Ok so by the request of @j2lx, a 500 word essay on any topic thats related to the people i simp for. And hence, i proudly present,

WHY CHROMES ARCLIGHT FRAME BEATS GLORY AND DESERVES BETTER

Here are my criterias. (Disclaimer everything here is purely my own opinion and my love for chrome)

I could go on a whole day about this but look arclight needs more lines. In comparison to the newer character frames, he has so few poses. BUT HIS LINES AND LITTLE GESTURES MAKE ME GO INSANE.

Like look at him going all shy and there are what, 5 of them?? Just imagine if we had more, how cute they would be. CHROME BEING SHY IS SO GODDAMN ADORABLE.

These are literally the only 2 that make me feel anything but even then. IT DOESNT COMPARE TO ARCLIGHTS VOICELINES. Its almost as of he's grown a little more distant from shikikan after the new frame :(

Next Coatings

So since we have the standard ultima looks above, lets go with those first. So i wont deny that the glory frame looks better. (it's what made me get chrome after all) But i love the little ear decives chromes arclight frame has. Theyre jsut so cute but overall, in terms to standard frames, glory wins.

Very honestly speaking, glorys animations and effects are better. Especially when the game ends and if youre caught in the midst of his signature or some attack. Although I'll admit that sometimes we get really strange angles

I cant really decide but I'll pick glory on this one. Simply because its really fun to just randomly ping an orb towards the end and hopefully get a cooler looking pose right before they play the battle end animation.

She had headphones on, probably on a low volume and playing classical or calm music, and was bent over a sheet of paper, furiously writing something. She was clearly biting her tongue in the way she only does if she’s completely absorbed in what she was doing. Perfect.

He silently slipped into her room, closing the door behind him carefully, before grabbing the buzzing magnets he left in there last time he did this. He separated them before throwing them into the air and letting them clack together and buzz loudly.

Gem jumped up in her seat, magically-formed wings fluttering in shock, before turning around and fixing fWhip with a stern glare.“fWhip! You startled me!” 

“That’s the point.” he replied with a shit-eating grin.

Gem rolled her eyes before putting her headphones back on and putting them on a slightly louder volume. “I was studying for the test we’re going to have in science about how magic affects the laws of physics,”

fWhip started walking out the door, and right before he left the room completely, he turned and said, “At least robots are actually cool,”

Gem simply sighed, and returned to her work. 

fWhip sighed. Lately, they had been slowly drifting apart, with Gem joining gifted classes at their school and being given more homework in general. She often stayed up for nights on end working on a project, and it was starting to worry him. He ran a hand through his too long hair.

Ok so writer's block sucks ass and I'm more of a pussy/dick person so it writer's block can trip on an egg and fall into the 6th ring of hell.

And I was super pissy about it, draft due on Friday, I got decent sleep this week but a girl wants to sit in bed on Pinterest not stuck on her stuff ass chair typing. So after being dramatic about it I was like "Hey this is a feature article and if imma hate whatvr I write anws why not just write whatever the hell?", Before this I asked my sister and she cheered me up and told me to use some of the inside jokes of the fandom we're in.

Suprise, suprise- if u whip out yo stash of gummy bears, Luke warm water and (this is my secret element) the most emotive song about the emotion ur tryna convey (get a loop) then they're ya go. First off the gummy bears were a reminder for me to keep the writing decently positive, gummy bears make me happy- fruity(teehee) flavours, not too chewy but u still get that stuck on ur teeth feeling and they're sweet, now for the emotive song if ur writing sad things listen to sad songs, if you wanna write about a normal lifestyle get a generic song if you wanna write about marine life listen to under the sea specifically.

Also type in comic sans- you get so angry u wanna finish as fast as u can and boom! A half essay in 30

Now when writing I was totally messing around but in a serious way, I used inside jokes and I got a laugh outta my sister but I aldo got a great fucking intro after 2 fucking hours of procrastination ✨✨

Let's start with the highs:

