So, at work this little girls' soccer team has been bagging people's groceries in groups of two. They're at max 7yo but they look younger. And most of them have at least one parent standing back by customer service just keeping an eye on them. The parents are obviously just gossiping and talking between themselves for entertained. But there was one dad who was with his daughter because it was an uneven number of girls. He's chatting with customers and the cashier and treating his daughter like a princess. And at the end of their time bagging, he just carries her and talks so softly. Like the love was pouring from him, it was so wholesome.
Now make it Steddie...
Imagine girl dad Eddie who'd rather help bag groceries than gossip with the group of moms. So, he chats with everyone else because the cashier looks exhausted, and he thinks he can give the other man a small break from all the conversations. But to his surprise the cashier doesn't take the break. He chats with Eddie and his daughter easily between customers.
And Eddie's little girl is having a blast which is a blessing. Because he can see some of the girls looking bored and he's extremely happy she's not throwing a hissy fit like Carol's youngest. No, his girl is asking all the customers random questions that aren't too invasive. Until she asks the cashier, Steve, if he's seeing someone cause he's really pretty. The customer laughs as Steve goes soft for Eddie's little girl. And he handles her like someone made to be a dad.
When their time is up for their little fundraiser, Eddie picks up his girl who curls into him, playing with his hair. Steve's shoulders slump and Eddie can't help but smile at the man. "I'm not, just so you know," Steve says and it's another small break from his customers.
Eddie raises an eyebrow, "not what?"
Steve's ears are a little pink, "seeing anyone."
It throws Eddie for a loop and he glances at his girl before looking at Steve again, "me neither."
Steve perks up so quickly Eddie has to smother a laugh. "do you want to? See someone, I mean."
Eddie's mouth ticks up into a smirk. But he doesn't get a moment to speak, "Daddy, aren't you seeing Steve right now? He's right in front of you!" His daughter looks charmingly worried for him so Eddie makes a show of gasping and twirling around.
"oh no! I'm blind! Mel I'm blind what do I do!" He almost shouts as his daughter starts to freak out. "Oh cashier Steve where'd you go?" He stops his spin to lock eyes with Steve and he winks.
Steve's laughter makes his eyes crinkle and Eddie thinks he's adorable. "Oh! There he is," he says and his daughter sighs like it's the most revealing thing he could've said. "Say Steve, would you perhaps wanna see each other again soon?"
Steve nods and glances at the woman now placing food on the belt. Eddie moves over and writes down his number quickly before bowing out with a grin.

Steve has long hair, and he's finally able to pull his hair into a ponytail at the top of his head. It causes Eddie to freeze and study Steve’s features in alarm. His features are both feminine and masculine, so very equally so. It's something that Eddie definitely likes. Okay, so he likes both, or maybe he just likes it in Steve. He tilted his head to the side and thought about Steve as a woman. It didn't really matter, though, because regardless of what gender Steve is (and Eddie's starting to think Steve might be a gender all by himself), he loved Steve and his personality. At the same time, though, he's envious of Steve’s genders and the fact that he seems to have one to himself. There were times that Eddie felt a little feminine himself, but he never said that outloud. He kind of hated Steve, too, because he seemed so comfortable with that side of himself with absolutely no problem. Eddie was definitely a guy, though, right? Yes, yes, a guy! Sometimes, he just felt like a girl and sometimes nothing at all. And really, it's all Steve’s fucking fault. Suddenly, Eddie yelped and jumped out of his chair.
"Eddie, man, are you okay?" Steve asked.
"SO MANY CRISISES AND ALL AT ONCE!" Eddie screeched and headed towards the door.
"Eddie!"
He popped his head back in, breathing calmly.
"I'm going through something right now. I'll get back to you in 30 to 40 business days," he said and left again.
Steve stared at the door, his mouth open. The door opened again and Eddie popped his head back in.
"FUCK YOU AND YOUR SEXY PONYTAIL!" Eddie yelled and left.
"I told you, man," Argyle said. "You got to be careful with ponytails. They hold power."
He flipped his own ponytail over his shoulder, Jonathan's eyes never leaving his hair.

Eddie: I do drink red wine. But I also drink white wine...And I've been known to sample the occasional rosé. And a couple summers back I tried a merlot, that used to be a chardonnay. Which got a bit complicated.
Steve: Yeah, so, you're just really open to all wines.
Eddie: I like the wine, and not the label

Just got this comment from some homophobe, do these people even watch the same show?
Tumblr media
Like, even if Eddie is somehow straight, his whole thing is being a weird outcast who would definitely accept an queer person in a heartbeat

Me personally seeing the interactions between Eddie & Chrissy, but also seeing the ones between Eddie & Steve, I believe that Edward Munson is a pansexual. No I will not be elaborating. No I will not be taking criticism. That it is all. Thank you for attending my TED talk.

