Some of it was how he wrote Antonio out but also killing Al. Losing both characters drastically changed the feel and balance of the show. I also think Eid was upset Jon came back to PD after Justice didn't work and so the choices he made in regard to how he wrote him out were personal.

As for the Burzek of it all, it is way more than Eid not putting them back together. If you watch season 4, it was clear Burzek was on their way to getting back together. And then Eid shows up and the very first episode he is in charge, he has Kim dating someone else. At the end of S5, Paddy went to him and asked for Burzek to be a thing again and what does Eid do - season 6 which was an attempt to kill Burzek for good while pushing Upstead. He could have used anyone else to date Hailey but no, he picks Adam. And it was after Paddy specifically asked him for Burzek. Eid said numerous times in interviews that Burzek was done and over. Upsteads didn't' mind S6 because the storyline was used to push their ship together but Burzek didn't get anything out of it except a very OOC Adam and Kim. He did everything possible to not make Adam the father of Kim's baby…including trying to bring Roman back. He did figure out how to get him back for the episode after Burzek lost their baby which was a dick move to the fans. He spent seasons 7-9 teasing Burzek and giving the fans hope only to wreck them at the end of an episode. He "broke" them up several times but never actually put them together first and constantly made sure the audience knew they weren't together. And then Paddy and Marina give what was probably the performance of their careers in 8x16 and it is used to get Upstead married while Burzek just got more trauma. The fact that Adam and Kim (and even Kevin) had nothing to do with the fallout from the Roy storyline is mind boggling. There were so many good storylines that could have come from all of it for all the characters and he didn't use a single one. It seemed clear that his goal was to get upstead married before he left. You could also tell Paddy and Marina were upset about their characters being ignored - it was disrespectful to them, the characters, and the fans.

Add in what he did to Al and Antonio, starting this awful centric format, removing the humor and family feel of the show (and making it really dark), and making Trudy almost nonexistent, there are a lot of reasons he is not liked by fans (and not just Burzeks). It would have been one thing if he was trying to build them back but he clearly used them for emotional storylines with no intention of ever making them a couple again. He constantly did 3 steps forward and 5 back with Burzek. So yeah...it feels like he had a vendetta against Burzek and Adam/Paddy specifically. And yes, Burzek had moments but that was because of Paddy and Marina, not Eid.

I also think some of the choices he made with Hailey's character are why she gets the hate she does...it all could have been prevented too if he had just taken a different approach to how he brought her in. But his ego got in the way. He came in acting like it was a brand new show and didn't care that there was an already established audience. He even told Paddy that the fans didn't matter (I don't think shows should cater to fans but saying they don't matter isn't right either).

Ok, I'm going to have to go point by point but if I'm being honest... a lot of this feels like it's about Kim and Adam not being together.

I've talked about the Antonio stuff. It wasn't good. I don't agree that is was vindictive and I know there was talk of trying to get him back for the beginning of season 7 and it didn't work, so it is what it is. I might be in the minority, but I understand the decision to kill Al from a storytelling perspective. I wish it had had a more lasting effect on Voight's character, but I do understand choices they made in that exit.

As for Burzek... I think we have very different definitions of what "on their way to getting back together" looked like in season 4. In seasons 1-3, they cheated together on Adam's (2nd or 3rd?) fiancée, got engaged before either were near ready, imploded, and then Adam spent a big chunk of season 4 away from Intelligence because he couldn't handle being in the unit at the same time as Kim. Sure, Paddy was filming a movie and Marina was going on maternity leave, but that's what they were working with at the time. They cared about each other, but Eid inherited a bit of a mess with them. Paddy could ask for anything he wanted, and no showrunner or writer is obligated to give it to him if it didn't make sense. Putting them back together without any development at that time would have made no sense.

You typed a lot about seasons 6-8 and again, it all feels like it boils down to Kim and Adam not being together. I personally think the term "OOC" is used too liberally. It's thrown around by all fandoms as a blanket deflection from a character's behavior we may not like, when it's really well within the scope of their character. They're flawed. I'm not saying you have to like the way Eid told the story but that goes back to my original point. There is little critique in there that doesn't come back to the idea that he didn't put the ship together.

