My first recital piece was this happy little "fast number" by Handel.

I was a baritone like Bryn Terfel here. Haruo is a tenor...and I was always jealous of tenors because they got the "good stuff" other than "The Trumpet Shall Sound" which was the pièce de résistance of bass/baritone pieces in the oratorio/opera repertoire

Definito da tutti "colonna portante" dell'oratorio e "assiduo collaboratore tuttofare", ha incarnato lo spirito del servizio disinteressato. Intere generazioni di ragazzi e ragazze solbiatesi hanno potuto fare affidamento sulla sua figura: un uomo descritto come onesto, preciso, capace e, soprattutto, incredibilmente umile.

Rescataron a niños que habían sido secuestrados por una secta judía ultraortodoxa en Guatemala

🇬🇹 En Guatemala, las autoridades recuperaron el lunes 23 de diciembre de 2024 a un grupo de niños y adolescentes que habían sido sustraídos de un albergue por miembros de la secta judía ultraortodoxa Lev Tahor. Estos menores se encontraban en custodia judicial desde el viernes 20 de diciembre, tras ser rescatados durante un allanamiento en la finca de la secta en el municipio de Oratorio, ubicado a unos 60 km al sureste de Ciudad de Guatemala. La operación fue parte de una investigación por presuntos abuso sexual infantil, embarazos forzosos y violencia doméstica en la comunidad de Lev Tahor, que se instaló en Guatemala en 2013. La secta, conocida por su estricta visión del judaísmo, ha sido acusada de matrimonios forzados y otras prácticas abusivas. Durante el rescate, los niños fueron llevados a un Centro de Educación Especial y luego a un juzgado, donde se promovieron medidas de protección a su favor. Lev Tahor, formada en los años 80, ha sido objeto de varios allanamientos, incluidos intentos fallidos en agosto y octubre de 2024, cuando los líderes del grupo impidieron el contacto con los menores. These minors had been in judicial custody since Friday, December 20, after being rescued during a raid at the sect’s estate in the municipality of Oratorio, located about 60 km southeast of Guatemala City. The operation was part of an investigation into alleged child sexual abuse, forced pregnancies, and domestic violence within the Lev Tahor community, which settled in Guatemala in 2013. The sect, known for its strict interpretation of Judaism, has been accused of forced marriages and other abusive practices. During the rescue, the children were taken to a Special Education Center and later to a court, where protective measures were enacted on their behalf. Lev Tahor, founded in the 1980s, has been subjected to several raids, including failed attempts in August and October 2024, when sect leaders prevented contact with the minors.