Me and Van/Vanni have been dating for about 9 months now and I don't regret a single moment of it at all. Venti

music major. Enough said

he kind of just started in music, and in like his second year he realized “wait without clout I can’t easily make a career out of this”

so now he’s also in a secondary education program as a backup plan but desperately trying to get famous on internet so he doesn’t have to teach

sports?? comitees? no he’s in a music room all day long

and when he isn’t, it’s because he has recital. he’s booked all day long

^^ which means he refuses to do anything school-related when he isn’t supposed to. Aka: the weekend. friday evening, venti is fucking done and ready to get hammered

has perfect pitch, is literally extremely talented in music so usually he gets good grades in theory classes/instrument theory with minimal efforts

once actually sight-read during an audition and actually fucking passed it with an A-. no one knows how he was able to do it

doesn’t fucking know how to cook he lives off ramen or caf food (it’s ok venti my love i’ll bring u my leftovers)

science, he’s in a science program for sure. 

he probably started in pre-med and then switched to biochem after his first semester

bro he’s so silent, so still, people hardly notices him. boy just attends his class, nods along, takes notes, goes to his labs (the only exception here bc he has to talk to his lab partner) and that’s it.

gets amazing grades. I don’t think his GPA ever goes under 4.0

the type of person who will fucking carry during lab reports just to make sure he gets a good grade. you finished your work? send it to him he’s going to double check it before you hand it over to the lab attendant. it’s a non-negotiable

zero social life. he studies sm. he has so many labs. his schedule is packed. 

also a student who probably hasn’t exactly learned how to cook balanced meals. it’s pasta and canned sauce most nights. he’ll get takeout if he feels fancy

lives off-campus (he doesn’t want to get kicked out at the end of the semester, buddy doesnt have time for all that moving around), he just has a place of his own a few minutes away from campus

Kazuha

literacy major. or like, english major with a minor in philosophy. 

people ask him what are his plans with a degree like that and he just ignores them. in his head, he would rather study something he actually enjoys and struggle with finding a job with the degree later

currently on his doctorate degree in history. he has a double major in history and geography, did his masters in geography and is somehow actually doing a doctorate in history

he was in a track and field team during his bachelors. his best events were probably like, javelin and shot put

in charge of some one or two credit first-year classes. he’s... not the best at teaching

he has the bad habit of assuming students are more informed than they are in reality, which leads to most of his class being lost in the middle of his lecture

but he doesn’t do it on purpose!! he would glady put the students into context if one raised their hand and notified him that they weren’t following!! 

but honestly... would you have the courage to do that? yeah, no one would. not with zhongli as a teacher, optimistically assuming everyone’s up to date and follows. 

is very strict on class itinerary tho. no, he will not push back any due dates for homework or exam dates. His program was thoroughly planned with the students in mind, as well as their workload and he firmly believes that what he asks can be completed in the time given

deadass starts his semester saying “if you are organized, you will pass this class without any problems.” it scares like half of the crowd

started in kinesiology. but then the reality of college hit him and he switched to P.E. 

that one student that applied and got like three different sports scholarships. yeah, he’s on three different sports team. cross-country, volleyball, rugby. no wonder he couldn’t keep up in kin bro his time management skills are probably awful

lives on campus, in dorms. he tries so hard to keep a balanced diet but his options are kinda limited by whatever food is at the caf, so he ended up having a wholeass stash under his bed. protein bars, gels, you name it. I swear he got a mini fridge too for shakes and snacks

let’s get this out of the way first; VARSITY SWIMMER. I stand by this until I die. I could go into heavy detail but I’ll spare you all today

out of all these characters, he’s the most invested in his sport (I know, shocking, he even bests Gorou in this category). with this said, he attends all his morning classes with wet ass hair and he does not fucking care. the whole room smells like chlorine once he settles down

business major. he just chose it bc ppl said it’s relatively easy so it won’t interfere with practice much. plus he “gets to make bank afterwards” (his words not mine)

social butterfly-ish. if he’s not at practice or in class he’s that guy walking in the hallways to see if there’s anything fun to do. if someone has their dorm room open he will walk in and start up a convo

I've been great. I just did an essay for social justice and I got to write it about my ASPD (she said it was brilliant but then like was an asshole talking about how my diagnosis is wrong and how doctors aren't credible because she's seen me show compassion before {what does she expect someone with aspd to act? like a serial killer? i literally address masking and expectation in the essay but ok). I wrote three papers for history and they were about native americans + the technological advances in terms of war + the economics behind the civil war. Very fun - all of them were very fun. I love writing essays and shit.

I'm doing ass progress in math idk why they put me in a wack ass math course but ok. I talk to the profess all the time and we discuss 80s movies so I get a little credibility I suppose (hope he goes easy on me!).

