5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Indian Caterer for Your Small Party
Tumblr media
Planning a small party can be both exciting and daunting. Whether it’s a birthday celebration, anniversary gathering, or a cosy get-together with friends, the success of your party often hinges on one crucial element: the food.
Deciding on the right Indian caterer for your event can make all the difference, ensuring that your guests enjoy delicious flavours and memorable dining experiences. Here are 5 essential tips to help you choose the perfect Indian food catering in London for your small party.
5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Indian Caterer
Organising a small gathering brings excitement with a hint of stress, particularly when selecting the ideal Indian caterer. Therefore, we’ve brought you 5 important points to consider when choosing a caterer.
1. Budget
Consider how much you’re willing to allocate for food and beverage services. Our Indian catering in London offers a range of options to suit different budgets, from lavish spreads to more modest yet flavourful menus. By knowing your budget upfront, you can narrow down your choices and choose us to deliver exceptional quality within your price range.
2. Hygiene
When it comes to food preparation and service, hygiene is non-negotiable. Look for Indian catering services in London who prioritise cleanliness and adhere to stringent food safety standards. Inquire about their kitchen facilities, staff training, and hygiene practices to ensure that your guests are served food that’s not only delicious but also safe to consume. We, at Bharat Gangaram, have transparent policies regarding hygiene and sanitation, providing you with peace of mind as you plan your party.
3. Taste Test
One of the most enjoyable aspects of choosing an Indian caterer is the opportunity to sample their creations. Arrange a taste test with prospective caterers to experience their flavours firsthand. Pay attention to the quality of ingredients, presentation, and attention to detail. A good Indian caterer will be receptive to your feedback and willing to customise their menu to suit your preferences. Take this opportunity to discuss any dietary restrictions or special requests to ensure that every guest at your party is catered to with care and consideration.
4. Testimonials
Before making your final decision, take the time to research the reputation of potential Indian caterers. Read reviews and testimonials from past clients to gauge their satisfaction levels and overall experience. Look for caterers who have a track record of delivering exceptional service and exceeding expectations. Personal recommendations from friends, family, or colleagues can also be invaluable in guiding your decision. By choosing a caterer with a proven track record of excellence, you can trust that your party will be in capable hands from start to finish.
5. Menu
Last but certainly not least, consider the variety and flexibility of the catering menu offered by each Indian caterer. Whether you’re craving classic favourites like butter chicken and biryani or seeking innovative dishes that showcase regional flavours, ensure that the caterer can accommodate your culinary preferences. Discuss menu options, dietary requirements, and any special requests to curate a bespoke dining experience for your guests. Under The Summer Heat
Joseph Quinn x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Joe had agreed to keep your relationship under wraps for a while now. During your work company's summer BBQ, you couldn't help but feel alone because Joe was in London, while you were across the ocean. You felt alone until... you weren't.
Author's Note: This was based off of a dream I had last week, and I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I decided to write it down. I hope you all enjoy! :)
Wordcount: 5K
Tumblr media
It was a secret.
Supposed to be.
It had been.
Now, you weren’t sure anymore.
It only has been a few months since your relationship started and due to the fact that you weren’t really someone special, you both decided to keep this under wraps for now. Just you and him knew about it, and your sister, Camille, since she was there to witness the beginning of all of it. The three of you had been keeping this secret really well, and you were actually handling it well even if there were times where you just wanted to tell your best friends all about it.
It was too risky.
You told yourself, so you kept your mouth shut.
So, here you were. You found yourself standing in front of your mirror, fixing the belt of the mini flowy summer dress that you were wearing. It was a Friday, and your work company was holding the annual summer BBQ picnic at a lake park. You and your sister, who also worked together from the same company, were sort of dreading it because it was hot, and you two weren’t really sure if you really wanted to spend your Friday afternoon hanging out with your colleagues that you basically see everyday.
However, your team was already expecting the both of you to come, so you two decided to give in and maybe just stay for an hour. Carpooling together, Camille drove the both of you towards the lake park and saw the rest of the company employees arriving at the same time. Exiting out of the car, you were greeted by the California summer heat. It felt heavy, and you hated the feeling of it.
Music blasted around the park, and there were activities getting set up. The BBQ catering company that they rented were already grilling the burgers and hotdogs, while the rest of the volunteers were finishing up with the bouncy houses for the kids. It was a company party where you could bring a friend or family as a plus one. Of course, everyone had their children, husbands, boyfriends, or girlfriends with them.
You and your sister were just there. You both sort of felt left out. Not that everyone brought a plus one. But it seemed like everyone might as well, right?
“Let’s go find the team.” Camille murmured.
Nodding your head, you walked down the park and said hi to some colleagues that you passed by. They had big smiles on their faces and complimented you with how cute you looked in your dress. Just right by the empty tables, you found Maya and Adeline, who were part of your team.
“Where’s everyone?” You asked.
Maya shrugged her shoulders, adjusting her glasses and scanning the park to see if she could recognize anyone from your team. Sitting down next to them, you let out a sigh and watched everyone else talk amongst themselves. You didn’t know what it was, but you didn’t really know what to do. Awkward silence blanketed the four of you as you all sat and waited for the rest of your department to show up. You all always felt like an outcast from the rest of the company. You all had your own little group, and you all enjoyed each other’s company rather than when you all would talk to other members from a different department.
When the rest of your department finally showed up, you could feel the atmosphere suddenly shift. The rowdy chaotic team that you had suddenly were now all talkative and spitting jokes around with each other. You couldn’t help but smile and join the conversations until they had announced that lunch was ready.
“It’s the same food every year.” You heard one of your colleagues from another department complain.
You were in line getting the food and somehow, some employees in this company were already half drunk. The party literally just started and lunch was just being served. It was barely noon.
“Honestly, it’s good.” One of the women chimed in as she picked up a piece of hotdog.
“They can’t afford anything else but the same catering every year.” Another joked as they all laughed together.
Shaking your head, you ignored the little jokes they made and continued on through the line. You hated the negativity of others all the time, and it just really pissed you off sometimes when you heard conversations like that. It was almost like if they weren’t grateful, then why were they here? They could have just gone home instead.
“Hey! Stop it!” One of your team members, Eden, laughed at the end of the line.
You smiled as you watched your team teased each other. That was what made all of you different from the other departments. You all knew how to work as a team and wouldn’t speak so negatively even if things were difficult sometimes.
“That’s ten dollars for each piece of hotdog, Eden!” Maya teased him.
“And the hamburgers are twenty.” Adeline added.
You passed by and walked up behind them and said, “Yeah, and I’ll collect the money.”
“No, no.” Eden argued, shaking his head. “This is free! This is a company party, dammit!”
You all laughed together as Eden groaned when he dropped his hotdog from his plate.
“Ooo!” You all exclaimed in unison, teasing him even more.
“Eden, you’re wasting food!” Adeline accused him.
“Shush!” Eden shook his head as he picked up another hotdog.
You all laughed together as you walked back towards the tables, finding your seat back at the benches and joined the rest of your team. Everyone talked amongst themselves as you ate your food and listened to them. You didn’t know why you were sort of having a low energy at the moment, which wasn’t you at all. You usually were bubbly and happy. You couldn’t help but blame the California heat for making you feel heavy.
Other colleagues that you knew from other departments would pass by and say hello to all of you. Some would come by and give you a hug and compliment you with your dress. Some of the employees here in the company seemed nice, and you could tell who were the ones that were stuck up. For some reason, every time there was a party, you could always see everyone’s fake façades disappearing.
“Fuck! Fuck!” Camille cursed under her breath, sitting next to you. “She’s here.”
“Who?” You looked around the park.
“Sophia!” Your sister whisper-yelled.
“Oh.”
Sophia was your sister’s work crush, and they have been talking to each other lately. However, Camille has been feeling as if whatever it was between them wasn’t going anywhere. It was one of the reasons why she was dreading coming to the picnic because she was afraid Sophia would show up. She was certainly even more terrified that maybe today was going to be the day she would find out that maybe Sophia had a boyfriend all this time.
You furrowed your brows and scanned your eyes around the park, but you couldn’t seem to find her.
“Was she alone?” You asked.
“Yes.” Camille tilted her head. “Actually, I don’t know. I saw her walking alone.”
“Okay, then go!” You pushed her off the bench.
“No!” Camille argued, sitting back next to you. “Maybe her boyfriend is parking the car or something!”
“Oh, there you guys are!”
