i feel like mighty med kept forgetting the setting they put themselves in
firstly, the show is set in philidelphia and while there are white areas of philidelphia, it's pretty known as a city with a lot of black people (but ofc disney can't have black people matter IM KIDDING). there's no speaking black character and most of the background ones are superheroes that probably aren't even from philidelphia (im not even that pressed about it, im just black and from philidelphia so it slightly irked me)
and secondly, the most important one, mighty med is behind a normo hospital and the only way to get in is through the supply closet (that's what the first episode makes it seem like) but then throughout the show multiple villains and heroes get in and out easily
HOW IN GOD'S NAME ARE THE VILLAINS MAKING THEIR WAY THROUGH THE HOSPITAL TO ENTER THROUGH THE SUPPLY CLOSET???? (like you're telling me that catastrophe just trekked through the normo hospital and no one batted an eye)
many times heroes (mainly tecton) will fly upwards and be able to leave and captain atomic even mentions how there used to be a skylight in the ceiling....
and in elite force, kaz has a picture of the outside of mighty med...
HOW DID NO CIVILIAN NOTICE THAT???
mighty med must be in cahoots with the normo hospital because there's no way the injured heroes could be wheeled through the normo hospital into mighty med on full gurneys and not get noticed (also the gurney wouldn't fit into the supply closet...)
ALSO they mention/allude to multiple ways of getting out/in mighty med, like optimo coming in through an off screen entrance and the invisible ambulance being able to leave the hospital
the supply closet is a cool detail but if you're gonna show other ways of getting in and out then just stop making the supply closet the only way to get in (im looking at you copy kaz)

I have soooo many EF AU thoughts but the most prominent ones on my mind right now are:
- Alan and Horace were in Mighty Med when it collapsed. Horace used his powers to buy Alan enough time to escape, dying in the process.
- Alan continues his uncle's legacy and becomes the great Healer of Heroes, Asclepius (the Greek god of healing; his staff was very similar to the Caduceus).
- He later gains the Caduceus power, which can only be held by one member of the Diaz family at a time and must be earned (so basically, Alan had to prove he was worthy of it, like Thor's hammer).
- Bridget & Nelson teamed up to find the people who destroyed Mighty Med. They have a lot of serious talks about parenting styles (I think it'd be funny if they dated, because it means Alan would get the same stepmom twice).

Bertrand Russell – The best answer to fanaticism (16/12/1951) The New York Times
[…] Perhaps the essence of liberal outlook could be summed up in a new decalogue, not intended to replace the old one but only to supplement it. The Ten Commandments that, as a teacher, I should wish to promulgate, might be set forth as follows:
(1) Do not feel absolutely certain of anything.
(2) Do not think it worth while to produce belief by concealing evidence, for the evidence is sure to come to light.
(3) Never try to discourage thinking, for you are sure to succeed.
(4) When you meet with opposition, even if it should be from your husband or your children, endeavour to overcome it by argument and not by authority, for a victory dependent upon authority is unreal and illusory.
(5) Have no respect for the authority of others, for there are always contrary authorities to be found.
(6) Do not use power to suppress opinions you think pernicious, for if you do the opinions will suppress you.
(7) Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.
(8) Find more pleasure in intelligent dissent that in passive agreement, for, if you value intelligence as you should, the former implies a deeper agreement than the latter.
(9) Be scrupulously truthful, even when truth is inconvenient, for it is more inconvenient when you try to conceal it.
(10) Do not feel envious of the happiness of those who live in a fool’s paradise, for only a fool will think that it is happiness.
[HIS] […]