Let's say for fun that Eddie Munson isn't just gay or just straight. If he's not one of them, I believe he'd be pansexual. Yes, bi exists, but I feel like it isn't Eddie. I can just imagine young Eddie not knowing that people don't just fall in love with everyone who's kind to them. He tells his dad how much he wants to marry the neighbor's son, and that's when he has a wake-up call.
He learns that everyone, in fact, does not, not care about what is in someone's pants. And when he moves in with Wayne, he tries to ignore that part of himself that likes boys.
But throughout school, Eddie learns he has a type. Pretty jocks who have hearts of gold. Chrissy Cunningham, who was head cheerleader and played volleyball. But she was soft and sweet. She was kind to Eddie, and Eddie fell for her.
The man he fell for, though, he was a harder read. At first, he couldn't stand him. The boy was always looking a million miles away, like he was better than everyone else. But then... then Eddie had seen him at the store, talking with Joyce Byers. He had been kind to her, and when he noticed the young Will Byers, he hadn't been prickly. No, Steve Harrington had oohed and ahhed over one of his drawings.
And well, Eddie knew that in school, Steve and his friends didn't deal with Jonathan. Jonathan was a year younger, and Steve hadn't given him a second glance. But he had been kind to these two like it was God-given right.
When Joyce had asked Steve about his parents, well, Steve hadn't gotten bitch, just awkward. He explained they had a big trip so Steve just took the bus. 15 years old and already being independent. After that, the distant looks, bored stares... well they didn't look so bored, so high and mighty. They just looked lonely.
Eddie had been instantly hooked on watching him. And when you watched, you saw the heart of gold leak through. So throughout school, Eddie nursed his two crushes, and when Chrissy asked him for drugs, he couldn't say no. Not even when he didn't want to see her mess up her life. He brought her back to the trailer and experienced one of the worst nights of his life. Just when he thought that maybe there was a chance he'd at least become friends with her.
He didn't think that watching her die would bring him Steve, though. And with his shitty week, he couldn't even tell himself to hold back. He flirted, got in his face, and called him pet names. Whatever he could think of, he did. He didn't think of any backlash when it felt like he'd be thrown in jail or killed by freaky supernatural shit.
Eddie fell even further, getting to watch Steve rip a bat apart. It was so fucking Ozzy. And then, as Eddie had laid in Dustin's arms, never expecting to get up again, Steve was there. Like a goddamm angel. He told the man as much.
Sure, he wouldn't remember when he woke up. But that was later Eddie's problem. Not that it was a problem. No, because when Eddie wakes up, Steve will be there, and he'll tell Eddie that it's okay to pick the hard choice. To love the option that would make it so much harder when the person you love is right next to you.
Yes, Eddie Munson might not have been gay or straight. He might have loved Chrissy or not. But he did fall for Steve and well... Steve, I imagine that Steve will find himself learning to love someone new in Eddie. That Nancy didn't have to be he only option. That he could be happy with Eddie.
That when Eddie was better and Vecna was dead, they could start a life together. One where the kids were still a big part of it, and Robin was their roommate. One where love wasn't easy, but it was worth it.

Rueleigh's Thoughts about Eddie being bisexual and/or pansexual again. It's under the cut. Ignore it if you want to, mostly me venting again.
I love the fact that Joseph Quinn just decided to have Eddie flirt with both Steve and Chrissy. He must have thought, "Ooh, what if Eddie was bisexual?" Now, I haven't seen any interviews where he says his character was flirting with Steve, but "big boy" is a dead give away, he's also said with Grace that Eddie and Chrissy would have hooked up. While his sexuality hasn't been stated in canon, it's more canon that he's bisexual. I think that's just a fact that people are just going to have to accept. Eddie Munson is so bisexual coded, and we need more bisexual men in media. I love how Heartstopper is actually open about that and has even corrected people on the show. And we spent 15 years with Supernatural, implying that Dean is bisexual but not actually saying it. It would be nice if they slipped that in next season, but considering they won't even get Robin to say lesbian, I doubt it will happen with Stranger Things. The other show that I watched that has a bisexual woman is Grey's Anatomy, who put her with a lesbian who made biphobic comments whenever they had an argument. I hated it. Even in this fandom, in this Steddie tag, on this site, we still have people who are so clearly biphobic. While it's not all people who headcanon Eddie as gay, it's quite a few who act like Eddie being bisexual is like choking down terrible food. Eddie being gay is a nice headcanon, but it's just a headcanon, and there's zero evidence that he's gay and more so that he's bi and/or pan. Eddie being gay is equally queer as him being bisexual and/or pansexual. Maybe I'm just frustrated by the lack of bisexuality in media and the rampant biphobia and panphobia that are on a site that's supposed to be so inclusive, but it's as exclusive as fuck. I just think there should be equal amounts of gay, bisexual, pansexual Eddie fics. Once in a blue moon, I'll see a bisexual Eddie fic, and I can't remember when I saw a pansexual Eddie fic. I would love to see more where he's also, bi and pan, which you can be at the same time. As I am bi and bi. I'm just curious why a lot of people don't like the idea of Eddie being into women.