The both of you were interrupted by Bea. She was you and Camille’s work mom. Her husband, Ethan, used to be your department manager until he decided to retire. You both saw him as your work dad also. Next to the both of them was Marley. She was their daughter and also your “sister” since both her parents basically had become your “adopted” parents at this point. Marley also just started at the company.
“Hi!” You greeted Marley, getting up from your seat and pulling her into a hug.
You and Marley were about the same age. You both got along better because you both liked the same things more than her and Camille. You figured maybe because Camille was a couple years older than the both of you.
“You look cute! I love this dress!” Marley smiled.
“Well, you look cute too!” You grinned happily. “Did you guys just get here?”
“Yeah, I had to drag their asses because they were taking forever to get ready.” Marley rolled her eyes at her parents.
“We’re gonna go get food. We’ll be back.” Bea said.
You waved at them and then, you heard a familiar voice calling out Camille’s name and immediately, she hitched her breath and turned to see Sophia walking over to where you all were. You smirked at your sister before sitting back on your seat and letting them talk alone for a while. It didn’t take long for Marley and her parents to come back with a plate of their food and join the rest of you. Everyone started talking to each other again, and you couldn’t help but keep looking back at your sister, who was still talking to Sophia.
“Don’t you think that guy is cute?” Marley leaned in, whispering.
You followed where her eyes were looking and found a man with blond hair and blue eyes, talking to one of his colleagues from his department. You knew him, but you never really talked to him before. Usually, you would talk with Marley about men and dating but then, you realized that none of the people here knew about your current—secret— relationship. Marley didn’t know that you weren’t single anymore. So, you decided you had to play the part.
“Um… he’s okay.” You elongated the word ‘okay.’
“I think his name is Jake? I never really talk to him besides saying hello if we passed by each other.”
“Okay, but what about you?” Marley nudged you on your arm with her elbow. “Do you find anyone here cute?”
“No.” You shook your head, answering her question too quickly. “I mean… Not really. I’ve been working here for three years, and I never found any of the men attractive.”
“Really?” Marley’s eyes widened in shock.
“Hey, Marley.” Bea called.
Both of you turned your attention to Bea, who was pointing at the bouncy houses.
“You guys should go and play there.” Bea teased.
“Okay, but you have to join us, mom!” Marley replied.
“Oh no. I want to see all three of my daughters over there having fun.”
You laughed with Marley as Marley whispered, “The woman is fucking crazy, I swear to God.” as you laughed with her.
Walking around the park later that day, your eyes studied everyone drinking, talking and playing games on the grass. Some were sitting on the folding chairs or on the picnic blanket they all brought in. You couldn’t help but think about Joe and wished that he was here. Sure, you were having fun with your friends, but it felt like something was missing. You wished you were able to show and introduce him to your friends.
“Hi, sir.” You smiled when you saw the Director of your department, Keith.
He was standing by the bouncy houses, watching the kids play.
“Hello, how are you?” Keith smiled.
“Good. How are you, sir?”
“Oh, you know. Enjoying the fun.” He shrugged.
You all stood in a circle as Keith greeted Ethan and asked how he was. Ethan was one of Keith’s favorites when he used to work at the company, and they both had a good relationship. Then, two of your other friends, Brandon and Bree, from the other department had joined you and started talking to you.
“Hey, Brandon brought his infamous baked ziti.” Bree said.
“You cooked?” Your eyes widened.
“Yeah,” Brandon shrugged. “I just wanted to bring in some for the team, but I had some extras, so I was wondering if you all wanted some.”
“I’m good.” You shook your head. “I’m full from lunch, but thank you though.”
“Hey,” Bree nudged you on your arm. “Did you see the new trailer for A Quiet Place?”
You cleared your throat, giving her a smile as you nodded your head. Bree was a big fan of Stranger Things. She always talked about it at work and how much she loved Eddie Munson.
If only she knew.
You scratched the back of your head as you felt your cheeks flushed from the thought of Joe. You were trying so hard to act like you didn’t know anything. This was hard for you because you weren’t an actor for fuck’s sake!
That was Joe!
“Um… yea.” You nodded your head.
“Girl, I’m so freaking excited!”
You gave her a grin and nodded your head, agreeing with her. You were excited for Joe’s new movie, but you didn’t really know how to act. You didn’t know what reaction to put on, and you were failing terribly at it. Your cheeks were getting tired from fake smiling as Bree continued to talk to you and Brandon about the movie. You were also getting a headache, and you just wanted to get out of this conversation.
“Dad! Dad!”
Your conversation was interrupted when you heard Keith’s two daughters run towards him with their phones in their hands. An excited smile plastered on their faces, and they were practically bouncing on their feet.
“We just got a picture with Eddie Munson from Stranger Things!” His younger daughter exclaimed.
“Who?!” You snapped your head towards them, your eyes widened in shock.
The whole conversation in the circle suddenly went dead silent. You could already see the astounded look on Bree’s face from the corner of your eye. You could feel your heart beating out of your chest, and you could barely feel anything at the moment.
Did you hear that right?!
“I’m sorry.” You apologized to Keith for your sudden reaction. “But did you girls just say Eddie Munson?”
“Who’s Eddie?” Keith turned to look at his two daughters.
“Dad!” His older daughter rolled her eyes, “Remember the metal guy from the show Stranger Things? We made you watch that with us!”
“Oh.”
“Hi, darling.”
You were frozen. You couldn’t move.
You were scared to turn around. You were wondering if the heat was getting in your head because you did not just hear Joe’s voice coming from behind you. Although, from the way Bree’s expression was looking right now, you knew you weren’t hallucinating this whole thing.
You knew he was right behind you.
Slowly turning around, you saw Joe with a smile on his face. You still weren’t used to his buzzed cut hair, but he looked so good standing there in front of you with his collared shirt and black pants. You missed him so much, and you couldn’t believe he was here.
Wait, why was he here anyway?
Wasn’t he supposed to be in London filming right now?
“Ohmygod.” Bree muttered under her breath.
Feeling your cheeks flushed even more, as if the heat wasn’t already making you look all red, you set your palms on his chest as you looked over your shoulder. You saw everyone’s surprised reactions as they all just stared at the both of you.
What was happening right now?
“E… Excuse us.” You let out an awkward laugh as you slid one hand with Joe’s and pulled him away from the group.
Immediately, you heard whisperings and murmurs from your friends, and you could feel their eyes on you.
“What are you doing here?” You whispered, eyes big and wide. “I thought you’re in London filming?”
“I wanted to surprise you.” Joe shrugged, a big grin plastered on his face.
Surprise you?
But you both had agreed that this relationship was a secret, remember? Now, he was here in public with you. He was here in front of your friends with you.
Ohmygod. He was here in front of your boss with you.
“But… I thought you wanted this to be a secret?”
Joe saw the worry lines on your face as he cupped your face between his hands. His chocolate button eyes were staring right into yours, and you could practically feel everyone’s eyes burning on the back of your head.
“I talked to my team.” Joe continued. “I don’t want to hide you, love. I want to be with you. I want to join you at parties like this, and I want you to join me in my events.”
Biting your lower lip, you gave him a small smile. A jar of butterflies opened up in your stomach and invaded your veins. You could still feel everyone’s eyes on you but for some reason, Joe saying all of that to you, didn’t seem too concerning now. The worry faded, and you felt free and happy.
“Are you sure?” You asked, brows all knitted together.
“I don’t think I would fly all the way from London for the weekend if I wasn’t.” Joe laughed softly.
You chuckled softly at his point, leaning your forehead against his lips as he pressed a soft kiss on it. His hands found your waist as he pulled you close to him.
“You do realize that I will be introducing you to everyone, right?” You gazed up at him, an excited big grin plastered on his face.
“And I can’t wait to meet all of them.” Joe replied.
“Are they looking at us?” You whispered, afraid to turn around.
Joe’s eyes shifted towards your group of friends from behind you. They were still staring at the two of you, whispering to each other and nudging Camille to give them answers.
“Yea, they are.” Joe nodded his head.
Slowly looking over your shoulder, you saw all of them with their brows raised. They all looked like they were waiting for an explanation from you, which they all probably were. Camille was the only one who was standing there with a neutral expression on her face since she already knew about the secret. Looking back at Joe, you smiled at him and intertwined your fingers with his.
“Okay, c’mon.” You said and dragged him back to the group.
“Hi.” You smiled at everyone. “So, this is Joe.”
You chuckled softly as you introduced him to everyone in the group. Suddenly, you saw everyone’s faces lit up in happiness as Joe started interacting with everyone.