Today I did my presentation in the expiremental analysis in biology class and tbh I kinda ate. I had cattle decapitation lyrics in it bc you know they have songs about the environment and methane n carbon dioxide and shiii

Saturday is movie night with my friends! We had movie night last time (sadly my man couldn't be there - but this time he will {maybe?}) and we watched X and American Psycho. This time I convinced them to watch The Fly. Anddd this time we are wearing pajamas and all week I've not worn this specific pair bc imma save it for him.

my comm college has this micro spring celebration (so california) that's basically put together by my history professor (i've been hanging around him more often... i like him a lot. he runs the gardening club) actually wait - out of parenthesis now - I asked him about gardening club and he said sumthn about when it is and I was like cool. But I have anxiety brain and I wanted to know more information and so I asked my mans (who has him for another course) to ask him about gardening club and he did. AND THEN AFTER MY LECTURE THE PROFESS WALKS UP TO ME AND GIVES ME MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CLUB LIKE GOD DAMNIT [MOD SOUDAS MAN] THAT WAS SO EMBARRASSING I WAS TRYING TO BE NONCHALANT. I WAS SO FLUSHED I WAS LIKE OH THANK YOU - HE KNEW I ASKED MY MAN TO ASK HIM. THAT'S SO EMBARRASSING. anyway the spring celebration is just with like his gardening club + some of his ta's I think idk but he invited me (i talk to him like every day while everyone else ignores him lol I love him he is such a king) and I got the permiss to invite my mans and i'm very excited but like it's like not even a formal thing it's literally just a gardening thing but it makes me very happy to be somewhere in public with him (also my deaf friend and her interpreter are gonna be there and he likes watching me sign so double wammy {in the positive sense}).

Bakugo is a fucking simp and soft boy. I'm sorry I cant control it.

Also Y/N uses she/her pronouns. I tried to keep Y/N as description-less as possible but I describe specific life events that required detailing Y/Ns features. There is mention of Y/N being "little" or "small" compared to Bakugo but let me just say, I imagine Pro Hero Bakugo to be massive! Like I'm 6'0" myself and I imagine him to be taller than me and built. It's ok if he's not, that's just how I invison it and portray it in my writing.

I currently have the first 17 chapters read through and mostly edited. I apologize in advance for spelling mistakes and poor grammar. It's never been a strong suit of mine. I just add adjectives and descriptors until my heart is full 🤣

Alright so for starters, I'm an infp! I'm a generally well-mannered person with people I meet for the first time, borderline sweet and awkward at the same time. I like not to overinvest in first meetings with people and sometimes I think I am somewhat defensive of myself. My emotions always show on my face, both the good and the bad ones. So if someone does say something that I find offensive or whatnot, it SHOWS. I generally hate rude and offensive people all together, as well as people who are vulgar if we're not well acquainted first.

I'm not good at starting conversations and I usually just tend to listen to my friends talk most of the time. It's not like I have nothing to say but I really like listening to my favorite people ramble on about things they love or generally talk about their lives. Im a pretty good listener and I am always objective, even with my family. I won't hold back and I will give you my honest opinion in every case. I always try to see from all perspectives, maybe that's why I'm often somewhat indecisive.

That being said, I really don't shut up about things I love or my hobbies. I'm usually the mood maker of the group as I hate conflict and tension. I am a very sarcastic and cynical person in general and that reflects on my humor, which can vary from vulgar to very dark and inappropriate. Yes, the type of person that will try to hold in their laughter cause I made a mental joke to a funeral. I love witty, stimulating and deep conversations. I'm not that big on casual chitchat but it's okay most of the time I guess.

I'm the personification of open-minded and im also quite opinionated and I can back up my arguments if needed but I tend to avoid getting into heated conversations cause again, my mind reads it as tension. I love being around friends doing nothing and everything but most of the time, I find alone time to be very healing for my mind and soul. I find authenticity and weird little quirks that people have extremely attractive. I'm somewhat stubborn as well.

I also used to have stress and anxiety issues, not anything serious but enough that I had trouble sleeping at night. It was just a few years ago that I decided to not care about every single thing and have a more of a "fuck that" approach in life and honestly, I've never imagined that it would be so liberating. I regained my confidence, physically and mentally, it was an empowering process! I really do believe that self-exploring and healing is the no1 most important thing that someone can do. Love yourself first and foremost and fck what anybody thinks.

