Today's polish is not my favorite, although it is very pretty. I'd heard a lot about this one so I was excited to try it. The pinky purple shift it has at an angle was my favorite part and you can see it best in the video. That being said it was VERY sheer so I felt like the slight amount of staining I have from painting my nails every day gave the polish a green tinge that I'm just not a fan of. I'd try this one again as a topper over black or with a nail line blurring base coat next time. This is Prick from Bee's Knees Lacquer.

Give me multichrome and iridescent characters. In fact, give me character designs that are SO over the top that you almost HAVE to love them. Fuck the "mary sue designs are bad" bullshit.

There's nothing inherently wrong with minimalism itself, the problem is that Capitalism is using it to wash away color from our world, and it's changing how we judge the things around us.

Now this tiny girl was a task and a half to blush without getting pastels all over the body too. She arrived as a fullset, but had unblushed wings and was missing the vine tattoos along her arms and legs. So I added them.

The video is needed to show the multichrome shimmer I put on the wings. They shimmer from gold to pink to purple to blue! I blushed them first with pastels and then slathered them in shimmer.

All Because I Saw a Purple Tree.

I’ve recently struggled through a large creative block, and waiting for my normal stream of ideas and creativity to begin flowing again has been a bit disheartening. About a week ago, I was driving around, running errands, and trying to come up with a new idea for a BYOP (build your own palette). As soon as I told myself to stop trying to force it, and that inspiration would come when it was supposed to, a beautiful little sight came up on my right. A tree with what appeared to be plum colored leaves (which I’ve since learned might be called an Eastern Redbud, but I’m not totally sure), settled between two trees with dark green leaves, captured my attention. It felt so wonderfully autumnal compared to bright blue sky and overbearing sun, and I knew at that moment that my next palette needed to be plum and green.

And, of course, it’s beautifully grungy. I wanted only plums and greens in this one, no blues, no neutrals, just those two, gorgeous, contrasty colors. Notably, there aren’t any light or pastel mattes in here either, and the lightest shade is a metallic lime green (top right).

Making this palette also made me realize that, while I don’t wear my multichrome eyeshadows all that often, I do reach for them a lot when building my own palettes, especially ones with contrasting colors. It’s an easy way to bridge the gap between the colors I’m working with, and multichromes can be incredibly versatile.

There’s not much to explain with this one, but I’ll try to give some more insight into my thought process.

Black Hyacinth (bottom left) is a black with plum undertones, and before I even sat down to make this palette, I knew this would be the first thing to go in. Most black eyeshadows tend to lean neutral or cool-toned, so having a plummy, warm-undertone black is nice for a palette like this. It works best with warmer toned shadows when blending, but I find it’s black enough, and the warmth is subtle enough, that it can work with other colors like green.

I essentially built the rest of the palette around Black Hyacinth, which is definitely the backbone of the palette, given it’s the most versatile thing in the palette. The reason it’s the most versatile is mainly for it’s depth (making it useful for deepening different kinds of looks, as an eyeliner, and/or for detail work), but it can work with the plums or greens in the palette, and as pairing or base for the black-based multichrome in the palette.

Speaking of the multichrome, Nirvana (middle row, last shade) shifts from a couple shades of green, blue, and silver. Depending on the angle, I can also see some warm purple, but that’s really dependent on the lighting and the angle. The dominant colors are definitely the greens and the warm silver, which I feel compliments both the greens and plums in the palette.

For the rest of the matte shades, my main priority was being able to create a blend with either the plums or greens. So I went with a dark matte of each color that was lighter than Black Hyacinth, and then an additional, slightly lighter shade to accompany that.

For the metallics, I wanted to keep them dark, and kind of grungy. Dress Up (center), is a really grungy plum with gold, green, and orange glitter, and Nightsky (bottom row, middle shade) is a blackened green with green, blue, and gold glitter. The last shade I chose was Prismatic (top row, last shade). I honestly didn’t know what to use to finish this color story, but I wanted it to be a 9-pan, so I decided to go with something light that I could potentially use to highlight or just brighten up a look. Prismatic has a lime green base that shifts pink and blue. Normally, it’s too pigmented for me to use as a highlight on my fair skin, but I’m wondering if the brightness of it will contrast off the darkness of the palette to be an effective highlight.

Last week I wore Sand Slick by POP Polish. It’s part of their new pastel multichrome range. This has a nude-beige base with a strong green metallic shimmer that when viewed head-on in natural light looks like warm, golden sand. When you turn your fingers to certain angles you see it range all the way through to blues and purples.