“I thought it was a secret?” Camille whispered to you as Joe talked to Keith.
“Not anymore.” You grinned at her.
Camille gave you a proud smile and said, “Okay, he gets points from me.”
“And what happened with Sophia?” You whispered back.
“Tell you later.” She gave you an excited smile.
You laughed softly, nodding your head at her before turning your attention back to everyone else. Keith was complimenting Joe about Stranger Things and how his two daughters forced him to watch it with them, but he did feel bad for Eddie. Your eyes shifted towards Marley, who had her eyes widened in surprise.
“What the fuck?” She mouthed at you, grinning widely.
“Later.” You mouthed back at her as she nodded her head.
“You should let him go eat.” Camille whispered at you.
Squeezing Joe’s hand, you cleared your throat and interrupted the conversation.
“Are you hungry?” You asked.
Joe turned towards you and said, “Sort of.”
“Okay, we’ll be back. We’ll let him eat lunch for a moment.”
“Okay, yeah. That’s a good idea.” Bea agreed, seeing how everyone started throwing questions at Joe.
Gazing up at Joe and smiling at him, Joe excused himself in front of everyone before the both of you walked away from the group. You could feel some of the eyes of the other employees on both of you as you walked across the park. You gave them a shy smile and tried your best to ignore it. Being in the spotlight definitely wasn’t something you intended this afternoon.
Grabbing a paper plate for Joe, you handed it to him and walked over to where the food was.
“I still can’t believe you’re here.” You said as soon as you two sat on one of the empty tables.
Joe grinned proudly and took a bite of his burger.
“When did you arrive?”
“Last night.” Joe turned to you. “I remembered the picture you sent me about the summer BBQ picnic that your work was having and the address was on it, so I thought I would surprise you.”
You chuckled softly, shaking your head. Joe turned his body towards you, his fingers softly brushing your hair away from your shoulder. You stared into his eyes, smiling as he leaned in and kissed you softly. You missed him so much. You didn’t expect your afternoon to turn out like this, but you weren’t complaining. You were happy, and you were glad that Joe was able to join this part of your life.
It was something you have been thinking of, and it was finally happening.
You were overjoyed.
“I’ve missed you.” Joe murmured, parting from the kiss.
“I’ve missed you too.” You grinned, giving him another chaste kiss.
Rubbing his back softly, you tried to enjoy the summer breeze that was blowing through your hair. The heat was still uncomfortable, and you were thankful for the breeze because it was making it bearable at least. Then, you saw beads of sweat started to cover Joe’s forehead as he continued to eat his lunch. The poor thing must be uncomfortable with the California heat also.
“I’ll be back.” You said, getting up from your seat and grabbed Joe a can of beer from the cooler and handed it to him.
“Hm… c’mere.” Joe murmured, pulling you on his lap.
He grazed his nose over your cheek, grinning happily before planting a soft kiss on it. He breathed you in for a moment and caressed your arm softly.
“Do you wanna go back with the others?” You asked, running your palm against his buzzed cut head.
“Sure.” Joe smiled, pressing a soft kiss on your lips before the both of you got up from the seat. Throwing his empty plate away, he grabbed the can of beer and drank it as he held your hand in his.
Walking back to the other side of the park, one of the leaders announced that the game of the annual kickball was about to begin and all volunteers should start gathering into the field. You squeezed Joe’s hand and a playful smile tugged on your lips.
“Do you want to play?” You teased Joe, nudging him on his side.
“No, I don’t think I brought the right shoes for that, love.” Joe chuckled.
Looking down at his feet, he saw that he was wearing his black boots. He was wearing boots in the middle of the summer with black pants!
This man was insane.
You couldn’t help but chuckle at it. It just made him look more adorable in your eyes.
“Come! Come!” Marley came running towards the both of you, grabbing you by the wrist.
“Wait, where are we going?” You pulled her back, your brows all furrowed.
“The kids are busy with the ice cream machine right now!” Marley said excitedly. “We have the bouncy house all to ourselves.”
“Marley, we’re like 28.” You laughed.
“I don’t care!” Marley dragged you away from Joe as he laughed softly at you.
Looking over your shoulder, you mouthed, “Help me” to Joe as he laughed, shaking his head at you. He was already pulling out his phone from his back pocket as he followed behind you and Marley. He joined the group again as you watched Ethan and Bea talk to Joe, and your department supervisor, Mario, had joined them.
“These girls are not blood related, but I know their souls are connected.” Bea told Joe, shaking her head as she watched you, Camille and Marley climbed onto the bouncy house.
“I can tell.” Joe replied. “She talks to me about Marley all the time. Told me she was her only girl friend here.”
“Yeah, well, don’t put them together for too long because they both are way too loud and chaotic.” Bea laughed softly.
Then, Joe turned to Bea, who was carefully studying him for a moment.
“I never saw her glow like this before.” Bea continued. “She’s always a happy and bubbly girl, but she was never this happy until I saw you with her today.”
Joe couldn’t help but smile and turned to where you were. Marley was laughing with you and Camille. She had found an inflatable ball and the three of you started throwing it back and forth. Ethan kept taking pictures of the three of you, chuckling and enjoying the show. Joe couldn’t help but do the same thing. Pulling out his phone, he started recording a video and took pictures, making him laugh at how silly the three of you were until Mario came up to him. You couldn’t help but turn your attention to them and wondered about the conversation they were having.
Mario, even if he was your supervisor, had a close relationship with you. He was the one you go to when you needed to cry or vent about work. He always had a soft heart, so he always had heart to heart conversations with you. Biting your lower lip, you kept wondering what they were talking about since it looked so serious and important.
“Marley!” You heard Camille’s voice.
You snapped out of your thoughts and turned to your sister, who was now laying on the grass. Her feet were still on the edge of the bouncy house. She was basically hanging out from it.
“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Marley laughed, jumping off the bouncy house.
“What happened?” You jumped out of the bouncy house as Joe and Ethan helped Camille up.
“My bad, buttercup.” Marley chuckled, a playful smile on her face. “I told you to catch it.”
You saw the inflatable ball that she was holding in her hands, and you figured she probably had thrown it at Camille, and she ended up getting knocked out by the big thing.
“Well, you’re gonna pay for it.” Your sister went over towards the bin full of water balloons.
Instantly, your eyes widened as you quickly put on your sandals and walked over behind Joe. There was no way you were about to get wet in front of everyone here.
“Oh no.” You whispered, shaking your head.
You watched as Camille threw the water balloon at Marley, making her squeal from the cold water that splashed her. You laughed as you watched the both of them throw water balloons at each other. You couldn’t help but record it on your phone, knowing Camille was going to love watching this later.
Then, you didn’t even realize Joe had disappeared next to you until you felt a stinging pain on your back and water splashing all over your dress. You gasped in surprise and turned to see a devious grin plastered on Joe’s face.
“Oh, okay.” You pursed your lips, walking over to the bin. “That’s what you wanna do?”
You grabbed a couple of water balloons and started throwing it at Joe as the four of you chased each other on the grass. Laughter echoed through the park. It almost felt like you all were children again, and you couldn’t help but enjoy this moment.
After a few minutes, Bea and Ethan had to stop the four of you because you all were literally soaking wet. Your makeup was melting off your face and so was Marley’s as Keith handed the four of you a towel to dry off.
“Not gonna lie, the water felt nice.” You chuckled at Joe.
He had wrapped the towel around your shoulders, rubbing both of your arms softly before using his towel to gently wipe off your face makeup that had melted.
“Okay, well, time for me to head home.” Camille announced.
“I’ll just ride with Joe.” You told her as she said her goodbyes to everyone.
“Do you wanna go too?” Joe pulled you in his arms.
“Yea, sort of.”
Joe nodded his head as you both walked over to your friends and said your goodbyes. All of them kept letting Joe know that they were happy to meet him even if it was unexpected. You waved at them one last time and told them you’ll see them on Monday before completely walking away with Joe towards the parking lot.
“Well, that was fun.” Joe grinned happily, his arm wrapping around your shoulders.
“I’m really happy you were able to join.” You smiled. “I saw you talking to Mario. You two seemed to be in a serious conversation.”
Stopping his tracks next to the car, Joe leaned you against the driver’s door and cupped your face between his hands.
“Yea, we were.” He stared into your eyes as he caressed your cheek softly with his thumb.
“What was it?” You asked, smiling.
“I love you.” Joe said, his voice full of emotion.
You stood there frozen as you stared at him. You were trying to figure out if you actually heard that right. Joe smiled, pulling you close to him when he realized you hadn't said anything for about a minute.