There is a pattern that I've noticed in the Burzek fandom that fans believe Kim and Adam are "stronger than the showrunner" and somehow defeated Eid, and it's not how things work at all. No character has any story without the showrunner. The reason Kim was pregnant with Adam's baby is because Eid made that decision, even if other options were explored in the writing process. They found Makayla together because of Eid. They were still circling each other for years because he kept them in each other's orbits. He took them from where they were in season 5 to working towards co-parenting, all while giving them some of their best episodes along the way. If he wanted to end them for good, he could have. Easily. It's not fair or accurate to say that all the good moments were because of Paddy and Marina while the bad were Eid and the writers when that's simply not how writing a TV show works.

First, Tracy also gave an incredible performance. I'm not going to minimize that just because her ship ended up getting married. In fact, they all did. Jason, too. Jesse and LaRoyce had a lesser presence, but they were so solid. To act like Burzek were the only ones to come out of that situation with trauma is erasing the whole other half of the storyline, which is what you are complaining they did to Kim. And I agree, Kim's role in the Roy situation should have been addressed sooner. Eid should have done it in 9A, Gwen should have done it in 9B instead of the Makayla kidnapping fallout. Kim and Adam's story was a mess in season 9, and that's at the hands of both showrunners.

I mentioned this in an ask the other day, but I don't think Eid was one who was interested in romance between canon couples at all- be it Burzek or Upstead. Was it vindictive towards Upstead when he put them together and immediately gave them nothing but angst? Probably not. Just like I don't think he was vindictive in giving Burzek angst, too. Again, there seems to be this notion that Kim and Adam were the only ones who went through shit. They all got it. It was his style, which is one of my biggest complaints against him, honestly.

Centrics aren't even my biggest gripe against him, because I saw up close how much productions had to scramble to put together Covid seasons. The centrics got bad in season 8, but I have a lot of grace for the hoops they had to jump through to get anything on screen during the pandemic. I'm more annoyed with why they're still happening now.

All that said, I don't think a viewer who has seen the whole show can objectively look at the quality of cases, involvement from each character, long-form story arcs that are actually cohesive, the development of the characters, and the dialogue and say we were worse off under Eid's leadership.

Okay, I've typed enough. I don't expect that you'll agree with everything here. It's totally fine if you don't agree with any of it, I'm just offering my perspective. I'm not saying someone has to love the way Eid ran the show but generally speaking (it's not every fan, I understand that) Burzek fans tend to villainize Eid while praising Gwen for "fixing the show". Meanwhile, she does everything they claim Eid did (centrics, dark tone, no continuity, baseless writing), only worse. That's why, to someone on the outside, it does seem like the core issue with Eid is that he didn't put the ship together.

The way you all try to diminish the friendship Paddy has with Marina and LaRoyce is interesting. Why would he leave because Tracy and Jesse left? Are the friends sure but let’s not downplay how close he is with Marina and LaRoyce. He always talks about his close friendship specifically with Marina and LaRoyce. He also sold his place in LA specifically saying because he works in Chicago. Also his gf is from the area and it’s close to his family. Just say you all want paddy to leave because you are upset how upstead played out.

I haven't kept up to date with the bts of the crossover what's the evidence that the two characters trapped is Stella and Adam?

I've seen people on twitter say it's Kelly and Kim

i think we started saying stella and adam were trapped when they were filming the crossover. there was no bts of miranda or paddy whereas we already saw multiple bts of everyone else. taylor and marina were spotted in some bts together including videos that marina posted herself.

one of the only bts i can recall of miranda and paddy was in the wolf entertainment new years video message. and it kind of looked like they were filming in the same place based on the background and miranda had blood on her bunker coat.

somebody who watched filming said that they saw kim being taken out on a stretcher which is why some people think she’s is trapped. but marina posted so much bts that im having a hard time believing she’s the one trapped. i think kim gets hurt above ground but she’s not significantly injured.

the synopsis is why people are now sure that it’s stella and adam trapped. but the wording of the synopsis is also weird which is why others think it’s actually kelly and kim trapped. i was going back and forth on who i thought was trapped but now i really do believe it stella and adam that are trapped.