It’s difficult to photograph the full range of what you see with this polish, but I’ve tried my best! Application was easy: three coats and I could still see some nail line in certain circumstances but this feels right being a slightly sheer polish so I’m okay with that. I have a couple of the others in this collection. I’m not convinced they’re worth the price, but they are fun.

Makeup enthousiasme : les multichromes

Gens, 

Quand on me demande si j’ai pas déjà cette couleur ( quelque soit le produit), j’ai tendance a répndre qu’il existe 16 millions de couleur dans un écran, et qu’elles ne représentent qu’une seule texture... alors non j’ai pas cette couleur parce qu’en maquillage, ces 16M de coleurs se déclinent en BEAUCOUP  de textures. 

Les mats, les satinés, les irisés, les métalliques (grah), les pailletés et depuis environ un an ... les multichromes. 

Ne vous fiez pas à ce que des marques conventionnelles vont vous dire, le multichrome existe de puis LONGTEMPS. Ca fait environ dix ans que cette formulation est utilisée dans les vernis a ongles par exemple, et une de mes premières palettes Too Faced avait un duochrome brun/teal ravissant dont il existe actuellement une version chez Mac je crois dont tout le monde chante les louanges alors que c’est loi d’etre une nouveauté. 

bref, quoi c’est un duochrome ? c’est un pigment qui va présenter deux couleurs selon l’angle dans lequel on le regarde. 

Un multichrome c’est pareil mais avec plus de nuances de couleurs représentées. 

Et c’est beau ! 

Au jeu des multichromes, les grandes marques vendues en parfumerie sont a la traine derrière les marques indépendantes (qui appartienent a des particuliers et non a un groupe de cosmétiques) qui, pour se démarquer des concurrents créent des trucs originaux que vous trouverez chez sephora comme nouveauté exclusive d’ici deux ans environ ( oui ca m’amuse autant que ca me navre)

bref. 

je possède actuellement quelques unes des merveilles de chez Blushtribe (marque anglaise qu’elle est jolie et qualitative)

Ils sont superbes mais sombres. Soyons honnêtes c’est mon cheatcode des jours ou j’ai la flemme de me maquiller et j’ai envie de faire un smoky eye punk. Tu mets une base pour fards a paupière, tu appliques le pigment au pinceau plat et dense, et PAF t’as un fard foncé qui change de couleur quand tu bouges en environ huit secondes. 

Seul bémol : ca s’estompe très mal et dans des nuances de gris chelou, et ca ne se fond pas dans les autres fards ce qui les rend difficiles a utiliser autrement qu’en aplats. il vaut aussi mieux les utiliser sur la plus grande surface possible sinon les nuances se voient peu. 

Une fois maitrisé, c’est ravissant meme sur mes yeux noirs ( sur des yeux clairs c’est absolument fabuleux) 

Pour des teintes moins sombres avec des reflets charmants il y a aussi Devinah Cosmetics . Ceux ci présentent moins de reflets que les Blush tribe mais ils se travaillent mieux et sont plus adaptés a ceux qui osent un peu moins les maquillages voyants. Pis ils ont un petit reflet métallique je vous raconte pas ... 

Dans ma liste de multichromes a tester il y a la collection Stained Glass par Clionadh Cosmetics elle est divisée en plusieurs sous catégories tellement ces fards sont nombreux, du plus chatoyant au plus pastel et is sont tous sublimes !

Ca coute un rein parce que les multichromes sont couteux a fabriquer et que les petites marques ne peuvent pas se permettre d’acheter/stocker en gros comme une grande compagnie d’autant qu tout est fait a la main ... mais en fait, 20$ le fard c’est le prix d’un fard urban decay et je peux certifier que tu trouves ni cette qualité ni ces pigments chez UD ou équivalents. 

Et pour finir, les merveilles qui m’ont fait écrire ce post : la collection megadimensionals de Touch of Glam Beauty ... j’ai absolument failli l’acheter a la seconde ou je les ai vus, le prix m’a legerement retenue. 

Légèrement. 

Disons que je mets des sous de coté jusqu’a ce que ca ne fasse pas un trou dans mon budget et je me les offre pour noel. 

Of course, toutes ces marques ont le bon gout d’etre non testées sur les animaux ce qui est un plus ( et pour moi une nécessité)