“Darling?” He smirked, brushing a strand of wet hair from your forehead. “Are you okay?”
“Y…You love me?”
Joe grinned, nodding his head and slowly said, “I love you.”
You knew you only started dating for a couple of months, but you saw all the emotion in his eyes. You knew he was genuine about it. You knew he meant every word he just told you.
“I love you too, Joe.” You smiled, curling your hand on the back of his neck and pulled him into a passionate kiss.
Smiling through the kiss, Joe kissed you deeper. His hands sliding on your waist and curling behind you. Under the summer heat, you felt overjoyed. Joe showed up for you, and he loved you and you loved him.
Under the summer heat, you didn’t care about anything else right now but this moment with him.
The End.

hello, i was wondering if you perhaps knew of any fics that involve crowley and anathema being friends? ive just always felt like they would get on well, they're both similarly odd and prone to ranting about the sizes of animals brains
thank you so much for all the work you all do btw!!
Hi! Here are some fics which feature a friendship between Crowley and Anathema...
You've Got a Funny Way of Making Friends by ellbie (T)
Anathema swirled her drink in her glass. “Then what?” “Er, then… I don’t know. I didn’t see him again until the Great Flood.” “Well, when did you start, y’know…” Anathema waggled her eyebrows. Crowley flustered. “Mind your own business, witch.” “Hey, you’re the one that agreed to talk to me about all this stuff. You can’t be mad that I’m asking questions.”
Friendship is Demonic Magic by Shadow0kana & whtbout2ndbrkfst (T)
After Crowley interrupts Aziraphale and Anathema’s phone conversations one too many times, Aziraphale suggests the two have their own meetups to discuss what they have in common. Cue monthly coffee dates between a witch and a demon who can passionately discuss (debate) anything from Halloween to Astronomy to Hamlet… while also conspiring to form a book swap aimed at getting Aziraphale to read anything written after 1950.
The Nice and Accurate wedding of Anathema Device, Witch, which went just as expected by Nenchen (G)
Wedding planner Anathema Device is the Number One. She can organize anything for a wedding, flower arrangements, catering, a marching band or an emu. The name Device is a guarantee for a picture perfect wedding - and the perfect pictures will be taken by her top wedding photographer, and best friend, Anthony J. Crowley.
Both of them see weddings mostly as business, until Anathema meets Newt, Love of her life, walking natural disaster extraordinaire, and very much not a person it’s possible to have a perfect wedding with.
Which is perfect since Anathema frankly never wanted one for herself. She just wants a fun party, good food, and all of her friends to attend - including Crowley. For whom this might just as well be the apocalypse because no, he is not allowed to work on her wedding. Strictly invited only as a guest, Crowley finds himself at a loss. What the hell do you do at weddings? Well, if you are Crowley, the answer is some James Bond-like action, some worrying about fly swarms and their sources, having a lot of emotions, drinking some very funny wine, putting your foot in your mouth and just maybe meeting someone to share all of that with. Oh, and there’s always cake, isn’t there?
Healing by AppleSeeds (M)
After Crowley sustains an injury, his friend Anathema persuades him to come with her to the spiritual centre she regularly attends so that he can receive some spiritual healing. Crowley doesn't expect the healer to be quite so attractive, and certainly not that he'll end up developing a crush on him. As their sessions together progress though, Crowley starts to wonder whether Aziraphale might actually have feelings for him too.
Thrown for a Loop by MickyRC (T)
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a man in possession of a large amount of yarn will be assumed to be a knitter.
It is a truth universally acknowledged among crocheters that this is annoying as hell.
In his many years crocheting, Aziraphale has never been one to let that assumption stand. But faced with an opportunity to join a knitting group run by a very sweet new shop owner, he decides to play along. Even if it means he has to pretend he wants to learn how to knit. Even if it means he has to hide his skill with a crochet hook.
It’ll be worth it to get to know Crowley better. Probably. Hopefully.
(It will.)
secondhand smoke by PaintedVanilla (T)
you're second hand smoke, second hand smoke i breathe you in, but, honey, i don't know what you're doing to me mon chéri
the year is 1990, and anthony crowley is looking for a church in london that might be tolerable. the one he winds up attending isn't exactly such, but he decides to stick around for one reason. said reason happens to own a bookshop that crowley begins to frequent, much to the surprise and delight of anathema device and newton pulsifer, who seem quite convinced that crowley could use something else to focus on besides gardening, their campaigns, and visits to tadfield.

Dizzying Thoughts
Tumblr media
In Osaka
“Unnie-yah, You ate right? I didn’t see you grab anything.” Juno sat down with her full plate in catering. The younger barely missed the leader's wince. Moxy’s face snapped back into a neutral position when Juno looked up.
“Yeah I had some food earlier.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Madrid
“Migyeong-ah, I didn’t see you eat today. You’ve had something right?” Soonjae asked her charge while Moxy adjusted her mic.
“I ate a granola bar Unnie. You know how my stomach is before a show. I promise to eat after.” Before Soonjae could respond, The stage director started rehearsal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Paris
“What did you order last night, Gyeongie?” Hannah luckily was lounging on one of the beds in Moxy’s room while the aforementioned leader was finishing up her skincare in the bathroom. It’s lucky cause Hannah missed the flash of panic that racked thru older’s body while she thought of an answer.
“Uhh…..I got a……burger?”
“Really?” Hannah sat up, “I got one too but Kenji-oppa never mentioned getting you one too.”
“He must have gotten mine earlier than you.” Moxy walked out the bathroom, praying her face didn’t betray her.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
The members of AG and their tour crew were crowded around two long tables with piles of food lining each one. The group was celebrating ending the European leg of AG’s tour with a final show in London tonight. While her members and staff sat around talking jovially and devouring the food laid out for them, Moxy sat hunched over. Moving the food around on her plate, illuding that she was eating. But Moxy had been doing quite the opposite for a while now.
See, our precious leader has an anxious stomach. Sometimes things get so severe that the sight of food nauseates her. Leading to the rapper going on stage with nothing for her body to feed off of for three hours of vigorous dancing and exhausting singing. Nervousness mostly affects her before big moments in her career. Her first stage of Limitless. The first time she sang You Don’t Know Me. Her first recording session for Something Like A Party. You get the point.
It was never something she couldn’t manage. Once her worries were disproven, she’d take the time to eat and everything would be right with the world. Noone would be none the wiser. The first time it got real bad was during 127’s tour, Neo City - The Origin. Moxy was so nervous. Anxious over how each crowd would receive her. Everytime the boys offered her food she shrugged it off, promising to eat later at the hotel. Then she’d there and a whole new batch of fearful thoughts crept into her brain, taking her appetite with them.
This went on for a weeks. Regretfully, all of 127 were just starting to get along. So the boys weren’t tuned into Moxy behavior until it was too late. After the group's show in Phoenix, Moxy collapsed as soon as she made it backstage. Nobody had a clue what was wrong so Soonjae made the decision to call an ambulance. She was diagnosed with low blood sugar and was forced to spend the night for observation. The managers knew they had to get to Houston. They all could tell getting them to leave would be like pulling teeth so they rebooked flights. Migyeong got the scolding of her life from Johnny when she came to. She proceeded to get smothered within an inch of her life between the arms of Doyoung and Taeyong.
127 had a serious talk about what Moxy had been going through after the next show. Jaehyun and Doyoung paired up on ways to help the rapper get past her nerves before they got on stage and it worked. As the tour went forward, with her members help, Moxy was able to stomach small meals and snacks before performing. Anytime another attack came, she knew her members would be right there to help even when Moxy had to fly back to Korea for AG’s debut.
Before AG left for their tour, Johnny talked to her about keeping up with meals.
“I’m seriously Migyeong-ah. I do not want to hear about you fainting while I’m here and you’re across the country.” Moxy grabbed Johnny’s hand. She felt the same concerns but she was better now.
“It won’t get to that point and if it does I’ll tell Hannah. You know she doesn’t play with any of our health.” Moxy continued to pack. She missed her oppa’s concerned gaze.
Now almost a month later and it was worse. Moxy was lucky to fly under Hannah's radar while the second oldest fretted over Aurora and her healing burn. As she looked around at the others happily shoveling food into their mouths, it nauseated her even further. Moxy pushed her plate away, ready to escape the stuffy restaurant into the sweet silence of her hotel room. But her actions caught the attention of her dongsaeng.
