Paraskevidekatriaphobia is such an interesting episode to me because, for some reason (although I do really really like it), it stresses me out on like Riddle of the Sphinx levels.
The closest reasoning I've come up with is that I just feel TOO bad for Gareth but that's not entirely conclusive.
Anyway happy Friday the 13th <33

The man on the radio is back once more ... for how long, who knows? Where has he been? Who knows? Does he even know he's been gone? Perhaps he has continued performing his show with the Lost Postman as his trusty aide in some alternate Universe and has no idea of our wonderings as to his waywardness. Weatherwise we have 12 to 15 degrees today, sunshine is MIA, thermal everything is required ... I've even put thermal covers on the deckchairs. The traffic lady may just have mentioned the cold start, the lack of attention paid by motorists and one or two collisions. The chef on the radio flung his virtual frying pans around with unknown ingredients in them.
Today's groaner: A woman texts her husband on a cold winter’s morning, “Windows frozen, won’t open.” Her husband texts back, “Slowly pour some lukewarm water over it and then gently tap the edges with a hammer.” 5 minutes later the woman texts back, “Computer really messed up now.” ;-D badoom tish … here all week!!
Friday the 13th and the spiders are coming in! I have no problem with spiders, regardless of size ... but, according to the man on the radio, others are not so welcoming. I'd call the size of this one a 'Delilah'. There was a 'Goliath' version in the bathroom, but I fear she may have ventured upstairs and become extremely short term friends with Loft Cat.
Not long after this one came in, she ended up floating in the dogs' water bowl. I retrieved her, watched her run up the long curtain by the back door and, in due course, she returned to her original position.
On only one occasion have I decided against a spider setting up camp. That particular one was larger than my hand. Impressive legs that moved finger like across the floor and she eventually came to rest on one of my boots. I picked up said boot and left it outside the front door. I often wonder if that was her full size or whether she grew bigger and bigger and eventually made off with a few of the neighbourhood cats. ;-)
Friday, Friday, Friday ... paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday 13th) is rife in Ireland so there will be many still abed that have no intention of coming out from beneath the duvet. Let's hope they fare better than New Yorker Daz Baxter. On Friday 13th in 1976, he decided to just stay in bed for the day, only to be killed when the floor of his apartment block collapsed under him. Highly likely they will as there's an awful lot of bungalows on the Emerald Isle ...

Friday the 13th: Superstitions, Horror, and Pop Culture
Explore the origins of Friday the 13th, its connection to superstitions and how it became synonymous with horror! #BluMoonFiction, #WhatsYourStory, #Fridaythe13th, #Superstitions, #HorrorMovies, #PhillyBookBlogger, #SpookySeason, #Horror, #JasonVoorhees
The origins of Friday the 13th being unlucky date back centuries, influenced by Christianity and numerology. The number 13 was seen as ominous due to Judas being the 13th guest at the Last Supper, and Fridays were linked to bad luck, including the crucifixion of Jesus. Together they formed the superstition. Wens and Enid + Fri the 13th =
Enid: Seriously? I totes thought it’d be like a holiday for you.
Wednesday: I must point out that it is purely a Western superstition. I also celebrate Martes Trece, Tuesday the Thirteenth, this superstition’s parallel in Spanish-speaking countries.
Enid: Tuesday?
Wednesday: Quite. And it’s not even a matter of triskaidekaphobia—
Enid: Triska-whatnow?
Wednesday: The fear of the number thirteen.
Enid: 😯
Wednesday: As I was saying, it’s not even specific to thirteen. In Italy, they are wary of Venerdí Diciassette. Friday the Seventeenth.
Enid: Whoa. That is kinda inconsistent.
Wednesday: Precisely. And besides, if you must fear something—
Xavier: *walks up* Hey Wednesday, do you have a mirror in your skirt? Because—
Wednesday: Friggatriskaidekaphobia.
Xavier: *goes pale* F-Fuck!
Enid: 🤨
Wednesday: Paraskevidekatriaphobia.
Xavier: Ah-AAAAH!! *flees*
Enid: 😧
Wednesday: *pleased* Fear something that is at least consistent.
Enid: The flip just happened?
Wednesday: Did you not know? Xavier has a debilitating fear of— excuse me.
Wednesday: *calls after Xavier* HIPPOPOTOMONSTROSESQUIPPEDALIOPHOBIA!!
Xavier: *distant shrieking intensifies*
Wednesday: Mm. A debilitating fear of—
Enid: Long words?
Wednesday: *hint of a smile* Exactly. That’s my smart girl.
Enid: 🥰
Wednesday: Now then, Uncle Fester should be arriving at any moment with a semi full of stray black cats. Remember to herd them in front of people. I’ll take care of the mirrors.
Enid: Okay babe, but like, for not being a fan Friday the Thirteenth, you sure do go all out for it.
Wednesday: *sniffs* One need not necessarily approve of a holiday to enjoy it.
The two pause as Xavier’s distant shrieking is abruptly cut off by the screech of brakes and the sound of metal impacting whiny artist.
Wednesday: What luck. That’s Uncle Fester now. Shall we?
Enid: Sure thing! And by the way, happy Friday the Thirteenth, babycakes.
Wednesday: *snorts* A miserable Friday the Thirteenth to you as well, mi corazón.
Enid slips on a pair of noise-cancelling headphones and links pinkies with Wednesday. Together they head for the accident parked semi, leaving a wake of shattered glass as a yowling black tide of cats floods the streets of Jericho.
Have a miserable Friday the 13th!
