Hey reptile community, I need YOUR help!
Hello Reptiblr,
I am creating a searchable database of all reptile morphs that have some type of medical issue associated with them. Birth defects, an increased rate of a specific issue happening, neurological problems, skeletal deformities; you name it and I want to document it. The problem is; the reptile community is very decentralized and information is hard to find. This is especially true for newer/less well known morph projects and morphs that are not stateside.
Right now: I have already got the more common issues like the base spider ball python, enigma morph leopard gecko, lemon frost leopard gecko, and sunkissed corn snake. Cinnamon ball python and super black pastel have also been documented. i have also managed to track down some lesser known combos like the Lichen leopard gecko (contains the enigma morph) and Meteor (also contains enigma) but there is still a LOT more ground to cover.
i have been combing through forums and morphmarket but I still need your help.
if you have a picture of:
An abyss morph (not Abyssian) leopard gecko
A Smaug Morph leopard gecko
please reblog this post or shoot me an ask with the picture.
And if anyone knows:
problematic frog morphs (any species)
Problematic burmese, reticulated, or carpet python morphs
Problematic axolotl morphs involving grafting (or genetic issues)
Problematic corn snake morphs
problematic gecko morphs (any species)
lesser-known morph combos containing the enigma, lemon frost, or spider morph
Please reblog this post or shoot me an ask with the name of the morph, a description of the issues the morph has, and a link to a picture.
i am going to continue forum deep-diving but any help will be greatly appreciated.

my plans for excelling my snake keeping/breeding
i have a singular ball python with the below morphs
pastel, het clown, and het pied
i have several goals to reach
-produce a silver bullet
-produce a bel(black or blue)
-and produce a purple passion
my first shall be the silver bullet. now, what is a silver bullet?
a silver bullet consists of the pastel morph and the super version of the cinnamon morph. i have already aquired one of those.
pewter, pastel and regular cinnamon, is also very beautiful, so i will first try to get to that, then silver bullet.
my plan -
get money
go to the reptile expo that happens once a year in my area and aquire either a cinnamon het pied, or a cinnamon het clown of any age.
wait till appropriate breeding season and breeding age for the snakes
eggd.
flawless. this post will be updated occasionally.
non snake people that want to know what things mean, i will be happy to explain

ball python breeders have the same vibe as weed growers to me. "i call this one the "Banana Clown" and this one "Cinnamon Pie"...oh, man this one is "albino candy cinnamon pastel" the naming conventions are unusual at best. lol

Note
The skies are cloudy and it's been raining for the past 12 hours- it's dim and dark and the sun is nowhere in sight. The perfect kinshift for such a miserable autumn's day 🩶.
I had a memory last night, before I fell asleep, and it confirms that I was both transmasc, and the eldest of my Mother and Father's children. I was sitting somewhere, preparing to administer my Tshot, as one does, and a little Wednesday tottles in and stares at me as I do so. Of course, I let her watch and wait to see if she had any questions (she always had questions). Eventually she asks what was in the syringe, and I tell her "the essence of many men". She was thoughtful, and gave her sharp little nod before tottling away. It still makes me smile to this day- she was always a cruel little one, and it's no surprise that she was satisfied with my answer 🩶
I have a vague recollection of a family portrait that was hung in the manor, and while I don't believe I have the skill to copy it exactly, I wonder if I could recreate it in my own way. Close enough to be able to see it again.
I remember having pets- at least one snake (a super cinnamon ghost/silver bullet ball python, and/or a super black pastel ball python) and one tarantula (desert blonde). I would carry my python around everywhere with me- she was a gift from my aunt from around the time I was born, and we never parted. She was a sweet girl, and very friendly- I can't remember if she had any eggs in her lifetime, but I'm leaning towards yes.
My tarantula was a gift from my father, and I remember him being very excited to gift her to me. She was only a year or two old when we got her, and I believe Father got her from a friend of his, if my memory serves. My tarantula was shy and timid, but would still enjoy being held every now and then; she didn't much care for walks/being carried places, though.
I remember when Wednesday first started to try and kill me. I would entertain her, of course- let her "win" like an older brother should. One time she buried me alive after attempting to slip something into my drink; I believe it was a sedative/poison mixture. Though she was too small to reach any strong stuff, so I had already awoke before she even begun to dig the hole. Obviously, I went back to sleep so she could still have her little victory, but it was all very endearing. Plus, nothing gets you ready for the day quite like escaping from your own grave! Reminds a man that he's alive.
We were always so proud of Wednesday's talents, of the way she expressed her passions and interests. When the time came, she was also an exceptional older sister to our brother, and taught him many things. I remember grand family gatherings in the manor: sometimes with just the Addams', and other times with distant relatives, too. I believe Mrs. Lily Munster was Mother's sister, and our Aunt, so they would visit the manor a bit more often than the other relatives. Aunt Lily and my Father had taught me how to sing since I was young, and so I often performed at large gatherings with our other musically inclined relatives.
I've also been thinking about what my name might've been, and Márquez has been floating around at the top. It definitely feels like a name my father would choose, but I'll let it sit in my mind a while before confirming anything too quickly.
Anyways, this is getting long since I've been adding things to this throughout the day, so I'll leave that there 🩶 It's always nice to reminisce on old times, though.
- A member of the Addams Family #🪦🥀🌕

