I'm sorry but Shuri is the only sane person in the entire movie:
Ramonda declared War to the Talokan nation without a backup plan.
Namor kidnapped the Princess of Wakanda, forgot it was a kidnapping halfway through and took her on a touristic tour without thinking about the consequences. How did he even think for a second things would run smoothly?
Nakia killed a lady guard and refused to listen to Shuri when she asked her for the kimoyo beads.
M'Baku thought he could beat Namor with his stick and came to a council meeting with a carrot.
Attuma became obsessed with Okoye the minute he met her. Man, I don't know if you've noticed but you have a job, you need to focus.
Riri casually built a vibranium detecting machine and thought she would stay trouble-free
Ayo works with her girlfriend.
Shuri is the only one with some common sense left. She tried to reason with Namor, told him they should find a peaceful solution and then when she wanted to attack him, actually had a plan and a backup plan in case the first plan failed.
All the other characters are incompetent. Lovely, adorable, but incompetent. *This doesn't apply to Namora, she has never done anything wrong in her life ever.

Also I can’t blame Attuma, I too would simp over Okoye and try to single her out if I fought her like one time. Homeboy fought her once on the bridge and straight up said “she is the one, I ain’t fighting no one else for longer than a second, I won’t even go after the one person I came here to kill, I’m just going to keep fighting her, is she single? Yo her husband in prison??? That’s single right?”

Back to the WIP asks:
Bigger Than Love - Another Arranged Marriage AU
Bigger Than Love || Another (Happier) Arranged Marriage AU
Aahhhh... Bigger Than Love... because who doesn't love an Arranged Marriage Trope? 🤭 Let's Get Into It!
So this was Like Real People Do before I had the bright idea to turn it into the absurdly long fest of angst that will end with one single kiss 😅 but it has since pivoted to be what I hope is a fun twist on the Arranged Marriage trope.
It'll be set about 2-3 months post-canon, so feelings are still fresh all around. Wakanda and Talokan are both on the verge of civil war within themselves, and the alliance isn't going exactly the way leadership might've hoped. If you know me, you know I don't believe in doing things the easy way, so Shuri is still mad (and a little homicidal), Namor is unwilling to work with anyone other her, and M'Baku is ready to fully revert Wakanda back to T'Chaka levels of seclusion (Talokan and Western Powers be damned).
In all of this, our leading duo have found themselves as unlikely friends and equally matched sparring partners. There's just one rule though— no politics. They spar in the training arena, by the riverbank, in Okoye's backyard... but under no circumstances do they discuss the growing tensions between their two kingdoms. What happens in the throne room, stays in the throne room.
Until it doesn't of course...
Things are looking bleak for the alliance, and even finding moments to spar has become difficult with the pressures they're both facing. One night, Okoye jokingly suggests a marriage alliance might fix all of their problems. They both laugh it off, but when he's alone, the thought won't leave Attuma's mind. Peace matches are arranged all the time in Talokan; he's the product of one such marriage himself. Would marrying Okoye really be so bad? She may be a surface dweller, but she is the first equal he's met in far too long. But worries still linger: if they do marry, can he accept the potential risk of losing another so dear to his heart?
Okoye keeps trying to convince herself that she was joking. She couldn't possibly be willing to get married again— not after W'Kabi. But the more she thinks about it, thinks about him, the more she finds herself wanting. Her uncle has not relented in his quest to see her remarried, no matter how lacking she finds her suitors. Attuma wouldn't be marrying her for status, or money, or connections to her uncle or the crown. Theirs would be a mutually beneficial arrangment— the treaty could finally be formalized, they'd have peace in both their kingdoms, and maybe, just maybe, Attuma might end up wanting her too.

so i've gone down the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever tags and I've been seeing posts about how Namor, Attuma, and Namora all being down bad for Shuri, Okoye, and Riri
And this is just proving my theory that Talokans are just down bad for people who can beat their ass

Marvel Women as things said by the people I am currently living with part 5
The rest of the series
Natasha: So do you want sex therapy, normal therapy, or alcoholism. That's what we've got.
Wanda: She may be bawling her eyes out, but at least she’s balling
Maria: Would love to join but I’m currently solving the Israeli Palestine conflict for my final :/
Monica: Well that really chases my goose.
Okoye: "Go to horny jail!" "Bitch I'm the warden of horny jail"
Shuri: My sexuality is non-euclidian
Jemma: [to Fitz) Why don’t you love me, bitch? It’s always about what airplanes I could be, not about the airplane I already am.
Daisy: “Oh my god go to bed at a reasonable time I am begging you” “Now why would I do that?”
May: "Renown" does not mean "sleeping with their leader!”
Bobbi: NO. I'm fucking stupid!! No wait. I need to go do something so I can be stupid accurately
Elena: If the going gets rough, just stab a bitch! problem solved!
Gamora: For only five dollars, you too can Stab The Child
Nebula: The rentals are all rented, so we're stuck at 15 seats for now unless someone pulls an entire car out of their ass. Which would be a very concerning feat. I would definitely not ride in a car pulled out of someone's posterior
Mantis: “So you know what the line ‘riding that cowboy’ means now?” “Yes! They’re giving piggyback rides to all their friends! :D” “No. It’s about putting that cowboy on his back and riding that dick.”

