I feel like we as a fandom had a lot of this conversation during Campaign 2 but redemption, however you may interpret it, is a process. It is not a binary of redeemed and not redeemed. And in the world of a D&D actual play, a lot of the hard decisions really come down to "is the harm this person did actively ongoing, or is it a past action with ongoing ramifications" and "will they stop doing this continued harm quickly enough for it to matter." It sounds cold to say that it's a risk-benefit analysis, but on some level, it has to be be. I think Bor'Dor was likely redeemable in some abstract sense, but could Team Issylra do it with the time and resources they had without risking their own lives? Probably not. I think the same is true with Liliana: if they had months in which to do this - and they have been contacting her on and off for a couple months, and every effort failed - maybe, but the clock's run out.

Commission of Mr and Mr Rahn (now that I'm officially done with my own silly joke, who got whose family name in this marriage anyway?) for @ribbonkandy I loved drawing them so much, thank you for letting me run wild with parts of their designs! ❤️

Call me a sap if you must but I love how BSD is essentially a manga that is character driven in the sense that each character's drives and goals and searches are entangled with other characters (or a noticeable lack of them).
Like Atsushi with the orphanage headmaster drilling into him how he must find his worthiness in being alive in saving people, how the ADA has deeply affected his growth, his relationship to Akutagawa. And same for Akutagawa, too, with Dazai and Gin and Higuchi being the driving factors behind him. And we have Dazai get Odasaku and Ango and his relationships to the members of the ADA like Kunikida and Ranpo. And Kyouka and Kouyou's effect on each other, Kouyou's past with the mystery guy at 15 who died and her strange dynamic with the PM members in general, similar to Kyouka and Atsushi and Kyouka and her parents.
Just....they're all searching for meaning and the manga gives us different aspects of it - ideals, a perceived divine purpose, the act of striving - but it all goes back to other people, particularly one's relationships with other people for ill or good. Maybe we won't get an answer on what the meaning of life is in BSD - I don't think it's the kind of manga that will do that (basing itself on more darker postmodern philosophies and all). But I do think it consistently shows that it is also our relationships with people that make life meaningful, even if other people are also the reason life can be a hellish nightmare.
It's like. Why live? What's the meaning of life? "Who knows, really, but I'd really like it if this person I love would keep living (and maybe they think the same of me, too)."

After some careful consideration, I've decided I'm going to be taking a little break.
The Covid fatigue is something fierce this time around, and it's taking a toll on me mentally and physically. Not to mention that work has been extremely busy, and that in and of itself has drained me completely.
All this has stunted my writing drive. And every time I try to go back and work on it, I feel like I'm forcing myself to do so. Which is not an aspect I enjoy.
I love writing. It's very therapeutic for me. But at this point, I think it's time to take a step back, to rest, and to let my mind and body recover. (Which is really unfortunate because I had some really thirsty cute ideas for Valentine's Day)
I don't think I'll be gone for very long. A week. Two at most.
Going to let the qeue run in my absence. Also going to throw in a couple thirsty Soap thoughts into the mix that I've been holding on to.
I have tons of Captain MacTavish content for you all to come, and I'm really excited that I got my first '🛞⭕💢⭕💢🛞' ask (thank you, love).
Thank you all for understanding, and I hope to return to you with a rejuvenated vigor and an undying thirst for that Scottish menace.
(Please tag me in as much Soap content as you want. I'll gladly drown myself in it when I get back.)
Much love 💛 and Stay Thirsty 🧼
-Soap Squad President, going dark.

WIP. me & @ceridwenannywl came to the same conclusion that Ominis is popsicle-coded. I want to do a whole series of Ominis using Sebastian as his personal space heater.

I don't think Mike being gay would be a retcon to the show bc here's the thing:
Their most romantic moments happened in the same season that El is constantly called a boy (don't at me, it was an active choice on the part of the crew). This persists even after she puts on a dress (see: after the quarry when Troy is speaking to Hopper and comments that she barely looks like a girl or something similar). This stops in season 2, where they barely see each other except for like two scenes. Also all of the romantic parallels I've seen only occurs after the episode where Mike is pushed towards El.
I've also noticed that Mike generally seems almost uncomfortable with talking about El in a romantic light? Right after calling her pretty he quickly changes the wording when the guys make faces at him.
Mike is our perspective character in season one and even if he's gay, if he genuinely believed that he liked El, they most likely would've framed it that way. Stranger Things deals with unreliable narrators after all.
El's femininity is almost indirectly linked to the downfall Mike and El's romance.
There's also something to be said about Mike not being able to explain why El couldn't be his sister. At the point he and El were pretty much matching energy on the confusion levels.
Mike just doesn't seem to show interest in girls and how they look. This is also a choice made by the crew from the jump.

honestly really truly hate the way the bear fandom talks about claire as if she isn’t a person who deserves to have her full personhood recognized and loved rather than be used as a fantasy and crutch for carmy to try to make his way through his trauma and that he subsequently discards at the drop of a hat when he thinks everything goes to shit. you don’t have to like carmy and claire as a couple and it’s clear they’re not meant to be bc carmy’s childhood torment convinced him to believe she could be his way out. but carmy still treated her like shit and to perceive her like she’s a threat to the restaurant or to sydney when carmy is the one who dragged her into his world and imposed her on everyone is insane. claire never asked for anything. she never asked to be used this way and if carmy cast all responsibilities aside that’s bc of his own decisions and inability to dedicate himself where it matters bc he’s busy trying to sort through his trauma first and using other people to do it
