Concept: Sonic going to Soleanna for some reason, bumping into Elise and they just lock eyes for a second with the weirdest sense of deja vu.

“Have I… met you before?”

YES YES!! EXACTLY EXACTLY!!

it seems like in canon sonic actually remembers the events of 06, at least somewhat, but the ending of 06 is super open and seems to hint that something feels familiar so i LOVE this idea

they feel SO familiar for some reason. Have we met before? she swears she's seen those eyes before, he swears he's heard her laugh before. how do i know you? And they dont know! But that sense of familiarity makes them feel like theyre closer and they get to know each other, bit by bit, relearning about each other!!!

Sonic is just visiting the country for some reason or another, maybe it's a different celebration that's happening or maybe it's the sun festival, a different year and a different timeline but it's still there or maybe he's just sightseeing.

he's heard the sunsets are gorgeous this time of the year, that the canals reflect the light like an all consuming fire and he's so caught up in admiring all the beautiful buildings and towers that he doesn't realize someone's in front of him.

he bumps into them and they almost fall except he catches them before that can happen, of course, he holds them lightly while he stabilizes them on their feet. obviously they're human because of the height difference and he doesn't see their face.

as soon as they're alright he looks up and he opens his mouth with something akin to "sorry about that" on the tip of his tongue except something happens before he can even really begin his sentence.

emerald meets sapphire and Sonic blinks and it's like a lifetime just flashed before his eyes but it was all too fast, even for him, and he's just left with the vague sensation of having stared into those eyes before.

it seems like the stranger had the same sensation because her mouth also parts and she looks at him in some familiar way too,

"have we... met before?"

it's a strange feeling. like he's known this person before, he barely held onto her but he knows how her hand feels in his and she's only spoken a couple of words to him, yet he knows, somehow, he knows that he could pick out her laugh from a crowd.

it's like something he forgot. but he forgot, he can't remember, that's just how that works and though he's not sure how he knows what her laugh sounds like, he'd like to hear it again. make sure it's as authentic as his memory tells him it is.

Well. No time like the present.

"Don't think so.” he smirks. “I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog!"

He does a little one-finger salute and the stranger smiles with something like fondness and nostalgia.

"I'm Elise."

Timeline: Season 1

The RAD bell rang, dismissing class. Charis exhaled, running a hand through their hair, knocking their halo slightly to the side before it floated back into place. Not one run-in with Asmodeus today!

They knew the exchange program was meant to foster relationships between angels and demons, they *knew* that. That’s why they supported Diavolo so wholeheartedly in the first place! They wanted the kingdoms to be united, to get rid of any silly rivalries between the three…and make amends with a certain someone. In their head it had all gone quite well. But actually being around Asmo was so *aggravating!* 

He clearly still held a grudge from the Great War. Not that Ris blamed him at all…but they had tried *everything,* besides straight up begging for his forgiveness, which they were certainly not going to do!

And Asmodeus had already crossed a line! Thank Heaven Barbatos was willing to lend them a spell to stop Asmo’s charm powers from working on them. Being charmed by him had been humiliating…

Charis trotted towards the spot where they usually met Luke and Simeon. They were ready to get back to Purgatory Hall and-

Oh, *great.*

Instead of Luke or Simeon waiting in the corner, Asmodeus was leaning against the wall, a small bag in his hand.

*Maybe if I walk away slowly, he won’t notice me…* Ris began to back up, but Amso turned just in time. His face lit up, but as always, there was something mischievous behind it…

“Ris!” Asmo waved, calling them over, smile radiant as ever. 

Ris walked over and plastered a friendly smile on their face, “Hi Asmodeus!”

Asmo waggled his fingers in a small wave. “You won’t believe what I’ve got! It took *forever* to get it.” He pinched the top of the bag between his forefinger and thumb, jangling it around. 

“Well, what is it?” Ris’ curiosity was piqued now. They leaned forward, wondering what could possibly be in that little bag. 

Asmo paused for dramatic effect, grinning. “Human. Candy.”