So, moving on xD I am a romantic and soft deep down, even though I try not to show sad emotions when around people. But you can be sure I cry at random rescuing dog videos, or videos with people helping each other. I love humanity but hate it at the same time? 😂 Idk if that makes sense, it is what I feel lol I love to learn new random stuff! I'm currently studying linguistics and uni and I aim to be a translator or interpreter, cause i love languages and the cultural differences that come with it. Hence my undying love for music of different genres and languages! Music relaxes me and I couldn't imagine going on without it for more than 3 days. While I do tend to listen to kpop which is more upbeat and experimental, I also LOVE Latin music and rock. I love love traveling around the world! My hobbies include drawing which I'm self taught, fashion and creative writing! I tend to daydream A LOT during the day and so many ideas pop up in my head. I love exploring other cultures' religions and beliefs as well as mythology. I always found it fascinating. I love plants as well! My room is basically a garden xD I also love mystical but also borderline creepy and gory stuff xD I call skulls "pretty" the same way I would call a puppy "cute" 🤣 I'm aware οf that but I can't help but enjoy the look of horror in people's faces xD

oh, I really enjoy observing people as well! Not in a weird way! Their mannerisms, the way they speak, their features. I also love thriller and horror movies the most as well as dark social drama ones. You know, with murders, suicides etc I like how in even the tiniest ways they depict our society as people and frankly, it's sad but I try to be optimistic and keep a positive approach in life. I also really appreciate stand-up comedy xD

Closing up this huge essay, some last things xD I, and I cannot stress this enough, am unable to flirt. Like at all. I can't even maintain eye contact for more than two Seconds. I wish I was kidding. Sadly I'm not 😂Weird thing is, turns out I am actually able to flirt but I'm not aware I'm doing it?? I'm a master at text flirting apparently lololol. What I am, is also called DENSE AS SHIT when it comes to couple things. I also think I'm touch starved sometimes, like I really like hugs and cuddling and teasing but I'm not gonna ask for it🥺I'm a night owl and I tend to procrastinate a lot. I can't work efficiently if there's not a deadline, like I need that pressure on me in order to function xD My weak spot is actually to act whiny and needy and cutely in front of me. I can do ANYTHING that u ask me of when this happens. And if I show any resistance, JUST KEEP IT UP. I'm jelly on the floor when this happens. Idfk why, it just works?? Listen buddy, it's a dangerous game you are playing here, asking such a difficult question. You know how when you love a thing so much trying to pinpoint why exactly you love it in the first place feels kinda wrong? Idk, but your writings are so all around well-written, dissecting them feels like a blasphemy. But you asked for this and your wish is my command, so I'm here to indulge you. Therefore I'll try my best.

One of the first things I've noticed is that your writings are never dry simple stating of facts. Not sure how to describe it but I like the way you'd set a scene and pull a whole show to it. Giving me the feeling that the character has a real life happening to him and I just got a glimpse of a single moment.

Your sense of humor. I don't know what to say about it, it's just *chef's kiss*. The amount of times snorted out an uncivilized laugh, while reading this blog in public. Could I wait to get home to read it? No. No, I could not. The waiting could have killed me, because you make my entireday better, it's like a friend is next to me, telling me stories and jokes, ok.

That's going to be a weird one. You use a very... flowery language. Not only it makes your texts interesting to read but also, you see, I'm not a native speaker, so I learned quite a bit of fancy words, I have yet to encounter in my studybooks, from you. (That's not a joke, my English teacher said my vocabulary had grown a lot and is very rich now. Was so impressed that I use words like "mien". She asked me what I read in a free time to learn words. I didn't have a heart to tell her, though. She's a 68 years old nice old-school lady, it may give her a heart attack.)

