Very fond of that headcanon where jayvik just gets teleported in another universe or back in time before everything went to shit and they shut eveything down, the hextech, the politics, drop all of it and opt for a quiet simple life anywhere (they still do invent and do esperiments/science, but not the on-the-verge-of-doom type, more of a laid back day-to-day-help sort of thing) but they just take care of each other, be together and revel in the second chance they have been given, never taking it for granted and being so obnoxiously in love it's unbearable to see

I read this tweet exchange and I just had to make it about jayvik because reasons

My friend and I were discussing about who has a more possessive or obsessive behaviour between Viktor and Jayce and she thought Viktor was the more possessive one, but I don't exactly agree, because when Jayce has to deal with other people/things, aside from a little grumbling and glaring Viktor really doesn't do anything (probably thinks he has no right to, but that's another post). Instead he stews and stews almost obsessively but never truly showing his emotions. Except when he's more confident with his mind and body once he becomes the Machine Herald and lets himself want and do things he wants to do without fear of consequences or shame.

So maybe they are a bit of both, and Jayce I think can get a bit unexpectedly possessive, not like in a bad way, more like in a unconscious subtle way. Aside from the obvious touching he has going on (he can't go five minutes without touching Viktor, really, he's insane), he also tries to always involve him, drops everything at the drop of the hat if he hears a whisper of him being in trouble or distress, brings him up in every conversation and calls him his partner every single time with no particular care or reason if it's relevant or pertinent. But for me the thing that absolutely pinpoints him as the epitome of gentle possessiveness is the fact that he's so used and has so much faith in Viktor always being around, in his orbit, that he doesn't even fathom the possibility of him existing apart of him. Not because of any selfish reason of Viktor not having a reason to exist without him, but because Jayce can't imagine his life without Viktor being there.

It's just a fact of life, the sky is blue, the grass is green, and his partner will always be there.

But the thing is, he's also extremely dense and oblivious about it. That's why when Viktor wakes up after fusing with the hexcore and leaves him, it takes him off-guard and completely shatters him. It's like every thing that he took for granted and considered fundamental truths just don't hold up anymore. He starts behaving erratically, throwing himself on things of fix, finding solutions.

They both stop functioning when they are far from each other for too long, it's like the universe loses its balance.

I don't know they are just so messy and devoted to each other and match each other's freak so well THEY MAKE ME SICK.

Jayvik AU with no Hextech, no problems (except good old fashioned social disparity UGH), EVERYONE IS ALIVE, where Viktor never left the Undercity, and he's sort of Silco's ward/adopted son along with Jinx and occasionally Vi (in this universe the Zaun dads are FINE and together don't ask me how it just is), and he works and experiments with Silco growing up hearing talks about independence and progress, and he really wants to do good for the people of Zaun (and Piltover too when he doesn't scoff at how condescending and untitled they are).

Life goes on as always, trying to get by with the scraps that Piltover leaves them, until Zaun is finally declared independent and a few zaunite representatives are invited to monthly represents the newly recognized state at Piltover's council meetings, among them there is Silco who one day brings along Viktor, and THAT'S where sparks fly between him and a scruffy all too goody shoes named Jayce Talis, pupil of Piltover's academy and counselor Kiramman's protegée.

Literally, because they cannot stand each other at the beginning and keep snarking at each other during meetings about science, about rights, about ANYTHING really (mostly it's Viktor initiating because he's a menace and deep down he enjoys riling up Piltover's golden boy), and they keep doing it in every fucking meeting and everyone is SICK of them, until one day Heimerdinger suggests that they should work together since they are both so good at science, and they really would love to argue but EVERYONE in the council agrees, even Silco, and it would be good for image and giving the idea of a united front, so they suck it up and agree.

And then that's that forced proximity that helps them recognize each other's qualities, how Viktor is sarcastic as much as brilliant and fundementally gentle and that is snarkiness is just a defense mechanism for much more complex emotions and issues (Jayce), how behind Jayce's golden boy attitude who longs to be praised facade there is a genuine desire to learn and do good (Viktor) and they realize they do work well together, they like doing it, and... oh. Oh.
