today, I peel an orange for myself. I thought about you while peeling it. I wish I could share it was you. it was too much for me to finish on my own.

i don't think I was made for anything great. like maybe i was born to be second place so someone else could be first. always good, but never great. always potential, but never fulfilled. (always an angel, never a god.) i'm not meant for anything but living for someone else. i think i was made to sit on the curb in front of my house and peel back an orange just to give you the bigger half. but to someone, this will be the greatest act of kindness, and that is what I live for.

eating an orange/mandarin alone, with no one to offer a slice to, must be the loneliest feeling in the world

the light in my room is honey-soaked gold
cold wind beckons outside
all of yesterday's anxieties and grief
gone in an instant
if i could peel this sunrise
and share it with you
it would taste like sweet oranges
-i dont even like oranges

ORANGE
I'll peel an orange for the both of us,
Split it into, like you do my heart.
I'll but on a brave face as the citrus floods the air,
Hoping that you appreciate how I peel it delicately.
If you leave,
I'll paint the walls with orange,
To remind me of the times we spent together,
Sitting in the orange sun,
With the tangerine hues dancing on our skin,
Peeling an orange for the both of us.
If you stay,
I'll bring you half an orange every day,
I'll deliver it with my citrus hands,
Having already consumed the other half,
Like you consume the half of me you are.
If you wait,
I'll go out and buy all the crates of oranges in the world,
Just so we can split them.
I'm not even sure if I like oranges,
Or if I just like how your face lights up when I peel them so neatly, so precisely.
Just for you.
- OM

I'm not saying I love you or anything but every time I peel an orange or a clementine I imagine I'm going to share it with you so I make sure to peel off the white bits for you because I know that's how you like them

there should be more poetry describing the timeless beauty of sharing food and love through convoluted, intimate orange metaphors that get really personal. just sayin.
