Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things (1972)

THE SEASONING HOUSE (2012)

Rape warning af. THIS IS SAD AS HELL. This movie is a hard watch so only watch if you have a strong stomach (it is mainly child rape). I will not be making myself watch this movie again, once was more than enough but I still think it is important to post some sort of review for this film because people should not watch it without knowing what it is about. Please be advised.
⭐⭐
TRIGGER WARNING CHILD RAPE. PLEASE CHECK OTHER REVIEWS FOR MORE.

A bunch of little girls kept in a house to be raped constantly until they fucking die. A deaf girl tries to take care of them but watches her friend get violently raped to death. Fuck man. The deaf girl gets away and is found by a man who goes to the house to fuck the girls. Fuck man.

The Moor Delivers A Fiendishly Clever Tale of Regret and Why Past Mistakes Shouldn't Be Forgotten
Coming to UK theatres this weekend is The Moor, an effective piece of classic folk #horror which is sure to chill! Hope an American release will be coming soon too! #moviereview at:
Debuting in the UK June 14, 2024 Available for Digital Download Beginning July 1, 2024. When there’s a movie simply titled The Moor, it’s tough to not use a certain set of adjectives to describe why I find this film effectively creepy. This thriller from the creative team of Chris Cronin and Paul Thomas plays around with local folklore, and the supernatural mystery feels like it’s culled from a…

I woke up hyperaware of every inch of my body. A bone must be missing, a tooth or two my hair feels like an extension of the pillow that i hide my dreams underneath
And my head is too heavy with the weight of everything I said i will think about later…
Childhood, adolescence, adulthood
It all overlaps sometimes, and I worry that my childhood is all I’m going to grow up to live and relive.
I worry that it’s a punishment,
Like Prometheus; that I’ll spend my nights picking at it trying to cleanse myself from all that a young version of me wasn’t strong enough to process
only to wake up and realize I’m carrying it between my ribs again.
To be pregnant with another girl that will relive my life like I’m reliving my mothers.

I’m overthinking again
Stages of life like gates to the many graveyard’s that I have built inside me.
A sanctuary
A place of residence to all the feelings i had no time to over analyze.
I digged my phone from underneath the pillow, something must be said..
A phantom of the words that are trying to escape is at hands reach..
An Aura. A migraine.
Its 04:51 am. The sun didn’t rise yet, why am I awake again?
Thoughts are fighting each other for a way out, like a newborn waiting to be called by a name, any would be fine; as long as it gets acknowledgment.
On my way to the bathroom, i stumbled upon keywords
Some that I believe i missed the night before..
When anxiety was eating another pathway for itself. A way out, out of my brain
Necrosis.

I spent the past couple of months studying all that can go wrong in a woman’s body.
Starting from puberty highlighting child bearing period and ending with menopause.
It’s all prewritten
And I get mad with rage because improvisations are treated like a sin that can never be forgiven.
I watched women bleeding incomplete lives from between their legs, that without shedding a tear.
We’re used to that, aren’t we ?
Bleeding.
And incomplete lives.
Distant dreams of motherhood bleeding classic tragedies into an ink jar
to be hand written as another passage in the wrenching history of all the fabricated religious books that swore by women.

