I have to give a #bday #shoutout to my personal #favorite - André 3000! Happy 44th. . I saw these pieces by @occasionalsuperstar and was like “Gih’em to me!” . I sat on them in my office for about a year and half until I had them framed PROPERLY...#onlythebest . I have a few 3000/OutKast stories. . Here is ☝🏾 - I bought The Class of 3000 soundtrack years before my daughter was born while I was still living in Atlanta. When she was born, I was unrelenting in making her a 3000 fan. I played that soundtrack damn near everyday for the first 3 years of her life. I showed her the cartoons. She became a Sonny fan to my André. We would drive around blasting it together. When I brought her back to ATLANTA to hang out with my friends, that was our soundtrack. She was into it legit as well. #missionaccomplished. . Fast forward a few years and I’m picking her up from @lrei after piano class. She’s usually beat and sleepy so I drive those days. Well one day I don’t know but she fell asleep soon as we got in the car. I go my usual way - up Bleecker right on Broadway. And who do I see walking 🚶‍♀️down #broadway. I turned back and she was so peacefully KNOCKED out I couldn’t wake her. I let that moment pass. That’s one regret I have. I should have woke her ass up and stopped so she could meet him. #nexttime for sure. There will be one. . I did a collection called OUTKAPSULE for the 20 year reunion of DF at #OMF2017. That first design was one the first ideas I had when I started BXB. But it had no place. This year at #OMF17 I had the opportunity to delve deeper into the fine arts and vendor segment of the festival, and I was not disappointed! The prowess displayed in various artistic mediums and products could only be paralleled by the musicians themselves! It was BEYOND refreshing to see so many black creatives and business owners join forces, sharing their gifts and visions to propel their brands and expand their messages to such a large and diverse audience. OMF felt like a reprieve from the harsh realities of the storms we're currently facing- natural and otherwise. Thanks @onemusicfest for another event to remember!