Meet the newest member of the family, Artemis "Artie" Doot Doot. We just brought him home today, and so far they're loving their enclosure. My wife brought me to this local bird and reptile place to hold a snake, basically to get me used to handling them for when we got one in a few weeks. Enclosure was already 99% complete and I fell in love with Artemis immediately. He's somewhere between 8-10 months, male, and uses any pronouns :) For anyone curious, she's a cinnamon banana super pastel ball python. She's lovely!
(There are also approx 4 isopods in there....somewhere. We'll probably never see them again.)

okay so I'm gonna do ball pythons cuz I know them more
There's 3 different types of morphs, recessive, incomplete dominant, and dominant
a common example of a recessive morph is albino, and basically that gene needs a peice from both parents to show up in the snake
when a snake has both albino genes, they express the coloration of that, when a snake has one, it doesn't, but has the possibility of making one
an albino and a normal(or 'wild type') would make all 100% het albino, which means they have only one of the genes, so they appear as normal
a het albino and a normal would make all the babies have a 50% chance of being het albino
a het + a het would make 25% normals, 25% hets, and 50% albinos
and finally an albino and an albino would make all albinos
incomplete dominant(also known as co dominant) morphs only need one allele(gene thangy) in order to display it on their scales (while recessive needs both alleles), and can be made into 'super' variations, which is when the affects of the morph are heightened, and the snake has both alleles
one example of this is the pastel morph, and the super pastel morph makes them lighter colored
incomplete dominant morphs can also be put together with other incomplete dominant morphs, for example the pewter morph is pastel and cinnamon both displayed
dominant morphs can be a little more complicated, but its mainly just like co dominant, but theres no super version. an example is the spider morph(which is a 'dirty' morph complex, meaning that they have side affects that is bad for the snakes health [eg. spinal kinks, a 'wobble', neurological affects, fertility issues, and even lethal supers(when a dirty co-dom)] so i don't support the breeding of that morph)
if a spider was bred with a normal, you'd get 50% spiders and 50% normals
also, all these morphs can be stacked together (eg. a super pastel[double pastel] cinnapin[cinnamon+pinstripe] het piebald)
a cool complex is the blue eyed lucy(or leucistic), which is a full white snake with blue eyes, that can be acheived in a number of ways.
bambooxbamboo
russoxrusso
lesserxlesser
mojavexmojave
mysticxmystic
specialxspecial
phantomxphantom
mochaxmocha
honeyxhoney
and any pairings of these can make a BEL(blue eyed lucy), eg. russoxmojave, honeyxmocha, bambooxlesser, any of these would make a bel
theres also a BLACK eyed lucy complex, (which is the same with black eyes) and these are the pairings↓
flamexflame
vanillaxvanilla
discoxdisco
firexfire
sulfurxsulfur
lemonbackxlemonback
creedxcreed
(also any mismatched of these as well)
cooper himself is a pastel, but he is also het piebald(makes a white snake with patterned splotches) and het clown(affects patterning) which is pretty cool :33
some of my favorite morphs are super cinnamon(prone to kinking and duckbilling[facial deformity] :[[ ), silver bullet, purple passion, and queen bee(includes spider morph :[[ )
(i dont condone the breeding of some of these, just think theyre beautiful)
Tumblr media
super cinna^
Tumblr media
silver bullet^
Tumblr media
purple passion^
Tumblr media
queen bee^
whats really cool is that theres over 7,500 different morphs of these bad boys!!!!
i really want to get into ball python breeding eventually, and two of my goals would be to make a BlueEL, and a purple passion :]
meme my mother sent me and i found very accurate for your enjoyment ↓

edit(april 4th): found this in my drafttssss