“Oh!” Ris put a hand up to their mouth. *Human delicacies!* Some of the other human students had offered them human food before, but never *candy!* This was so exhilarating!

“May I try one!?” Ris couldn’t help but shake their fists in excitement. 

Asmo smiled, pausing to check his nails. “Oh, I don’t know…” he batted his eyelashes, “What do I get in return?”

Ris deflated. Of *course* there was a catch. Asmodeus was a demon, after all. He knew how fascinated Ris was with the human world, and now he was using it against them!

“Surely you can let me try one, out of the goodness of your heart?” Ris beamed their most charming smile. 

For a second they thought she would agree…! But then she shook her head, smirking, “Hmm…nope!”

It had been worth a try. Ris tapped nervously at their lips as they stared at the bag of candy. There was no telling what she would make them do!

“How about this,” Asmo put her hands up as if she just devised a great idea, “you come shopping with me, and you get to carry all my bags and things. You can be like my loyal little dog!” She beamed innocently, but there was nothing innocent about her tone.

Ris folded their arms, “There’s no way I’m doing that.”

“Come on, it’ll just be *one* day.”

“Uh-uh.”

“You’re so strong, carrying all that will be easy for you!”

“Nope.”

Asmodeus sighed and pouted, “Then I guess no human candy for you.”

Ris bit their lip, considering it all. It *was* just for a day…

“Alright. But no posting pictures on Devilgram,” they pointed a finger.

“Aw, what-“ Asmo started to object.

“And, I get three pieces of candy. Final offer!”

The two stared each other down for a moment…before Asmo relented, extending a hand with a smile, “Deal.”

This was a terrible idea. Ris took her hand in theirs and shook it.

[<- guy whos only just caught on to the podcast craze after seeing ppl rave abt it for years] getting into podcasts has been such a good decision actually doing daily chores is sometimes even enjoyable now that i can listen to my little entertaining radio stories do u think ppl know about this. revolutionary. ANYWAY!

- AuDy being uncomfortable with the whole hacking into bots thing :( + the JM unit seeming like it was gaining sentience the more Mako hacked it (+some things that come up a few eps lated re: the way hacking works in this universe). also the JM units are so funny.

- im loving the (what seems to be a) pattern where jack's characters all play so....idk inconspicuously? until they do some off the cuff shit -> AuDy impulsively kidnapping sister rust bc she was just laying there knocked out & they were like oh free ransom. spiritually very similar to lem impulsive staying in death city after being told it would trap him & his friends there purely because he wanted to like go to a museum & also chat with the guy he developed a parasocial relationship with.

- i love the way they're playing this game where theres one party doing the traditional tabletop rpg playing as a group of characters doing their thing & then theres the other party playing as the different factions of the universe itself - the governmental & corporate bodies that rule over the planets. its cool & more than that i didnt think about it before it came up but it is actually quite refreshing to have these sort of pov breaks

- more divine lore yayy! grace is pretty much exactly what i expected but still fun. love that thing that happened with her at the end of the scene where she induced some kind of emotional/psychological (religious) experience in everyone around her by like talking to them in their heads/making them feel physical sensations. her candidate didnt talk or do much in this scene but i liked the glimpse of the like body modifications they undergo in order to connect to the divines. righteousness sounds sooo cool like design wise havent met them yet but they sound appropriately insane. & Lux + Voice + Loyalty is soo interesting. as of the episode ive gotten to they dont seem to have quite decided whether Voice is fully artificial or whether its a legit divine the September Institute hacked & like reprogrammed to their own ends. but the thing about how every time one of the Institute's hackers do their hacking thing its actually Voice influencing the bot/mech/etc was definitely interesting remembering the like very coy hints austin kept giving about the JM unit gaining a little bit more sentience & independence the more Mako hacked it. Loyalty sounds so sweet & nice & also so so gullible poor Loyalty but also extremely thematically fitting of course to make Loyalty so easily blinded & swayed by some attachment to an individual to the point where it clouds their judgement.
