Hi, just thinking about how Camilla Hect and Palamedes Sextus are in unambiguous romantic love with each other. 🥰🥰🥰 They kiss with tongue in the library and all the books watch and clap.

“"Palamedes, yes" she said. "My whole life, yes. Yes, forever, yes. Life is too short and love is too long."
He demanded: "Tell me how to do it, and I'll do it."
Camilla said, "Go loud"”
THEY SAID THE LINE I AM SO UNWELL FUCK

“This is all there is to love? Simply by being in your life, I have added indelibly to its weight?”
“This again? From you and her both? That merely by loving you, I added to your torments?”
(Encouragingly) “Yes, and also my agonies.”
“Camilla, we did it right, didn’t we?” Palamedes said, and now Nona knew he wasn’t speaking to anyone else in the universe.
“My whole life, yes. Yes, forever, yes. Life is too short and love is too long.”
“Tell me how to do it, and I’ll do it.”
“Go loud.”
“It’s finished, it’s done. You can’t take loved away.”
“I’ll keep loving you—my problem is I don’t know how to stop.”
“and hey, what’s like except a love that hasn’t been invited indoors?”
“I cannot conceive of a universe without you in it.”
I still love y

oh my god it's about love. It's all about love and the infinite different forms that love takes. nona is asked do you love and she says yes-no-yes i don't know what it means, i say it and i don't know what it means, did i ever know what it means? but she loves so much and so hard, she falls in love with everyone she meets but she doesn't know what love means!!! gideon does not care if harrowhark is in hell but she needs to know, she needs to KNOW, she has died for her and she is willing to die again to save harrowhark's body (take it from anywhere, take it all). Camilla, we did it, didn't we? we have had something nearly perfect. the perfect friendship, the perfect love. Palamedes yes, my whole life, yes. yes, forever, yes. life is too short and love is too long!!!!!! we are the love that is perfected by death!!! pyrrha "i'll keep loving you, my problem is I don't know how to stop" dve!!!!

"my whole life"
“I gave her my whole life,” said Gideon, and unsheathed her blade.
Chapter 2, Gideon the Ninth
“If I became a Lyctor,” she said meditatively, “and renewed my House—and made it great again, and greater than it ever was, and justified its existence in the eyes of God the Emperor—if I made my whole life a monument to those who died to ensure that I would live and live powerfully…” Gideon waited. “Of course I wouldn’t be worth it,” Harrow said scornfully.
Chapter 31, Gideon the Ninth
Harrowhark, I gave you my whole life and you didn’t even want it.
Chapter 44, Harrow the Ninth
But my whole life and death had come crashing down around me… I was nothing but a chess move in a thousand-year game.
Chapter 52, Harrow the Ninth
“Palamedes, yes,” she said. “My whole life, yes. Yes forever, yes. Life is too short and love is too long.”
Chapter 28, Nona the Ninth

If you’re still doing the ship rating- Camilla/Palamedes because I’m sorry but fusing into one being in a Catholic inspired text is just not a platonic thing to do and “yes, my whole life, yes; always and forever, yes” is not a platonic thing to say before said fusing
I MEAN... I have no idea what "platonic" or "shippy" means in the context of Camilla and Palamedes, because they are the apex of codependency. In a series that's all about codependent relationships, they raise the bar to new unparalleled heights. They are obsessed with each other. Quite literally two halves of a whole (Paul. Just Paul)
I'm struggling a bit to articulate this but, basically: I get why other people may not read them as romantic or sexual, but ultimately I think it doesn't even matter because they're so much MORE than that. They are such a disaster gordian knot of fucked up and devotion and overwhelming feels that reducing it to whether or not they're fucking seems ??? kinda pointless to me??? because they're each other's whole world. They lived in each other's pockets for years and they shared a body for months. They are each other's whole universe and decided to fuse their souls forever rather than letting one of them live on while the other died. They have SO MUCH going on; what does "platonic" even mean in this context?
tl;dr: I personally do read them as shippy. But also that's not even in my top 3 most noteworthy things about Camilla and Pal, because every facet of their relationship is so rich. I don't even see it as a question of "shippy", I just see it as "it's impossible to disentangle them from one another." They're just. THE MOST complete package. Absolutely completely life partners. Deeply fucked up and they wouldn't have it any other way
(On that note, when I see posts about how the Sixth House have therapy, I think... they absolutely do not. Just because Camilla knows how to do breathing exercises it doesn't mean they are in any way well-adjusted. When Pyrrha Dvue tells you to dial it back, you know you have an issue!
Anyway. Nobody is well-adjusted in this series. Love that for them)

Camilla said, She turned you down. [...] I said to Camilla, Yes; and it was the best and kindest, most honourable thing Marta could have done for me. She didn't have to tell me in so many words what we both knew, that the relationship between cavalier and necromancer could so easily curdle into codependency ... a loss of self on both sides. An obsessive fusion of halves, not two complementary forces. [...] Camilla said, Captain Deuteros, why are you telling me this? I said, I wanted to let you know how lucky I was. She and I could have made that mistake together. It was such a near miss. I wouldn't hold it against anyone else, except that I would want them to know that such a thing is never determined, never inevitable, like all the things I told myself that night. If it had happened it would have been wrong and it would have hurt both of us. Camilla said, I can't comment.
— As Yet Unsent
"I am not saying this was our inevitable end ... I am saying we have found the best and truest and kindest thing we can do in this moment. Tell me no, and we'll go on as we have been ... and we'll go on unafraid ... but say yes, and we will make this end, and this beginning, together." Camilla shivered all over. Then she was at rest; she relaxed her head—the lines of her neck drooped like a flower—she raised it again. "Palamedes, yes," she said. "My whole life, yes. Yes, forever, yes. Life is too short and love is too long." He demanded: "Tell me how to do it, and I'll do it." Camilla said, "Go loud."

WIP of my Palamedes cosplay! Took this exert from Nona the Ninth chapter 28. This scene straight up gave me a stomach ace from all the emotions I felt. I was sad I lost my favorite characters, but also I didn’t lose them?? But they where doing something they desired to do, but now there is . . . Paul. Ok? 🙃 I thought I would memorialize the moment on the front lapel of Pals cloak. ☺️🪡
“-Tell me no, and we will go on as we have been, we’ll go on unafraid. But say yes, and we will make this end and this beginning together.”
“Palamedes, yes. My whole life yes, yes, forever yes. Life is too short and love is too long.”
“Tell me how to do it and I will do it.”
“Go loud.”

Camilla closed her eyes and relaxed. Her long dark fringe fell over her face. It was that—Camilla in motion now Camilla at rest—that made the tiny voice inside Gideon’s head say, amazed: We really are going to die.
--Gideon the Ninth, Act 4, Chapter 36
Camilla shivered all over. Then she was at rest; she relaxed her head—the lines of her neck drooped like a flower—she raised it again.
“Palamedes, yes,” she said. “My whole life, yes. Yes, forever, yes. Life is too short and love is too long.”
--Nona the Ninth, Act 4, Chapter 28
Bonus:
“Gideon the Ninth, first flower of my House,” she said hoarsely, “you are the greatest cavalier we have ever produced. You are our triumph. The best of all of us. It has been my privilege to be your necromancer.”
--Gideon the Ninth, Act 4, Chapter 36