Your writing style is very Gintama-ish. There's no other way to describe it, because Gintama itself is impossible to describe. But it just feels like what are you writing is a part of a canon, you know?... This also makes your OCs is ridiculously believable as a part of show. I re-watched 7th division arc recently and was like "Where the fuck is Yan?". Laugh all you want but Imma going to learn Japanese, go to Japan, find Gorilla-sensei, take him hostage, if needed, but convince him to make you his co-author and remake Gintama with your OCs. Then it's over for us, simps. Also one of the first things of yours I've read was "who has a daddy kink in Gintama" and immediately fell in love, right on my head as you can tell. The way you've written this little quarrel between you, the author, and Gin? Amazing. And, oh, how chivalrous of you to protect that individual's privacy. Who is that mysterious Hiji****? Ok, the last one, I swear. As I mentioned earlier the characters you write about feel like real Gintama characters. But not only that, they feel like real people, somehow? Told you, it's hard to analyze things you love. They are just so deep and well-written, it's so easy to empathize with them. It's kinda hard to read your writings in one sitting because I need regular breaks to squeal into my pillow, pace a room a bit, fan my face or straight up cry. Bansai plucking his shamisen ain't got nothing on you plucking the strings of my soul and playing with my emotions like nobody's business. Sougo and Gin may brag about being sadists and their playing-with-people-feelings-skill to all their little black hearts content, they are so below you they cannot jump high enough to kiss the soles of your feet.

My gripes with Luka and Kagami’s writing keyword writing and Miraculous predictions

Imma keep this short so this began as a Luka analysis and turned into me guessing how Lukanette and Adrigami are actually 500 iq plays.

Imma be real with ya’ll I was re-watching the show and something about Luka rubs me personally the wrong way. Now I’m not a huge fan of his “oh I can read your emotions through body language and telepathy and strum my guitar to tell you about them” but that's more a personal issue with me because I don’t like people telling me how I feel so I’m not gonna mark that against his character. He did commit 2 more egregious crimes though 1. He insulted a homie and 2. He’s almost too accurate to real life.  1. He insulted a homie. Now I like to believe that Adrien and Luka are friends due to various interactions between the two. “Whoever made you feel this way *strums guitar randomly*” Like bruh even if that happened before your friendship your obligated to inform him. This is more sarcastic and dumb than anything, but I am a frim believer in the bro code.

Now before I continue further I have a full list of gripes I have on Luka and Kagami where and the keyword here “writers” have messed up. And don’t get me wrong I have lists for all the characters though I will admit they are shorter than these two. 

Like Kagami just for example really puts me off as a Japanese person myself. Like if my relatives acted like that I’d be a little worried. The whole honor of the family is important and I get that but in the 21st century not to that degree.

Ok off of that disclaimer and micro rant on how Japanese people are portrayed in Miraculous.

Crime number 2. Luka is scary fuckin accurate to real life. Now I have a guitarist friend and while unlike Luka his entire personality does not revolve around the concept of the guitar he sounds and acts like Luka. I’ve seen Luka get mad once I don't know if my friend has ever been mad. Luka is somewhat monotoned so is my friend. They both play the guitar religiously. Its creepy like give my boy some other things to like other than Marinette and the Guitar.

Now what I’m about to do is a complete 180. I could be wrong right? Its the internet I am not a perfect human being I could just be looking at it wrong. I tend to do that. But what the writers are doing might be a 500 iq play and we are all just too dumb to realize it.

Hear me out. Lukanette and Adrigami as of right now are canon as backed up by winny on twitter. Cool. I think the writers are using Luka as sort of a way to show the audience the preparation or “relationship training” that Luka is giving Marinette. Luka knows about her feelings for Adrien and has not once been like “hey maybe you should try getting over him” always without fail encourages her to go after him (which is another problem the writers gave Luka is that he is a virtual yes man). I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the case but its something to think about. Luka wants Adrienette and I know that you Lukanette shippers out their will be like “wHy cAN’t MARiNetTe hAve HaPPIneSS wItH SoMeONe eLse” but heres the deal. Luka wants Marinettes happiness and he knows that the push she might need to finally get him is having her heart broken. So he’s going to break it before Adrien does. BINGO BABY THAT IS THE RING-A-DING MOVE. The writers are using Luka as the push.

Now the Next question, “but what about Adrigami?” this one might be a little simpler as Adrien is “supposed” to be a main character, but imma keep it a buck. Marinette is really the only main character. Which is a damn shame if you ask me cause I love me some sunshine boy. Now this one will also be resolved by Kagami but not as 500 iq as Luka. She’ll come out of her reverie of perfection and realize that Adrien is far from perfect. Being Chat Noir means he has to dip on dates, events, and other various activities will have its strain on their relationship. Now Adrigami shippers will point out that Adrien is attracted to strong women, and while yes this is true with Kagami and Ladybug its different. Ladybug is nicer and more compassionate than Kagami is. Kagami has been written as your stereotypical Japanese rich person. Now before you have an aneurysm and honestly if you've read this far you’ve probably already had one I would Like to state once again just for the record “I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE CHARACTERS OR SHIPS I”M JUST SAYING WHAT I THINK WILL HAPPEN (and I’d be lying if I said I don’t want this to happen I am lovesquare trash). 