Which includes their Japanese names and as many names in the localizations as I am able to obtain from the wiki and my own sources. I'll probably reliably have the English (both versions where applicable), Japanese, and French names for every character when I do the bracket rounds. The list below however is entirely in English.

Regarding episode two, if you've seen it already. ;) The burzek of it all? Not enough? Too much (wha?? no way!!)? Exactly right? I have to say it was just right for me. It fit the atmosphere of the episode and sort of made my fanfick-y juices going... hmmm. I am very, VERY much looking forward to Kim being back on the show though. Adam needs her so much right now.

Sorry again for the late response: I actually did read this ask on thursday morning, right after watching the episode, but I had gotten like zero hours sleep basically and so needed to rewatch when my mind was a bit more alert which I did get more alert but only just remembered to rewatch! (Just in time lmao). So sorry about that - I really am enjoying these asks, I promise !!

ANYWAY. Yes. I have to agree - it was exactly the right amount of Burzek. The episode taking place essentially within the first few hours of Emily getting shot and the direct aftermath really set the tone for exactly where Adam's mindset was (and DAMN did Paddy play it excellently!) and so I found the little bits of burzek we got fit right in with the all round feel of the episode.

My biggest worry going into the episode was that it wouldn't just be set in those initital hours, and therefore the lack of Kim would feel glaringly obvious. The episode being set out this way immediately put those worries to rest.

But as I said, I did want SOME acknowledgement of Kim/Burzek and having Kim call (repeatedly! my girl knows not to give up, but also not call too much!) served as a reminder of how solid their relationship is, how Kim is there for Adam. And it also served to show a good insight into Adam's mind - he didn't have time for the comfort or decompressing about the day with his safety person, he had to keep in that go, go, go mode.

As I said, in these moments, Adam likes to just buckle down and address the immediate aftermath and doesn't like taking in the luxury of comfort because as soon as he does, he breaks down. And he wasn't even in the right mindset for anything - he just went through something traumatic and it was having an effect on his mental state, as what was beautifully demonstrated throughout the episode.

Although, his photo for her being of Kim and Mack made my heart grow like triple the size I swear, that was so fucking cute. AND the soon to be wife comment, ugh my burzek loving heart. You said it perfectly; it got the fanfic juices flowing, I swear.

Overall, I'd say it was exactly what I wanted from the episode. Even dealing with how traumatic it was for Adam with him spacing out and also being single focused (while also asking so many questions to Kiana, because it's Important for Adam to know the partner he's riding with, especially on the heels of Emily's death). I also really loved how she was introduced. But the little bits of Burzek just made it perfect - that Marina not being in the episode didn't mean that they had to cut out an important part of Adam's life - because it really wouldn't have been right without a burzek nod.

But yes, I totally agree. I am more than ready to have Kim back, and I'm SO SO looking forward to seeing her again. I've missed her, and Adam definitely needs her. So much. (A thought that also makes the fanfic juices flowing).

why do you think have the whole cast (Tracy,LaRoyce,Paddy,Marina) never supporting Jesse or his episodes and give a shit to him?

Im sorry but how the heck did Tracy wind up in this list. Tracy is Jesse’s #1 supporter. She has posted for many of his episodes throughout the years. She posted multiple times for his exit and his directing debut. So unless you’re just someone who never uses social media, then I’m assuming you just hate Tracy and anything she does.

As for the others, I wont say much. Marina has posted a couple of times showing support for Jesse throughout the years. Laroyce usually only posts stuff about the show when it’s a finale/premiere or big Kevin episode. And Paddy rarely posts about the show.

I can lighten up the mood… what was your favorite Jesse/Tracy/cast BTS video prior to Upstead getting together & your favorite after the characters got together?

