He goes home feeling rather confused - what on earth is he going to say to her tomorrow? - and also as though he's passed over some threshold. He has been kissed.
From Arco Iris, Chapter V
Never before tried to bring an adolescent (13) Shirley Blythe to life, but since starting a fan project for a fave fic, I’m thinking I have seriously never loved him more.

Alright I realise I’ve been talking about lots of different things with no particular direction over the past few couple of months so here is my current plan with regards to actual proper content. Please take the timeline with a pinch of salt as 1) I will often juggle multiple projects at the same time and 2) how much time I have to work on these severely depends on rl being nice to me.
Hopefully before the end of April

Which diaboy would go yandere for you quiz
As for the people who followed me for lore content, I’m afraid I don’t have any plans of posting any (mainly because of the recent lack of new content outside of merch). I would at some point like to make a post talking about Endzeit and Tuberculosis (because for anyone who doesn’t know, I currently work in the biochemistry field and disease and medicine has always been a big interest of mine and in LE it’s specifically stated that Endzeit has tuberculosis-like symptoms (plus it would be a good oppurtunity to spread some tuberculosis awareness because it’s much bigger issue in modern times than you might think if you live in the west)) but I make no promises on when that may appear.
Hopefully that should give you guys some idea of what I’m doing behind the scenes. I do plan to reopen that five line ask game soon but I’m going to get that fantasy AU quiz finished first. Hope you all have a good day!

The Colonies Of Old
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A messy sketch of the Final Light setting, with colours separating the territories. Northwest is mountains, northeast is a birch forest, west is a lake, southwest is rivers with a few trees, and southeast is a spruce forest. There’s a city in the far southeast and a small patch of territory in the north that separates the mountains and birch forest. A river separates the birch and spruce forest. End ID]
While the term suggests the colonies are a relic long gone, the colonies of old were only destroyed three years ago, still fresh in many minds. While the name can also refer to all factions prior to the Final Light, the term ‘colony’ specifically means a group of cats who believe in the Seasonal Deities and follow the Sacred Decree, the laws the deities instructed the colonies to follow.
Colony of Bones (Orange)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A drawing of a cave. There are various paw prints painted onto the walls in red. End ID]
Notable Traits: excellent hunters, stealthy, religious, and kind. Often have morbid views on death, and refuse to have any healers within the colony, as they believe it interferes with the plans of the gods.
Worships: the Squirrel, god of death, food, and rebirth.
With a territory of birch forest that dissolves into rocky ground and large caves, the Colony of Bones was well aware of the blessings they’d been given. They took to worshipping the Squirrel early on in their beginnings, thanking the god of food for everything they’ve been gifted. Over time, the blessings only grew as the colony discovered new materials. The birch trees had bark that could be fashioned into paper, and the inside could be ground into a powder, which could then be used to make new foods. Truly, the colony thought, the Squirrel favored them above all others.
The Colony of Bones used the bark to create scrolls, which they used to write myths and legends of the gods. Rituals began as the colony gave back to the gods, sacrificing meals, materials, tools, and religious objects in their name. The colony accepted death as a final step in a journey, and saw the eternal servitude that made up the colony’s afterlife as the greatest act of devotion a cat could do. They pitied the other colonies and the lack of their ‘enlightenment’, often gifting extra food or spare materials in times of need. To them, they were the ones guiding the others to the path the gods had laid out for them.
Colony of Fireflies (Green)
Notable Traits: crafty, adaptable, smart, good at survival. Lodgings are scattered across the territory, and several members don’t live in the main settlement. Exporter of City Cat goods, and primarily known for their diet of bugs and larvae. Least religious colony.
Worships: the Bear, god of survival, predators, preparation, and the sun.
If asked, the Colony of Fireflies would say they value ingenuity, thinking outside the box, family and teamwork, and being able to work under pressure. The colony expresses these values openly, encouraging its members to live in their own lodgings alongside their dennings outside of their settlement, and to try and hunt for themselves if possible. The colony cares for all of its members so no cat is truly alone, but the pride they feel for being able to live in smaller groups is obvious.
Ask anyone else what the Colony of Fireflies values, however, and they will immediately respond with ‘bugs’. The colony, unfortunately for them, is best known for having learned how to breed, grow, and eventually harvest bugs to use as food. Where other colonies would gag and turn their nose, the Colony of Fireflies grinned and took it as their own. Food is food, and they care little for where it comes from. Their most (in)famous dish, bugmeal, is ‘lovingly’ known as bugmush to the other colonies. Beetle breath, worm digger, and bug eater are just a few common names the colonies used for a Colony of Fireflies member.
Colony of Mist (Purple)
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A black and white drawing of rocky terrain and a few trees. There is a cat walking in the foreground. In the background, there is a large rock formation that looks like a yowling cat. End ID]
Notable Traits: traditionalist, stubborn, tough, intelligent or wise. Heavily enforced the Sacred Decree, and was once known for their public execution of lawbreakers. Historians and archivists, they are largely responsible for the naming and documentation of important events.
Worships: the Lynx, god of life, anger, and individuality.
Worshipers of the Lynx, the Colony of Mist walked on the same mountains, hunted the same prey, and followed the laws of the deities to their word just as the lynxes of old once did. This way of living was far from perfect, however. The territory they owned was unforgiving and easy to get lost in, and their prey, goats, were dangerous foes. Members rarely reached retirement in the Colony of Mist, instead finding themselves falling off cliffs, starving in the endless maze of tunnels, or at the sharp end of a goat’s horn. Despite the risks, the colony prided itself in their way of life.
The colony was best known for its hunting of goats, the treacherous mountains they lived on, and their traditional views. However, they were also uniquely known as historians, drawing and writing history and events on the walls of their tunnels and maintaining it for future generations. The tunnels, called the history tunnels, were special to the colony, and they saw it as a sacred duty to observe and watch events go by and to document them on the walls to preserve them. The other colonies saw them as nosy, disruptive, or at worst, as spies, but eventually began to adopt the historical terms the colony coined and sometimes actively helped with the writing of the history tunnels.
Colony of Storm (Light Blue)
Notable Traits: charismatic, sly, excellent builders and traders, good swimmers. The majority of all colony tools are made by the Colony of Storm, and a decent number of lodgings as well. The only colony known to buy hired claws from the city.
Worships: the Otter, god of plants, craftsmanship, and healing.
Once built on a life of constant hunger, the Colony of Storm’s territory had not been kind to them. While fish are plentiful during the warm seasons, the water becomes frozen during the winter, protecting the fish from becoming the colony’s next meal. Breaking the ice didn’t help, either; one wrong move and you’d fall right into the frozen waters. To survive the harsh winters, the colony turned to trade. Their lodgings were already expertly made to prevent them from becoming damp and to survive against the wind and weather, and with hunger as their motivation, their crafting of tools was honed. Even as conditions improved the colony stuck to their crafting roots, boasting some of the most skilled and masterful crafts and tools which have survived generations of use.
The colony’s problems didn’t end with the trade, however. Relationships began to sour one fall, and the other colonies refused to trade their food to the colony. Desperate, they turned to the city for aid. Many cats there were willing to work in exchange for goods, and the colony decided to offer shelter and healing to them in exchange for help with hunting. The solution worked, and the deal remained for any city cat to take- either in the summer or winter, any city cat could join the Colony of Storm and help hunt for food in exchange for all the benefits of a normal colony cat, and leave during the opposing season if they so wished. These hired claws were looked down on by the other colonies though, with some going as far as to say the Colony of Storm was no longer a ‘true’ colony.

