the ending to the new Onmyoji anime on Netflix is such a pretty song... i usually skip endings but i always scramble to "watch credits" for it. i really loved the imagery of the audience catching a glimpse of Seimei's life at a distance, until the end when the distance vanishes with Hiromasa's visit, and the music is so gentle and kind

and imo the full song by ao is even better—idk how to describe it but the texture of the beginning of the full version is really interesting and sets up the atmosphere of the song really well. the singer's voice is really beautiful, and now that she's on my radar i'll keep an eye on her discography for sure

muzan ramblings

i've been immersing myself in heian period-related media once more (onmyoji, hikari no go, the tale of genji, the hyakkunin isshu) and i found myself wondering, just how much of the heian gentleman was muzan?

as we know, the male courtly ideal of the heian period was centred around the arts – to appreciate and compose poetry, to have excellent handwriting, and to possess musical skill (which is why seimei teases hiromasa for his incompetence in poetry and is surprised at his prowess on the fue). the heian courtier must also be sensitive and in tune with his emotions (see: tale of genji, and fujiwara no sai, who both shed a lot of tears).

we know muzan was, for a good part of his human life, bedridden. did that mean he was, by default, not invited to the countless poetry recitals and royal occasions because of his ill health? or did he participate only when he felt able to do so?

for some strange reason, i cannot imagine muzan participating in these things. while in KNY he does appear to be fascinated by western imports and does appear to have a great taste and appreciation for the arts, i can easily also see muzan as holding the expressive and frivolous heian court in disdain.

or did he compose poems as he laid on his bed, day after day, lamenting his frail state? we also know that he had five wives, who killed themselves in succession due to his cruelty – surely he must have won them over with his words and charms. did he assume a facade of a charming gentleman then, only to reveal his true self after he was wedded?

Onymoji (Ep 3)

This episode broke me. 😭 *spoilers below*

Lady Fujiko lost her husband in war and she was drown in sorrow for three years until a young girl named, Kujo came and play biwa for her. Kujo's music and cheerfulness touch Fujiko deeply that their bond grow stronger as Kujo came to visit her everyday. Kujo did not only become Fujiko's friend but her sister.

But one day, Kujo stop visiting her. Fujiko was worried that out of desperation turned to a "sorceress" for help in finding her. Kujo later visits her Fujiko again, but only at night and although her music and cheerfulness remains her face is pale.

Onmyoji Abe no Seimei investigates and learns that Kujo had died. The "sorceress" resurrect her to fulfil Fujiko's wishes to see her again, but at a cost. The longer Kujo lives, the shorter Fujiko will live. When the truth is revealed and despite both Kujo and Fujiko wishes to be together, Kujo sacrifice herself for Fujiko.

I usually try to match my partner so I almost never get to write in past tense these days, but my writing comes so much more easily in past tense. I also enjoy writing grand, sweeping scenes and descriptions of places/things.

Hi! I’m Alistair— you can call me that, or you can use my username for pretty much everywhere else, TheetyPie/Theety. I don’t mind either way.

I’m a trans guy, I use he/they pronouns. I’m panromantic/asexual, and I’m 27 years old.

I have 3 cats, they’re my babies. I also (as you can tell from above) have a lot of OCs, and the number is still growing. I want to turn my ideas into a bigger creation someday, still not sure exactly where I want to go with it.

I do more than write. I do art, I like video games, music, and just collecting stuff. Current obsessions are Monster High, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, makeup, crystals, and jewelry.

Rules

The most important: I do not RP smut. In the past I’ve used the fade-to-black method, but I’m not entirely comfortable with that with most of my muses.

In the same vein, DO NOT FORCE SHIPS. I love ships as much as the next guy, but I would prefer to discuss it first, or for us to agree on it. It’s cool if your muse has a crush, totally fine— mine get crushes all the time! But make sure if you want to ship, we discuss it first.

In a similar vein to that one as well, no god-modding/powerplaying. If your character is strong, an immortal being, or whatever, cool! I have some of those too. But there should always be a limit. Don’t say your character is moving mine unless we’ve talked about that. Attempt to move them. Usually I follow along as long as boundaries aren’t pushed.

Don’t kill or seriously injure my muse without permission. Fights happen, of course, but again: discussion. I’m up for threads where my canon muses are injured or killed, but not where it happens to my OCs, unless we’re getting into a backstory and another OC that’s already deceased dies. Non-serious injuries are alright to come out of nowhere with, but if it’s a first meeting, I’d prefer to plot it out.

I’m semi-selective. I’m kind of particular about who I follow and who I thread with. I prefer us to be mutuals to thread, but you don’t have to be mutuals to send me things.

I’m very bad at keeping up with people. If you message me and I don’t respond, it’s usually bc I’m shy, I forgot, or I’m busy with work. It’s not you, I promise. Usually I don’t message first bc I’m nervous.

Back to shipping: I’m also multiship. Usually my ships are in different universes, unless discussed with all parties beforehand. The exception is a few of my OCs that are partnered together— ask about their availability. I love random ships, just talk to me about them!

I love duplicates of my muses. Whether it’s “x meets self” or I find someone I share a muse with, I love RPing with just about everyone. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we have a muse in common!

Last Book: A light novel called "Onmyoji and Tengu Eyes: The Spirit Hunters of Tomoe" by Yoshiko Utamine. It had mystery, bromance, angst, supernatural elements and had a modern day Japanese setting. I was hooked, haven't read the second one yet.

Currently Watching: My mom and I started "Loki" season one. After she finished 'The Mandolorian' season three, I told her to pick between Andor and Loki. She told me that she's a Tom Hiddleston fan (news to me) now that she's seen him dance (not sure where, could have been many a video) I now wonder what she is watching on her phone. She spoke about his slender hips and of course his accent. Also watching 'The Irrationals' and 'Found" MPG should not make me feel things in his role on 'Found'. @megamindsecretlair help me understand 😫

Current Obsession: Pedro Pascal, Writing fanfic about Pedro Pascal characters, reading writers' Pedro Pascal character pics, working on my BSN so when I'm ready to leave bedside I can. Also Pedro Pascal stationary and stickers, I spread them on my unit at work. Someone stuck one on a computer and environmental services liked it and left it. I started giving them to docs, NPs, PAs and other departments I like. 🥰

Currently working on: Too many WIPs. I got series hanging in wind, I've made late night notes of ideas that are very strange bullet points when I wake up and I'm trying to focus which I'm not great at. Right now, it would be Tommy Miller, Javier Peña and Dieter, but I may finish my Dave York series first so at least one is finished.

Country I want to visit: Japan for sure. The United Kingdom because of double decker buses. Belize and Ireland due to parts of my family being from there, plus they're so vastly different, how did the one side of my family get to both places?
