A little weird as they do not change this one otherwise -- another one of the theme with Betty's dad relating to the 1950s (though I would have to look again to see if it necessarily his own) against Betty's experienced contemporary "vcr air conditioned 90s" (commas and hyphens or not), what with fax machines and what not. The story is seemingly kept in 1990, no fumbling for updated technology, yet out goes this one reference to the current decade. The one thing you can say is that maybe in 1990 Archie Comics was a little too in for pronouncing "It's the 90s!!"

Darktown must be cold as fuck tbh, Anders is wearing so many layers. That Sea Green cropped jacket with the feathers is one. The plaid overcoat under it. Then that grey... smock? Dress? Shirt? And some pants plus those boots.

Even if it's not and he's sweating to death in the muggy sewers it's a small price to pay and that just proves his dedication to the craft (fashion)! ✨ Our boy is a real trendsetter and everyone is SO jealous of his flimsy ponytail and 47 layers of clothing, that's why 95% of apostates in DAI look like clones of him, I think. yeah...bc this season and in fact the whole first book isn't really about him. it's louis' (and the show's case, claudia's) perception and experience of lestat. i saw someone complain that show does a great job of demonstrating what it's like to be loved by lestat but not a good job of showing what it's like to be lestat and i don't understand how that's even a valid criticism. louis can only know what lestat's told him and he then relays that to daniel (and by extention us the audience). while this interview is the 'more nuanced portrait' it's still louis describing his personal interpretation of a man he met and knew almost a century ago; there's holes and inconsistencies that the writers are aware of and purposely put there. lestat is not a forthcoming person, he keeps his past very close to his chest and does not share unless forced (see: him telling louis about the nature of his turning after almost 20 years together). when we get to season 3 and the vampire lestat then we'll get to dive into lestat's psychology just like we were able to dive into louis' this season but as of right now, it's not his turn to speak yet it's louis and claudia's
