(taking a really long drag off a cigarette) i know the joke is that osomatsu at 18 is the exact same as osomatsu current but didnt he seem angrier to you. just in general. i cannot imagine how teenage angst would hit you if you were also a sextuplet

like he was probably as carefree and stupid as usual with literally everyone else to be fair. but w his brothers it's like ough. i wonder if the "getting sick of the sextuplet schtick" hit him the hardest in HS. he's the only one who isnt visibly annoyed in the sleeping scene but he's also the one saying "why are there six of us?"

i thibk osomatsu has genuine qualms w being a sextuplet. we see him complain abt it to chibita in episode 2. i dont think they were totally unfounded or made up on the spot, that's stuff he was holding deep in his core

and i think esp in an environment like high school, and w being such an egotistical brat, oso wouldve started resenting not having his own identity just like the others. i imagine he wouldve channeled his clingy brattiness into being a nuisance to all of his peers. it's just that now, in adulthood, he literally doesnt have anyone else in his life, so his brattiness has fallen back onto his brothers.

ironic to how he is now, i think the "why are you asking me? that's your problem" response to totty comes from resenting the sextuplet status quo they'd established as kids of them expecting him to know what to do and expecting to follow his lead and having eldest brother expectations of him forever and ever. why do you assume we're going to be together forever? don't you know i'm going to make it out on my own in the real world?

it's interesting it was between totty and oso cuz it seemed like hs totty wanted things to stay the way they were the most. regressing and acting even more kid like. so to me oso saying that to totty specifically is a like "why are you expecting things to stay the way they were forever?" kind of thing

i feel like (inhaling more smoke) it's kind of like the fight at their grad ceremony kind of unlocked those revelations for them. we've just had the worst fight of our lives but at the end of the day we all have to take the same route home to all sleep in the same futon. we're going to be brothers no matter what. for better or for worse we're shackled sextuplets forever and ever.

Everything just kinda clicks because even though he hates it, they're stuck together. And he doesn't have any idea on what he's gonna do, he knows Totty doesn't know what to do, and it's probably easy for him to guess that the rest of them don't know what to do either. They're stuck together and none of them have a plan for the future besides that. i think oso was coasting by on this idea that "everything would work out somehow" (very oso-like) and this is the wakeup call that no, if left unattended, this is how your problems will fester

i also really often think about 18oso's reaction to finding out they're neets in the future. yes this is funny yes this is deeply sad but i also remember being really taken aback by it when i first saw it

like obviously after you think about it for 1.5 seconds like, yes, obviously oso didn't realize at age 18 that he was going to be a jobless bum well into his 20s. being a jobless bum wasn't what he had envisioned for his life. but juxtaposed with how carefree current osomatsu is with his life it really is funny to realize like oh, yeah, there was a point in time, most of their life really, where they thought they'd be something when they were adults

i think oso had always wanted his own identity like any other teen, but now that the only people left in his life as an adult are his brothers he's just clinging to his identity as niichan. but maybe this is the smoke inhalation talking

i think if oso had any other friends than his twins he would not be this annoying. but he doesn't

Aylin is my stylist OC for the Nikki games. Aylin serves the role the "player" fills in within shining nikki albeit with some divergents from the storylines of the nikki games. Aylin uses she/they pronouns interchangeably & is agender. Aylin & Nikki are girlfriends :) i don't have any screencaps of Aylin in LN bc cant log back into game but these four images detail Aylin's various appearances within the story. originally, Aylin was born as a stylist within a alternative Miraland that would face an early destruction at the hands of the Deity of Abyss. this version of Abyss manifested from the future & was seeking out a young Aylin, a Light Elf from the Pigeon Kingdom, to kill them before Aylin could awaken into becoming the Deity of Styling & Beauty. however, Abyss would find it's plans foiled by Leonid who sends Aylin to the Miraland of Love Nikki fame--- but not before Abyss strikes out at Aylin & taints her soul leading to them becoming something close to a demon.

