I come back from the dead to bring tidings of a Bocchi print i've been working on for the past three-ish weeks or so. Really proud of how this one came out!

I got more thoughts past the keep reading line as well as additional sketch screenshots for those of you who are interested in my process and line of thinking. Let me know what y'all think!

I have to admit, this is just as much false advertising for the show as the amazing fanarts from Japanese artist rsef as they make Hitori seem more badass than she actually is for most of the show (considering she's usually a bumbling mess LOL). I wanted to capture a sort of ephemeral moment during a live performance, showcase one of the rare moments on stage where Hitori rises up to the occasion despite her extreme struggles with confidence and social anxiety.

Pretty happy with how it came out, methinks!

Below are the composition sketch and value/lighting planning for those of you who are interested in my process!

This one also took some iteration before I got to the final version as well. I had a bit of a different camera angle in mind first based off a pretty intense fisheye lens photo I found on Pinterest of the guitarist from Metallica. Realized I was a bit in over my head with that shot, so I dialed the angle back to something I was a bit more comfortable with, but still with the goal of pushing extreme perspective on the guitar neck.

"it's fine.. stop whining." you said, which chan immediately perked up hearing and looked up at you again. "are you sure? really?" he tries to get your confirmation first.

"yes.. don't worry." you replied, which made him sigh in relief as he placed your hand on his. "i really just, really am sorry. i won't let this happen again okay? even though it was about some meat in the fridge." you laughed, nodding. "promise?"

"promise." he kisses the back of your hand and smiled widely

"too busy with the damn tv? oh i can see that!" you cut him off, now scolding him. "now we missed the reservation!" you groaned, stomping yout feet towards your room..

"babe, look, i'm really sorry okay? i didn't mean to." hyunjin tries to apologize, standing behind you in front of the mirror while you removed your not-too-much-of-makeup-but-still-was-something makeup that took work

Decided to go Kalmia instead of Kiyuu for this one!!! I actually made the lines before I had finished drawing Kalmia’s ref, so this is what motivated me to finish it LOLLL

Fun fact!! The prefect is one of the main people Kalmia acts more confident with. She tells more of what she really feels towards the Prefect and doesn’t care as much about being a person the Prefect can love (because she’s planning on replacing their role anyway and doesn’t want any extremely complicated feelings when that happens).

1) First impressions— What was your first impression about Mr.Haitch. Like the first ever thought you had after your first interaction. Mr.Haitch-- mean, clever, quick, and I loved it. I made a Tumblr account nearly 11 years ago, but literally never used it! I managed to somehow remember my username and login, etc, and found my old Pseudowho account. Read fics on here from about August 2023 I think, before starting to write in October 2024. So I never started it with the intention of writing, no. I was amazed and am still amazed that I'm engaged with at all, and I feel profoundly privileged, so thank you. I've always been a social chameleon, so find interaction easy from person to person.

Hi, I’m completely obsessed with your art style, especially your sketches, so I was wondering what brush you use for them? I also use csp so I thought I’d ask :]

oh my god I have so many... a lot of them I've made, which you can download here! The ones I use most often are "tilt pen chisel", "sharp pen", "sharp pen bubbles", and "shading brush pen"

I have a lot downloaded from assets or imported from photoshop. some of my favorites include:

Graffiti A - I just got this one and haven't posted anything using it yet but I really like it. it does cost 20 clippy but the past couple years CSP has done a daily login bonus thing where they give you clippy points for free. I have 1,720 left that are about to expire soon OOP

Freehand Style Brush Set - I LOVE THESE. There's one from this set I slightly modified and have been using a lot lately. I used it for my icon, my business cards, and the splash drawing on my website.

@meruz 's brush set - these have some really nice texture to em

the true grit texture supply free sampler pack - just downloaded these and used it in my icon drawing, I can tell I'll be using it a LOT

I have a lottttt more that I download from assets, but I don't use a lot of them.

And for reference, my go-to canvas size is 3000x3000px 300dpi. My brushes are made to be used at this size range and they may not look the same if you work much larger/smaller. I also like my brushes to not have any anti-aliasing. it helps because 1) tumblr compresses everything anyway, and I like my lines CRISPY CRUNCHY 2) when I lasso + transform something, I can set the interpolation method to "hard edges" and it doesn't make it blurry:

I’ve been a longtime fan of this blog and a bit of a lurker in the greater cardio community, and while I would genuinely love to be part of it there’s always this thought in the back of my mind that someone I know either online or irl will find out without me telling them. Its led me to feel like I can’t start a blog like this or a separate discord account from my main just to talk with others with this interest, and I’m not really sure what to do about it. I’ve considered reaching out to some in this community through my main, but I’m just not sure if that’d be wise.

Did you ever have thoughts like this before or during the time you’ve had this blog? If so, how did you get over it and what would you recommend to anyone feeling stuff like this?

Sorry for such a long winded question! This has just been on my mind for a long time and I’ve only now been able to work up the courage to even ask.

Oh absolutely I've had feelings like this, I know that there's a chance that close friends or even online friends might discover this blog because I post art. I minimize the chance by avoiding character tags as best I can, it's why I use CS, TL or VV for certain characters and never tag games or shows that I've drawn from. I even have OCs strictly for this blog. If people if my life do find it then that means they actively had to search in cardiophilia tags.