“Unnie have you even eaten anything? Your plate still looks full.” Juno stole a piece of the elders chicken. The leader had to fight off the look of disgust. Then the question registered in her brain. If Moxy was in an anime, that one sweat drop would be right next to her forehead.
“Oh! That's just because….. I grabbed more food than I can handle. Don’t wanna be too bloated before tomorrow.” She rubbed her stomach to sell the lie.
“Are you girls excited?” Soonjae interrupted, “The crowd last night was crazy. I swear they’re the loudest we’ve heard so far.”
Hannah snorted, “Yeah lets hope we don’t get another crying session courtesy of Aurora.” Aurora reached out to smack Hannah’s shoulder but the elder ducked out of the way. “YAH! I told you that was because my nanan was in the crowd.” Happy to have the attention off of her, Moxy slumped down in her chair.. The nauseous feeling dulling down. Maybe once she gets to the hotel, she’d be up to eating something.
Yeah, she could do that. Just make it to the hotel.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
That hotel meal didn’t happen. After dinner finished, Moxy had every intention of ordering something small but the girls were called to the venue to do some testing and last minute rehearsals. They didn’t finish until 3am. By that time, food was the furthest thing from the leader’s mind. She crashed as soon as her body hit the bed.
Breakfast and lunch didn’t cross Moxy’s mind either. Even after a flawless show yesterday, Moxy woke up worried. She didn’t want to underperform especially when their fans had paid money to see them at their best. The leader went through the motions all day. Time passing in a daze of anxiety. She blinked and the group were being ushered to their places. During the entire opening, Moxy fought off several bouts of blurriness. The rapper was lucky her spots were drilled into her brain. She could find a formation blindfolded.
Nobody questioned if something was wrong……at least until the dizzy spells started.
Come on….not now… Moxy thought as another wave of dizziness washed over her after the girl group cover section. The results of her mistake had been growing and growing all night. Honestly, the stories of adrenaline doing crazy things to the human body was a fact to her now. Moxy had no idea how she made it through this much of the concert with passing out.
She couldn’t wait until the show was over so she could finally eat.
In the middle of the cordi noona’s helping her change for the next stage, Moxy felt her legs give out for a moment before she caught herself. The noona’s around her shared a look but Moxy waved them off. “Just lost my balance.” reassuring everyone
Come on girl……two sets then you’re home free.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Everything was moving in slow motion. Every step felt like it took minutes. Moxy barley felt the hands ripping clothes off and replacing them with the ones she needed for the encore.
The noise around her turned into sludge. The rapper was incapable of distinguishing what anyone was saying around her. She didn’t even notice when her members surrounded her.
“Noona?”
“Moxy..can…..you…..hear……”
“Is…..-thing…..on.”
The world around her felt far away. Like she was floating into a dark abyss. The arena’s backstage a small box as she lifted off.
Moxy didn’t even register when she hit the ground.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Her eyes opened to the concerned eyes of Soonjae.
Moxy’s brain caught up before her body. The memories of the night coming like photos in her brain. Skipping meals. Feeling sluggish just as the concert started. The dark spots in her vision as she looked out at the thousands of fans. The dizziness giving way to exhaustion finally taking her out. Confusion, recognition then panic rattled through her. She sat up but another sudden wave of dizziness almost sent her back down. Soonjae tried to push her back but Moxy twisted away.
The director ran in, “I don’t know how much longer we can stall.”
Hannah’s eyes snapped over, anger blasing, “You better find time. Migyeong’s not awake yet but when she does there's no way she’s going on stage yet.”
“Actually look who's joined us.” At Soonjae’s voice, three faces snap to Moxy’s place on the couch. All wearing different expressions: one pissed, one of concern and another of relief. They crowded around the leader but instead of assuring them she was ok. Moxy went against Hannah’s words.
“Yes….I am.” Moxy was finally able to say after the dizziness faded. She tried getting up but Hannah pinned her with a dark look.
“Moxy you just passed out. No way are we performing the encore.” Hannah was ready to argue back but Moxy glared.
“Good thing you're not the leader.” Four pairs of arms reached out as Moxy stood up, wobbling a bit in place but quickly steadying herself, “I was only out for a couple minutes. We’re going out there and finishing this show.” Everyone tried to object but Moxy just held her hand up. “I’ll take it easy but we are going out there and that’s final.” Nobody said anything. Well nobody had the courage to.
Hannah, Juno and Aurora worried over the leader's condition but they all knew she wouldn’t change her mind. Slowly everyone resumed their tasks. Three women surrounded Moxy to fix her makeup and clothes. Practically erasing the past four minutes from reality.
The girls ran to reenter the stage while the music started up for Our Time Is Here. Several mangers followed behind the eldest, making sure she made it to the stage safely. Before Moxy walked out, Soonjae grabbed her hand.
“Answer me one thing? Have you been eating?” Moxy’s silence was answer enough. She couldn’t even look Soonjae in the eye.
If looks could kill, Moxy wouldn’t be walking into a stadium full of cheers from the crowd. She’d be in for an earful when they got back to the hotel.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Moxy stayed back to get checked by the doctor while her other members left for the hotel. Maybe I won’t get chewed out tonight Moxy though as the car pulled into the hotel's parking lot. The dread built as she walked through the lobby to the elevators. The leader dragged her body down the hall, feet sliding on the carpeted floor. She swayed on her feet, fumbling with the key to unlock her door.
She could feel the embrace of her bed close by but instead of a blissfully cold bed, there sat Hannah with a full bag of food and holding a phone, Moxy sighed knowing what she was in for.
“Oppa’s on the phone for you.” Hannah held the phone out for the leader to take.
“Taeyong-oppa?” She said, hopeful.
“No…..Johnny-oppa.”
“Shit…” Hope’s shattered, Moxy plopped down on the chair across from Hannah. The dancer focused on taking out the food while Moxy braced herself for a pissed off Johnny.
“Yeobeoseyo?”
“........Thea Marie Thompson.”
“Oppa before you start—”
“Don’t even try it, Thea.” Moxy’s mouth snapped shut. She could feel Johnny's anger through the phone.
“I can’t believe I’m talking to you about this. You promised me we would not repeat what happened during Regular promotions. You promised me you’d eat, Thea. But now not only am I getting calls from Soonjae but from Hannah about you passing out and still going back on stage.” Hearing Johnny’s retelling of what happened tonight made Moxy feel worse than she already did. Maybe things had gotten bad and she just didn’t want to acknowledge it.
“I did and it wasn’t going that far. At least I didn’t think it was. I…I was only skipping food before the show. I tried to eat after..…but things got hectic. And that's on me. My nerves have been getting to me and I felt like I couldn’t stomach anything. So I kept going because I had to” Both sides of the line were quiet. “I’m sorry for not calling for help.”
“Tell me why I shouldn’t fly out to make sure you’re eating before every show.”
“Hannah’s already got food sitting in front me.” Moxy looked out at the impressive spread Hannah was able to put together between the ending of the show and the car ride to the hotel.
“You should have told Hannah beforehand.”
“I thought I could handle it okay! I’m not some little kid Johnny. I’m a young adult who made a mistake and went past her limits” She heard Johnny sigh on the other end.
“You’re right…..You’re right you are an adult. But can you blame me for being concerned? Last time this happened, you landed in hospital with no one knowing what was wrong. I never want any of us to go through that again.” Moxy didn’t like to think about her last stretch of not eating. All of her memories revolved around the worried looks of the 127 members as they surrounded her hospital bed.
“I’m sorry Johnny. I promise to keep a closer watch on my food intake.”
“And I promise to help her.” Hannah chimed in, making Johnny and Moxy laugh. “Don’t worry oppa, we’ll get our leader back on track.” Hannah placed a container of food in front of Moxy and a fork. Before he hung up, Johnny told Hannah to take photo evidence of Moxy eating and send it to him. To ease his worries.
Moxy finally dug into the delicious food Hannah had ordered. It’s not weird to cry over really good food, right?
“So what happens?” Hannah asked between bites.
“What do you mean?”
“When it feels like you can’t eat. What runs through your head.” Moxy blew a raspberry trying to think of how to answer that.
“I guess….I overthink about everything. The performance and my vocals. I want everything to be perfect for the fans. I don’t want to disappoint them. Those thoughts…..they run through my brain like a hamster wheel. I get overwhelmed then my stomach gets queasy. You know what happens next.” Moxy took another bite of her food.