waking up in the North Kingdom with hardly any memories of their former life, Aylin decides to head toward Lilith just in time to witness a play by the December Troupe.... while i won't go into the thick of the LN story to play by play Aylin's involvement, for the majority of the story Aylin acts as a antagonist. because Aylin is uneffected by the blood curse, she finds themself in the hands of working for Nidhogg who convinces Aylin to attack others or commit acts of violence so that he can avoid getting his hands dirty thus preventing him from weakening as per the effects of the blood curse. however while Aylin is able to avoid the blood curse, she can not avoid the effects of Abyss. with each dark thought or action, abyss eats at their soul & body more & more eventually turning Aylin into a demon.

during these events whenever Nikki crosses Aylin's path, she tries to reach out to Aylin sensing something is wrong & that ' they seem sad, as if something is making them that way. ' because of this Aylin seems to lash out towards Nikki quite harshly--- both because of abyss' influence on their mind, but also as a small cry for help as Nikki's styling power has proven to have a healing effect on Aylin pushing back Abyss from her body. outside of the main story there would be an event here shortly after the battle of dawn that revolves around Aylin appearing while Nikki & her friends are recovering from the end of the first chapter leading into the second. Aylin, suffering under the influence of Abyss finds their styling power out of control & has been attacking people left & right while also crying out for help. Nikki & her friends find themselves in ruins at a unidentifiable location within North Kingdom only to find the origins of Aylin's arrival in Miraland & surmise that, like Nikki, Aylin was sent to Miraland for a purpose but something happened along the way. Abyss would then flood the area & Aylin, almost now completely possessed would appear with a nearly full demon-like appearance.

Nikki would confront Abyss & fight to free Aylin of it's influence, using her styling power to fully purify the Deity from the elf's soul & body--- failing to do so as Nikki is not fully healed or recovered from the recent story events. but as Nikki falls she refuses to give up & deep within Aylin the small part of their soul that abyss has yet to corrupt reaches out for salvation awakens & bursts through sending beams of light & styling power out from her person of which restore Nikki who once again uses her own styling power to fully purify Aylin of Abyss. the event ends with Aylin free of Abyss & briefly recovering their memories, turning to Nikki with a bright smile before starting to fade away with a promise of meeting her again very soon.

while it appears that Aylin may have died, they simply returned to the ocean of memories & fainted outside the gate of heart. she would later awaken to see Nikki crying over them, with a worried Aeon & Marina nearby. confused, Aylin merely laughs which snaps Nikki out of her sorrows & instantly moves to hug Aylin tightly happy to see they had survived & now the two of them could start over & become true friends.

Aylin would be absent from the rest of the story for Love Nikki, returning for the events of Shining Nikki at the start.... finding out that something is wrong with their body & despite being purified from Abyss, it seems that the cost was her physical form with only Nikki able to see Aylin as they travel the Miraland of the past. just like Nikki, a lot of Aylin's memories are missing as well. during this time the two would grow their friendship & become close confidants, completely inseparable truly believing in each other & being each other's encouragement despite all that would face them. after the battle against the Goddess of Desire, Aylin is given a physical form & with it they realize how much more powerful their styling power has become of late. after a celebration in her honor, Aylin approaches Nikki revealing the mirror that manifested with them setting off the events of chapter two within the SN main story leading to the reveal that Aylin is the future Deity of Styling & Beauty in the battle against the Deity of Abyss.

now, as Infinity Niki is an alternative timeline to the mobile games the role Aylin plays is a bit different. Nikki, Momo, & Aylin find themselves rummaging around the attic looking for an outfit for Nikki to wear to a upcoming ball--- only to stumble upon a beautiful gown that instantly wraps itself around Nikki & teleports the three to a mysterious world known as Miraland. besides Nikki, Aylin & Momo find themselves in matching outfits & the three set off toward a temple to find Ena the Curator. Ena breaks her chains with the aid of the two stylists & uses magical thread to sew a cocoon around Nikki who reaches out to Aylin before being sealed away wearing the Threads of Reunion. Ena then swears this is for her protection & bestows the Heart of Infinity upon Aylin before explaining that ' perhaps the two of you will succeed in saving this world, where she & i failed. '

Aylin & Momo wake up outside within the ruins with Ena's parting words that in exchange for this power, something must be taken in kind. finding that they are missing their memories of everything before Nikki was taken the two make a pact to find the miracle outfits & save Nikki embarking on an adventure within Miraland.