Nothing quite like an old fixation on a certain dragon book series to bring my illustrative side back to life. Hopefully I can keep the pencil active through art block.
Mainly all WIPs, will I ever finish them? Who knows, but I’ll leave them here for now.

the way i have this whole story for gravity falls (stan x reader x ford) and am so tempted to write it but i need to finish my other wips
so i'll just dump it out here (some of this is also somewhat inspired by the swooning over stans dating sim)
-
pretty much the premise is that you are dating ford during the time that he's deep into his research into gravity falls. you become uncomfortable seeing how bill takes over his body and the havoc bill causes when he's in ford's body and after seeing what happened to fiddleford when entering the portal, give him an ultimatum: cut ties with bill or you're done.
of course, ford chooses his research. ford chooses bill.
you can't get over him, and after countless nights of tears, you appeal to fiddleford to let you use his memory gun to erase the memory of ford from your mind.
and he does.
you move back home, confused on how you ended up in a small town in oregon but fiddleford makes up a story, saying you were an old friend, visiting him while he was doing research. you lead a normal life free of the paranormal for many years. you sometimes have dreams, visions of a face that should be familiar but you can't seem to make it out.
planning out a roadtrip through the pacific northwest, you find yourself in explicably drawn to the town of gravity falls and figure you might as well check it out since it's on the way through your drive up to washington, you figure why not.
your car ends up dying on you, the battery giving out almost five miles out of town. as you're on the phone trying to map to the nearest towing company, a gruff voice calls out, asking if you need a hand.
you look up to see stan, his window rolled down and his arm dangling out the side of the car.
why does he look familiar? you think to yourself as you put down your phone.
"yeah if you have jumper cables, i just need to get my car running to get to the next town and hopefully get a replacement battery." you say.
"of course, i have jumper cables, kid - look at my car, you think i haven't been stranded out here myself." stan chuckles, making a effortless u turn with one hand before pulling his car close to yours.
you pop the hood of your car, giving stan access to hook up the jumper cables. you both stand in silence while stan attaches the cables to your car before stan's voice cuts through, "so uh, what brings you out here? you just driving through?"
you almost chuckle at his awkwardness, "sort of. i'm doing a whole road trip through the pacific northwest. i was gonna check out this town ahead, gravity falls."
stan blinks, expecting you to just be passing through the town. his lips spread into a grin, pulling out a business card from his leather jacket. "well, if you're stopping by, you gotta check out the mystery shack! one stop shop for mysterious oddities!"
you take the business card with a giant question mark on the front. you look up at stan, almost feeling like this is a con but as your car starts up to life, you figure you might as well check out what sounds like a tourist trap to appease the man who just helped you.
after driving your car to the mystery shack, you get a tour from stan himself, who shares that he used to be the former owner. as you walk around the building, it almost feels like home, like you've been here before.
talk about deja vu.
little did you know that you would run into the man that you once loved as you rounded the corner, finishing the tour. ford was outside fiddling with a new device with his back turned to you and stan elbows you in the arm, "that's my poindexter brother, ford. he's always working on a some geeky invention."
"you know i can hear you, stanley?" ford sighs, turning around to face you two.
he freezes, seeing the woman that left him all those years ago. "y/n?" he calls out to you.
you blink, stan staring at the two of you in confusion and you tilt your head, confused yourself, "sorry... have we met before? how do you know my name?"