The members of 127 set up a code word to help Moxy through these anxious moments. Code: Underwater. Anytime her emotions took over, Moxy could text one of the members at any time. They in turn would help calm her down and get a couple bites of food down in Moxy’s system. The more she thought about it. The more the truth behind her regression became apparent. She was AG’s leader. Calling her older members for help with her anxiety felt like she was being a baby. Someone that wasn’t fit to lead a team, especially when they were away from home.
“Now, you got me to help. And anytime you feel nervous like that I’ll remind you that you’re a beast and one of the best leaders around.” Hannah shook her shoulders, getting a smile on her face.
Luckily, she has the greatest members on the planet. Who would never think less of her for having anxieties.
“Even if you made a mistake you could never disappoint anyone. Not us and much less the fans, okay?” Moxy nodded. It would be difficult reaching out at first. But she never wanted to worry her members again. Not when it can be stopped beforehand. Taking Hannah’s words to heart, The oldest began to eat with earnest, savoring every bite.
As they ate, Aurora and Juno joined them with their own food. The four of them crowded around the small table, sharing what they had between them. Moxy knew the younger two wanted to be close after she scared them today.
The members decided to screw bedtime and just stay up. They scrolled through instagram, played music, danced and even caught up with some of the members. They all needed a night like this. After all, the tour just started. AG had a long way to go.

CAMDEN'S ANNUAL ITALIAN STREET FESTIVAL:
Location: The Borough of Camden. Hosts: The British-Italian community of London. Date: 19th of July - 21st of July. Dress Code: None.
EVENT SUMMARY:
It's once again time for Camden's annual celebration of Italian pride! Whether you hail from the homeland or not, all are welcome to come and enjoy a weekend celebrating one of Europe's richest and most beautiful cultures. There will be distinct representation from Sicilia, Lazio, Calabria, Abruzzo, Veneto, and of course, thanks to London's thriving Neapolitan community, Campania, all showing off the best their region has to offer. The well loved and long established festival brings together people from all over the city to enjoy good food, even better company, and endless entertainment. The canals will be lined with tables for people to dine at; catered to by the authentic street vendors and fresh food stalls boasting the best Italian cuisine outside of the country itself. The market will be transformed to offer art, clothing, wine, and much more, created either by the community itself, or imported directly from Italy. When evening starts to fall, though? Grab your sambuca shots, wait for the music to fill the air, and watch as the real party begins. Primrose Hill will play host to a mini music festival all of its own on all three days, with a spotlight on both upcoming and established British-Italian musicians throughout the day and well into the night. Rumours say there might even be some guest appearances from Italian artists, too. And yes, there will be pop up bars and grab-and-go Neapolitan pizza ready for you. We're not forgetting this is still London and you're all messy af...
MAIN POINTS OF INTEREST:
Cheese & Wine Tasting (Friday afternoon) - What better way to get things started than sampling Italy's two most beloved exports? Offering a spectacular selection of Sicilian wines (thanks @ Mount Etna for your service), a laid-back wine tasting event will take place for anyone (old enough, you little shits) to enjoy. You'll also get to vote which region has the best cheese. Fight to the death, tbh.
Dinner & Dance (Friday night) - Once you're all sufficiently drunk on Sicily's offerings, the traditional live bands will start to play canal-side. Laze beside the water with your dinner, enjoy the warm weather, and be transported to the streets of Italy as you eat your bodyweight in pasta.
Pizza Making (Saturday afternoon) - If you're not too hungover from necking sambuca shots at the festival in the park, or from finishing that bottle of wine you probably shouldn't have, try your hand at making authentic Neapolitan pizza with some of the best chef's Camden's Italian scene has to offer. What do you win? Pride, bitch. That's all you need. You're Italian.
A Taste of the Opera (Saturday evening) - Fancy a spectacular rendition of Rigoletto? Probably not, you cultureless heathens, but the offer is there... Enjoy Verdi's masterpiece in the local community theatre, courtesy of the local youth operatic society. Support the local arts, bro.
Mini Venetian-Style Carnival (Sunday afternoon) - Yes, of course it's after Mass, don't worry... Head back down to the canal once more to watch London's best attempt at capturing the beauty and artistry of the Venetian Carnival. You'll also have a chance to make your own Venetian-style masks with the help of local artists. The creepier looking the better, apparently.
Drunk Shenanigans (All nights) - Because there's alcohol available from the vendors, and you've got an excuse to party in the streets? Go wild, bro.

Sherlock and Moriarty should rub their bellies together
Rating: Explicit
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes ACD
Characters: Jim Moriarty, Sebastian Moran, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Content: feedee/feeder relationships, weight gain competition, extreme gaining, immobility, johnlock ACD, mormor ACD
Summary: Moriarty invites Sherlock to dinner in order to regale him with an extremely tempting offer.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, love?” John said discreetly as he walked into the Glass Gate beside Sherlock who leaned on his modified, reinforced walker that was fitted with a platform for his gut. It was an exclusive ‘All You Can Eat’ buffet that catered to a very specific market. It became immediately obvious to John what that clientele was when they entered - it seemed many of the customers were at varying stages of obesity, particularly immobile obesity. Apart from the wait staff and the carers, Sherlock may have been one of the smaller attendees. John could see the frown on Sherlock’s plump lips, he clearly did not approve of that. John stroked Sherlock’s black curls causing them to turn into a small smile and focus on the matter at hand.
“Probably not, but I believe we won’t be in any danger. I think most likely scenario is we will leave annoyed- ah, yes,” Sherlock said to a waitress who approached them both. “The other members of our party have already arrived it-”
“Right this way, it’s Mister Moran’s usual table, Sir,” the woman interrupted with a thick East London accent. Sherlock cast a look to John, he expected this introduction. It was immediately obvious the woman knew Sebastian intimately. They followed her to a side room that had a more intimate and hedonistic feel to it. As soon as they entered there was a loud noise like meat slapping against slabs of meat and a familiar high pitched giggle. Sure enough, their the bloated hog of crime was.
“Locket! You actually showed,” Jim Moriarty laughed spraying food over his chest and hitting Sherlock’s front as he spoke. Sebastian Moran sat next to Moriarty, despite his muscular frame and height he seemed almost small next to the enormous pile of adipose next to him, very unsatisfied by the meeting. He had a scowl on his soft lips and his bright green eyes were narrowed. When he looked at Sherlock’s walker however he gave a small smirk, Moriarty was sat in his specially made wheelchair showing he was far heavier.
“Yes, well, you gave me little choice,” Sherlock wheezed dismissively. John stood next to him, he leant on his walking stick but didn’t wish to sit in case he was needed. He rested one hand on Sherlock’s shoulder protectively, Moriarty didn’t even glance towards John but Moran stared intently and suspiciously.
“Oh, yeah. The little threat we made to your doctor,” Moriarty giggled. “Anyway, what’s the craic, eh?” He asked, eating another from his large pile of cheeseburgers and shoving it into his mouth. Moran barked at a waiter to bring more, John politely asked for a menu, causing Moran to roll his eyes.
“I am fine thank you, why am I here?” Sherlock pushed. When the waiter came back he turned to him. “I’d like an extra large portion of everything, please,” he added cordially. Moran snorted and folded his arms as he slouched in his chair.
“I thought you might be interested in a little competition,” Moriarty hummed, one of his hands began shaking his gut. Sherlock’s cheeks turned pink as he felt Moriarty’s stomach rubbing against his, the soft adipose pushing against Sherlock’s girth. He let out a small gasp causing a state from John and Moran, John frowned at Moriarty in disapproval and Moran nearly hissed possessively in disgust. Sherlock wanted to kick Moriarty away, but against his better judgement he began rubbing his stomach against Moriarty’s. Both of them rubbing their soft bellies together was oddly intimate and hidden, not that they would ever admit it.
“A contest. Curious. What kind?” Sherlock asked tilting his head into his fat neck.
“Who can become the fattest.” Moriarty continued stuffing his face, not bothering to stop to speak and thus making a mess over his newly tailored bespoke shirt.
“Hm. That is … Not uninteresting.” Sherlock sighed and rubbed his gut as his food was placed in front of him as he sat comfortably in his gigantic reinforced chair. “And how would a winner be chosen?”
“I was thinking we have monthly check-ins where we’re both weighed and the amount we’ve gained is compared.” Moriarty said calmly, as if he hadn’t pushed his gut into Sherlock’s, almost causing him to let out a small moan.
“You are currently heavier I believe, that would be an unfair starting point.” Sherlock grew flustered but his it well, he had one hand gripping his top roll and another beginning to make a start on his food with as much dignity as he could muster.