VA - Cease & Resist - Sonic Subversion & Anarcho Punk In The UK 1979-86 - new comp from Optimo Music
Anarcho Punk was the one sub-genre of Punk that emerged in isolation from the rock & roll establishment. During its pioneering days of the early 1980s it thrived in opposition to the music industry, existing as a fiercely underground alternative to the bands, labels and venues of the commercialised mainstream Punk scene. It continues to do so. Anarcho Punk represented one of the last truly underground and autonomous music movements ever witnessed and remains a movement that has never sold out and has never gone away. The major differentiation between the Anarcho Punk acts and the more traditional Punk outfits was that for the former, albeit often more due to musical limitation than intent, the message was more important than the music. Standard song structures were often dispersed with in favour of a relentless lyrical polemic accompanied by a similarly uncompromising aural assault. As the scene grew, so did the diversity of records that emerged under the Anarcho Punk umbrella: from D & V (drums & vocals) to the proto-EBM synth-pop of Belfast’s one-man Hit Parade and the Dadaist Beefheart hybrid of The Cravats. In later days the two biggest acts of the scene, Flux of Pink Indians and Crass themselves, both released LPs which had more in common with improv Jazz than hardcore punk. The resounding victory of Anarcho Punk is that it is now a the unifying soundtrack to a culture of resistance that spans Scotland to Indonesia and remains without compromise. It is still as removed from mainstream music and oppositional to conventional culture as it was over forty years ago and shows no sign of changing. Quite the opposite: the more popular Anarcho Punk becomes the less it has to engage with the music establishment and the more control it can enjoy. In 2023, that message remains as uncompromising as ever. This is a double vinyl retrospective compilation of some of the most radical music ever made, a musical force that changed lives. Covering the years 1979 - 86 and including classic tracks from Crass, Poison Girls, Flux Of Pink Indians, The Mob, Zounds, Annie Anxiety, The Ex, ATV plus 10 more, all newly remastered by iconic Punk mastering engineer Daniel Husayn. It has been lovingly compiled by JD Twitch and Anarcho legend Chris Low and was ten years in the making. There are also a couple of previously unreleased mixes included. It comes as a high quality double vinyl pressing, and has a full colour sleeve with back and front images designed by the legendary Gee Vaucher. It also comes with a 6 page fold out poster on one side with detailed sleeve notes, recollections and essays on the other side. The compilation is a fundraiser for Faslane Peace Camp. Not so far from Glasgow Faslane Naval Base is home to Britain's abhorrent Trident nuclear missiles. The camp has been there, protesting since 1982 and is still active to this day. We hope in our lifetime we will see those missiles leave Scottish soil. We have so much respect for those who have dedicated their lives to protesting these weapons and it seemed an obvious choice that the proceeds from this release should go to help them, and the Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Anyone know how to unlock NFC on a Tracfone? I'm trying to join a medical study that will pay me something but for whatever reason Tracphone disables NFC in phones, even those that already have it, and I need NFC to participate in the study.
(Also I can't access the full functions of my Digimon Vital Bracelet)

Rialto, CA-based soul outfit Brainstory will be releasing their Leon Michels-produced sophomore album Sounds Good on Friday through renowned purveyors of soul, Big Crown Records. The album will feature: “Gift of Life,” a lush, old-school, Quiet Storm-like, show-topping ballad built around a shimmering and vibey arrangement featuring fluttering, ethereal flute paired with Kevin Martin’s emotive, falsetto croon and some incredibly catch hooks. While the song see the band pulling from classic soul, psych soul and dub in a way that sounds like it could been released sometime between 1968-1974, “Gift of Life,” manages to feel remarkably modern.  “Listen,” a classic, two-step inducing groove-driven song with shimmering analog synths, an overdrive-fueled guitar solo paired with some dreamy falsetto melodies and harmonies that sounds — to me, at least — as though it could have been been a Mandrill or Isley Brothers B side. The song sees the band’s Kevin Martin encouraging the listener to spend some time enjoying the present moment, because life’s all too short and remarkably fleeting “Peach Optimo,” a slow-burning and summery bit of psych soul anchored around a strutting and wobbling bass line, glistening keys, some funky drum rhythm patterns and an expressive guitar solo paired with some retro-futuristic synths. Seemingly channelling JOVM mainstays Mildlife and L’Eclair, sees the trio diving into the banality and simple pleasures of teenaged suburban life — full of the nostalgia of cul-de-sac hangs and bullshit sessions with the homies. Sounds Good‘s fifth and latest single “XFaded” is a strutting, hook-driven and funky psych soul jam anchored around an arrangement featuring skittering boom bap, a sinuous bass line and squiggling bursts of guitar. According to the trio, the song’s sound was partially inspired by what theft thought a modern day George Clinton/Parliament funk jam would sound like — and by small town life, where getting fucked up is an unofficial/official pastime because there isn’t much else to really do. The slick Leon Michels production paired with the band’s razor sharp yet seemingly effortless performance ironically contrasts the notion of getting sloppy and fucked up but reveals the easy-going chemistry between the trio and producer. The trio are about to embark on a run of headlining Stateside dates and a couple of stops on the global festival circuit, before joining Lady Wray in May for a run of UK and European Union dates. Hey does anyone know why the Mighty Med wiki seems CONVINCED that Hapax the Elder is Optimo's dad?? Like it references scenes where they interact (which NEVER happened) and even says his last name is Gonzales.