ATTOYE MODERN AU
Everybody is confused by their dynamic. They argue constantly and are constantly fighting even throwing things at each other. But whenever one has a problem, the other person is the first person they’d call.
Okoye was locked up in her room obviously crying and unwilling to talk to anybody. Not even Shuri or Ayo her sister could get her to open the door. But as soon as Attuma walked in they hear a click in the lock and he just slips in and doesn’t emerge until the next day.
They’re totally oblivious to all this (duh). They just see themselves as any other regular friendship. But, their friends are convinced they’re half way to being married.

"Okoye to the People" by Ibi Zoboi
Book: "Okoye: to the People"
Author: Ibi Zoboi
Publisher: Marvel Press/ Buena Vista Books, Inc
Published in: 2022
Summary: Okoye, a new member of the Dora Milaje, who accompanies her king to New York for a humanitarian mission. While in New York, Okoye uncovers a plot regarding a drug that targets the neighborhood youth. Okoye teams up with her Captain and, a councilwoman to fight against the makers of the drug.
My thoughts: I should say that I love Okoye and Black Panther. I liked how we get a story of Okoye as she was starting out in the Dora Milaje. I do wish that there was more fighting in the book. If Okoye would have fought the antagonist, the climax would have been so much better. I also wish that the antagonist was seen getting shipped of to jail.
This is all my opinion. I can say that I liked the book. I read it in a week. That is fast for me. I was so engrossed by the story and the characters that I sped through the book like it was food. I needed to know what was gonna happen next.
If you love Marvel, especially Black Panther and the Dora Milaje, please check this novel out. You will be getting a glimpse of another side of Okoye.
Rating: 7.8/10
Happy Reading!!!

» Regular People AU || Attoye Prompt Drabbles || Master List « » The Complex #1 — Read Attuma’s POV in the companion piece «
Okoye had never seen this man before. If she had, she definitely would’ve remembered—probably down to the exact detail, he was that good looking. His tall physique and long dark hair drew him immediately to her attention as he leaned forward to reach his mailbox in one of the lower rows. The glimpse of his firm, round backside that his position afforded her also made a major impression.
Tearing her eyes away from the pleasing sight, she spied over his shoulder on her way to the elevator, and was barely able to make out the number on the box’s door. Apartment 605. That put him in the dwelling right above hers. It was no wonder, from his height and bulk, that her evenings had recently become filled with the stomping of heavy footsteps from above. She’d been tempted to cause her own disturbance by banging the handle of her broom on the ceiling, but resisted, choosing instead to put in her earbuds. Now seeing the culprit, she could easily forgive his transgressions.
Had her friends been around, Okoye was sure that Aneka, the more laidback of the two, would have called him, “Beefy,” his arms bulging beneath his t-shirt (and stretching it close to capacity) with the flex of his elbow. While her other friend, Nakia, the well-read scholar, more likely would’ve gone the route of describing him as, “Tall, dark and handsome,” taking into account the brooding expression on his face as he sorted through his mail. It was probably all bills, much the way hers had been earlier.
Waiting for the elevator, Okoye continued to ogle him, pretending to be absorbed in her phone. His hands looked massive—the fingers long and tapered with what looked to be clean and neatly trimmed nails. This gave him another good checkmark in her book. There were few things more unattractive than a man with raggedy, dirty fingernails. His hands also looked strong, veins running across the unblemished skin on its back. She was just beginning to envision what those hands could do when he suddenly looked up, his eyes instantly locking on hers.
She’d been caught staring, like a weirdo. Reflexively, she wielded the most powerful weapon she currently had at her disposal: her smile. Beaming in his direction, she put her pearly whites on full display. She’d always been told that she had a radiant smile and prayed that it would help dispel any creepy stalker vibes that he could have been, incorrectly, sensing.
He smiled back, and her breath hitched. “Maybe not so dark after all,” she thought to herself, slightly dazed as she watched his face light up. To her astonishment, two small indentations appeared on either side of his cheeks. Dimples so adorable they gave him a boyish charm that refuted the badass energy evoked by his stature and muscles. She was close to smitten, to say the least.
Just as she was working up the courage to introduce herself, the elevator chimed behind her. Its doors slid open and the person inside, obviously in a hurry, clipped her shoulder on their way out. Turning to glare at them, Okoye found W’Kabi, the obnoxious butthole from down the hall. “Of course, it would be him,” her mind supplied as her glower deepened. Flipping him the bird behind his back, Okoye then returned her attention to the mailboxes. Unfortunately, it was to find that the handsome stranger had left before she could speak to him.