Movies/TV watched 2024; asterisks * are rewatches, asterisks w/question marks *? are rewatches I couldn’t remember having seen before but had a vague sense of familiarity and/or I found evidence of watching elsewhere in my archive. Struck titles were unfinished (I absolutely loved the book In Cold Blood but dozed off a bunch during the movie; Under the Skin seemed promising but I had to turn it off because I could NOT emotionally deal with the baby on the beach.)
This year I treated myself to some old weird nostalgia movies on VHS (YouTube or Internet Archive links provided when available). We have a decent collection of thrifted DVDs and we borrow a lot of movies from the library. Occasionally I’ll sign up for a month of a streaming service if there’s something ~exclusive~ we want to watch, and then we’ll end up watching whatever horror garbage is offered. Honestly, I think “meh, it was okay” was my main reaction to a lot of the movies I watched this year? Kind of a bummer.
Favorites in 2024: BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE!!!!! I just loved everything about it :D I thought it was aesthetically the right amount of Tim Burton without being *too much* Tim Burton, ya know? (Love movie environments that feel like a dark ride!) Beetlejuice is a forever favorite, one of my earliest “crushes” (proving that I have absolutely never had good taste in men & that as early as age 4 I yearned for a witty dirtbag prankster to show up and “promptly whisk [me] off from [my] ordinary life into wacky adventures in the land of the dead” [description from the box set of the animated series, yikes lmao; my other fave beginning around this time was Doctor Who lol, obvious underlying theme is obvious]). ANYway, BJ BJ was also the first movie we saw in theatres post-covid! Not necessarily due to covid-related concerns, but just like, idk, being busy and frugal homebodies. And I guess since more theatres are offering restaurant food nowadays, they’re making it more difficult to sneak food in (no bags allowed), booooo.
Other faves: Asteroid City (I’m not usually a Wes Anderson person but this was visually stunning), His House, Poor Things. The Seeding was pretty wild, if heavy-handed. Tho I kind of thought *everything* about male/female relationships in horror movies I saw this year was getting pretty heavy-handed :/ Sisters with Transistors was a cool documentary about women (Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Wendy Carlos, Pauline Oliveros, et al.) in the early days of electronic music, dreamily narrated by Laurie Anderson (*heart-eyes*). Beatles ’64 was surprisingly okay! I *really* appreciated the interviews with people who were young Beatlemaniacs back in the ‘60s, hearing (mostly) women talk about how the Beatles represented a new way of being masculine, how liking the Beatles could provide a sense of agency for women navigating their own desires, etc. That was a cool perspective which I do not personally encounter very often in the Beatles cinematic universe. (For background: My two most recent long-term relationships have been with indie musicians who just happen to be extremely obsessed with the Beatles, so I’ve spent the past 17+ years absorbing deep dives about how great they are, and while I like many of their songs and Understand Their Position of Importance in the History of Pop/Rock/Human Culture, I just do not give a fuuuck on a personal level. But I do still begrudgingly respect my partner’s interest enough to occasionally watch a Beatles documentary with him.)

5 Chanel Is Wrapped In Ribbons For Fall 2025 On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel presented a distinctly feminine collection for Fall 2025. Inspired by the brand’s signature bows—an accessory beloved by Coco Chanel and turned into a house code by Karl Lagerfeld in the ‘90s—the label’s studio team crafted a ribbon-filled collection, presented on a black ribbon-shaped runway in the Grand Palais. Its newest collection featured a mix of red, green, blue, black, and white tweed skirt suits, blazers, formal gowns, and minidresses, most layered with floating sheer skirts in homage to ribbons’ lightweight nature. However, one of the biggest runway moments was the brand’s newest show crasher: a stray pigeon that strutted down the runway before taking flight! An impressive front row was also in attendance, including Tyla, Camila Cabello, Dakota Fanning, Raye, Whitney Peak, and more. All images: Courtesy of Chanel Gigi Hadid Embraces Jazz Age Glamour For Vogue‘s April 2025 Issue Vogue’s latest cover star is Gigi Hadid! The supermodel is front and center for Annie Leibovitz’s lens, fronting the publication’s April 2025 issue. Posing in a gauzy Valentino dress styled by Alex Harrington, Hadid’s Jazz Age-themed editorial finds her outfitted in similarly nostalgic numbers by Chanel, Fendi, Dior Haute Couture, Prada, Miu Miu, Schiaparelli Haute Couture, and vintage pieces from Timeless Vixen. Her interview with Chloe Schama finds Hadid opening up on her multi-faceted nature as a model, mother, and founder of her Guest in Residence knitwear brand—as well as her recent romance with Bradley Cooper. “I think just getting to the point where knowing what you want and deserve in a relationship is essential,” Hadid says, “and then to find someone that is in a place in their life where they know what they want and deserve…and you both do work separately to come together and be the best partner that you can be. I just feel really lucky. Yeah, lucky’s the word. I respect him so much as a creative, and I feel that he gives so much to me: encouragement and, just, belief. For those people you admire to encourage you, it can create so much belief in yourself. Like, what’s the worst thing if I auditioned for this? You jump and take the leap.” Awww… Gigi Hadid (Annie Leibovitz) The Cinema Society & Neon Toast The Actor’s Premiere With Gemma Chan & André Holland Cheers! On Monday night, The Cinema Society and Neon hosted the official New York premiere of Duke Johnson’s latest film, The Actor. Starring Gemma Chan and André Holland, the historical crime film was screened at Village East. In her accompanying interview with Jason Wheeler, the star shares how she’s developing new film Just Cause, starring in summer’s Jurassic World: Rebirth, and balancing both producing and acting projects with parenting and her skincare line, The Outset. “It’s understanding how to delegate,” Johansson says. “I’ve gotten better at that with more experience.
