back to his cell seeing the high amount of monsters entrapped. Some of them go into a room of complete white if they misbehave. Suddenly, while no one is watching Asgore, Chara burrows out of the ground.
(Chara) "So how do you feel? Don't worry you'll only get killed by the executioner, not me. I wonder if you'll ever crack?"
(Asgore) "Can you stop teasing me? You're the only reason I'm putting effort into stopping the death penalty."
(Chara) "You know it's funny. People think you are a great serious leader. The only smart ones are Papyrus and Alphys. They know who you are. I'm mostly here to make your situation worse and to observe what you do. I bet they give you food that tastes like poop."
(Asgore) "They gave us a bun for a meal. Two on special occasions. Help me please!"
(Chara) "WAH! Boo hoo. Oh, also one thing I want to do. *Slices his left thumb in half and watches it bleed.*"
(Asgore) "Why would you do that!!!"
(Chara) "So I can hurt you without killing you. Oh, people are coming. See you when you're fried!"

The Undertale Kickstarter Updates: Stuff I Found
(SURGEON’S GENERAL WARNING: Long and full of images with ALT text)
(SURGEON’S SECOND WARNING: Also lots of buff dogs. You have been warned.)
So. The Undertale Kickstarter. When you could pay Toby $32 for the Undertale soundtrack but only Papyrus’ Cool Song. Or $1000 for a canon fantroll. Anywho, it had 39 Kickstarter updates, so I thought I’d put some funny stuff I found here.
Ready?
I’m not.
Section 1: Chronological Funnies
A bunch of funnies in chronological order.
Tumblr media
(I would’ve included the buff Flowey image by itself here but Tumblr forbid it)
A thing from the 200% post (Update #2, posted on June 24th, 2013):
Tumblr media
Now a thing from Update #3 (Posted on June 25th, 2013):
Tumblr media
How about something from Update #4 posted on June 26th, 2013?
Tumblr media
Update 5… on June 27th, 2013… I have no words (except for in the ALT text)
Tumblr media
According to the next update, Toby Fox was in China while Undertale was still in development! How interesting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our next image is from Update #8, posted on (drumroll) July 10th, 2013!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Wow, that image description took a lot out of me. Anywho, time for Update #9, posted on July 16th, 2013!
Tumblr media
Yes, that’s the somewhat infamous “deltarune reference” line.
Nothin’ funny in #10, so we’re skipping ahead to Update #11, having been posted on July 23rd, 2013.
Tumblr media
Anywho, now it’s about time for something from Update #18, which was posted on May 3rd, 2014 (Whoah timeskip! The reason will become apparent later).
Tumblr media
Alrig- UNDYNE?!?!?!?!?!
Tumblr media
Oh yeah some other stuff from Update #19 as well:
Tumblr media
For those curious, “Song.” seems to be either an early version or variation of “Quiet Water” and “Other song.” is “Spooktune”.
Next update! Alphys is here too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Update #21!? Uploaded on October 30th, 2014!?!? Impossible!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The song above’s final name is “Can You Really Call This A Hotel I Didn't Receive A Mint On My Pillow”.
What Update number? You guessed it! #22! Wait… it was uploaded on December 18th, 2014!? Unacceptable!
Tumblr media
Update #24. Posted February 22nd, 2015.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bork
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GET THAT DOG OUTTA HERE!!!! I’M MAKING A POST AROUND HERE!!!!!
Tumblr media
Now that small, white dog’s outta my office… here’s a thing from Update #28 that was uploaded on June 30th, 2015 (and is the reason I’m a 99% true Undertale fan).
Tumblr media
Update #29, posted on July 29th, 2015. The worst one.
Tumblr media
Update #30, posted on August 22nd, 2015. The second to last one I’ll put something from here.
Tumblr media
Update #32. Posted on September 14th, 2015 (1 day before Undertale released!)
Tumblr media
Still can’t believe I did section one (1) in only 30 images. Anywho-
Section 2: What I Couldn’t See
Basically, I didn’t know about the Kickstarter in 2013, and thus couldn’t, and didn’t, back it.
Unfortunately, some posts are backer EXCLUSIVE (rude >:() and I cannot see them.
This section is literally just a list of the backer exclusive posts.
Update #6: 20000 Wallpapers!
Update #13: I'm Back... Let's figure out $100+ tier
Update #14: Small Update
Update #15: Not Gone... Just......... Busy...
Update #16: Hello! Merry Holidays!
Update #25: Credits Names???
Update #33: Playing the game
Update #34: Just checking in...
Update #35: Another Update
Update #36: Mini Update On The Stretch Goals
Update #37: another minor update
Update #38: Rewards being sent out imminently!!
Update #39: If you didn't get contacted about your physical rewards
I assume all of these either have info that would not pertain to non-backers at ALL or have secret rewards you get for paying money.
Either way, #13 - #16 being backer-only should help explain the timeskip earlier.
Section 3: ok bye
bye bye still dunno why i did this but bye
oh yeah also
thanks for reading my first long post
and also
REMEMBER TO [Like and Subscribe!] FOR MORE [rrrRRR]ANDOM [#%$&]
