4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year? tbh I don't usually pay attention to authors or when I discover them. Probably Gillian McAllister? I read one of her books this year, Wrong Place Wrong Time, and I absolutely LOVED it. I haven't read more iirc, but I had a fun time and am interested in reading more stuff from her!

22. What's the longest book you read? This is kind of a cheating answer? But I did read it consecutively, The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, at 815 pages total. If that doesn't count since it was a collection of all the hitchhiker books, then The Good Daughter by Karen Slaughter, which was 656 pages.

i need stancy to get back together so bad because a) theyre elite and b) so they can go on dates but when nancy picks up steve at his house hes like “can robin come too 🥺🥺🥺🥺 i promised i would drop her off at band practice in an hour” and nancy is like fine whatever. and they sit together in the backseat while nancy drives them to the restaurant for her date and then she pays for all 3 of them because steve forgot his wallet and robin is poor and both of them got fired from family video 3 weeks ago due to aiding and abetting a suspected murder cultist

don’t love: jealousy/love triangles/the bitchy and obtrusive ex, childhood friends to lovers is like FINE and can be good but i rarely like fics where creating that dynamic is the focus of an au, mutual pining can also be good (like REALLY good) if done right but sometimes it just really makes the characters look stupid and drives me nuts

Welcome to season 2! I'm partway through episode 18 now and I had to take a break because chapter 8 nearly killed me. I found myself in tears multiple times in the span of that thirty minutes. Anyway I would like to point out two things. First, in the scene you mentioned on page 114 of the Raven Boys, Gansey barely reacts at all. It merely says the sound of the box hitting the concrete startled them both, and then Gansey moves on to being in his feelings. What this tells me is (1)

Is it bad that I kinda want to do the thumbs-up emoji and leave it at that? I’m not sure I have much to add!

Chapter 8 nearly killed us, too, but it probably wasn’t the worst of them or the last of them. At least we can revisit the pain together! You are correct with both statements: in the scene with Gansey in TRB the box being pushed off the bench is almost glossed over, but it definitely sets the stage for Adam’s actions in his apartment with Blue, i.e. because of that detail the audience has been set up to understand that this is a thing Adam is capable of.

The second point (in brief): There is a lot to be said for Cabeswater’s frustration about not being able to communicate with Adam feeding his own frustration. Cabeswater is, in its own way, lashing out trying to make itself heard, which is also the case with Adam. However, Adam also has likely only SEEN and EXPERIENCED “anger” as a way to express frustration… he textually has not had a ton of good healthy expression of emotion modeled for him.

By the time BLLB starts, Adam is consciously telling himself, “Don’t fight with Blue, don’t fight with Gansey”. He’s coaching himself through redirecting his frustration and pointing it at what he can “fix”… himself, and Cabeswater.

I think I’ll have to leave further response for future episodes–there is a fine line sometimes between “Are we talking about this too much?” and “Have we talked about this enough?” Thankfully, we hopefully have many more future opportunities to discuss this topic! Thank you so much, @paintedpolarbear, we’re always thrilled when we can spark a new idea/interpretation or invoke emotional resonance with some detail or theory we’ve dropped into an episode!

Oh physically for sure, Bats is a wrecking ball of biotic destruction. He just handles his issues and emotions very badly- jokes are armour, we’re all having fun, are you having fun? Shots are on me.

His mother’s diadem, and if he’s honest his entire collection of shitty animated vids about a Justicar, and the assorted holo posters and statues that come with it. Bats no.

i've been nonstop listening to the adventure zone for the last couple of weeks and i am simultaneously Blown Away by the incredible world building and the character development and the really really heart touching storyline that's unfolding and also dumbfounded by the sheer chaotic mcelroy energy that permeates their entire brand

1. Has your five ever broken a bone Yes! Ren’s def broken a leg bone at some point as a yougin, and they break a few ribs + their wrist in Season 3 as well. If I remember correctly they also get their nose broken? The poor little thing gets a bit battered. 6. what’s a non-important item your five always looks for on runs They always look for pads of paper -- journals, individual reams, sketchbooks, what have you. That, along with any art supplies or stuffed toys -- for the kids in the township and their friends. Blake ( @runner-bi‘s Runner) especially they try to find art things for. They also try to keep an eye out for games consoles for Fivey ( @puptart‘s runner)

Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Not reeeeaaaally for trc, but if I’m being honest I’m less fond of ad/ansey than I had once been. I’ve also gotten a little more bored with the main canon pairings but that doesn’t count bc I still love them and I just generally get bored with big pairings the longer I’m in the fandom (I like.. purposely unfollowed nonmutuals that mainly posted p/ynch precisely because I love them and didn’t want the fandom to ruin it for me)

Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

i LOVE that  this ask meme assumes that there are only two types of media: manga and shows. i suppose in the grand scheme of things, trc is simply a manga with no pictures

anyway my unpopular opinion is that it was good? like lmao i feel like half the fandom hates it and we’re allowed our own feelings on things and i GET the criticisms but at the end of the day trc changed my life dude, i love it

HMMM i would have kept the ending the same tbh but i think i would make it more explicit what had happened? also maybe give more info on exactly how the glendower thing played out 500 years ago bc i still see so many different interpretations of it