Now after these two events happen we maybe get Adrinette just maybe or we get the reveal and the completion of the Lovesquare. Because I’m a sap and love confessions and Identity reveal would just be *chefs kiss*. Lukagami would also probably happen as Kagami's spell of perfection is somewhat broken and their friendship initially formed over being dipped on by Adrien and Marinette to stop a maniac in a butterfly costume. Like “Oh hey Luka what are you doing here?” 

“Oh nothing just on a date with Marinette.” 

“Oh and where is she?” 

“Oh I believe her hair was caught on fire this time”

“Cool cool”

“Oh hey where’s Adrien weren’t you guys on a date?”

“Yea I believe he had another shoot in the middle of our scheduled date time.”

“Huh weird?”

“Yea weird.”

I know I’m probably wrong and that this is all wishful thinking before you salt on me for destroying your ship I didn’t if I’m right point your finger a the writers and honestly if this is what happens in the show I may never criticize them again. this would be big brain. April: Comedy

This is my favorite genre. But, uh...is it a genre?

Here’s the thing about comedy: it seems like a genre in total, but it’s really more of a tone. What I mean by that is, the idea of comedy is so broad that it intersects with basically every genre there is. So, how do you define the comedy genre if it’s quite literally all over the place?

Well, let’s look at the previous genres this year. Action movies tell their plot through action sequences, romance movies focus on interpersonal relationships, and fantasy movies are all about the setting and its rules. The way I see it, comedy is primarily about writing and plot, especially the former.

Now, to explain this, I’ll have to talk about my favorite comedies. And yeah, that’s plural, because it is HAAAAAARD to choose one favorite. There are so many good ones, and they’re all different in scope and concept. So, I’ll go through a few of my top favorites, and do some quick basic dissection. Let’s start with Airplane!, a 1980 parody comedy fueled on extremely well-written and timed jokes. The situation isn’t the funniest part here; it’s the writing, and how the written jokes are executed.

Here’s what I mean: I’m gonna describe the plot with a fairly accurate synopsis.

A veteran pilot from the Vietnam War is trying to repair his faltering love life with a flight attendant. To do so, he must get over his personal trauma and board the plane she is on to win her back. But during the flight, an illness fells the pilot and copilot, along with many passengers, causing the veteran to fly the plane, with the help of the flight attendant, a doctor on board, and a ground crew composed of his former wartime commander. Together, they must save the passengers and land the plane safely.

Right? If you’ve seen the film, you know that that’s an accurate synopsis. And yet, this movie is FUNNY AS SHIT because of HOW the writing enacts that plot, and how the jokes within are told by the actors. It’s all about writing within the setting. OK, let’s try another one, same set-up! Here’s the synopsis:

In a film directed by famous drama director Stanley Kramer, a group of passersby happen upon an escaped elderly criminal, whose run ends in a fatal car crash. With his dying breath, the criminal tells the travelers about stolen money, equaling about $350,000, and buried somewhere in southern California. After his death, the passersby divert their plan and race to claim the tax-free money for themselves. Along the way, their race attracts other people clamoring for the money, as well as an old policeman chasing after the old criminal’s legacy.

Sounds like it could be a cool action thriller, right? Instead, it became one of my all-time favorite comedies, and arguably the greatest ensemble movie ever made, I WILL DIE ON THAT HILL

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World! is one of my favorite films, regardless of genre, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. An INSANE cast of heavy hitters of the day, this film is basically perfect, and one of my personal gold standards of comedy alongside Airplane!. I’d gush about how good it is all day, but that isn’t the point of this little essay. But you see what I mean about the writing? Again, comedies tell pretty standard stories, but use humor to tell them. It’s about tone moreso than plot.

Character dynamics are pretty fluid as well, shifting from romantic to antagonistic to neutral to completely unrelated. And finally, the setting of these films is pretty damn fluid as well. Let’s see...what’s another of my favorites...GOT IT!

In a modern world, a group of vampires must adjust to modern society, in Wellington, New Zealand.  In the process, they capture a human and convert him to the undead, attempt to find lost love (and new love), battle those that would want them dead, and struggle to find their place in both human and vampiric society, all the while dealing with their own interpersonal relationships.

