man this company IS pretty lethal huh.

i am full of a lot of thoughts about them in lethal company. so many. like pomni being a designated ship bitch bc not only is she good at it but they cant trust anyone else on comms. zooble dipping out all the time via death just to avoid having to do anything ever. and also being stolen by the lootbugs and baboon hawks CONSTANTLY. they gang up on jax to lead him to snare fleas just to shut him up, otherwise he shouts and attracts the eyeless dogs. god.

Made a Canto VI inspired thingie with our boy of the day Heath!! Man this canto is so bonkers

I was idly thinking about which Sinners (both before and after reveal) are the closest to Don Quixote, and that then got me thinking about Heathcliff and Don, and how in that Canto III scene, Dante speculates that, if it hadn't been Don Quixote who acted first, it probably would have been Heathcliff next.

And you have in Canto VII, Heathcliff praises Don's ideals of "justice, honor... and loyalty". And it defintely feels to me like he shares at least some of those ideas, he too hates it when the oppressed are mistreated and abused (like he was).

But I feel like one of the things that seperated him from Don was that same thing that prevented him from opening the door and speaking to Cathy, what Canto VI calls the [Courage to Approach], he lacks that when it comes to these scenes of injustice, but that's something he admires about Don Quixote, that she doesn't have that lack of courage and has the conviction to act where he and others maybe wouldn't.

I dunno, I just think that's neat!

you don't even have to ask, she's the one who sees you puzzling over the ropes and pulls you to the side. within a blink she hands you a small length of new rope and sits next to you, close enough to hug. her deep, calm voice carefully instructs you on how to tie better knots, simplistic, then complex, a very subtle smile twitching on her lips whenever you succeed. you don't need to learn so many, but you want to. you want to stay, listening to her talk more than you've ever heard, the tension in your shoulders gradually leeching away

Starbuck joins you at some point, and you barely notice. not the way you usually do, nervously and with the strain of interacting. everything is comfortable, somehow, paying attention to Queequeg's voice so you're not overwhelmed. at some point her hands come to guide yours, and you have to resist the urge to stare at the vivid, beautiful tattoos and scars that dot her knuckles, beautiful because they're her. she holds your fingers so delicately, helping you tie a Desperate's Knot for the first time

and for a moment she simply grasps your hands, the finished knot in your palms as she watches you, here and existing with her.

A year ago today, I published my very first Just Dance fic!

It’s just a short one shot exploring the concept of Treasure not being the first time that Jack sees that dark version of himself, inspired by Breaking Down by Florence + the Machine. I sat down and wrote it without any sort of plan, kind of stream-of-consciousness’ing it, just writing whatever came to mind and letting it flow without looking back, and I published it the very same day. (Fun fact: I already had the first few chapters of Lose Yourself written and ready to go when I wrote and published this!)

It’s far from my best work, seeing as I wrote it based on a concept but without an actual plan, and it’s pretty short, but it still holds a special place in my heart since it’s my first fic in this fandom. One day I’d like to go back and expand on the concept a bit, because I like the idea and think it could be pretty cool if further fleshed out.

Truly wild that I’ve been writing JD fics for an entire year. I know it’s been a while since an update on anything I’ve written, but I promise I’m still planning on writing more for you guys!
