anyway in the past week the irish government has voted down two motions which would have condemned the genocide in gaza.

i need everyone to stop lionising ireland as if its not also a european government with strong ties to the us. american weapons pass through shannon airport and will continue to, because yesterday the motion to stop that was voted down 83 to 50.

other governments have done much more but somehow people still act as though ireland is the ultimate palestinian ally and exempt from criticism on its handling of palestine bc it was once colonised, even though that past experience clearly isnt being taken into account by the irish government when creating policy.

i live here i know there’s a lot of public support and sympathy for palestine, which is great, but that isnt reflected in government, and i think ireland should be treated like other countries whose governments have done nothing.

some people must realize the existence of the country of israel will not protect jewish people, it will not help with antisemitism, its not ""black and white thinking"" to think the country of israel is unnecessary, and nothing more than a fascist dream unfortunately. The kingdom of Israel was something that existed in ancient history, as far as i'm aware it exists now to colonize Palestine, to excuse genocide, and the country of israel has done nothing but push actual antisemitism often for their own needs. Why is it that once a white and a probably non Muslim country, takes over a land, colonizes it and kills its citizens, that country is considered righteous and honored? But once the citizens of that land (who in this context are arguably mainly poc citizens) try to fight for that land back, it's considered terroristic and harmful ?

Everyone fights for the colonizers, and will defend them with their whole being but never pays attention to the thousands and possibly millions of deaths they caused to innocent people. Don't try to justify it and say it's morally wrong when in fact it happened to poc people so many times before and you just turn a blind eye. You just pick and choose who you defend at this point because once they aren't a Muslim or a poc country, news will spread everywhere about their attack like its a fucking wildfire. I want to advocate for violence so so so bad. This whole fucked ass situation and all I can tell you is that nothing will work as well. Eyes on the situation are all well and good but they will kill us without mercy. Peaceful opposition will get us killed. We NEED to fight, but we can't do it directly unless we're organized with numbers, we can do it indirectly alone as long as we're smart.