Ena calls Aylin ' her equal. ' which is a reference to the fact that Aylin is the God of Styling. the heart of infinity allows Aylin to utilize her powers of styling & creation within this version of miraland. similarly, Leonid tends to also say some cryptic ass shit around Aylin as he knows who Aylin will become ie the god of styling.

Lilith has a crush on Aylin, Aylin has a lil crush on Glow which makes Nikki jealous at times

before Aylin was purified & still totally a villain, Aylin for some unexplained totally not gay reason always lashed out at Kimi or would attack Kimi. very healthy things to do to ur totally not future girl-- uh roommate, which is be violently jealous about her then gir--- uh best friend :)

Aylin's favorite color is purple & tends to style clothes in extravagant styles that have an air of godlyness to them. Aylin has no idea why nor sees it when Nikki points it out anyways small spam of Aylin's styling is below

thinky thoughts on the rtd era:

when nine regenerated into ten, it was like he regenerated using rose as an imprint but he only got a rough imprint of humanity, the image of it - youthful, enthuastic. but it's just a facade because underneath is the cold, aloof, dark, mysterious alien - still. the image doesn't convince rose at first but through a act of heroism and bravery, ends up being so convincing rose doesn't see a problem with it...until she forgets that despite the youthful nature of the face, they are much, much older and thus have had a long life outside of her, before her and will after her. until the parts of her that are supposed to stand out like compassion and kindess blur in with the alien and instead turn into insensitivity, detatchment and inconsideration.

and rose now wants something that isn't real. the doctor isn't going to settle down with her. he never does. she would never say it but it's what she wanted. when she says the doctor isn't going to slow down so neither will she there is something so desperately sad in the statement. but either way after rose's departure, ten is the equivalent of the chick leaving the nest for the first time. or more like a chick who was pushed out of the nest.

enter donna and martha. and regarding the racnoss, it's like donna encountered the child in the middle of a huge meltdown. his safety blanket is gone. he needs to learn and grow. so enter martha.

like a long-suffering carer who gets little thanks she helps to scrub off the rough edges, teach him things, take care of him, protect him from danger, goes above and beyond. but as all care givers who are taken for granted or give care to someone who doesn't really want it despite knowing they need it, they are taken for granted. and they have to start looking after themselves because it's draining them.

then enter donna, who reaps the benefits of the advice she gave him. though i doubt when she said he needed to find someone to stop him, she meant to find a companion and use them like a stress ball, to put it nicely. he's not perfect but no one is, but this time, it's his turn to help grow someone into their best self. but donna's story is slightly different.

donna gets into a lot of situations with the doctor that are, well, terrifying for her. she does good in pompeii, because she does help save people. but when she sees the ood she's devastated and when it's revealed they were slowly poisoning someone to turn them into one of them donna doesn't know who's in the right anymore. with the sontarans, she's scared out of her mind and with jenny she is the one teaching the doctor to be more open minded ...but by the time the daleks move earth, donna is the only one out of her depth and plaintively terrified.

but then the solution is clear. to survive this she needs to be more doctor like...literally.

all of 10's companions are all doctor-fied to varying degrees. rose's doctorfication makes her cold and unsympathetic, and jackie comments she's starting to be less like herself and more like the doctor. rose thinks this is great. jackie is clearly doesn't. martha jones' doctorfication is major both metaphorially and literally, with her being a medical student and taking the reigns for most of their travels. donna noble is the companion who gets the doctorfication to the highest degree. she literally becomes him and it kills her.

but im racking my noodle as to what the takeaway is. because it appears that donna's self plus the doctor is exactly what they needed to sort the situation...but it's like an almost monstrous/frankenstein take on the balance between what the doctor needs in a companion and why the companion needs the doctor. it's not lost on me that the doctor and donna become hybrids in the episodes where they confront biologically engineered mutants revived from the literal chest cavity of their deranged creator.

so. what gives? and the moment, i don't really have an answer. it's all a bit bleak.