“What’s your favorite color?”
“My what?”
“Your favorite color, sweetheart.” Eddie Munson fondly rolled his eyes before he lifted them to look at the side of Steve Harrington’s face. “We’ve all got one, so what’s yours?”
Steve Harrington is pretty. It’s easy to admit. He’s got the whole All-American vibe down. But there’s also a softness there that Eddie hadn’t expected, something he’s only become more aware of since he started to hang around the younger man more.
Steve shrugged, a loose roll of his shoulders, and then had the bottle of beer he’d been nursing all night pressed back to his bottom lip. He doesn’t take a sip though, just holds it there. Eddie knows that Steve can drink, had seen him push past all sorts of different keg records back in high school. Obliterated them, in fact. Only being beat out by (and may he rest in peace) Billy Hargrove. But he’s caught onto this more. Noticed that there are just some days where… Steve doesn’t.
Steve sat the bottle down without taking a sip.
“I don’t know if I have one.” Steve finally admitted after a beat, and Eddie can’t help but let out a hum at the admission. It’s enough to prompt Steve to continue, however. “I mean, I think all of them are pretty. Y’know? Kinda like people?”
“Ah, so you think everyone’s pretty?” It’s a tease that Eddie can’t help but make.
Ladies man Steve Harrington. Ladies man Steve Harrington who is always being hit on. Ladies man Steve Harrington who Eddie knows just went on a date at lunch time. Knows this because Steve didn’t have lunch with him.
“Sure, I mean… I think you’re pretty.” Steve said with a shrug, as if that sentence isn’t enough to send Eddie off kilter. As if he hasn’t just flipped Eddie’s world upside down and shaken it about. The bottle is back against Steve’s bottom lip.
“I think you’re pretty too, Harrington.” Eddie kept his own admission soft, as if he is scared to admit it in the dead of night. He is.
Steve grinned before he took a slow sip of beer.

Steve had never given sexuality much thought until he met Robin.
He didn't have many crushes growing up, in fact he could count the on one hand.
First there was Sara Flint, Steve was twelve and they were lab partners all year, three times a week he and Sara would joke around in class. On the last day he realised this was those butterflies his friends always talked about, but by then it was too late, all he got was a kiss on the cheek and that summer the Flints left town.
It was another four years before his next one, Nancy Wheeler. Four years never finding those butterflies again, Tommy cycled through girlfriends like a rolodex until he finally landed on Carol. Sure they had been girls who kissed him at parties but they felt hollow and boring. There was even that kiss he and Tommy shared last year to "check if they were gay just in case" but he felt nothing there either.
But Nancy, Nancy turned caterpillars into butterflies inside him. She was smart and beautiful and kind. They had met when he'd been told he was going to fail chemistry if he didn't pick up his grade. He'd gotten Nancy's number as a possible tutor for extra credit. Two weekdays and every weekend they'd either be at Steve's dining table or down at the library studying. Steve passed his test and butterflies grew inside him when Nancy hugged him in congratulations. This time Steve wasn't too late, but that Halloween made him wish he was.
Steve hoped it would be another four years before the butterflies returned but the following summer brought, Robin Buckley. Robin had been different, they hadn't gotten on at first, but after Steve told off a jock for touching her she allowed him to be closer. They weren't friends but they had jokes and banter. Then the Russians pulled Robin into Steve's orbit in a place he never wanted her to be, the butterflies grew but he would've taken the blows despite them. Sitting in that bathroom with Robin he allowed the butterflies to stay but recognised them more as moths drawn to the light that was a best friend.
Steve had never given sexuality much thought until he met Robin. He assumed he was straight, I mean he had to be right? Sure he didn't feel the same way about everything his old friends talked about but he had liked girls before and he'd never liked boys.
Robin taught him a lot of her limited knowledge of the subject, they were still small town teens after all. So yeah, of course he was straight.
Steve was straight until he wasn't, until he met Eddie. Eddie who pulled the attention of his kids and brought smiles to their faces. Eddie who was loud and bright even when faced with the horrors of another world. Eddie who kept smiling through pain and smiled at Steve in the hospital room. Eddie who took him on drives when nightmares couldn't be chased away. Eddie who remembered things about Steve and asked him questions about his day. Eddie who hugged Robin in understanding bring Steve's best friend an ally in a world he couldn't get. Eddie who would do anything for the ones he loved.
Steve who was straight and didn't understand why people seemed to go on dates with people they just met. Steve who was straight and had only ever liked girls. Steve who was straight and loved Robin more than anything.
Steve who was straight until he felt butterflies grow inside him for a fourth time.
Steve who was straight until he met Eddie.
Steve who was straight until he realised he would've loved Eddie whether he was a guy or not.
Steve who wasn't really straight and loved Eddie because he was Eddie, who knew that loving Eddie was as simple as breathing.
Steve who wasn't really straight because loving Eddie was inevitable, written in the stars, a love that had been waiting all along.
Steve who wasn't really straight but didn't need a label to know that he loved Eddie, and for him that was enough.