“Fine, fine. If you’re gonna be a baby, based on how much we’ve gained.”
“Hm. Why? What do you gai-” Sherlock scowled as he saw Moriarty grin from the almost uttered accidental pun. “How does me getting larger benefit you?”
“I gain loads and seeing a pretty boy getting fatter, duh,” Moriarty snorted. “What a stupid question.”
“That can’t be all it is.” Sherlock was incredulous but he actually believed him, it was frustrating. He couldn’t see anything else this meeting could be about.
“Well, since I’m going to keep getting fatter for as long as feels good … You don’t have to decide now. But the longer you take the bigger I get and the more of a challenge it’s gonna be for you, little Locket.” Moriarty shrugged, smirking as Moran gave a small irritated huff. He began shaking his belly, causing Sherlock’s cheeks to grow pink as he felt their fat rippling together. “Seb, try some of the chicken wings, they’re delicious.”
“I- I will consider it,” Sherlock conceded, trying to ignore the growing wetness in his cunt. He had to admit, becoming fatter than Moriarty was a rather exciting prospect.

“Qu’ils mangent de la brioche!” or, “Let them eat cake!” Perhaps the most famous quote about cake ever were the words of a great French princess. Typically attributed to Marie Antoinette herself upon being informed that the peasants were so poor that they had no bread to eat during one of the famines that occurred in France during the reign of her husband, Louis XVI.
Needless to say, the ignorance and arrogance of that disdainful statement did not win either Marie Antoinette or her husband any respect or sympathy from their people, who then proceeded to behead both of them during the French Revolution!
However, none of this changes the fact that cake is arguably one of the most delicious baked goods that humans have ever made to eat, and its numerous varieties continue to astound every cake fan. For that reason, it is obvious that cake is more than deserving of its own little holiday.
The History of National Cake Day
The history of cake dates back to ancient times, and the first cakes are thought to have been made in Ancient Greece and Egypt. These first cakes were rather heavy and flat and were eaten at the end of a meal with nuts and honey.
Nowadays, this type of cake has evolved into baklava, a traditional Greek dessert and a must-try for any fan of sweet stickiness. In later years the ancient Romans also created their own version of this sweet treat, which was rather creamy and rich. However, like in many cultures around the world, this cake was often reserved for the gods and was offered to them at their temples as a sign of respect, love, and reverence.
The Oxford English Dictionary traces the English word cake back to the 13th century. During the Great Depression, it was necessary to provide easy, relatively cheap food to millions of Americans who were living in poverty, and the boxed cake mix was born. The idea turned out to be pure gold, as millions of housewives all over the United States took advantage of this way to make their lives easier.
Cakes started being used to celebrate birthdays in 19th century Western Europe and eventually earned their candles on top. But cakes are also a delightful addition to a variety of other meals and functions, from a simple family dessert to a huge catered party. Whether chocolate or black forest, angel food or the pineapple upside-down version, pretty much everyone enjoys a slice of cake.
And now, National Cake Day is celebrated throughout the world!
National Cake Day Timeline
1200s First recorded use of the word “cake”
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word “cake” can be traced back to this time. The word is likely of Viking origins from the Old Norse language.
1600s First modern cakes are baked
With advances in technology of ovens, and the use of whipped eggs (instead of yeast) for leavening, the predecessor to modern versions of cakes began. These cakes are typically round and topped with icing, often containing dried fruits and nuts.
1700s Cakes become part of birthday celebrations
In Germany, the “Kinderfest” is the celebration of a child’s birthday. Though no gifts are given, there is a cake that is decorated with the number of candles corresponding to the child’s age. Later, the industrial revolution makes the tradition even more accessible and popular.
1894 Cake recipe published in London
One of the first recipes for cake published in a cookbook appears as a Layer Cake in The Cassell’s New Universal Cookery Book.
1929 First cake mix appears
Sold in a can instead of a box, the first cake mix contained not only flour but also dried molasses, dried eggs and some other ingredients that water could be added to at home. New flavors developed and making cakes became even more varied but rather simple.
How to Celebrate National Cake Day
Everyone loves to celebrate National Cake Day! Whether making, eating or sharing this delicious dessert, this is the perfect day to enjoy a treat with ideas such as these:
Enjoy a Slice of Cake
Of course, the best way to celebrate National Cake Day is by eating cake with family and friends. It is possible to buy a number of different types of cakes to celebrate the event. Many cafes and bakeries sell cake pieces by the slice, so it’s easy to try a few different flavors.
Grab a few friends, head on over to a bakery, and fill up your plates with several different kinds. Pass the forks around and tuck into a bite of each of them. Cinnamon coffee cake, pound cake, bundt cake or strawberry shortcake. It really doesn’t matter which kind, as long as it is appreciated and enjoyed on this important bakery day.
Bake a Variety of Cakes
Have fun making your own cakes at home to mark the occasion. There are many different kinds of cake to choose from. Yeast cakes are one of the oldest types and are pretty similar to bread in texture, due to the yeast content.
Cheesecake is another type of cake that is unique and also delicious. It’s easy to find many different types of cheesecake, starting with the rich and creamy New York-style cheesecakes baked in a graham cracker crust and drowned in cherry syrup. Or, try out the healthier varieties made from cottage cheese and filled with orange and lemon peel and raisins that are lower in calories and fat and higher in protein.
Sponge cakes rely on the air trapped inside them during baking for their light texture, and are famously paired with rich butter or cream cheese-based icings for balance; however, these icings tend to be a bit complicated to make and are easily ruined, so if for those who are novice bakers, perhaps go for something a bit simpler.
Red Velvet Cakes, Carrot Cakes, and Lemon Drizzle cakes are all delicious varieties of cake that can be made with a myriad of different recipes and ingredients. So pick a type of cake that suits the needs of your family and friends the best–and then get started baking! The experience will be both fun and educational.
Take a Cake Decorating Class
Cakes are delicious to eat, but an equally exciting part of a cake is the way that the outside can be decorated in all sorts of ways. From icing roses to fondant shapes, decorating a cake with sugary sweetness is an art form all its own. Check at a local library or hobby store to see what types of cake decorating classes might be on offer. Those who get really good at cake decorating might even choose to turn it into a delightful business opportunity!
Share Cake with Others
Inherent in its size, cake is almost always meant to be shared! That means that National Cake Day is the perfect opportunity to buy (or bake) a large cake and then find some people to share it with. Coworkers, neighbors, the mailman or the teacher at the kids’ school. Anyone will feel delighted and thankful to be given a piece of cake on this day. Many of them might not even know that it’s National Cake Day, so be sure to share the news so they can get on board with it too!
Find National Cake Day Discounts and Deals
The deals tend to change each year, so pop into local bakeries to see if they are offering any freebies or discounts in honor of National Cake Day. The Cheesecake Factory, Boston Market, Mrs. Fields and Baked by Melissa are just a few of the companies who have given discounts in conjunction with past cake days. Check them out!

What's the vibe? #37

News:
Rishi Sunak has decided to push back on the UK's net zero commitments. What does it mean for us?
Side read: What Rishi Sunak’s net zero overhaul means for UK emissions (FT)
Net Zero: "Put simply, net zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) that's produced and the amount that's removed from the atmosphere. It can be achieved through a combination of emission reduction and emission removal." -National Grid
Probably the most relevant policy change to a young person is the end of the sale of diesel and petrol cars from 2030 to 2035. I guess this helps the car makers but we also must think about clean air, and resources (oil) still needed to be used.
I wasn't certain before but between this, HS2 not being fully developed for the whole country and abolishing inheritance tax, we might see the end of the 13 year Tory party rule in 10 Downing Street. It's just not going well with Tory donors who have been with the party for years. It's very obvious now that climate change is a topic that is seen as unavoidable across party lines so pushing back targets is really unpopular.
Young people ditching ambitions over UK cost of living crisis, research finds - The Guardian
"Two-thirds of the 18- to 24-year-olds who were questioned for the research have lowered their career expectations, with the cost of living, the state of the UK economy and their own mental health named as the biggest factors.
The research, based on interviews with 2,500 young people, was carried out for the Prince’s Trust with the LadBible Group, with a consumer youth panel consisting of over 55,000 Gen Zs, born between 1997 and 2012, and millennials, born between 1981 and 1996."
How can we inspire young people in this country to see optimistically? How can we create places where we get together and do healthy (maybe non alcohol related) activities? Where they can focus if they want to, lose themselves in something artistic if they want to or just be spiritually replenished by environments they choose to be in.