The way I saw it was that so many people have NSFW accounts for all sorts of kinks, people even post horny on main, so why not have my little corner where I post cardiophilia? It's only fair. LOL

This shyness is completely normal, it's a vulnerable part of you and with it can come embarrassment. That's okay!

Whether or not you make an account there's plenty of blogs that have anon open who would be happy to answer messages.

If you are genuinely wanting to make an account, what I do is use a separate browser to have all my logins for places like tumblr and discord so there's no chance of a mix-up. Once you've made it just sit with it for a while, get used to the idea of just having the blog, then start liking/reblogging stuff and if you want to post content then do so! If not then you don't have to! Some cardiophilia blogs never post their own content and just reblog stuff, that's totally fine too! (just don't steal content LOL)

Even if you've got the blog, if you feel comfortable staying anonymous then that's chill too!

It's all about the baby steps. Some don't need them sure but there's no time limit, you don't have to do it all straight away ^^

THE ORIGINS QUESTION

Specifically how the name "Graynide" came to be

But before I tell you that story, I have to tell you this story:

7 years ago where teen me decided to create another account on a game called ROBLOX. Teen me had forgotten the password of her old one so she had to make a new one. Thus, she planned out a username called "Granite_FireBlast". I was able to login back to my dusty old account and OH BOY not sure what I was doing with my avatar.

The name Granite actually came from my first old OC name of mine. I think the FireBlast part came from an old concept I came up with of the same OC. (where she had fire powers and would shout "Granite, Fire Blast!" or something like that) And the name pretty much stuck to me for a few years.

You might be wondering how tf did it turn from Granite to Graynide??

Well, you can thank my sister for that! A few years later, she encouraged me to share my art online and created an account for me. The thing is, it didn't start on Tumblr.

It started on Instagram.

When she asked what my username would be, I instinctively said Granite_ (I honestly couldn't think of any other name than mY OLD ROBLOX ACCOUNT) HOWEVER, she misheard me and typed the username Graynide_ instead! You can actually search my Instagram acct up but its pretty much collecting dust. I kept the name because of how iconic it is enough to be searched on the internet.

Hello Tumblr I've decided to post something since of the pride month. And because of that, I wanna show you a cool artist, because who would I be if I didn't promote underground Polish artists to non-Polish ppl on my socials???

Anyways, this is Aljas, a very cool Polish queer rapper who has only about 6k listeners on Spotify rn, if you're Polish you might know them from their tiktok cuz they post a lot of memes there

They make a lot of nice music and mix different rap genres (I think so, I'm not really into rap music besides them). A lot of their songs are about their girlfriend and being a lesbian, which is a great alternative for the sapphics who dont really like indie pop that much, and one of their songs, "Scarchest" also talks about being trans. They only make music in Polish and ik stuff like that is mainly interesting for queer Poles, since we don't have much representation in media, especially in rap (and music in general), but I'd love it if you gave their music a chance even if you don't speak our language. Oh and did I mention they're also a tattoo artist??

I'm writing about this stuff mainly because Aljas is a queer hero to me and my favourite Polish rapper of all time, they need a bigger community fr +they will be releasing a new EP on 5th June, which is like tomorrow and playing a concert in Warsaw on 7th June, so come on, show them some love <3

10.) Best/funniest comment you’ve ever gotten on a fic?

I think the funniest is probably one from ff.net on like, brokerreport939.omni, because boy that one's a real gut punch and people respond to that in a lot of amusing ways.

The best comment, though? That's harder. Because like, when I was posting Flight of the Flying V, there were a few people leaving long, thoughtful comments regularly, including someone following every chapter, and that might be the best feeling I've ever had posting anything? Like, that's SUCH profound validation, man, what an absolute joy. My whole TAZ writing period was full of comments like that, from talented writers and enthusiastic readers, totally out of proportion with any other fandom I've ever been a part of, and it completely owned, lemme tell you!

But, since I'm feeling sentimental tonight... maybe the first review I got on ff.net from noted bestie @orchidcactus. Our very first interaction! She's the reason I kept writing, the reason I started editing other people's work, the reason I joined tumblr, the reason I followed and fell into friendships with all the other writers who've become some of the most important people I've got in my life. If she hadn't commented so thoughtfully, or wanted to talk about craft after? My life would be so, so much worse.

So yeah. Gotta be that one.

14.) First fandom you ever wrote fanfiction for?

Ace Attorney, actually. And I don't remember what it was about, and I don't have the login for that ff.net account anymore, and it's a good thing I don't because when I wrote those I was extremely 18 and had no idea what I was doing. Fun times, though! Lot of trawling around Court Records.net (oh hey it's still up! Good for them!) and thinkin' bout angsty situations while listening to the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. Sometimes I hear a song and it sends me right back to that point in my life. (I listened to a lot of the Gyakuten Saiban orchestra and jazz albums. Like, a lot.)

Also, Cadenza's Turnabout album? Still fuckin' slaps.

17.) Favorite AU to write?

Post-canon. Always. I love exploring what happens after everyone's arcs are "concluded," and seeing how much farther they still have to go and where they can develop further.

I don't tend to enjoy AUs that are radically different from the source material, like coffee shops or high schools or what have you. If you change the backgrounds of the characters too much, I just don't understand how they're the same characters anymore! But I do love AUs that are just "what if this person made a different choice here" or "what if this thing happened to someone else?" Exploring those what-ifs is pretty fun.
