Partial solar eclipse pictures
Oct 14, 2023 Orange County California
9:06 am (These aren't professional, but they're not half bad for handheld iPhone, no tripod.)
9:15 am
9:21 am (The sun came out of the clouds and blasted the phone's lens, so it looks brighter, but note dim lighting on lawn, possible crescents on sidewalk cast by natural pinholes between leaves, and curved light artifacts)
9:25 BINGO! Just the right amount of cloud cover to shield my phone's lens.
9:25 maximum (70%)
9:37 am
9:38 am
9:44 am
9:50 am
9:53 am
After which it became too bright for my phone. I hadn't intended to photograph it, but clearly I can't resist. I will have to come up with a better set up before the next one.
(I considered hopping a train to Albuquerque this weekend, but i've already booked a weeklong expedition for the April eclipse, and didn't want to be too extravagant)