Oh, man. I might have less exposure to a lot of the BTS stuff, but I've probably seen enough.

Before the characters got together, there is a video of Paddy and Jesse (I think?) singing super high-pitched while Tracy and Jon (I think?) film. It has the energy of one of those fraturdays where you're shooting until 2am and you lost your mind four hours ago. PD also used to do fun interview segments like the lie detector, newlywed game, quarantine unscripted thing, etc.

After they got together... whew it feels like a lot of BTS stuff slowed down because of the covid precautions and all that. I like the ladies interview with Tracy, Marina, and Amy. I also liked the Wolf-produced video of how they shot 9x13.

Did I miss anything really obvious?

paddy has changed and not in good way. before he used to smile all the time around people, around marina and fans but not anymore. now he hardly smiles in pics with marina and fans. last night he barely took any pics and in few pics and 1 video of him he was sulking and looking miserable. no smile, no laugh, no sign of him having fun. its obvious his friendship with marina isnt same anymore. things look awkward between them. they used to be best friends. not anymore. now they are just coworkers. they stop being best friends because of tracy. because he prefers and loves tracy more now. have you noticed he doesnt smile and laugh around anyone anymore except tracy? even around his own family he barely smiles and looks miserable. hes always hanging around and clinging to tracy on set. even though they barely have scenes together. if tracy was at event last night we would have definitely seen paddy looking very happy! when paddy was active on instagram he liked and double commented under all of tracy’s post! he commented “miss you” and heart eyes emojis under her posts. he didnt comment miss you under laroyce, marina, ben, jesse’s post. why? did he not miss them too? especially jesse who is no longer on show and he did not see as often as he saw tracy. he work with tracy and saw her almost everyday on set and still she is only cast member he comment miss you for after only few weeks into hiatus 🤣 then they met up in italy and he said the night he spent her and her mother was best. he probably begged her to come meet him. btw he has not commented on any of marina’s post since 2021. you can say maybe he didnt see her posts. yeah but somehow he saw all of tracy’s 🤣 which means he either stalk tracy or he has notifications for her instagram posts and stories on 🤣 he is completely obsessed with tracy. maybe even in love with her. he shamelessly flirt with her in her instagram comment section even though he is dating reem and tracy is dating jesse who also happen to be paddy’s friend or should i say “friend”. maybe thats why he didnt say anything when jesse left. he was happy he didnt have to see jesse and tracy make out anymore. i think only reason paddy is on show still is because of tracy. when tracy leaves he will leave too. he said many times you cant get rid of tracy. he never say that about the other cast members 🙄 i wont be surprised if upzek get back together. paddy will beg gwen to put them back together just so he can make out and have sex scenes with tracy. it was shameful, disgusting and disrespectful for paddy to publicly flirt with his so called friend’s gf especially when he has a gf too. it doesnt matter if he is in love with tracy and that there is no love between him and reem and they are only using each other. reem is only dating him for exposure and he is only dating her because she is much younger and that gives him ego boost and makes himself feel young. he is having hard time accepting he is aging and going through midlife crisis. thats why he got nose piercings at this age 🙄 and why he got botox and fillers done. he used to have thin lips now his lips are fat. thats not possible without fillers. too bad the botox didnt help. of all the men in one chicago he has aged the worst. in chicago pd laroyce has got better looking with age while jason and jesse has not aged at all. but paddy look completely different and not in good way. he has gained too much weight in body, face, lips. it may be side effect from botox and fillers or maybe too much drugs and alcohol. maybe the side effects from botox and fillers make it difficult for him to smile and thats why he is is always looking miserable 🤣 in your pic with him from 2018 he was hugging you and smiling but the most recent pic you took with him he was struggling to smile. a fan who met him during s10 said paddy was not nice. that fan also met laroyce and marina that same day and said they were very nice. seriously what is paddy’s problem? why has he become such miserable asshole? i hate this new paddy. i want him d3ad or i want old paddy back!