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to the working week although, for those of you working in the NHS, welcome to just another day.
My goodness! What a weekend! Seriously, that was full-on! By Sunday night, we were all shattered!
We both worked on Friday and then went out on Friday night. Lucky enough to get an invitation to a swanky venue in Balham, to celebrate the 60th birthday of a very glamourous woman! In fact, there was a surplus of very beautiful people there and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Couldn’t get a parking space anywhere on our road, had to park on the road behind! Got to bed after 2.00.
Saturday morning: up at 7.30, rescued the car, packed it up with garden waste and off to the recycling plant. The Trouble had been doing some sterling work (in preparation for a garden party.) Left Willesden Junction around 9.40 and got to Stratford just before 11.00. A dear friend had very kindly offered to make an Oreo and strawberry cheesecake for The Trouble on her birthday. So, I picked up the cheesecake, took it to the Mi-Soul studios and stuck it in the fridge while I did my show.
Many thanks to everyone that listened to the show live and to everyone that will listen to the show on MixCloud. The Letter N (Part Two) next Saturday at 1.00 p.m.
On Saturday evening, after six months of plotting and planning, we finally staged a surprise 60th party for The Trouble. Thanks to a fairly elaborate set of lies, she genuinely did not have a clue and, naturally, wept when she saw all her friends and family.
Saturday was probably the hottest day of the year so far, we were a bit sticky indoors, so much of the party spilled outside but that worked well. Naturally, many people didn’t know one another, but they’re a chatty, gregarious bunch, so they all made new friends.
It’s the people that make a party and there was a big turn-out for a woman that is loved by many. As far as I’m concerned, she spends too much time on the phone, but I have a very male attitude on this subject. She knows best. She makes time for her friends and they clearly appreciate her. I guess the most precious thing you can give people is your time and The Trouble makes time for many people. You could feel it: there was so much love in the room for her! For me, the most intense part of the evening was when she sang a live version of Prediction’s ‘The Way We Were’. Classic North-West London lover’s rock! Not a dry eye in the house!
In terms of budget, I paid for it all. Well, it only happens once in a Iifetime! I paid for some proper Caribbean catering and a free bar, which did not run out! Bet there were some sore heads the morning after!
On Sunday, recycling again! Party No. 3. As she didn’t know we were throwing a party for her on Saturday, The Trouble had organised her own Sip & Paint Party in our back garden. She did a Sip & Paint Party with her employers a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. A party organiser comes to your house (or place of work), brings canvas, easels and paint, and you provide the food and drink. So, after two parties on Friday and Saturday, we had another one in Chez Wesker for The Trouble and her closest girl friends. It rained but it didn’t make any difference. They drank, and painted, and drank, and made a lot of noise! We literally collapsed into bed! And I have seven hours of teaching today!
Have a marvellous and momentous Monday. I love you all.

Diamonds are Forever
A london falling event - Starting on the 26th of April
The Jolly Rogers have been taking advantage of the shift in leadership in the opposition’s ranks to prepare a bold and extremely lucrative heist. One of the advantages of working in a company is that the workers are always more important than the CEO.
They’d hit the Jabberwocks on their turf, and they would come home with a lot of money in their pockets.
The event at the casino was announced many months ago: every year the casino hosts a large-scale auction, featuring one star element, bound to draw in investors, collectors, as well as every curious citizen in town. Last year, it was a private collector willing to part with a Goya; this year, an emerald that is said to have belonged to none other than Queen Victoria herself.
Paintings, diamonds and antiques will be displayed in the lobby but it is only during the auction that the pièce de resistance will be revealed.
This is when the Jolly Rogers will strike.
For the perfect heist to be pulled off, the gang needs the following roles to be filled:
The Distraction
-As the title already entails, The Distraction's job is to distract. It's up to them to be the center of attention to pull the prying eyes in their direction instead of what's happening behind the smoke screen. Example: posing as the groom/bride of a stag/hen night party to keep the casino's staff catering to them.
The Ball & Chain
-They enter the auction room with an eminent investor* on their arm, potentially harnessing the interest of a Jabberwock who is hellbound on keeping a close eye on them.
The Imposter(s)
-They neutralize and impersonate members* of the private company mandated to handle the objects being auctioned off.
The Quick-Change
-A critical role that requires the one to fill it not to be caught under any circumstances. They have the fake gem in their pockets, ready to change it out for the real one to give the Jolly Rogers as much time to get away before being found to be the fake. They'll be working in tandem with the rest of the crew, a precise dance, while weaving through the wild cards* of the guests and Jabberwocks alike.
In addition to these designated roles for the characters already within the Jolly Rogers, you may have noticed in some of these descriptions an asterisk by some keywords. These roles are encouraged to be played by our members during the event. For those who are interested in playing these temporary (and very possibly in-game disposable) characters, let the main know! We hope this becomes a great opportunity for all our players to enhance their muse since these characters are just for fun without any pressure to continue with them!
For those who play characters who are in neither gang, there are plenty of opportunities built in!
From gathering the major storylines of the night to upholding the laws of London or being a V.I.P. for the night, the Red Casino welcomes all making it the perfect opportunity for characters to mingle with all sorts of people, criminals, law enforcement, government, etc.

A diverse and well-executed menu will delight your guests and leave a lasting impression of your small party.

Hey folks! One of my fave fics is Or Be Nice by charlottemadison and I especially resonate with Crowly's particular brand of social anxiety in it. I was wondering if you knew of any other fics where Crowly has social anxiety.
Thank you for your help, you're all so awesome for everything you do!
Hello! Not a lot of fics are specifically tagged with social anxiety unfortunately, but here are a few where I would say at least some of Crowley’s anxiety is social...
Pressed Flowers by TheNoctambulist (T)
A romance between two business owners of London's SoHo.
Anthony Crowley, proud owner of Eden (Producer of Fine Flowers and Bouquets since 2008), didn't expect to find love in his life. Ever. He had his plants, and what more could a florist want? But when Aziraphale Fell, a slightly fussy, altogether chaotic bookshop owner wanders into his shop looking for a bouquet, he begins to question what he really wants at all.
Clementine by Mussimm (E)
I love you madly Let my imagination run away with you gladly.
The seaside neighbours AU exactly one person asked for.
Almost Heaven by pilatesandpinot (E)
English literature professor Azra Fell finally decides to go on sabbatical for a semester. If he were smart, he’d probably spend his time in the Mediterranean, go hiking across Europe or America, or perhaps learn the power of prayer and meditation. Instead, he settles into a seaside town called Abel’s Point, also known as “Almost Heaven”, hoping some time away from London will help him rejuvenate and write his memoir. Little does he know that the town will prove more than he bargained for. Not to mention his next door neighbor, Anthony Crowley, who happens to be the most flirtatious yet neurotic man in town.
Rearrangements by sheendav (E)
Aziraphale, a lonely anxious bookseller from Soho, walks in St. James park every Wednesday and Sunday.
For nearly nine months he has had various, wordless, encounters with a very handsome red-haired man with sunglasses.
They have never spoken, but a strange and lovely intimacy has slowly grown between them as they share the same space, and feed the ravenous ducks by the pond.
It's all been rather lovely... and then one day... the red-haired man says 'hello.'
All You Knead Is Love by fumi_faust & Writer_Maxtli (NR)
Anthony Crowley left behind the world of high class dining to open a small bakery in Soho. Aziraphale is a lonely bookshop owner who finds it on accident. Cue rom com levels of romance, baking shenanigans, and everyone being happy. As they say, if you want a hyper specific bakery AU, you gotta do it yourself.
And the one you mentioned...
Or Be Nice by charlottemadison (E)
Crowley and Aziraphale are neighbours. And...it does not go at all well, until it does.
A human AU in which Aziraphale is a bookseller, Crowley is a drummer, and they are both petty disasters in the worst/best way.
+++
“So what’s your deal?” “My-my-my deal?” Aziraphale stammered. “I’m a bookseller, is my deal.” “Oh,” Crowley replied, sounding as uninterested as it was possible to sound. “It’s just, I couldn’t help overhearing, and --” Aziraphale swallowed hard. “You really are an accomplished musician. But I thought -- for after 11PM -- perhaps we could reach some arrangement?” “Arrangement?” Aziraphale felt his his smile turning forced. “Such as, perhaps, playing the drums *before* eleven? Instead of after?” Crowley stared blankly at him. In fact he stared for so long that Aziraphale briefly wondered if he'd lapsed into ancient Greek again, which he was known to do in bad dreams or during panic attacks.