In other words...

What We Do in the Shadows is a fucking FANTASTIC comedy, absolutely hilarious, and it’s in a fantasy/horror setting! I considered Ghostbusters for this, but that’s too easy. So, OK, setting also doesn’t really matter. It’s basically all in the writing and the acting. Obviously, there’s more than just that, but this is meant to be a simplification.

So, comedies are films in which the stories are told in a humorous manner, rather than a wholly serious one. Like I said, it’s all about tone. So, with that said...

THERE ARE TOO MANY GODDAMN COMEDIES HELP ME

Guys...I don’t know which ones to choose! I’ve seen so many goddamn comedies, and yet...there are so many that I just straight-up have never seen. It’s insane. And now, I’m being forced to choose which ones I need to watch, while limiting it to 30 films. It’s nearly impossible, but...Imma do it.

That’s not even mentioning organization, but...I kinda liked the chronological thing I did last month, so I’m gonna do that again, I think. So, OK, let’s do it! FUCKING SOMEHOW! The question is, of course, where do I start? Well, it’s probably fitting to start with a classic film director and comedy star from the beginning of film history, whose films I’ve somehow never seen. Let’s do this.

OK FUCKERS I WAS IN CLASS AND I THOUGHT OF THIS AND MY BRAIN SAID WRITE IT ON TUMBLR SO IM DOING THIS

Enemies to lovers, but with covid-19. 

So, at my school we have to wipe down our tables after every class, and there’s only one spray bottle, so there’s always a huge thing about getting the bottle first.

Person A and Person B get SUPER into the rush to get the bottle first

And the first time they bump hands they’re like who the fuck’s this bitch?

and so they keep up the competition, but also start trash talking each other in class

“Hey asswipe, yo mamma-” “OHHH, SO YOU WANNA BRING MOTHERS INTO THIS, SLOWPOKE. WELL-”

2 weeks after they JUST got back to physical school, they have to go back to online learning.

and they kinda (really) miss the shit talk and the small moments where the other found their insults funny instead of hurtful.

So they start thinking maybe I don’t hate them as much as i think they’re pretty cool and smart and- is this,, a crush? Maybe? Do I want to punch them, kiss them or chill like bros??

So online school starts and they don’t talk for awhile

but then Person A goes fuck this, if they won’t talk, I will

and sends a message saying “I won, bitchface.” with a picture of a spray bottle of sanitizer.

and the rivalry starts again, this time seeing who can send the other a picture of a bottle of sanitizer faster.

After awhile they realise maybe their crush isn’t completely unrequited and Person B is angry because now it’s a race to confess first, and they’re more determined to win this than they ever were about the spray bottle

But they wanna be subtle about this, because they don’t want it to be a massive shock when they confess.

It starts with little things like drawing hearts on the spray bottle and adding hearts to the end of messages, escalating to leaving post-it notes saying “Person B+Person A” in a heart and cheesy shit they totally didn’t steal from romcoms

and Person A isn’t completely oblivious and goes Huh. They really think they can beat me. But doesn’t rush anything because “slow and steady wins the race” and also “make that fucker suffer for what they said about my mother” 

It gets to the point where they get put in a group project together and their group mates are like “???? are they fighting or flirting” and they’re like “both”.

Person A responds with “... one of your points was “hasn’t dated me yet””

and Person B says “is that a problem?”

and Person A said “not at all”

And so they go to the park and they have a walk and they stay 6 ft apart because they might be gay but they need to social distance

and Person A sees a tree and asks “If I put a bottle of hand sanitizer in that tree and I beat you to the tree, will you go out with me?”

Person B loses on purpose.

He cares bout Marnie n his team n spikemuth n it’s really cute to see 🥺🥺 n his PASSION FOR MUSIC ? I love it n we really got done dirty cause he never even got voiced lines but that’s a story for another time-

speaking of his team I’m gonna go on a fucing gush rant bout his lines in the gym battle like !! HE ENCOURAGES ALL OF HIS POKES WHENEVER HE SENDS THEM OUT!! He announces their moves yes but at the same time hes praising them n I love it?? ALSO WHEN YOU DEFEAT HIM HE DOESNT GET MAD AT THEM n quoting him "Me an' my team gave it our best.
