Oh there is so much to love about this drama and so much to hate about it. It’s one of those dramas where I loved the first handful of episodes then thereafter everything went downhill. Oofing went downhill, but I still watched even though it was painful sometimes. Thankfully using the fast forward button became my friend through the scenes. The chemistry between both leading mains did help too. They had amazing chemistry together even though there really wasn’t much touchy feel’ie scenes between them. I think throughout the whole drama there’s like three small light kisses and yes I get the whole age difference to the story, 14 years, (not that bad of a gap) is supposed to take into consideration but the actors in real life don’t have much of a age gap soooooo. Nevertheless that’s not the main issue of this drama. I loved the fact that this did have a sense of feel of a older type of drama, kind of a classic feel, but that shouldn’t of excuse it of making so many cliches one after another. Don’t get me started on the whole amnesia storyline either. Not once but twice. 🤬🤬 I also wanted to throttle the main villain, who apparently by the way had some kind of power that made everything dumb around her. By the time she finally was ‘caught’ by her lies I was so done with everyone. Especially Lee Young Guk (Ji Hyun Woo) dude was beyond in need of a reality check by the end. I think the only character that was still worth redeemable by the end was the female lead and the kids. Everyone else was an absolute asshat. If you manage to be a fan of over dramatic, highly overdramatic dramas, then this would be great for you.a

I'm rewatching Marry My Husband while I wait for episode 5 and I had, what could be, a scary realization.

These two are obsessed with Kang Ji Won because they are in love with her.

These two are obsessed with Kang Ji Won because she is not in love with them.

Min Hwan and Sumin could make a pretty dangerous combination against Ji Won.

I hope this show maintains this level of interest for me. I'm loving it! I may need to watch all of Park Min-Young's work now.

The way Jihyuk's confession is tinged with such sweet sorrow... Let me explain.

I'm probably off base and just. Reading into the acting choices that Na Inwoo is making right now, but like. It's so sad. Like, he's saying it and you as the audience knows he means it, but there's this sense of "ah, but i know she won't actually say yes even if i bare my all to her". And he's doing just that. He's laying it down on the table for her to see that he's absolutely sincere about her and he is 100% sure and serious about her.

But what thrills me to no end about his confession is how he also lays out the boundaries for her without disrespecting himself. He tells her to take her time to think about it but not to reject him outright, and how he won't pressure her or push the issue, and in the next moment actively SHOWS her and articulates to her that he won't be jumping into the same taxi as she is and will be taking the next one.

Jihyuk continuously walks the talk when he tells her she can rely on him. He fulfils his promise to teach her martial arts and gives actionable advice. He is quick to notice (something Jiwon picks up on) that her proposal is getting hijacked and tacitly plays along. Of course, you could argue that him being from the future has already given him insight that the Manager in charge is gonna land himself in hot water, BUT STILL :D

Is it any wonder how he is the greenest green of flags? ;A; Also sidenote, the way Na Inwoo was acting out the confession scene reminded me a lot of this very beloved cinematic moment of mine

And to a slighter degree, it reminded me of the moment where Hua Cheng tells Xie Lian "... I am your most ardent devotee"

There's something so selfless about the way in which Ji Hyuk is in love with Jiwon. It feels closer to devotion and worship than the usual romantic love. For me, its all in the eyes. The way he looks at her. My God. I am longing for you. I am yearning for you. I know you. I want to know you more. I am drawn to you. I cannot stop. I am so sorry I let you slip away the first time. Never again. Nothing matters more to me than you. My nightmares are made of being separated from you but your happiness matters more to me than my fear. But. If you say I am your happiness. Then I am yours. Let me save you. Oh? You want to save yourself? Then, at least, let me be the solid land you stand on. I love you so much I am content just looking at you. Even if my eyes give me away. I am content just being around you. Everything I do and everything I am, yours.

I think that is the purest, almost unattainable form of love. Maybe that is why it took two lifetimes to get it right. To want someone so much that you would do something so counterintuitive and difficult so as to hold yourself back. She is his whole world. And yet, he was willing to let her go.

I am in love with you. It goes on and on and on and it never goes away.

Song Ha Yoon is such a good actor. She's breathing life into the character of Su Min.

Su Min is psychotic, we can all agree atp. Is she obsessed with Ji Won or just herself idk. She's a case study for professionals, that much I know.

I kinda felt bad for her when she was losing everything, her job, her friend and Min Hwan showing his true colours. But she still doesn't change. Does something more vile. God, Ji Won standing up for herself is so so satisfying.

And then Su Min just keeps on weaving her lies, just like that. She can't stop atp. And idk what's scarier, the fate of Ji Won and Ji Hyuk or her existing.

This drama does the villains so well. They are written like normal humans being evil, beyond redemption. And the actors are so good too.

So a separate shout out to Song Ha Yoon and Lee Yi Kyung. Park Min young and Na In woo are slaying their lead roles anyway.

SUMMARY: Did some mystery power give you a second chance at life? Of course you’re going to get revenge!

THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Cats high on nip, Busan stew, clandestine love affairs, murder, adultery, high heels, gourmet food, glow-ups, lake sleepovers, workplace fashion, cancer, candies, glass coffee tables, and mysterious tattoos.

HOT TAKE: I made the mistake of watching this AFTER it ended, which meant having most of the plot twists spoiled for me.

This show could have ended after ep 12, but for some reason it insisted on introducing a whole new 4 episode plot arc at the end. I suppose it did tie up some loose ends, but it also forced watchers to endure more of the main character's ex boyfriend being a bastard abuser to literally every woman he meets.

Song Ha Yoon deserves an award for her portrayal of one of the most mentally disturbed villains I've seen in a ROMANCE in a very long time. A+ performance.

Minhyuk and Sumin are really pissing me off.

I've read the manhwa Marry My Husband (both in Eng and Kor for funsies) but man...seeing the gaslighting acted out by real flesh and bone people is just on another level.

No wonder they deserve each other, they practically tag team in their "everyone else hates you except for me" narrative that they have been feeding Jiwon for years. It took her literally coming back to life to see them for the bloodsucking leeches they are.

Before Jiwon's transformation, it was sub-human treatment. After she changed and started sticking up for herself, talking back, and establishing boundaries, they get so shook that they double down on it instead of thinking "Hmm, maybe I should treat her like a human being".

"All I have is you."

"All men do is cheat - except for me"

"No one actually likes you - but I do"

No wonder pre-reincarnation Jiwon lived like she did if she had Bully 1 and Bully 2 manipulating her in stereo.

And the thing is? They know that they're lying. They know that Jiwon is a hard worker, that she's beautiful and deserves good things. But they also know that if she realizes it, they'll be the first to go, and they can't have that because how else are they supposed to feel good about themselves if they don't have a human punching bag at the ready?

Their self absorption works well in this Jiwon's favor though - I can't wait until next week when we finally kick off the second half of the series.
