Grad Night will always be my favorite episode of Schitts Creek for one reason.

On my 21st birthday, I had invited this guy I liked to my birthday gathering. He said he couldn't go because he had a work thing. Then he showed up!

After my under 21 friends left, him, my friend and me were going to go to a bar, but instead he suggested we get some booze at Jewel and go to his place to hang with his roommate instead. My friend later told me she wanted to go to a bar so she could bow out, à la Stevie, but unfortunately that didn't happen. We ended up staying and talking so late, my friend missed the last Green Line train home, so she had to have her brother pick her up at the Blue Line instead.

He walked us to the Western Blue Line and my friend went through the turnstile first. He hugged me goodbye and kissed me on the cheek. Then, he kissed me on the mouth. It was magical.

I fell in love with that guy. He was the first person I could actually see myself spending my life with. But unfortunately, he dumped me for grad school. Also his parents (his dad was a Methodist pastor) didn't like me and told him he couldn't marry me. They were liberal for being clergy family from Georgia, but this tattooed atheist from the North was not someone their son could marry.

I always look fondly back on those days, but especially that night. So when Patrick takes David out, Stevie leaves so they can have a date and when David gives Patrick that look before he kisses him, I get so nostalgic for that night.
